I'm 16 years 284 days old as of right now. Trying to find out my purpose in my life. My own family is going through financial crisis now. I don't know what to do. This was heck of a video! Can't believe people's like David Goggins mere existence has power to bring hopes to many people throughout this damn rotten cruel world. I'm totally motivated to the fact that I won't be relying on motivation anymore and persuade to cultivate a habit even if it's damn hard, I'll endure, I'll suffer, I'll create a future where my parents can be happy and also hope to discover my purpose. I'll remember that David Goggins was also nobody until he became somebody. Thanks
Good luck for the future, you don't have to have much to be happy, work together as a team as much as possible because it really is hard out here for many. Don't make your self worth or worth about others, everyone is is their own person, don't knock yourself, keep striving and you will find your course. Be humble, it really is the little things and satisfaction with those things that are sweetest. By the way you are somebody my mere dint of being here, you count!
@@PrashantJoshiSomeGuyThough well said...my opinion may not be worth much, but I believe you will achieve greatness. Remember that while you are on your journey and something isn't working, start again, as many times as you have to. Just never stop and I don't think you will stop, your "why" is your fuel. Be proud, stay brave.
This guy is a multimillionaire. He doesn’t need to grind. He keeps grinding and being useful to other people. This is someone to look up to. This guy is a real life hero.
@@DJx6293he’s «happy», he’s found his way. He uses his trauma to his own benefit, and he could actually give some credit to the trauma for pushing him. Without the trauma he would have been a nobody
I am 15 years old now and I am writing this from 2024. This podcast has changed my life, I am forgetting the past and starting to work, I know it will be difficult, but I will try to endure. My goal is to study medicine and become an excellent doctor. I hope I can achieve my goal.
You will endure. It is the only option. You either work to get what you want or you don't. I think you will. It is a mindset and lifestyle change, however. You are going to realize how different you are than everyone else & that is ok. 15 is a hard age. At least it was for me. Just try your best to not get in your own way. Made the hard right decision, not the easy wrong one.
2 months later, this episode literally changed my life. I go for the suck everyday, working out 6 days a week, signed up for half an ironman, and keep on fighting everyday for that perishable skill. 8 months go, i started changing my life around, since then I lost 55 pounds, started cooking, stopped smoking and drinking and did my first triathlon. Let me tell you that this podcast locked in this mindset for the rest of my life. I will never be able to thank you both enough for
Yes i done the same, Gym + Muay Thai + Stretchings routines + i study Computer Science + learning daily 10-15 minutes a new language + if i have time i read a book where iam uneducated. Before this all i was a drug Addict. To hear like its every day a choice again and again was important for me.
I’m “49 and a multi millionaire. I don’t have to do anything.” Blows my mind hearing that flex. He is right. He’s accomplished so much and is STILL pushing a piece of himself. Paramedic? A multi millionaire moving into being a paramedic? Amazing David. Love this man! Thanks for inspiring us DAILY
@@meltygear5955 It’s obvious that it isn’t about money since he only gets paid around 12$ an hour for smoke jumping and it’s probably the most dangerous job in the world. He’s a beast
a powerful question to answer by re-creating a new version of self - giving up those attractive and addictive habits are really hard. thanks for quoting this
I’m 32 and my life is currently in shambles. My addiction to alcohol has been the main culprit. Life got so bad and mentally so dark that I was addicted to escaping reality instead of facing it. Today is day two of sobriety and I am determined to turn this shit around. Watching this podcast for the first time to help me STAY HARD! Good luck to anybody going through it. We will be alright. Just keep truckin 🤘🏻 Update: Today marks 31 days sober. I still have things I need to handle but sobriety was top of the list. Next up is securing a job. Let’s do this! Update 2: Today is October 1st, making it two months of sobriety for me. Still haven’t locked down a better job but I will triumph! Thank you all for the kind words 🙏🏻 Update 3: October 3rd, still sober and got a job interview on the 8th. LFG!! Update 4: I am sorry people, this is not the update you want. I made it sober from August 1st to October 13th. Said fuck it on the 14th and decided to drink. Was able to keep it “under control” for about a month and a half until last Friday (November 22nd) I somehow wound up in self destruct mode and have been excessively drinking ever since. Life is back in a wreck and I am struggling. I didn’t get that job btw. For anyone who cares, next update will be when I am on top again. God bless you all 🙏🏻
Go to an aa meeting , you aren’t the first or last to have trouble with alcohol. Meet some other recovering alcoholics , they can help you change your life
"I realized that my entire life was gonna be a struggle, so I ignored it". For all the neurotic people like me out there, this is the best advice possible. Just accept that you're always going to be anxious and miserable, and use it as a fuel to do something worthwhile. Thank you, David Goggins and Dr. Huberman for an immensely inspiring episode.
Benjamin, it's not about accepting anxiety and misery. Nobody bares being miserable all the time. It's about taking responsability for it. Doing something about it. Making the best of it. Anxiety- when disfunctional- is about feeling small compared to fears, challenges and possibilities. The job is to grow up and become stronger. If you put too much focus on the struggle, you'll miss all the oportunities of growth. Read Tara Brach's "Radical Acceptance". It's an amazing book.
seven months ago I discovered Goggins, feels like ages, can't even recognize myself. started working out, gave up addictions(smoking, drinking), started learning to code for a job transition and I can say with certainty that no matter what happens now I am not stopping. this world is full of suffering and I will choose my own suffering or life will choose it for me. for me and so many people like me who went through abusive households, racism, depression, and hopelessness all we ever needed was proof that it could be done what this guy did. best of luck, see ya.
Boy isn't that a dark truth. To live is to suffer. The gift life gives is the option to choose how we suffer. We either suffer through the climb to the top. Or suffer at the bottom. No way out.
Beautiful perspective. Your renewed mindset will certainly take you far. I have no degree and by grace, managed to break into tech. All the best with your journey💖
I sent the clip about studying with ADD to my add daughter. She beats herself up that it takes her twice as long to memorize/ learn something it takes everyone else. Mind you she has all A’s all thanks to discipline. Now I can show her this incredible human being & how he tackled that challenge. Step 1- stop feeling sorry for yourself & embrace the pain. Goggins, Ive read both of your books inside out, got the guts and discipline to study medicine at 46, write a book, and heal my own goddamn autoimmune diseases. Now I coach others how to do it. Keep inspiring us brother!
This has to be the greatest video of 2024. The anger, the rage and the pain in David's eyes and words is moving. Gonna go over this one again and again.
Incredibly moving. Everyone can resonate with what was said, even though we may never see things like David does. The passion in this episode hits hard.
Andrew is the best interviewer I have ever heard. He prepares well for the interview, puts emphasis on the guests and does not interrupt over over talk them.
One of the best things about this podcast is Andrews ability to give David the space to vent and express himself. Andrew is a great listener and I'm glad David has been able to tell his story even after years of trauma.
Agreed. This level of raw emotion is difficult to put in words, so big up to Huberman for his interviewing skills and for giving David a platform to fully express himself.
Andrew is the best. A perfect example of an intellectual, an accomplished man and a skilled conversationalist. I so appreciate the way he insists on breaking it down for his lay audience. Makes it more interesting and encourages one to listen to the end and even want more . It's pretty frustrating and boring when folks begin to talk to each other forgetting that "we" may not know what certain terms and theories mean. Andrew is always aware of that and insists certain words, concepts etc be explained and/or defined.
I love this interview with David Goggins. I have a teenage nephew who is on the spectrum with autism. He was overweight depressed, he lost his father, his Uncle, his Gramps and his mother is an addict. His granny is raising him. He has lost over 50 pounds. He watches what he eats. He’s all into learning and he carries David Goggins book with him everywhere❤️ I’m going to listen to this podcast again with him.
This whole podcast my biggest take-away has been: "I'm wasting time listening to this podcast - I know what I have to do, but instead I'm doing exactly what Goggins is describing - I'm wasting time listening and theorizing instead of getting up and getting after it." I'm the "I'll go at the quarter hour" kind of person Andrew described. I love my downtime too much. Goggins inspires me more than I inspire myself, and I think that's the problem I (and many others) have. Goggins is telling us to leave him alone as much as possible and go do what we know we ought to as much as possible. Thanks Goggins, and thanks Andrew. I'm gonna go now. Happy 2024, folks.
I don't think what he was saying was to inspire yourself but to slowly build sheer destructive willpower through putting yourself into the suffering and specifically targeting what you hate the most like he says how he hates running and how there's no motivation no passion no dopamine at 300 pounds at least that's what I took from it and lots more
*WORD OF ADVICE* : the mindset of a hard worker doesn't care that today is January 1. Doesn't matter what day it is. You put in as much energy today as you do on March 8 and October 23. Its everyday for the rest of your life and the faster you learn to be ok with that, that easier it gets. Stay hard!

