Honey, I live in your neck of the woods and the frogs will sound like that each evening during the summer. It's probably odd to you now, but you'll grow to love that sound bc it represents calm, summer nights. Eventually, they'll fall into the background and become soothing. The firefly's and "lightning bugs" as we call them, never get old either. One of my favorite things to do is sit out on the porch after dark and watch the lightning bugs put on a show in the trees. It's amazing! The bird feeder and squirrel feeder looks like a lot of fun, but my cats aren't fans of little visitors. In in effort to keep everyone alive, I've planted flowers instead, lol.
I miss hearing frogs at night.

I’ve had an invasion of squirrels at my feeders. They are relentless. They even started eating my hanging flowers. I never heard of hot birdseed. I just invested in the squirrel proof feeders and slowly they are getting away from my deck (they make so much 💩 messes). I did put a corncob feeder for them below our deck and in the yard to give them something. We bring our feeders in every night due to the raccoons on our deck. We have dogs… I don’t need a dog v raccoon war and hospitalizations. Our chipmunks enjoy the dropped birdseed also. Plus, they get their own bowl in our front porch. 🐿️
The no mess bird seed is a bit more expensive, but much cleaner to use.
@@deniseboldea1624it’s not the seed that’s messy, the squirrels pee/poop like mice, just larger.

I was wondering if raccoons were going to show up since the food was there over night... They are so adorable AWWWWW :)
Those little umbrellas are super cute but I would take the one on the squirrel table off so we can see better. I feed the birds/squirrels too but I think the squirrels get most of the seed. They can be really aggravating at times but I love watching nature. If you live close to the woods no telling what will show up. Don’t forget to add a birdbath for the birds. There was a neighborhood cat sitting in mine a couple days ago. Enjoy your new pastime. Can’t wait to see more!
We live in NC too and feed the squirrels peanuts! You can get large bags from Tractor Supply. We have the double sided squirrel feeders on our fence. We’re obsessed with the birds and squirrels too ❤

I have 2 Bird Feeders and 1 Squirrel Feeder. I put out 2 different seed mixtures for the birds and the Squirrels get Shelled Peanuts, Sunflower Seeds and Corn

Good morning Jenny. Those frogs are very loud . That's a great way to feed the squirrels with their own feeder.
I put up a shephard's hook and I put a baffle below it, which looks like a dog cone of shame that they wear from the vet. It is made of metal, and it is put away from the trees so the squirrels can't jump from above or climb up the pole. The shephard's hook is very tall, and so hanging feeders can be hung and I have up to 4 feeders at a time. So far, so good. It also helps that I put out a shallow pan of cracked corn for the squirrels. They can eat any seed that is dropped from the feeders, and sometimes, I give them peanuts or sometimes a little bit of sunflower seeds. I am going to have to get a bird buddy. Thank you for sharing!!!! That first bird is a tufted titmouse. Those are the birds that are famous for gathering fur or hair from dogs while they sleep or people sometimes! The second brown bird is a carolina wren. They are super loud and will sometimes nest in the weirdest places such as a hanging plant on your porch or in the mailbox!!! I love your trail cam. That is so much fun to use!! I have used them on a beaver lodge and had so much footage, it was so amazing!!!

I bought a bird feeder for my cats to watch thru our window. The squirrels would not leave it alone, so I got them a squirrel feeder picnic table too. 🐿 LOL
Our squirrels LOVE peanuts in the shell. Each morning I put out peanuts, and it becomes "Squirrel-a-palooza" til the peanuts are gone. LOL

Love to see that you have the bird buddy and squirrel table. We have those as well and get so much enjoyment out of them.
When I lived in a rural area the squirrels would eat up all the bird food. So I stuck the feeder on a pole away from trees so they couldn't jump on it. It was also high enough the couldn't jump up on it. I then greased the pole with Vaseline and watch them slide on the pole. I currently live in an apartment and have a hummingbird feeder hanging outside my desk window. It is so enjoyable to watch them feed and fly. I enjoy the sound of the tree frogs that hang around my flowers, it is so relaxing to me.

Tip: Squirrels are not nocturnal, but raccoons are. Maybe in the future, put out the food during the day so the squirrels can get their fill before the raccoons clean up the leftovers (and knock over the picnic table, blocking the camera, lol)!
I grew up in the Denver area and never heard frogs until I moved to the Houston area about a year ago. There's a pond right outside my apartment, and the frogs are SO LOUD! It took me a while to get used to the noise, but I would miss it now. I had a frog somehow get inside my apartment a couple of weeks ago, and that freaked me out! Luckily I was able to toss a Tupperware container over it, slide the lid underneath, and then carry it back outside where it belongs.
Also, I grew up in the county in the south and grew to love that sound of frogs at night! Love the video too!

