I am a former Home Depot Supervisor and left to start my own construction/ handyman service company. Not to bash specific brand names but I have tried all brands of tools from the yellow to the red to the blue to the green to the orange. I have experience using them both in the store and on the job site. All of my main tools are red but there are a few Ryobi tools which I use professionally. I will say that most I would generally recommend Ryobi for home/diy use but some tools such as their battery brad and pin nailers work well for professional jobs. I have not yet tried this sprayer but after this video I now think that it is worth a try. Many times I have spoken with the regional Techtronics rep. To the comments about the style of battery he informed me that the goal with Ryobi tools is that although through the years things such as indicators and amp hours have changed the main selling point is that if someone bought a drill in say 1996; they can simply purchase a new battery in 2020 when the old battery gives out. The new battery and older drill will still be compatible. I have seen this demonstrated. Most other brands (including Techtronics brands) change their battery style every so many years. I do like this concept which works well with homeowners who may not have a specific budget to buy new tools each year. Thank you for this great video. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing other videos. Again; I may have to purchase and try out the sprayer now!
Garnet thank you for sharing your unique perspective! I have tools by red, blue, orange, and Ryobi as well and all are suitable for all but the most grueling job sites.
I was an early adopter of battery power tools and I own tools from all of the name brands except Ridgid. Some years ago I began switching to Ryobi 18V power tools solely because I didn't want to upgrade several thousand dollars worth of tools and batteries with the switch from Ni-Cad/NiMH to Li-on. Companies don't make much money on the tools, but they make a killing on the batteries. Yes, Milwaukee, Dewalt, Makita, (etc.) tools are more powerful, but I've not felt that the switch has impacted my work in any way. Also, hands-down, no contest, if you are careful, and patient, you can not get better tool deals than what Ryobi offers. The one caveat is that I only recommend Ryobi's top-of-the-line tools unless you have very little use for a power tool, then get the budget packages - or better yet, corded tools.
High quality video, and love the hands-on shots and explanations in your videos, thank you! It's nice to see content from someone that actually understands how to use the tools.
I recently purchased this sprayer. It is so much better than those pump sprayers. I didn't realize that most people throw away their pump sprayers and buy new ones each year. Good review. Thanks!
Thank you for the review. Im in the market for a chemical sprayer and came across your page. Its safe to say I'm going to buy this product thanks to your review.
Thank you for very quick reply and please to hear it’s still working maybe my replacement sprayer will last much longer. I do use a lot of Ryobi tools in my workshop and giving me great service
I have several Ryobi tools and the only one to every completely disappoint me is the cordless “stick” vacuum which has poor battery life and fills up annoyingly fast.
My favorite battery powered tool is a small portable air compressor made by Ryobi. It has a low pressure side for blowing up inflatables for camping, boating, etc. But on the other side is a high pressure side for tires. Ive had it for probably over 6 years and have got some extremely high use out of it. It was the best $40 I spent (mine didnt come with a battery but I already had 4 batteries). I actually used it so much I have been looking for another one to replace it when it dies but I can't find it. I don't think they make it anymore.
The battery "stem" is a remnant of the older NiCad battery packs, which allows the 18V Li-Ion One+ battery packs to function in older legacy Ryobi tools. Seemed to me, at the time, to be an odd choice on Ryobi's part and makes even less time as time has marched forward. Ryobi, Rigid (at least the consumer tool side), and Milwaukee are all owned by the TTI company and your observation is spot on. Ryobi seems to be the low-end test bed for weird and whacky tools for TTI. Honestly, as long as the engineering and quality control is there the new Ryobi tools in the fluorescent green have been pretty good. I remember the old blue tools: I agree, generally middling to poor performance and/or quality. Thank you for sharing your thorough review!
This was a phenomenal thorough review. Thank you for putting the effort into making this. I gave your video a thumbs up and purchased the product as well.
I have this sprayer for a few years and it's fantastic. I sure wish Ridgid would start rolling out some new tools because I have been invested in their platform.
Robert thank you for sharing your experience. Ryobi recently announced 25 new tools: www.ryobitools.com/liveevent?PR_Event__Recap& I’m most excited about the cordless flooring saw.
I went to Ryobi when unknown in the UK. I got fed up with Bosch changing the battery style all the time which put me off the company. I had the early Ryobi lithium battery 2007 and is still going strong today.