Andrew, this one is going to be very difficult to top. I'm a 76 year old woman who is ultra inspired by this young man....David Goggins. He is one of a kind with much to offer the world. I will watch this again and again. I was touched to see his sensitivity and emotion surface from time to time. Thank you for this, Andrew. Please bring him back.
It took me about 2-3 years to finally understand that improving yourself isn't supposed to be fun - thanks David, going to stop looking for the fun & lose myself in the work.
The comments he makes about 'hacks' key into our modern view that there's a 'smart' solution for everything. No. It's willpower. Visualise your end destination and then do the hard work to get there. No excuses. Every day. That is the only surefire route to success.
Tom Platz once said "If you feel that you could've done more, then you are a loser". Success isn't a fun process, but the results you get are worth it. It's not "do it and continue living mediocre life", it's a lifestyle.
After reading Goggins “Can’t Hurt Me” it changed my life. I was stuck in a bad place inside my mind. I limited myself and my beliefs. I was hanging drywall, hating my job. Didn’t think I could be anything more. After reading his book, I was so inspired that at 27 I decided to go to college for the first time. I told myself for yearssssss I was never good at school I could never do it, but after his book I stopped believing that bullshit. I’m currently going for my associates degree, looking to graduate the PTA program. 3.92 GPA, and I’m focused as fuck! It’s not easy, and there are sacrifices that have to be made every day to keep pursuing my college career. But it’s fucking worth it. When Goggins says in this interview, some will understand me and grow from this guy. That’s exactly what I did. Thank you Goggins for everything you do and the inspiration you give so many people. I believe God, or whoever your higher power is, works through people. And that’s what’s happening with Goggins here. Let’s fucking GO!!!
You aren't. Life makes us think this way, there are actual dumb and weird people out there, like people who walk in broad daylight naked without a care in the world in the middle of a city. If those people can be that shameless and carefree, then I never had anything to be afraid in the first place.
It's amazing that the public defines this person by his willpower and physical prowess. In my opinion, his strength comes from his constant and deep introspection. His self-awareness is remarkable especially when you factor in his disabilities.
After a life of abuse. Having no shield from the world. 4 gunshot wounds including a .44 to the face. I totally relate. Over the last 10 years of following people like him I've been able to overcome mountains. I'm still going. Thank you David G
Both my parents died on the same day last year, while moving all their stuff into a storage unit i was on the verge of giving up, David screaming in my brain "WHOS GONNA CARRY THE BOATS" got me through it
That’s crazy I’m sorry for your loss but in the end you will be stronger and possibly a person someone else can lean toward during their time of loss you got this man
I love how raw he is in this podcast. He holds NOTHING back. The thing that hit me the hardest was when he said "You know EXACTLY what to do. You just don't want to do it."
It's true to me man. Sure we all could use guidance and it is true that none of us knows it all. But - there are certain tasks you could do RIGHT NOW that you now you should do. You just don't want to. Start there@@Darkloid21

