- Join Omni Garage as we test and compare two of Ryobi’s handheld 18V sprayers. The 3.5L is advertised as having flow rate of 0.5 l/min at 45 PSI while the 7.5L puts out 0.38 l/min at 32 PSI.
These battery-powered sprayers replace the need to pressurise the tank by pumping a handle. A 5.0AH battery will spray pesticide or herbicide through the adjustable nozzle on the 7.5L model for up to 12 hours.
The unit’s cap also doubles as a handy measuring cup to help accurately determine the mix in your sprayer. The included harness enables one or two-hand operation. Both models can be used one handed thanks to their lock-on switch.

Thank you for showing the spray patterns and rates. So many other reviewers ignore it and don’t show actual usage. Thank you for being so thorough and genuine.
You’re most welcome. We like to show what these tools are like in actual use scenarios rather than just rattling off the advertised features. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I've had my 2 gallon (7.5 litre) for 5 years now and it doesn’t quite put out at the original rate but i still get .25 gpm (almost 1 litre pm). Works great tor pesticides and weed killers and i always wash it out thoroughly. I'm in central Texas.
Great video bud.. you satisified my curious and helped me make my decision. Cheers mate😊
Very good and thorough review mate, other reviewers could learn from your video and it's relevant content to a buyer
Great demo, which gives a relevant level of information and demo, to make a decision of whether to buy or not. And hey, I just love the way you say "Pressure" :)
Thanks for the nice comment!
really impressed with your review, thank you. Also, great help explaining and practically demonstrating in real-time the two side-by-side in regards to flow rates.
No problem at all. Really happy you enjoyed the video and found it useful!
Great job mate! Great video
Appreciate it mate!
Very detailed review, I am going to get one.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you from Canada
Thanks for the video. I am convinced and will be buying one
No problem. Enjoy!
Ps I’ve bought this and spreader after your videos .... notice your lawn nicest in street
Awesome video mate. Well done🤙
Thank you Sulusi!
Nice video. Many thanks. 🙌
No problem. Happy to help.
Just taken delivery of the 3.5 litre one ..... shame the top isn’t similar to fabric condition bottles ie no chemicals will not reach the seal
Wow. Great video!
Thanks for the kind comment!
Great video mate!!
Thanks Rick!
Thank you!
I went through 2 of the one gallon units, both acted the same. Squeeze the trigger, the spray was decent and then it weaseled out. I was spraying a wasps nest and they looked at the spray and came right at me. There wasn't enough pressure to keep them away. A trip to the ER and $100 for medicine canceled the Ryobi sprayer for me. Hell if these sprayers can't match what the hand pump units can do, what good are they?
Sorry to hear about this. We have had these sprayers for multiple years without experiencing any problems.
You must be good on the hand pump sure you not been at sea for a year or more I used be okay on the hand pump in my younger days
@@barrytipton1179 im pretty young and i can definitely pump the manual ones really good.
However those hand pumps lose pressure as you go. So the first few seconds it sprays good and then it gets impotent pretty fast.
The ryobi motor gives a consistent spray all the way through. Its just easier to work with.
@@SourDonut99 glad to hear you are you are so young but remember as u get older hand pumping gets harder glad to see you are on board …. Good luck
@@SourDonut99 I have just bought a ryobi 18volt power washer it’s not as good as my powerful mains one however it will suck out of a tub etc and when I’m doing drive and whatever with moss killer will make light work of it
Can you use a extended wand one the bigger one to spray up in the trees
The wands aren’t very long. So would depend on how high up you wanted to spray.
Thanks for that great - how far can they spray as I need to winter oil one of my trees. Many thanks mark
I’m not really sure. They would spray a similar distance as a typical hand pump sprayer.
How far will it shoot
Would it spray under house for roaches!
@James-fc6wp no idea sorry. Not really far it’s a sprayer.
@@James-fc6wp you could just barrier spray - I reckon about 8 feet
Odd that the larger unit has weaker spray. Is this a fluke or intentional?
I’d say it would be to do with the pressurisation of the larger tank.
I would say it has to do with the head pressure of the pump.
The larger one is sucking the liquid to a higher level so the pressure drops off.