I bought one a couple weeks ago and just used it yesterday. I'm not impressed with the pressure, it started out pretty good but quickly dropped off to a fizzle. I was spraying dawn and vinegar mixture to get rid of wasps. Good thing they were still sleeping, there wasn't enough pressure to combat them if they were lively. I'm going to call Ryobi today and see what they have to say, if they fluff me off with nonsense, I'm returning it. My pump sprayers work quite well, I just have to keep them pumped up. That exercise won't hurt he, but a bee sting would my death, I'm allergic. :(
Question. Did you get a resolution to this? Mine starts off too. Then trickles down to nothing really fast. I noticed it started off good. Plenty of pressure, then simply trickles out. I got use to using it that way, but it still pisses me off that it’s so weak. It’s got a prostate problem or something going on. I’m on TH-cam seeing if others have similar experience, and if there’s a way to get this thing some Viagra or something to boost that pressure up. Mine has been like this out of the box. My dad bought one the same day and turns out his is fine. So, mine has some issue and I wish I knew. I bought it a couple years ago and now I’m sure there’s no recourse.
Clean the intake screen and the pressure will be like it was when you first bought it. Remove the screen and soak it in warm vinegar to dissolve the encrusted mineral deposits. As soon as I cleaned the screen, the pressure was up again, and I was getting the fine mist. I always blamed the device, but the solution to the problem was very simple.
@@richardarthurnorton - Thank you for your reply kind sir.. however, I already did that. That did increase the pressure, but the pressure was bad to begin with. I am looking for a way to increase the overall pressure of the sprayer. I'm looking for a pressure reg, or, an output modification for these.. I cleaned that filter and showed my dad how to do it as well on his. But, it's always been just a weak prostate stream.. I want the thing peeing like it's 6 years old again, up one side of my aunt's bathroom wall trying to hit the tub from 50 ft away.
I love the Ryobi brand. I started with it 11 years ago with a powerdrill and have since expanded when i needed some tools.. I can report on the battery quality. The battery i first got 11 years ago is still working fine and i have used it for all my tools i have. That is great! I bought a grass trimmer a few years ago and that one used a bit more energy so i ended up buying 2x 5Ah batteries and with those i can go on forever with my powertools.. I use the small one for stuff that does not use that much power, like the drill for example where its handy to have a smaller battery... So far i have the following tools and i love them: drill circular saw hand vac glue gun (did not realise it when i bought this one, but i use it A LOT, and i love that its cordless) palm sander (this one vibrates a lot when running, not so great).. soldering iron grass trimmer ... next on my shoppinglist is this sprayer... Will use it for fighting weed and also apply cleaning agent to clean the wood walls on my house before repainting the house .. Thats a big job for it... and i dont want to pump and pump and pump... :)
I ordered one of these sprayers, exactly like the one in the video. Ordered 5/11/2020, picked up around 5/18/2020 - I've used it, possibly 3 times at most in that time. Worked great the first couple of times I used it. Now, it will not pump - period. Motor runs, I've taken all the connections apart, cleaned them, blew everything out with compressed air - nothing. To be fair, I did not clean it at all, after the first couple of times I used it. I'm using a mixture of cleaning vinegar, epsom salt and dish detergent for weed control. I guess I'm gonna have to take it back, because I don't know what else to do.
From the owner's manual: NOTICE: It is important to thoroughly clean the unit after each use. Allowing liquid to remain in an idle tool for an extended period may cause its moving pieces and connectors to seize up.
The screen on the inlet tube needs to be removed and soaked in warm vinegar to dissolve the minerals that clog the screen. Look at the screen under a magnifying glass and you will see the encrustations. As soon as I did that the unit worked perfectly again.
Thanks for the video....I like you, was looking for something from Rigid as I have their other tools and have batteries....like you, found they don't have one!!! Thanks again.
Good sprayers. I have two of the 3 gallon sprayer with same batteries and I like the a lot. Thanks for the assessment, very helpful.....clear and concise
I have many Ryobi products both the 18 volt and 40 volt ones and they all work geat. I bought this sprayer last year, the first one was DOA, took it back..The second one lasted one season, used about 4 times then the motor failed so now i'm back to useing a 10 dollar manual pump sprayer..
I really liked your video. It was very professional and lighting was excellent and you spoke very clearly so I subscribed but the Ryobi sprayer that you’re using is made so you can fill it without having to take the green upper pump part off every time-the measuring cap is designed to be taken off to add your water and measured chemicals and then put that measuring cap back on to seal the unit for pressurization. I just bought the 4 gallon battery unit by Ryobi because I spray 16 gallons in a typical spray session on my property.
I watched your video and I'm taking my sprayer out for the first time. I truly enjoyed your teaching and review of this product!! I've never used a sprayer before, I'm a little nervous with using RoundUp. Thanks so much!!
If you grow food, I suggest you don't use Roundup and then use a bug spray on the plants even with a good cleaning. Roundup kills plants by restricting water intake at the roots. Even a dilute solution on plants could be detrimental. I never use the same sprayer for herbicides and insecticides.