"Most people are missing something because they don't know who they are." The most powerful and truthful statement in this entire podcast. Thank you again, Goggins!!! Moreover, Andrew did his best job in this interview! His interview skills were nearly perfect! Demonstrated patience, deep listening, clarified ideas, allowed Goggins to express himself, asked hard questions, and helped the audience see who Goggins really is. 62 yr women here. Much appreciation for this powerful discussion. Take away for me.."Ya gotta look in the cupboards of your unconscious mind and it's really scary in there. Be extremely diligent of what you put into acton. The truth in front of me sucks. It's painful and and that's the truth. Pinpoint your next move and have the courage, motivation, discipline, and mindset to grind it. I know what I know." Lots of insight to what and how Goggins ticks. Loved it!
My 5th grade teacher, Mr. Brown taught me a phrase that always stuck with me and has helped me in so many areas of my life. “The difference between successful and unsuccessful people is that those that are successful can make themselves do the things they don’t want to do.”
Living with ADHD I can relate so much to this. Not being able to retain information, studying day and night just to be average. Pushing through this world to keep up with the pace that gets faster year by year. Made me in tears this episode. Thank you Hubermanlab and David Goggins

I've got a mystery form of retinitis pigmentosa which basically means I'm going blind. Every day is a battle to want to survive, and then survive, and then to make something of myself. And stupid as it is, David makes me so glad to feel like I'm not alone. There's a hardness that becomes part of you, and I'm tired of being so tough, but there's something in me that refuses to give up. I ain't letting go. And he gives me hope that one day I'll find myself in the company of people who understand me.
Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future.
Man David Goggins is so inspiring. As someone who's a slow learner and probably has lower IQ, him being so true to himself and openness about his learning difficulties and still tries regardless is just amazing and admirable
IQ is overrated, you could be a genius but without drive it's useless! Apps like Elevate and Lumosity can help sharpen your maths, problem solving, mental flexibility etc and they are free. Just set aside 30 mins every day to train your brain and you will be amazed.
I listen to this at least once a week, David Goggins keeps saying he isn't smart, but this man is a goddamn genius. The wisdom here is priceless. God bless you all, stay hard, stay humble, go get it!