I have one of those! Love the thing. Had a deer at mine yesterday. LOL The feeders on the pole with a baffle below, is the only thing I found that keeps the squirrels away. 🤷♀️🙂

Loved your surprise guest, and the squirrel was adorable. I think you should add your trail camera to your vlogs too. I enjoy the variety of videos that you do and that Jacob does to. Happy you love North Carolina, I’d love to live their to. I live northern New York State but all my children live here, so unless they move I’ll have to put up with all the weather conditions.

I live in country Australia and get lots of critters in my backyard. Especially frogs . They are so loud! At one point I saw half a dozen of them making their way under the porch 😂
The bird life here is amazing and am now thinking about getting one of those setups for my partner.
We also have a big daddy kangaroo that comes and goes in the backyard to eat the green grass.
We also have 4 local magpies that hang around the house. They tap on the window when they want treats. Healthy bird treats of course.

That picnic table is so cute! Those darn racoons, they eat cat food as well so this doesn't come as too much of a shock but now you have to get a racoon feeder😅 Jen I don't want to alarm you but if all the little animals all of a sudden stop making noise that's not usually a good sign lol. Normally it can mean that a large predator is around so just be aware of that. If it stays quiet you may want to consider moving indoors especially if you're by yourself. Think of it as a sort of warning system 🙂
I have the same problem with squirrels eating all my seed out of my squirrels proof feeder. I buy a big bag of deer corn from Walmart for 13 dollars and I throw it out every day to help distract them from the seed.

I am also scared of frogs or toads jumping towards me, I first ordered a BirdBuddy feeder but cancel when I realized it only recorded vertical and I wanted horizontal recordings for more view area of the birds, you can flick the daddy long legs off, it won't hurt you, but peppermint oil sprayed around is something that cause spiders to flee, I have a trail cam too, I love those, you can mount your trail cam on a post, buy a post and put it near your squirrel feeder area, with cement and attach your trail cam with a lock chain thingy, I think someone may have stolen my previous trail cam because it disappeared and I had to buy a new trail cam, I think you need to mount your squirrel feeder with screws, raccoons and squirrels can destroy a feeding station if they decide to chew the area to get at the seed, I had a squirrel totally chew throw my feeders that were plastic, so I had to stay using steel feeders lol but because I am on the autism spectrum also, I love watching nature, have fun Jenn

Oh Jenn ya have a Wren @6:34 🐦⬛ I have two a male and a really sweet, sassy, adorable female whom I named Rose as she is something else, she came to my home about three years ago and I loved her from the get go. I was out back looking at my rose bushes that wasn’t doing so well at all because of all the little green worms eating it to death and that’s when I spotted her everyday after that eating them off as I was on the porch just encouraging her to eat all she could and that’s how she got her name Rose🌹 she builds nest all over around my house from flower pots, the grill, my old mailbox I use in the garden to my hanging baskets, bird houses and I love having her here around me because she is company outside while Im in garden. She just had her babies out of the nest last week and teaching them underneath the bushes how to look for food and trusting me being near them. She will let me know with that load yell if something is wrong and flys around to let me know she needs help and I leave my kitchen window cracked just so I can hear her and she knows how to find me there or when I’m outside. I hope ya become a bird friend to yours as well, ya have to talk to her so she knows your voice because that’s how my Rose trust me. Now back to your video to see the squirrel picnic table 🐿️ ♥️

The screw has to go from the bottom up through the bottom table and all ya have to do is replace the corncob by screwing it down on the screw. I have a Cracker Barrel rocker squirrel feeder 🥰 Jenn your gonna be a country girl before ya know it in no time girl! lol love your outside garden videos 💜

Since the hot bird seed has got so expensive, I just mix Cayenne pepper (Bought from the dollar store) with regular bird seed and it does the trick!
My squirrels were not fazed by the spicy food 😩 I also bought one of those picnic tables for our squirrels and it worked! Now everyone is happy lol Your frog background noise sounds just like where I live in SC 😅 🐸

You have to put it out early morning because racoons come out at night and the squirrel come.out early morning to eat.

The frogs 🐸 will not hurt you. I promise. 😊 They just jump around, and make croaking sounds. The South, is pretty much Bug Central. LOL Some do bite or sting, or both, etc...
I ended up being eaten alive sitting at that table at night!! 😆