You did a great job with this review!! I have done A LOT of research online on different brands and would like to get this from Home Depot so it would be easily returnable if I have any issues.
Clean the intake screen and the pressure will be like it was when you first bought it. Remove the screen and soak it in warm vinegar to dissolve the encrusted mineral deposits.
I thank you for an interesting video is it still working after 3 years my Ryobi sprayer lasted 12 months but they are sending me a replacement, They are now using plastic on wand instead of brass
It is light weight and works pretty good. It’s woman friendly. It doesn’t have a wide spray so you need to be patient. But, you can use something like neem to rid the average size house of serious pests in a few hours. I will use the direct spray to rid the yard of crab grass on about 1/3 and acre. If you need something faster then probably a company would be best. Some people just don’t have the time. I do. I’m going to spray for fungus now as I have clay areas that cause slip in the very rainy times.
Great review. I bought the 2 Gallon Ryobi sprayer and very pleased with it. Mine only sputters when it’s on empty (which is expected). The battery seems to go forever. Thanks 😊
I have the 2-gallon sprayer for 3 years now. I wish it had more power/psi, also the spray nozzle doesn't fan, which the back-pack types do. I see a few videos on how to upgrade the nozzle, but they do point out that this unit is too weak.
I have received many comments similar to this. I agree the PSI isn’t very strong but, for its intended purpose of spraying insecticide and herbicide on the ground, it works perfectly for me. I love not having to pump a manual spray tank anymore.
I’m a dewalt guy BUT they do not offer anything like this. Dewalt has a very large backpack style but at five gallons I have zero use for that. Dewalt simply isn’t making anything like this for the consumer. I’ve noticed that Ryobi has a ton of consumer based power tools. For example glue guns, sprayers, power cutting tool etc. ryobi has cut a nice niche for themselves in this sector.
Jason I absolutely agree!! I was foolishly loyal to Ridgid for years because the quality of their large woodworking tools was so good. But I missed out on so many awesome tools because Ridgid wasn’t innovating.
Great review. One thing you left out of your review. How powerful is the spray? I need to spray my mango trees and need a stream of about 20 feet to reach the top of the trees.
Interesting. My 18V Ryobi battery for the 13" small lawnmower does have indicators for the battery life. I'll have to make sure it would fit before purchasing.
Jeff this sprayer came with the 1.3AH battery which is the least powerful but works fine for this item. It appears the Ryobi batteries which are 2.5AH and above have the battery indicators.
@@houseonthemend ahh ok that makes sense. I do quite a bit of spraying but it's only a 1,000 square foot area so 1 gallon is perfect. Its a bentgrass putting green so I'm spraying some product at least once a week. The pump sprayer was ok but it's inconsistent and when turf is cut under 1/4" consistency is critical. Great review, thanks again.
How far does the sprayer reach, does it shoot a solid stream 15 ft.,,20 ft.its important to know for spraying trees, inside a crawl space, hard to reach places?
BOUGHT THE 2 GAL LAST YEAR,used about 8 times. The cap on top cracked cost $20 with shipping.Today Dec. 2019 I had to order a complete wand handle because a >50 cent spring broke where you push down the handle, that and 3 washers was $24 with shipping.Parts come from Gardner Inc.
I purchased one and it stopped pumping after about eight usages, home depot replaced it with a new one and this one will not turn on after 6 months. I called ryobi and I have to take it to a service center. I'm not impressed with the constant failures of this product. it has a 3 year warranty.
I purchased a 1 gallon Ryobi 18V sprayer. It has a 3 year warranty. It quit working in about 2 years. I took it to an authorized Ryobi service center. They first said 'we can't get parts from a company named (Gardner MFG). Then they told me They needed the receipt from Home Depot. I found where I registered it but that wasn't good enough. I just waisted $ 70.00+ dollars.
I had the same experience after 6 months. It looks like the on/off switch or motor blew because the on/off switch was full of soot. I had just used it. I took it to Home Depot for replacement but they told me that their return back/replacement policy is only three months. So I called Ryobi the following day on Monday and got the rudest customer service rep. She referred me to one of the service centers and the fella was very nice but told me not to bring it in for the next five or six weeks because they were very backlogged. I think what I am going to write a review on the Ryobi website because I saw that Ryobi responds to negative reviews. I hate to do that but I paid $85.00. With that kind of money I would expect the product to last longer. Personally I don’t think the unit is repairable. In the meantime I had to buy another one because I need my sprayer to fertilize my orchids.
@@houseonthemend I called Ryobi a day or two after I picked it up. Ryobi called the repair center and talked to them about the situation. Ryobi called me back and ask if I would return it to the repair shop and wait for the parts (from China). It is in the shop now. The man at the shop did not give me any static about bringing it back. He pulled the pickup ticket from a couple days ago and said they would keep in touch when the parts come in.