This is what parents of every adhd kid should show them! You're not broken... you are playing life on hard mode, but you also get hard mode rewards. Fight, don't stop. Soon, you'll be on top.
@@visionofdisorder That comment wasn't about the paltry rewards the human expierence can put physically in your hand... rewards come in many and multiple dimensions.
Once you get over the possibility of being attacked or exposed physically or emotionally you are able to move forward without fear. David has mastered this and can proceed to open up with brutal honesty. Most of us fear being honest because of the judgement from others, once you are honest, you are finally free to live.
As an addiction counselor (who is not in recovery) your teachings are the core in my psycho-education groups. Anxiety, trauma, cold exposure, discipline, etc..... I use all of your teachings in attempts to educate and motivate my clients to be aware and discover areas of themselves in need of more strength to fight addiction.
I think the big takeaways from Goggins' life are 1) life sucks, so embrace it 2) you just gotta do it. No more books or seminars. Getting it done is the only way to do get it done.
Embrace your own unique mind and discover your own unique algorithms, patterns, and internal dialogue to get the though hard situations. Conquer your fear of the unknown by leaning into fear, discomfort and pain. Discover what’s truly on that other side of pure hell and suffering
Theres more. You have to do it alone there will be no one in your corner while you work they will only be there after you achieve success. Be upfront to your loved ones about your intentions and share your goals with them so they know what to expect after you take care of ALL of their needs. If you want to keep the mindset you have then youll need to continue to do those things you hate to do not just the ones you enjoy. This podcast put into words something I've been grappling with for a while. Everywhere we look we see "stop being so hard on yourself." I went to therapy because I felt overweight, lazy, depressed, and directionless. The therapist said look at your life, you have a good job, a house, you have so many good things, so stop being hard on yourself, treat yourself, be kind to yourself, blah blah blah. Work to silence this part of yourself, and you'll be happy. No friction needed. So I stopped being hard on myself, stopped criticizing myself, I started following my base wants and desires. At first I had a little bit of positive feelings, but in the long run, I've turned into an even more overweight, lazy, depressed, directionless lump. I stopped thinking about myself and my life, stopped pushing myself. It's like I dissociated into a mildly pleasant frictionless life. I have no purpose, no meaning, no goals, no anything but go to work, eat the easiest meals, watch TV, look at my phone, and waste my money on junk. I'm sure my capitalist society loves me for it--thinks I'm perfect just like this--but I hate it. I hate myself and the life I've created. All in the spirit of not being hard on myself. All in the spirit of "give yourself some grace," as my therapist loved to put it. I'm not a piece of shit, but I sure have been acting like one, and I'm done.
It’s my 2nd time listening. Every time I hear David Goggins, life gets simple. The obstacle is the way. Suffer to get there & find comfort in the uncomfortable. It’s exciting to think about. I know I haven’t worked hard enough. To know that’s the only thing in my way makes me excited for the challenge.
I must say I have a different perspective. For me it's about the journey, NOT the goal. Everyone always asks "what is your goal in life?". I think it's the wrong question to ask. A better question is "What journey in life do you want to go on?". The reason I think this is better is because most of your life is a journey, so you better enjoy the journey! Let's say your goal is to reach top of Mount Everest. Does it REALLY matter if you reach the top? For me, I'm happy to go half way, I still enjoyed the journey. The goal, lasts maybe one day, the journey can be weeks or months. I'm writing a book at the moment. I'm enjoying the journey. Do I need a goal that the book has to be out in 6 months, or it needs so many readers or be a best seller? No! If you enjoy the journey, quite often a successful by product will happen naturally, but pressuring yourself to have a painful journey to meet a goal is looking at life from the wrong angle. Just my opinion.
@@wrfootball3847 I love the perspective. I’m wondering how can one switch from seeking a goal to enjoying the journey ? I think society as a whole glorifies the goal 100% I do too. But enjoying the journey sounds more peaceful. But the question is How can I enjoy the journey without the goal ? Or enjoy the journey without a reward ? It’s not easy to digest because there’s no goal during the suck ?
@@wrfootball3847 If you set yoyrself a goal and you are happy if you only make it half way but then you are happy with the journey, then don't make the goal because that is just a weak mindset. If you set yourself a goal you need to tell yourself you are gonna achieve it and grit your teeth in the hard moments and eventually achieve the goal u set out to achieve! STAY HARD