Had the larger one replaced today due to not spraying. New one no pressure spray just dribbling out, so annoying
the plastic latch broke on mine so the top doesn't stay on the bottom anymore... so its unusable, why would they use plastic... not sure if that falls under warranty or not, I do not have the box anymore
@zupE891 these ones both have metal latches
@@OmniGarage yes but the metal clip latches onto a plastic piece. That plastic piece breaks very easily. The plastic is holding all the weight of the liquid container. Bad design
The great thing about Ryobi is the returns policy. Any issue we have encountered has resulted in a no questions asked exchange, or refund. Disappointing that it’s failed for you, but it’s nice to know a replacement is an easy thing to obtain.
@@OmniGarage so I can just take it in without a box and get a refund? That's pretty cool. Won't get that again but might try their 4 gal backpack one without the latches
I’m not too sure where in the world you’re from, but we’ve not encountered any issues here in New Zealand returning a Ryobi product without a box (as they’re the only retailer).
Good video mate. Do you know if you can get a wider spray lance for these?
Thank you. Unsure about the spray lance. You can adjust the nozzle at the end to change the spray pattern slightly.
Have you tried using these for rinseless washes ?
No.
After building up pressure, does the motor only turn on when the wand is pressed or is it always running? Thanks!
It turns off after pressure has built up.
@@OmniGarage mine keeps running.
You will hear like a general hum of the motor running.
Does the sound/ motor keep running when not spraying ?
Yes motor keeps running.
Great video how long does the battery last on the 3.5 liter on full charge of continuous running?
Depending on what capacity battery, a long time! I typically use the 2.5amp hour battery which will empty this sprayer several times before needing a recharge.
@@OmniGarage thank you!
I just sprayed 15 litres with the 3.5 litre or more with a part charged 1.3 amp battery still plenty charge in battery must admit got sick of refilling tempted buy the bigger one life is too short keep filling up lol
@Barry Tipton that is exactly why I got the bigger one! I think the bigger capacity is a nice size.
@@OmniGarage trouble is it’s 20kg I would have to put it on my ride on tractor or my mobility scooter I’m sacking the bloke who sprays my lawn weeds I’ve got the ryobi 18v spreader that’s good
I bought the 3.5L and it didn't come with the nozzle shown on yours and no success in contacting ryobi. I have a bunch of other nozzles but none fit as it's a weird size. Did yours nozzle come with or do you know where to get one that fits these sprayers?
Both came with nozzles.
Even Teejet can't fit it?? I just ordered some teejet...
Can use this to spray a fence with a sealer/stain?
I personally wouldn’t. Go with something designed specifically for this like a Wagner sprayer.
What nozzles does it come with? Does it come with a fan spray nozzle?
Just a standard fan spray nozzle.
@@OmniGarage It comes with a twist type adjustable nozzle, NOT a fan nozzle.
Are the tanks interchangeable?
They sure are.
Is there a foaming nozzle?
Not that I am aware of.
Would this work to spray off kids/feet/boogie boards at the beach? Wondering if the spray would be powerful enough...
Probably not.
They sell a portable pressure cleaner now
Yes I have seen these.
Fantastic , VEDEO
Thanks!
Whats a millie meater?
📏
i got mine turn it on it makes lot of noies is thst normal
Yep
Be good if you by tank separate
Yeah - might be nice but these are relatively affordable that if you wanted an additional tank, you could always just buy another sprayer.
@@OmniGarage True that I like to have sprayer for herbicide and separate for fungicide/pesticide just to be safe
You can buy extra tanks. 👍🏼
Can anyone confirm the pump on the 1 gal sprayer is supposed to keep running? My 4 gal backpack only pumps when pressure drops vs the 1 gal will always be running when switch is on. Thanks!
It runs until you turn it off
Also , if the sprayer will run and not spray ??
Prime the pump
You can prime it by running water under pressure into the inlet
@@carllucas1070 thank you.
The pump should keep running the entire time the machine is turned on. I believe the backpack does run differently, which would be nice as it’d be quieter especially having it on your back and close to your ears.
I guess you're British? You all say things differently than us Americans lol.

@cam_airtech and also on @modder packer reach out to us on Instagram with some decent information regarding both sprayers. “Hey mate, are you testing these or just going off the manufacturers spec? I looked at both units and they're both rated at 45psi. Also these sprayers do not build pressure in the tank. It's simply a diaphragm pump siphon the fluids.”
