I hate this new trend of replacing buttons with a screen. Audi's climate menu is just awkward to use and feels a little flimsy. The climate buttons are probably the most used buttons in a car. Why would you have to navigate through a menu, while driving, to change anything? It's probably a lot cheaper to do this though, having nice aluminium buttons is classy but expensive. As much as we car guys are loathe to admit it, in the current year where engineers are all but magicians the best all-rounder is going to sit a little higher and I think a comprehensive analysis considering all facets will likely reveal that the best all-rounder is the Porsche Cayenne. The fastest ones will match this M3 down a back road with mid 3 second 0-60 sprints and 1G+ skid pad numbers (the Cayenne Turbo GT is only 3 seconds slower around the nurburgring than this M3 estate, 7:38 vs 7:35), deliver proper sportscaresque chassis dynamics, feel, and feed back, fit 5 adults in comfort and luxury with the ride and NVH of an S class and build quality of a Porsche, offroad like a range Rover, tow as big a boat as you can get away with without permits (rated for 7,700 lbs), the hybrid models will do 30 mpg, and since the 2015 958.2 face-lift they look good too, all while being bullet proof reliable as well. Funnily the grill isn't that bad anymore in my eyes. Not pretty, but tolerable. I've come to an conclusion that BMW made the iX so hideous that these more mundane models would look better. The interior is still horrible and lack of manual bummer. And the price of course :D. But what really has killed BMW in my eyes is the stupid maintanance system. They timing chains ruined with insane oil change interval, "lifetime" oils in diffs, transfer boxes and autoboxes, even though fe ZF says that 80tkm is the recommended fluid change interval for it.
Great video. Not seen anything from Ollie before, but really enjoyed it. Seemed to get the balance just right. Somehow, the front grille seemed less offensive in this touring guise...
It’s interesting that it’s illegal to use your phone whilst driving, but what’s the difference between your phone and swiping through that screen to turn your seat heater down
@@Kacpa2 At least based on the BMW Configurator, there is a BMW M3 Competition M xDrive Touring that comes with a manual, it's just even more expensive. And btw, the stupid carbon seats are a 5 grand extra.
@@andreasschultze6644 It doesnt have a manual and i dont want to show off. I want something that will be fun and be something around power/torque level of a naturally aspirated 3L 6 cylinder(tho cylinder engines are quite interesting too) with manual and wagon bodystyle. Have few options on my mind, all much mlre afflrdable than m340i. Some of the options require a swap like Lexus IS300 sportcross(unless i go for weaker is200), others are super rare in exact configuration i want them in like Subaru Legacy 3.0R spec B. With few other options that come with some tradeoffs like Ford Modeo ST220 which is front wheel drive but has cable throttle still. I did think of e46 330xi/330i touring, but its hard to find a godo example nowadays and rep that bmw drivers have here, is something i dont want to affiliate myself with. it also comes short on one aspect i want it to have which is potential to be used for trip camping in it for 2 people. IS has trick with front seats folding flat, Legacy has just long and flat-ish space with rear seats folded. E46 has super steep incline with seats "folded" and its quite tight in the trunk to begin with. So even if it has potential to be more fun, it comes short in terms of practical side. Subaru XV/Impreza Hatch is what it has to eclipse. I am willing to give up awd for RWD, but it has to have something interesting and or useful. These few cars is what i consider now unless you know something else from 2000s that could work.
The complaints are all completely legit. Why does BMW think we want fiber speed bumps. And why are MFGs so dense about putting easy to use climate controls?!
I like that the first versions of these aren’t accessible in America, it gives bmw the opportunity to see if ppl like it/ if it’ll actually sell- then bring it to the us market if the numbers are right. If so- I’m sure they’ll bring it over without price gouging customers too bad, and collectors will find that cost of importing EU models will drop accordingly… IF* They become available in the us in this theory.
Problem is that most americans ruined the market and/or hate wagons gor stupid non-reasons. While buying shitty suv's enmasse. Only wagon that sells is the Outback from Subaru. Others are hyper expensive cuz of chicken tax, and premium prices to begin withm
The hump in the middle of the seat IS NOT A BIG DEAL, the biggest deal is the seat blosters. If you are even slightly overweight or a Taller, broader person, these seats WILL NOT WORK. They are much easier to get in and out of than the Porsche carbon seats but the ridge on the actual seat, is very stiff and a bit high. The car looks great though!!

@@baoquoc3710 B58 is a junk engine its been fully exposed at around the 50k mile mark as people predicted it would.