Life is not suck…just how you look at it…do mindfulness daily at least 15-30 mins a day…self-talk and self-care…you will understand yourself better…Good luck…
This reminded me of a girl who had down's syndrome, and scored the best math exam result when I was a teenager attending school. The math teacher was furious because this girl had exposed all of us. Everything was so hard for her that she had to apply additional discipline to stay level with us. Except in this case she surpassed us all. If we all had failed the exam it cold have been argued that it was too hard, or something went wrong with the lessons. But she outshined us all, and made clear that we were just not disciplined enough.
With all due respect I suspect you are confusing general autism with down's syndrome. It's possible for an autistic person to be skilled (or develop skills) in some areas and to develop something like the will-power that Goggins talks about. But Down's Syndrome is a different matter. Still, your example does highlight the power of a strong will and discipline!

This is all i need. I will not ever consume or care about self improvement content again. I don't need it. I never did. Already listened to the podcast ( while working of course) for 3 times and i will keep on listening to it until I internalize everything.
David Goggins is an absolute legend. I’ve seen clips of him but until this interview didn’t realize the struggles he had to overcome and still overcomes. He is an inspiration of a human to us all. May we all learn from his story and apply it to overcome the struggles in our own lives.
I always thought the little clips that popped up in my feed were kinda cringe. Then I decided to get his first book and it changed me for the better. Absolute legend.
This explains why I lost everything after doing all these things to change my life. My motto was “action before motivation” I remember when I had created what I felt was my ideal life, I was so grateful but I had this nagging doubt saying “your life is too easy now” - by the time the inevitable storm of adverse life conditions hit me again I couldn’t withstand it. I ended up right back where I started after 24 years. And yes the only way out was to go back to the basics of “action before motivation”. “Going back to the pain is a must” this is so true. Complacency is dangerous
"There are no hacks, it's you against you. You against you." This was the first interview I've ever heard with David Goggins; I'm SO glad I watched this. It's one of the best podcast episodes I've listen to. Ever. What a great way to start 2024.
I was on my level up journey when I started to read Cant Hurt Me and man… it really hit me. All this journey, all alone, was so difficult but this book helped me to develop my own voice, to be my own cheerleader. I also understand when he says « I have to do it because I am not like this » he have to show up everyday to not return to David Goggins. I feel that in my soul because it’s the same for me. I was lazy, I was not able to finish what I’ve started, I had plenty of traumas to heal, I was weak AF… Now I show up everyday and it’s crazy the effect it had on my brain. Even when things go wrong, I feel the emotion but I am never overwhelmed by it. To become stronger is really the most beautiful thing you can do for yourself. ❤
David is always so inspiring cause he starts way below anybody else and gets things more than most of us just by sheer determination, constance and execution.
I’m a 65 yr old long haul trucker and this message completely resonates. The part about brain development and embracing the suck is exactly what I need. Life changing pod. THANK YOU!!!
@@jodydulceak4171 But he can't. As an example, no matter how hard he tried, he can't ever become a physicist or doctor, let alone finish a college degree with a respectable GPA. Which is why he sticks with paramedic school - which is cool in itself, though if he wanted to help people he could do lots more with his multi millions of $, broad reach, and ample free time. Influencers are mostly useless imho but if you have a broad reach, you should have a better message than aimlessly grinding yourself into oblivion.
@@rutvin8763using his money to donate is like giving food to a begger for one day and he starves for the rest of his life. unless he finds a way to earn money he is going to stay on the streets. Also grinding yourself to oblivion is bad when you are doing it wrong way. If you listened to the podcast CAREFULLY , he said that you know how to do it , then you grind. Hope i cleared the misconception
@rutvin8763 It's not aimlessly though. People do have a purpose when trying to achieve a goal, just like he has all his life. He explains it on his books. Also, wanting to learn and keep learning all your life is something that many of us strive for. He doesn't want to be a surgeon. What is wrong with being a paramedic? He is learning a lot!! Knowledge that he hasn't had. He doesn't have to do what you or anybody else tells them to do. He doesn't want to be a doctor or anything else. Plus, what does GPA have to do with everything he has accomplished? I value him more for his mindset and what he has done than a stupid GPA. I've met so many good for nothing ppl with high GPA but don't know what to do with their lives. Settled for horrible jobs and criticize people behind a screen all the time instead of getting off their butts to do something for themselves.
@@GreyzaP Seems like you completely missed the point of my comment. I was responding to person above saying he can do anything he sets his mind to, and I responded with examples of things he'd never be able to achieve no matter how hard he tried. Also, it seems like you're offended by the mere concept of GPA; to some extent I agree it doesn't mean much, but it's a widely accepted metric for proficiency in college level coursework, which itself is a benchmark for competence needed for desirable jobs. Being a paramedic is cool and is crucial for society, and I'd respect if an average Joe takes up the job. But Goggins is a multimillionaire influencer with a broad reach and ample free time; if he truly wants to help people he can direct that reach and resources to spread positive messages like looking after your mental health and seeking social support or therapy when needed.
I feel this is the most hardcore I've ever seen David Goggins in a podcast and I've seen every single podcast he's been to. The "Sorry I'm not sorry" attitude and speech, the "I've done all those things to become a strong man so that's why I don't feel sorry for you if you don't" stuff and everything else have probably not been more badass delivered by David, ever. He detests mediocrity and doesn't shy away from telling us straight up that we either grind to become hard like him or we don't, that's it, it's our choice. No hidden agenda or mean intentions, David Goggins is 100% real. If now people don't understand what David Goggins is all about, not even after watching this, then it will probably never happen. He rarely does podcasts these days, he probably felt he said everything there is. I understood David right from the start, I've never been confused about his message, I've never seeing him like probably other people see him (a guy who only works out all day, run and yells at the camera), I knew from the beginning what part that had in everything. Because this is not all he does. It's just a part of his life. However, I feel that this group of people is small, from all the comments I've read. Majority of people get the point, some of them have started already doing stuff, losing weight etc. I'm glad to be part of a world where David Goggins exists. He is needed.
Former service member born in Chicago and learned how sometimes cursing is just an adjective replacement and part of the back stage, at home conversation. When used in this light it is inviting someone into the back stage real you. Thank you for the disclaimer, still watching. Cursing is also a habit that is contagious so I need to forcefully remind myself not to bring this part of my communication to the forefront for the next few days after listening. Edit to add: Wow, hearing David talk about how he studies makes me wonder if I also had his learning style. I did poorly in h.s. but, when I went for a basic ambulance class I "DUG" in because I had such drive to do it, (then likewise for my subsequent degrees.) Learning is hard and takes much effort but, when given that effort and things are really in there and you know it... its truly amazing because no one can take it away from you. I feel the same way about fitness milestones. When YOU know what you are made of, and what you can do both physically and mentally then you have a special kind of freedom. Next thing, is finding friends who have it in common, that is a blessing.

