Pete is a great coach and an even greater man. This decision by ownership is heartless and stupid. Pete is still hitting on all cylinders and the majority of players and fans will have a hard time accepting the lack of perspective and lack of loyalty shown by management in literally kicking Pete to the curb after all he has done for this organization and continues to do. Money can buy football clubs, but it can't buy honor. I know Pete will be okay and the players will cope and continue to compete. But the management group has lost their way and they've proven that ego trumps loyalty in the NFL. Enjoy your life going forward, Pete. You have a lot left to give.

Pete should have been given one more year to see if he could build on this season's development with the team he has built. People forget that Pete hails from Northern California in Marin County and had a long legacy and tie-ins to all of our coaching staff down the hill. Pete Carroll was our best Seahawks coach ever and I think he still had some great years of coaching left which is sad ! He was a great college football coach and a great NFL football coach and gave us a Superbowl and two super bowl appearances I personally think Russell Wilson savataged alot of shit cause he wanted out and Russell screwed up great players leaving and messing up the team and the coach even tried to get Pete fired !!! I am a 65 yr old NY JET Fan and I watched this press conference video in its entirety. All I can say is Wow, what a Great Coach, leader, and Man!! I will be Dead before the Jets could EVER create a Legacy of relevancy and WINNING CULTURE that Mr. Carroll did in Seattle. Very VERY appropriate clapping at the end by the media there. Just Wow!!!!!

As a long time huge 49ers fan. It's gotta be extremely difficult to not expect this decision to take place for Pete. I liked him at USC, but strongly disagreed with how he left that situation. Being a huge 49ers long time fan, I'll be blunt!, and say that I can't stand what I call the Sea Chickens (Seahawks). But wait! The reason why I despise them so much is because they were always a huge game for the 49ers. A lot of the time they beat us down. You don't hate a team that is always at the bottom of the league. Pete Carroll made the Seattle Seahawks a damn good organization! One to always respect and one that you better bring your A game come game time if you wanted to be the victor. Lastly, getting fired sucks! No matter how much money you already have and how successful you are. Its embarrassing and humbling. This actually is a bit of a shock to me. Did not see this one coming. This seems like a watershed offseason for coaching changes in the NFL. Some big names out there already and my thoughts are that Belichek will join them. Add to that the number of vacancies for head coaches getting pink slips. Judging by comments from fans of other teams around the league, I think its safe to say that you have the respect of so many football fans around the league for the body of work you created in Seattle, WA. You should be extremely proud of that! Many know you are originally a Northern California boy (Marin County, Bay Area) and have ties back to the Niners organization back in the 1980's. Many of us Niners fans are shocked by this announcement today, but want to give you the respect you deserve. The NFC West won't be the same without you in it, but we wish you the best! It's gotta be extremely difficult to not expect this decision to take place for Pete.
I liked him at USC, but strongly disagreed with how he left that situation.
Being a huge 49ers long time fan, I'll be blunt!, and say that I can't stand what I call the Sea Chickens (Seahawks).
But wait! The reason why I despise them so much is because they were always a huge game for the 49ers.
A lot of the time they beat us down.
You don't hate a team that is always at the bottom of the league.
Pete Carroll made the Seattle Seahawks a damn good organization!
One to always respect and one that you better bring your A game come game time if you wanted to be the victor.
Lastly, getting fired sucks!
No matter how much money you already have and how successful you are.
Its embarrassing and humbling.
So to that point, I am sorry for Pete, that the Seahawks organization have decided to go their separate ways.
Pete, time to learn to take on a new chapter in your life, and enjoy your family and life.
You worked your butt off!

Sad day for hawks fans. The organization is going to suffer the repercussions of this decision for awhile. Great coaches don't grow on trees.

This actually is a bit of a shock to me. Did not see this one coming. This seems like a watershed offseason for coaching changes in the NFL. Some big names out there already and my thoughts are that Belichek will join them. Add to that the number of vacancies for head coaches getting pink slips. This should be an extremely interesting offseason. Suspect Carroll will find a job soon. Good luck. Fair winds and following seas to all.

Judging by comments from fans of other teams around the league, I think its safe to say that you have the respect of so many football fans around the league for the body of work you created in Seattle, WA. You should be extremely proud of that! Many know you are originally a Northern California boy (Marin County, Bay Area) and have ties back to the Niners organization back in the 1980's. Many of us Niners fans are shocked by this announcement today, but want to give you the respect you deserve. The NFC West won't be the same without you in it, but we wish you the best! Go enjoy-you've earned it!

As a NINER fan for life I'm glad your retiring because no matter what your team's record was you would give the NINERS a battle and you beat us like 10 out of 12 games years ago..But nothing but the best wishes in the future you made the Seahawks what they are today and thank you for all the memories I will never forget you as one of the best head coaches that ever ran a team his way Good Luck Pete your a hall of fame coach..And like I said I'm a NINER fan that am glad we don't have to play vs you again..