Great detail. Thanks for the video. Do you have a feel for the coverage that you from the 1 gallon tank? I plan to use weed killer that is to be applied at a rate of 2.4 oz per 1,000 sq ft but I don't know how much to add to the water in the tank.
Looks like a nice sprayer, I was wondering if it can spray a thin liquid wood sealer stain, which has the viscosity of paint thinner, and is also an oil based stain?
Just purchased one and it's not spraying. I thought it might be defective, went and purchased another one and same situation, its not spraying. has anyone had the same situation and how did you fix it. I don't think both units can be defective.
Are you satisfied with how this sprays and the length of time the battery lasts...?...Have you found another battery operated 2 gallon sprayer that you like better, for $150 or under...?....Thank you....
Dawn great question. Yes I am completely satisfied with how it sprays insecticide and herbicide. As I demonstrated and stated in the video, the battery lasts a very long time.
A quick internet search only reveals two other brands I recognize with many other tools using their battery platform: Milwaukee and Kobalt. Milwaukee is a professional grade and costs around $300 which is way too expensive in my opinion. The other is Lowe’s tool brand “Kobalt”. They make very good tools and their sprayer is $99 with one battery included.
How long did you charge? Great review video--thanks! Got one yesterday and read where the charge only takes ONE hour!! 30 gallon discharge on one hour charge??
Thank you for your kind comment. I left the battery on the charger until it showed solid green. I’ll time it next time and let you know how long it takes.
Nice Video. do you have an update on the sprayer after 3 years? I live in Florida and much treat the outside of my walls twice a years. I did it for the first time a few months ago with a Harbor Freight pump and I don't want to do it again. I am trying to decide if I want to buy the unit you reviewed or the bigger unit. I need to also do the attic. A professional fogger would be great but too expensive. I hear the Ryobi foggers don't do well with herbicides. I still might get one and do a quick light spray in the attic. Its not a space I want to spend much time in. Any suggestions?
Everything is fine but, when the sprayer tank is on and we press the trigger to spray, when we release the trigger the pump never stops having to be turned off by hand. ??
great vid, i completely am in the same boat, love ridgid so much have all their tools but around home they dont make much IE weed wacker a decent blower or pump sprayer kinda stinks. love both though. THANKS FOR A GREAT VID SIR!!!!
Joshua thank you for your kind comments. I really feel I missed out on owning a bunch of really great tools by being so brand-loyal to Ridgid for fifteen years. Ryobi and Milwaukee are now sneaking into my collection and are a great addition.
Just buy a battery adapter. They are around $40 shipped on eBay. Ridgid/AEG to Ryobi. I use Ridgid tools (drill, impact, saw, etc) but have Ryobi 18v yard tools. Works great. No need for an additional battery series or chargers, and when ridgid batteries get old you just swap them out for free... www.ebay.com/itm/202900313408
Nice video demonstration! One thing I didn't hear or see if whether or not you know if the spray nozzle attachment allows for adjusting between a finer mist and a higher volume stream? Please respond when you get a chance. Thanks!
Oops. Feel rude. I watched the entire video, great and professionally made. Had to come back here and leave a like. The least I can do for your greatly produced time you took out of your life to do a video. I have one, as I posted elsewhere, so already doing my own low pressure review (not really, but yeah) Upsetting that these sprayers seem to have a prostate problem and stream starts out hood but then it just trickles. Ok, cheers!
@@houseonthemend yeah no doubt lol. I admire people like you who make amazing videos. I have a few, but they’re irrelevant and mostly issues with my CNC machine, or a troll response video, or just endless weird crap to send to friends who haven’t seen our property, Hurricane Florence damage, blah blah. This is my BS personal channel. I have another business channel as well, that oddly ended up with my offshore tuna fishing videos on it. Lol. Oops. Thanks buddy. I should subscribe. Hmmm. I’m on TH-cam too much. I don’t watch TV. I’ll check out your other videos. Shocked at your low sub count. Wow. Seriously. I should send you some products to review off of my main corporation. I think you’d absolutely love a few of the products we make. Hmmm, ideas. 🧐
@@houseonthemend PS: I intentionally keep this a very private account. My politics on FB came into play one time, and I was posted all over a very biased and hateful group, only for my own personal comment on my page in 2016. They literally harassed me for 2 years for a very mild comment, going so far as to close my business FB page down, literally reported my business as closed and endless harassment. It continues till this very day, and my comment literally expressed nothing but love and support for something. That’s it. So, I sealed my life down. But , if you’re interested in something cool or have the time, might be a good match. Never know.