No fancy words, no temporarily working motivational talk, only bare truth no matter how bitter it may be for many to handle. I love his true real-life warrior mindset and the suffering that comes with it, which can truly change one's life.
The key message of David is to set goals and stick to them no matter what. Total focus and effort. Zero distractions 24/7. Demons will come but just keep going, even after slaying them!
No he didn’t. There was no advice. He said exactly the opposite thing. He said go into yourself and look for a spark. And if you truly find anything just remember that it’ll suck everyday to fully inflame it.
In "the praise that coming from outside" part, they are talking about the locus of control and i always thought that it's just the way I were but I was wrong. The inner locus of control was a thing that I must build up. I have been watching the interview three days in a row with taking notes of keywords. Thank you a lot for sharing these experiences with us im so great full to able to watch this video❤
I'm 58 a female and at one point I weighed 300 lbs. I'm only 5' tall! I have MS and have been in a nursing home 3 separate times. When I left the last time I couldn't walk 50' without someone in each arm and a wheelchair behind me. I was bedridden for 10 years. I decided I wasn't going out that way. I walked halfway to my neighbors house. Long story short,I ultimately ended up waking from my home back to same nursing home. When I walked in, Noone knew who I was! They thought I was there to visit someone! The director of the PT department had me walk for him. I quote, "If I hadn't seen it for myself, it's never believed it! You're the closest thing to an honest to God miracle that I've ever seen!" That was years ago. I've been great ever since the moment I made the choice! Thank you, David, for keeping it real!!
That's a really great story. You'll know more than me but I've suspected AutoImmune issues are the body's manifestation of the mind's attack on oneself. Do you think there is any truth in that?.
Not understanding how anyone could hate him or call him crazy or not believe because at 56 years old, this is the first motivational talk I’ve ever heard that I actually think is going to change things for me
I was getting apathetic because of my current job and life situation. No more. I will change my life and become my best self. Thank you Goggins and Huberman.