They timing chains ruined with insane oil change interval, "lifetime" oils in diffs, transfer boxes and autoboxes, even though fe ZF says that 80tkm is the recommended fluid change interval for it.
it wouldn'y. The grille is the least heinous thing about it
The US definitely should get this
swiss italian border? aigle is lac leman means swiss frech border (i know this corner 8) - anyway i love the frozen look and your images - THX
Alpina have making fast bmw estates for a while now
you also can get an Alpina B3 touring with the S58 engine and better look front end
Great video. Not seen anything from Ollie before, but really enjoyed it. Seemed to get the balance just right. Somehow, the front grille seemed less offensive in this touring guise...
Nice car. For your info, 4 wheel drive vehicles do no exist anymore , now they are all wheel drive! Big difference.
only if you are a muppet and believe the internet muppets, both contexts were used for numerous years in conflicting applications
It’s interesting that it’s illegal to use your phone whilst driving, but what’s the difference between your phone and swiping through that screen to turn your seat heater down
amazing looking car but no physical buttons is a major no no
It‘s a coincidence that I‘ve been to barryland just 3 weeks ago so I enjoyed the St Bernhard sequence even more! 😅 pleasant surprise!
Even with its quirks and faults it’s the absolute perfect high performance, year round daily driver! 🥰
It would be if it had full button controls and manual gearbox. And front end had normal sized kidney grills.
@@Kacpa2 At least based on the BMW Configurator, there is a BMW M3 Competition M xDrive Touring that comes with a manual, it's just even more expensive. And btw, the stupid carbon seats are a 5 grand extra.
@@Kacpa2buy a pre-facelift m340i instead… has enough power to Show off.
These few cars is what i consider now unless you know something else from 2000s that could work.
what's your issue with the front? I also didn't liked it at first but now it really grew on me
Same I didnt hate it when it released now I love it
only a blind person could like it.
Bring back buttons campaign
Others are hyper expensive cuz of chicken tax, and premium prices to begin withm
we need in the US.
Removing buttons and moving them to a enormous screen is going to change once someone wins a lawsuit.
Great review! Going to need one of those!
Great car ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of your best videos ever. Sorry about the BMW short-falls.
What scenery!! That's all I'm seeing 😀
the M3 Touring is not classy, the Alpina B3 is though
The carbon in the interior isn't a problem because you can just PPF the whole interior everything that can scratch
Or don't drive the car...that is even better for scratches ;)
Who are they making cars for if the people who drive them complain that buttons are missing. Who in gods name wants to scroll to change the temp?!!!!!
Really wish we could get this wagon in the US.
BMW did not learn from VW with that 'infotainment'. Also, no real cluster, just a dang screen? I'm sure it's amazing to drive!
Great video, great scenery 😊
The V10 M3 Touring was a wonderful thing. We shan't see it's like again.
You mean the V10 E60 M5 touring?
@@NessBlock You mean the V10 E61 M5 Touring
The v10 that's bottom end fell out it at 60-70k miles. Yeah I had one of them too. Utter junk, sounded nice though.
Always watching from Georgetown Guyana south America 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
That screen is a deal breaker. 🤦♂️
That screen is a tragedy
Im a Mercedes benz guy all the way . But i really like the m3 touring!
Wagons for the win!
Such a shame this isn't coming to the United States!
If it did, dealers will price it touching $200k or more.
Mental how the "M" car to have was the e46 v10 with 500+ bhp bk in the day. Now it's a 3 series BMW.
Excellent video! Having the shooting location relevant to the direction of the video was very Catchpole-esque! And the critique of BMW building cars to irritate enthusiasts felt all too accurate…
I just wish this was coming to the USA. Until it does we're limited to the RS6 Avant, A6 Allroad, a couple mercedes variants, the Forester, the Volvo and I think that's all...
The only BMW I'd ever have. Finally something to rival the RS6
Doesn’t rival the RS6.
@@michaelschultz1104 not much does but it's close. RS6 is the dream car
Heating controls only need setting 1 time, leave it in auto and the heated seats will come on automatically too. Or talk to it like your Alexa / Siri device and keep your hands on the wheel as you drift that thing in the snow!
Yep
Great review: slammed BMW for the looks and lack of buttons, but credit where it's due.
That front end 🤮
I think you are forgetting one little detail: it's only available as a Competition Touring, that's why it's so expensive.
Amazing touring - long live BMW
God I just wish this would come here to the United States