Seth coverage is based on the product you are spraying. I can easily spray insecticide around the entire house with one gallon. I would not spray fertilizer on a lawn with this because it would take too long. The spray is very concentrated. I would broadcast dry fertilizer or use a garden hose sprayer instead.
Do not use malathion in this sprayer or any other chemical that can damage plastics. I should have remembered after my previous experiences using malathion. It doesnt go well with some plastics. It will melt them or distort them. My 1st experience with malathion damaging plastic was when the one ounce clear hard plastic measuring cup melted after measuring the amount I was mixing some for my hand pump sprayer. It also discolored it making it a milky white. By itself Malathion is clear, but when poured in water it turns the water a milky white. When I used it in the Ryobi sprayer I did not rinse it out and clean the sprayer after using it, but the damage may have already been done. The pick up tube which was a clear soft plastic turned milky white and also swelled up some. The plastic filter screen fell out of the end of the tubing and the tubing was loose where it fit over the barb for the pump suction inlet. It would no longer suction any liquid placed in the tank including plain water. I was able to order a new replacement suction tube with screen to replace the damaged one. Prior to using the malathion I had used the sprayer to spray Roundup and had not had any problems at all. I am still using it for Roundup but the motor will no longer completely shut off when I release the sprayer wand squeeze lever and fluid continues to trickle from the spray nozzle, so the pump and internals were probably damaged by the malathion. I am trying to find a replacement pump for the sprayer, but will probably buy another one anyway. I will only use the malathion or any similar chemicals with my pump sprayer in the future.
Also when it comes to storage Ryobi batteries are way easier to store and then other brands they have a charger that will charge six batteries but not only does it charge you plug them into the charger and it won’t maintain them so you can leave them in the charger for years they will never go dead and they will never be damaged that is the best way to store Ryobi batteries
I use Ryobi 18V 7.5L sprayer. It works only for couple of months and I have the third one. Lucky Ryobi has 6 years replacement warranty. Still it is annoying to drive 30KM to Bunnings. Any tricks?
@@greenuplawnworks2407 totally worth it. I've used it for numerous applications. Killing bugs. Weed killer and spraying my house with a outdoor concentrate. It saves money versus having pre mixed solutions.
Not unlike other reviews of this sprayer no one actual shows the distance of the stream created by this unit. I've seen a few of these reviews where the connector on the front had come loose, is this an oversight by the user not making sure ALL connections are tight?
Of all the hours I’ve spent using a typical pump sprayer, I never considered the need for a spray or stream beyond 12-18 inches. You are not the first person to ask about distance of the stream so My apologies.
I have three of these for different chemicals. ALL THREE HAVE CLOGGED SOLID………… I am going to use the Tractor Supply cleaning solution on them to see if it works. Has no one else seen this problem?
Dr. Rob I love gear questions!!! This is the Rode Wireless Go and I love it. I clip it right to my work shirt and off I go with no wires. Hi - thanks for your reply; my YT channel is launching soon and I’m trying to make wise choices for equipment; I’m sold on you mic set-up - audio is great; good luck with your channel!
If I dedicated it to using only water, do you think the spray is strong enough to rinse a dog after field training? I’m thinking of an “on the go” dog wash.
Tammy great question. Short answer is yes you could. Long answer is, depending on the size of your dog, you may find the process quite tedious given the spray coming out of the nozzle is very gentle and would not rinse soap out of a dogs coat very well. If you just want to mist them on a hot day it would work great.
You're showing 4 stacked Rigid batteries and not knowing how to stack 4 Ryobi batteries, well if you take two of them and lay them on their side, they form a square, so just stack another square on that.
@@houseonthemend Thank you kind sir. I just have way to many flowers and plants at hope to keep pushing that damn triger on the manual spray bottle. Gues this mile long pipe can somehow be shorten to death.
Don't they make a sprayer for painting DIY speakers boxes and other DIY stuff? They only seem to make them monster sizes. Hopefully, Ryobi will bring something that out to fill a hole in the product line. Or have I missed it?
BIGBOY the spray nozzle can be adjusted like a hand pump sprayer or spray bottle. I would describe it more like a fan to a stream. If you want fog, Ryobi makes a fogger as well. Model number P2805.
It would have been nice to actually see the nozzle and spray mechanism in use. It was demo'd with the wand buried in the bushes. I couldn't see the strength/distance of the spray. Also, the instructions are very murky regarding where the little o rings are positioned. To have shown that would have been good.
If you are spraying with a fungicide against cedar-apple rust,, make sure you buy a systemic fungicide. Spray the lower leaves that are in reach and the chemical will transport through the plant's vascular system and reach the upper leaves.

