I love Pam Shriver’s dig at Graf saying that Graf was never that popular. This comment is so untrue : Graf was popular everywhere she played and extremely popular at the French Open and Wimbledon throughout her career. Shiver took many opportunities over the years to ‘poke’ acidic comments towards Graf. She is a very sour individual IMO.
Pam is a delusional commenter, she says things like "Chrissie is very limited by what she can do" and always talking about how she beat an (ill) Graf at the 1988 Virginia Slims Championship. She is a miserable old cow!
@Max E I would say Chris Evert was universally loved throughout her career. Especially when Martina was dominating Chris. The crowd was always on Chris’s side.
well she wasnt that popular in the US- she really never made an attempt to be likeable, just went out and won her matches. I think when she married Agassi she got a little more personality.
Such a pity they never finished the mixed doubles tournament. I know the schedule got backed up and Steffi got a cold but I think she was wrong to default at the time. I’m sure she regrets it.
I am pretty sure she was having all these conflicting thoughts at the moment. First, she was a big admirer McEnroe ("No one plays like him" she said years before); so playing with him all the wat to the final on your farewell tournament must be once in a lifetime opportunity for her. However would you still risk that for your potential 23rd Grand Slam? I guess even today she was saying to herself: "I did the right thing then"
Always is a Joy to watch your Game

Yeah. Pam has always been a total cunt. Can't stand her.
