- Pokemon Singles Competitive has seen one of its central threats now eliminated. With Chien-Pao gone many Pokemon are thriving in this new ecosysytem, Amoonguss being one of them. Let's build a team with this Magnificent Mushroom. His name sounds similar to hit game Among Us. Many Pokemon TH-camrs would make a funny reference to this. Jim Cool would never make such an obvious joke, however.

Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on TH-cam. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

I‘ve been testing Bax for a while in preparation for Chien-Pao ban and I got to a similiar result as you. Adamant Choice Band with 2-3 pivots in the team threatens a kill everytime it comes in.

I’ve been using a niesh team with Komala to counter Amongus, and it can do it really well. It’s got Comatose, which allows it to not me statused and it’s got great coverage overall. I’ve tried Stockpile sets (with Sucker Punch for Pult), stall sets with Bulk Up and Rapid Spin, etc… Thing is, Physical Attackers Counters it hard, like Breloom, Great Tusk, and even Chief Pao before the ban. You’d need a lot of team support for it, and although it has far more coverage than Garganacl, it’s just worse because of its stats.

Not gonna lie, I like clicking Nuzzle for those demons that pivot their Hatts, and their Dirge.
I’ve been using Amoonguss on my team, and idk if it’s just because I’m bad, but it’s my last Pokémon 90% of the time, and sometimes end up finishing the last two mons in closer games

@Giwrgos Petrou Well that is pretty good on its own, but should also be a safe mortal spin n nuzzle switch ins. Albeit not very common can be useful.
Should also be good in Hatt vs Hatt with mystical fire immunity.

Sap sipper Goodra is actually a good counter to Amoonguss because it’s immune to all its grass moves and can easily force it out or KO it with a fire move.
Goodra cannot kill an amoongus with some fire coverage
@@nicholassaucedo9184 it’s normally an easy two shot in my experience. While Amoonguss can’t do anything back.
@@bennconner1195 your opponent can just switch, though. Plus, the shroom has Regenerator.
@@senny- yeah but I genuinely just get a free hit on whatever they bring in. The fact that Goodra can force out Amoonguss is nice. It fits well on a steel, fairy, dragon defensive core. Especially if your fairy can provide wish support. I imagine Hisui Goodra will be an even better counter because you’d be completely immune to both Amoonguss’s grass and poison moves.

Chien Pao was way, way too OP. nothing outspeeds it and it hits like a truck. Glad they finally banned icicle cat
Honestly, I don’t think espathra should have been banned
Orthoworm was able to provide it with easy entry and that’s how it gets going (not saying it should have been banned in Espathra’s place)
However, there is a huge flaw for both: they are vulnerable to taunt users
Having a decently fast taunt user (even with a stat of 65) you’re out speeding a lot of the Pokémon that make espathra dangerous like Orthoworm and Grimmsnarl. Plus a lot of Espathra EV in bulk, so unless they carry protect you are going to prevent them from setting up calm minds even behind a substitute. Taunt isn’t just useful for Espathra teams, it’s also useful for stealth rock garganacl, Defog corviknight, and of course Amoonguss!
Yes because always having your taunt user already in when they switch in their grimmsnarl or orthworm is reliable counter play.

Gen 9 is so disappointing.
There are plenty of good offensive Pokemon in the game still that aren't banworthy
The metagame actually feels far more varied without Chien-Pao having a monopoly on offense
Top level games were literally all Band Chien-Pao mirrors and Tera Dark Crunch spam, it was getting ridiculous