ALAPINO you are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
This was a phenomenal thorough review. Thank you for putting the effort into making this. I gave your video a thumbs up and purchased the product as well.
I’m so glad you found it helpful! Thank you for your kind comments.
I have this sprayer for a few years and it's fantastic. I sure wish Ridgid would start rolling out some new tools because I have been invested in their platform.
Robert thank you for sharing your experience. Ryobi recently announced 25 new tools:

I’m most excited about the cordless flooring saw.
Fantastic to know.
looking into sprayer first time. very helpful, clear, well paced presentation. thank-you.
Nancy you are very welcome. Thank you for your kind comments!
I went to Ryobi when unknown in the UK. I got fed up with Bosch changing the battery style all the time which put me off the company. I had the early Ryobi lithium battery 2007 and is still going strong today.
Cam Legs Ryobi has stated repeatedly they will never change their battery style. That gives me comfort in investing in their platform.
We use a pro-grade backpack spray for any spraying of significant quantity - such as spraying the stone patios to suppress mold and fungus
@RGS Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you for sharing your experience as well.
If you want a glyphosate alternative, Bonide Co's "Burnout" works well. It's citric acid (with some clove oil that helps it stick and it smells nice)
Awesome alternative.
So far i have the following tools and i love them:
drill
circular saw
hand vac
glue gun (did not realise it when i bought this one, but i use it A LOT, and i love that its cordless)
palm sander (this one vibrates a lot when running, not so great)..
soldering iron
grass trimmer
... next on my shoppinglist is this sprayer... Will use it for fighting weed and also apply cleaning agent to clean the wood walls on my house before repainting the house .. Thats a big job for it... and i dont want to pump and pump and pump... :)
taztaz79 amen!!
Great insight. I will add to my Ryobi arsenal.
Great clear camera shots! Very detailed demonstration!
👍🏻👍🏻
Poppy Z thank you very much for your kind comments!!
Alan if you purchased it at Home Depot you should have no issue returning or exchanging it.
From the owner's manual:
NOTICE: It is important to thoroughly clean the unit after each use.
Richard fantastic tip!!! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the video....I like you, was looking for something from Rigid as I have their other tools and have batteries....like you, found they don't have one!!! Thanks again.
Chris I now regret my years of mindless brand loyalty to Ridgid. I still love their products and value but am now open to any brand who fills my need.
Good sprayers. I have two of the 3 gallon sprayer with same batteries and I like the a lot. Thanks for the assessment, very helpful.....clear and concise
I have many Ryobi products both the 18 volt and 40 volt ones and they all work geat. I bought this sprayer last year, the first
one was DOA, took it back..The second one lasted one season, used about 4 times then the motor failed so now i'm back
to useing a 10 dollar manual pump sprayer..
Oh man that would be my nightmare!!!
The Chapin 1gal sprayer on Amazon works Excellent. I’m going to return my ryobi due to loosing pressure from day 1.
Thank you, Eric, for sharing that tip and subscribing!!
I watched your video and I'm taking my sprayer out for the first time. I truly enjoyed your teaching and review of this product!! I've never used a sprayer before, I'm a little nervous with using RoundUp. Thanks so much!!
Carol you are very welcome! Good luck.
If you grow food, I suggest you don't use Roundup and then use a bug spray on the plants even with a good cleaning. Roundup kills plants by restricting water intake at the roots. Even a dilute solution on plants could be detrimental. I never use the same sprayer for herbicides and insecticides.
Great suggestion!! Thank you.
You did a great job with this review!! I have done A LOT of research online on different brands and would like to get this from Home Depot so it would be easily returnable if I have any issues.
Janet thank you very much!
Great video. Can you spray sealer on the fence with it? Thanks
No. It is not intended for a chemicals such as thinner or anything volatile.
I’ve had mine for years. Not a heavy user, but it’s still performing like it did on day one. I just wish it had more pressure.
Fady thank you for sharing!!
Clean the intake screen and the pressure will be like it was when you first bought it. Remove the screen and soak it in warm vinegar to dissolve the encrusted mineral deposits.
Easily the best review on the internet.
Jerry thank you so much for your kind comment.
I thank you for an interesting video is it still working after 3 years my Ryobi sprayer lasted 12 months but they are sending me a replacement, They are now using plastic on wand instead of brass
Yes it still works the same.
Maturity thank you for sharing your experience!!
Great review. I bought the 2 Gallon Ryobi sprayer and very pleased with it. Mine only sputters when it’s on empty (which is expected). The battery seems to go forever. Thanks 😊
Juju thank you for your kind comments.
Did you buy it online? I'm at Home Depot right now and all they have is the one gallon in my store.
The two gallon sprayer was only available online here in Las Vegas.