Nice! Two of my favorite people on the Internet in one podcast 🔥 I fell into a bad place with both my mental and physical health about a year ago. Goggins is one of the biggest inspirations that got me out of that place. I was able to lose 40 lbs busting my ass working out twice a day no matter what. I hope he knows how many people he’s helped. And fuck the haters.

I am 15 years old now and I am writing this from 2024. This podcast has changed my life, I am forgetting the past and starting to work, I know it will be difficult, but I will try to endure. My goal is to study medicine and become an excellent doctor. I hope I can achieve my goal.
You should read his book "can't hurt me"
You will endure.
Good luck! Keep being resilient, for yourself! Meanwhile, I'm trying to be a great guitar player one day.
Blessings🙏🏻 the fact that you’re 15 watching and absorbing the information in this video shows you’ll go far!!
@symbol9new maybe even start with his second (audio) book. It's amazing
I will never be able to thank you both enough for
You're also inspiring! Cheers brother, and keep it going!

Just keep truckin 🤘🏻
Update: Today marks 31 days sober. I still have things I need to handle but sobriety was top of the list. Next up is securing a job. Let’s do this!
Update 2: Today is October 1st, making it two months of sobriety for me. Still haven’t locked down a better job but I will triumph! Thank you all for the kind words 🙏🏻
Update 3: October 3rd, still sober and got a job interview on the 8th.

I entirely agree with you my friend🔨💪
That's right, he is a wonderful person who inspires me and many others
Agree! Inspiring it is.
I agree. Hit me hard.
seven months ago I discovered Goggins, feels like ages, can't even recognize myself. started working out, gave up addictions(smoking, drinking), started learning to code for a job transition and I can say with certainty that no matter what happens now I am not stopping. this world is full of suffering and I will choose my own suffering or life will choose it for me. for me and so many people like me who went through abusive households, racism, depression, and hopelessness all we ever needed was proof that it could be done what this guy did. best of luck, see ya.
❤
Boy isn't that a dark truth. To live is to suffer. The gift life gives is the option to choose how we suffer.
We either suffer through the climb to the top. Or suffer at the bottom. No way out.

He never wanted to vent up after trauma dude! He was saying this.. Trying to convey this only all through this podcast!
Andrew Huberman is so versatile and expanding himself everyday all while giving us such insights...
How he stretched "Don't be a bitch" "Don't want to, then fuck you," into 2.5 hours is the most impressive part.

I love this interview with David Goggins. I have a teenage nephew who is on the spectrum with autism. He was overweight depressed, he lost his father, his Uncle, his Gramps and his mother is an addict. His granny is raising him. He has lost over 50 pounds. He watches what he eats. This whole podcast my biggest take-away has been:
"I'm wasting time listening to this podcast - I know what I have to do, but instead I'm doing exactly what Goggins is describing - I'm wasting time listening and theorizing instead of getting up and getting after it."
I'm the "I'll go at the quarter hour" kind of person Andrew described.
Stay hard!
I don't think what he was saying was to inspire yourself but to slowly build sheer destructive willpower through putting yourself into the suffering and specifically targeting what you hate the most like he says how he hates running and how there's no motivation no passion no dopamine at 300 pounds at least that's what I took from it and lots more
Exactly. Stay hard!

If those people can be that shameless and carefree, then I never had anything to be afraid in the first place.

Once you get over the possibility of being attacked or exposed physically or emotionally you are able to move forward without fear. This podcast really opened my eyes. David is an incredible human being, and if everyone were so determined as him, the world would be a better place.
I believe David is more then determined. If you look just a bit deeper, he is a very kind and sensitive man.
I think the big takeaways from Goggins' life are
1) life sucks, so embrace it
2) you just gotta do it.
If you ever get stuck in life you need to switch up how you are motivating yourself because youre aiming for the same thing everyday and you need to switch how you do it in order to finish the end result without fail.

The pain of discipline is better than the pain of regret. Words to live by
Jin Rohn's quote
❤❤❤❤ Now what are you going to do about it?
Being hard on yourself in the pursuit of growth is absolutely key. And, growth is suffering, growth is change. Your brain wont like it. You got this!