I know this is an old content but how about a long ten review?
“Long ten”?
I have the 2-gallon sprayer for 3 years now. I wish it had more power/psi, also the spray nozzle doesn't fan, which the back-pack types do. I see a few videos on how to upgrade the nozzle, but they do point out that this unit is too weak.
I have received many comments similar to this. I agree the PSI isn’t very strong but, for its intended purpose of spraying insecticide and herbicide on the ground, it works perfectly for me. I love not having to pump a manual spray tank anymore.
Thinking about purchasing today. Thanks for the video!
Parrish you are very welcome.
Paul I doubt it will spray twenty feet.
@@houseonthemend Thank you for your input. I will look for another unit with a more powerful PSI.
Barefoot Arizona I agree. Perfect for its’ intended use.
Is it ok to store your chemical in the tank when not in use or do you have to empty it out? Will the plastic degrade?
You should thoroughly rinse it out and run clean water through the pump/nozzle after every use.
Great video ! I liked the offering of pros and cons. Excited to try my new sprayer tomorrow
Randy thank you very much for your kind comments. Enjoy your sprayer.
My local sporting good store has been using this to spray disinfectant on merchandise during this whole covid-19 lol.
You’re very welcome.
How far does the sprayer reach, does it shoot a solid stream 15 ft.,,20 ft.its important to know for spraying trees, inside a crawl space, hard to reach places?
No it is similar to a pump sprayer and meant for a fan pattern. I would estimate a stream distance of 6-8 feet.
Paul thank you very much for sharing your experience with us!
I purchased one and it stopped pumping after about eight usages, home depot replaced it with a new one and this one will not turn on after 6 months. I called ryobi and I have to take it to a service center. I'm not impressed with the constant failures of this product. it has a 3 year warranty.
Dennis thank you for sharing your experience.
Great comprehensive review, thanks. The marker was a great idea
Eulayses thank you very much!
That’s too bad. Thank you for sharing your experience.
SKRPY26 thank you for sharing your experience.
That sounds better.
doesnt come with different nozzles? I prefer using a fan spray nozzel for herbicides on the lawn
Same nozzle as a typical spray bottle - circular fan to tight stream (adjusted by twisting the nozzle).
@@houseonthemend that's a bummer I won't buy it then
Comon Ryobi a fan nozzle will cost $5
Great detail. Thanks for the video.
Do you have a feel for the coverage that you from the 1 gallon tank? I plan to use weed killer that is to be applied at a rate of 2.4 oz per 1,000 sq ft but I don't know how much to add to the water in the tank.
It definitely delivers a very fine mist in the spray (not stream) setting. A gallon goes a long way but I do not have a square foot estimate.
That is one LOUD sprayer. Probably the loudest of all I’ve seen yet.
Is the power component comparable with the 2 gallons bottle? Meaning if I already owned this one gallon one, could I buy the 2 gallon replacement ?
Great question. I don’t believe the intake hose would reach the bottom of the taller bottle so that would need to be replaced or lengthened.
I didn’t see you show the spray pattern. If you did I missed it. I would like to know if you can change the pattern of the spray?
Yes you can. Just like a hand spray bottle or any other sprayer, you twist the nozzle on the front to adjust the spray pattern.
You have sold it to me ...., I have several batteries some without indicator.... with run time of unit should not need one
Looks like a nice sprayer, I was wondering if it can spray a thin liquid wood sealer stain, which has the viscosity of paint thinner, and is also an oil based stain?
Chris let me check the manual and get back to you.
@@houseonthemend Thanks
Chris the manual says to “Use only consumer grade water-based lawn and garden chemicals”.
@@houseonthemend Got it!, Thank you buddy, I appreciate your checking for me. Chris
Chris you are very welcome.
Just purchased one and it's not spraying. I thought it might be defective, went and purchased another one and same situation, its not spraying. has anyone had the same situation and how did you fix it. I don't think both units can be defective.
I would make sure you are opening the spray nozzle counterclockwise.
97yawnac I just purchased another Ryobi 18volt tools. Right out of the package, the battery took 45 minutes to completely charge.
Nice Video. do you have an update on the sprayer after 3 years? I live in Florida and much treat the outside of my walls twice a years. I did it for the first time a few months ago with a Harbor Freight pump and I don't want to do it again. I am trying to decide if I want to buy the unit you reviewed or the bigger unit. I need to also do the attic. A professional fogger would be great but too expensive. I hear the Ryobi foggers don't do well with herbicides. I still might get one and do a quick light spray in the attic. Its not a space I want to spend much time in. Any suggestions?
Dave still works exactly the same as when I made the video. Love it!
Best review. All my questions have been answered. Thank you
Si Duong thank you so much!!
Everything is fine but, when the sprayer tank is on and we press the trigger to spray, when we release the trigger the pump never stops having to be turned off by hand. ??
The pump should run the entire time the power is on. The nozzle should only spray when the trigger is depressed.
@@houseonthemend thanks you so much

Thank you! The battery is really hard to take out of the unit
Vivek I experienced the same issue.
Ryobi's new line of batteries have addressed that issue.
Thx. How many square feet will one gallon cover? Also, could I use this to spray fertilizer on my lawn or is a hose end sprayer best ?
Seth coverage is based on the product you are spraying. I can easily spray insecticide around the entire house with one gallon. I would not spray fertilizer on a lawn with this because it would take too long. The spray is very concentrated. I would broadcast dry fertilizer or use a garden hose sprayer instead.

Excellent review, thank you!

Great tip
Ridgid has given up so much market share, makes me wonder who is making these bad decisions! Great review!
Thank you so much.
Gonna buy it after watching this .
Terry I hope it works great for you.

Pablo Thanks for the reply!
Pablo thanks for sharing your experience.
Would this be able to dispense snow foam liquid for car washing?
It is intended for water based solutions so it would depend on how thick “snow foam liquid” is.
The snowfoam liquid is like a loose washing up liquid that is mixed with water, it produces the foam at the spray nozzle
I have three of these for different chemicals. ALL THREE HAVE CLOGGED SOLID………… I am going to use the Tractor Supply cleaning solution on them to see if it works. Has no one else seen this problem?
I always flush mine with water after each use and I haven’t had any clogging issues.

You too Dr. Rob!!!
Thank you!
You’re very welcome.
i think the tube is too short so i add a pice of vinyl tube to it and it works perfect

You're showing 4 stacked Rigid batteries and not knowing how to stack 4 Ryobi batteries, well if you take two of them and lay them on their side, they form a square, so just stack another square on that.
Aluisious thanks for the tip! I ended up getting the multi-charger so now I keep my Ryobi batteries attached to that.
Does it have a fan nozzle? How is the fan nozzle? Is it weak or strong?
Joshua there is only one nozzle and it is conical just like typical pump sprayers or handheld spray bottles.
Hey ! can it be used to spray normal tab water only and can this too long pipe be cut short, or sprayer to be used even without this pipe.
Yes it sprays water.

Batrtery removal - I have been noticing that some recent tools lead to a more difficult battery removal. Ryobi is getting sloppy.
I have a much harder time removing my Ridgid batteries.
Don't they make a sprayer for painting DIY speakers boxes and other DIY stuff? They only seem to make them monster sizes. Hopefully, Ryobi will bring something that out to fill a hole in the product line. Or have I missed it?

What’s the trick to get it to prime? On my second one and neither would prime.
No trick. I just turned it on and squeezed the trigger. Try opening the spray nozzle slightly.
If the hose that draws from the tank is connected and not obstructed by something like a shipping cap, I can’t think of a reason why it isn’t working.
Precisely. And there are zero service locations within driving distance. Ryobi expects me to pay for mailing it to a Ryobi service location.
GREETNS, PRAY ALL IS WELL WITH U & YOURS, DOES THE SPRAYER HAVE AN OPTION 4 MISTING OR FOGGING??? IS THERE ANYWAY IT'S POSSIBLE WITH THAT SPRAYER???
BIGBOY the spray nozzle can be adjusted like a hand pump sprayer or spray bottle. I would describe it more like a fan to a stream. If you want fog, Ryobi makes a fogger as well. Model number P2805.
Ryobi makes a separate fogger. This one makes a fine mist, but not a small enough aerosols to be a fog.
It would have been nice to actually see the nozzle and spray mechanism in use. It was demo'd with the wand buried in the bushes. I couldn't see the strength/distance of the spray. Also, the instructions are very murky regarding where the little o rings are positioned. To have shown that would have been good.
Thank you for your feedback.
I have one apple tree quite large. I've not been able to find out the range/distance of the spray.
Minimal pressure and distance similar to a typical hand pump sprayer.
Thanks for your reply. It looks like this may not reach the lengths I will need. Not having to pump is indeed a plus!
If you are spraying with a fungicide against cedar-apple rust,, make sure you buy a systemic fungicide. Spray the lower leaves that are in reach and the chemical will transport through the plant's vascular system and reach the upper leaves.
Excellent review!
Michael thank you so much!
Can you put a different tip on it?
I don’t know. The included tip works great so I’ve never considered an alternate.
I need to spray a tree for sooty mold will this product have the reach of 25'
Amy I doubt it.

I would search for details on the Ryobi Fogger model P2805. I have never used it so I would search on TH-cam for a video.