STAY HARD

As, I have been trying to figure out what is Will Power and how to apply this to my life!
Sending you divine Love and Light David for switching on the light on in me.
This man tells it how it is. Life sucks and it’s hard , but you get what you put into it . Stay hard
Life is not suck…just how you look at it…do mindfulness daily at least 15-30 mins a day…self-talk and self-care…you will understand yourself better…Good luck…
Bro life fucking sucks
This reminded me of a girl who had down's syndrome, and scored the best math exam result when I was a teenager attending school. The math teacher was furious because this girl had exposed all of us. Everything was so hard for her that she had to apply additional discipline to stay level with us. Except in this case she surpassed us all. If we all had failed the exam it cold have been argued that it was too hard, or something went wrong with the lessons. But she outshined us all, and made clear that we were just not disciplined enough.
$
STAY HARD
And that teacher's name? Albert Einstein.
Really!!!!
Felt like shit today. Got away from everyone for some alone time, sat on it a bit and realized that it was coming from feeling tired. Tired of not doing anything to change for the better. Tired of telling myself the same lies every day. Needed to hear this. Thank you!
this ongod
You got this brother!! Build strength and good luck!
Good luck on your journey man
Go get it. Stay hard!
Im addicted to goggin sir's voice . When my mind hears his voice, dude i get that fire🔥
I’m a 64 year old woman. I love this man. I so resonate with his statement about his anger - it’s there and always will be. And he’s not apologizing to anyone. ❤
Dr. Huberman knew what he was doing. He was sitting on this content and planned perfectly when to drop it. Thank you for helping all who view this, start of the year great. I will watch this multiple time thru out January…. I hope everyone who watches this, implement it long after they watch this video. May you all use this video to power thru your entire year
Yes indeed! This really got me going today!
Man it resonated inside my head when he said : you're lazy, you know exactly what you have to do... it just sucks to do it... The realest thing i have ever heard. Most of the times we all know the anwsers to our problem we're just hiding from it and waiting for a magic pill or a miracle.
THIS PODCAST CHANGED MY LIFE!!!! I FOUND MY 3RD VOICE AND LISTENING TO IT EVERYDAY.
May we all learn from his story and apply it to overcome the struggles in our own lives.
definitely read the book if you have not yet❤
Yeh dude, you’ve got to listen to his first book at least
Goggins abandoned his daughter. He is a quitter in my book. Im oldskool though.
@@durianridersthe story is different than what you think. To be honest, she was my neighbor and trust me is not even close to what you think.
You against you."
This was the first interview I've ever heard with David Goggins; I'm SO glad I watched this.
I also jumped at this phrase: I never stopped the effort because I will just go back to my "real" self. He never forgets.
Only Huberman can perform such a poetic and masterful autopsy of the limitless mind that is Goggins. Grateful for this conversation.
David Goggins is the human representation of the phrase " just do it"
Along with, "you can do anything you set your mind to."
David Goggins, omygosh, sickle cell, I had no clue!!

He hit the nail on the head at 38:30 to 40:57. I think that is one of the most resonating things that I've ever heard in my entire life on a personal level that is. Glad I stuck around for this podcast.

Thanks a lot for the primer on the conversation with timestamps. Super helpful 👍
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this.
No fancy words, no temporarily working motivational talk, only bare truth no matter how bitter it may be for many to handle. I love his true real-life warrior mindset and the suffering that comes with it, which can truly change one's life.
Exactly. It’s hard to be the better version of ourselves but worth it AF.
The key message of David is to set goals and stick to them no matter what. Total focus and effort. Zero distractions 24/7. Demons will come but just keep going, even after slaying them!
I'm Gay!🎉
No he didn’t. There was no advice. He said exactly the opposite thing.
He said go into yourself and look for a spark. And if you truly find anything just remember that it’ll suck everyday to fully inflame it.
In "the praise that coming from outside" part, they are talking about the locus of control and i always thought that it's just the way I were but I was wrong. The inner locus of control was a thing that I must build up. I have been watching the interview three days in a row with taking notes of keywords. Thank you a lot for sharing these experiences with us im so great full to able to watch this video❤
I don't want to do it, I HAVE to do it. That's the core right there.
Nah that’s the thing, you don’t have to, and you don’t want to. Do it anyways
Its so hard sometimes though
and "we all know what we have to do". truths that sting like F but are all we need to hear.
TOTALLY !!🔥🔥🔥🤬🤬💪🏾💯
That's genuinely amazing.
That's a really great story. You'll know more than me but I've suspected AutoImmune issues are the body's manifestation of the mind's attack on oneself. Do you think there is any truth in that?.
