Having driven EV's since 2017.. this is hilarous. I had a petrol loaner a few months ago, going out of my way to fill it was a major chore and shockingly expensive. I just charge at home for pennies (or work for free). It's less than 30 seconds to plug it in couple times a week.
Indeed, the average EV driver spends less time waiting while charging in a year than an ICE driver. Tesla Bjorn's tests show long range Tesla's taking approx an hour longer over a 1000km journey than an ICE that doesn't stop, due to charging. So that's an extra hour driving from Dundee to lands End (a 12 hour journey)
@@joeynessily lots of people have absolutely no way of charging at home and you sanctimonious lot can't seem to understand this. Until the problem is solved thats why we need ICE cars.
But this simply isn't true. I spend far _less_ time 'filling up' - Having had my Long Range Model Y for over a year, I can honestly say that I've spend no time at all waiting for it to charge. I just plug it in at night, and every morning I have a fully-fuelled car for my daily needs. Who needs more than 300 miles a day and needs to charge away from home? (Probably less that 1% of the population) It's the exception to the norm for sure. I used to spend >£300 a month on diesel, I now spend £20 a month (thanks to Octopus charging me just 7p a kwh for EV charging!) My diesel car is far less convenient, having to go to the petrol station is a genuine chore that I don't have with the EV.
I mean, he was literally describing what he was feeling while driving the car. It might not align with what you want to hear about it, but I have no reason to disbelieve the reviewer.
I’ve had a RWD for 18 months and this review exactly explains my experience, on anything other than a smooth road the suspension is very poor. Road noise is also not great.
Can Tesla not bring out something which is smaller ? I always think their cars are too big for UK roads. The design looks like a modern day Fiat Strada.
Didn’t musk let his design team go last year sometime. These cars are dull as dishwater and plug ugly. They may be efficient and have the charging network but if you like driving in general there are far better options available and for less money. The ride quality alone is a deal breaker.
I came very close to ordering a Y in 2022. I took one for a test drive, and I decided, despite the vehicle's other strengths, that I could't live with the harsh ride. I bought a BMW i4 instead (with adaptive dampers!) I have no regrets, particularly after how it has become apparent how abhorrent Elon Musk is - I am not giving that man a penny of my money.
This is the problem Tesla now faces. A few years ago there was nothing to compare to Tesla. Now other manufacturers have caught up and Tesla is looking rather tired and non-desirable.
@@thejammod Clearly, I do, and it would be enough to sway me away from buying a Tesla (or using X), no matter how good they are. Your moral threshold may be lower than mine; and that's perfectly fine, you do you, but don't force your moral standards on me.
Electric cars need very little maintenance, trouble is the networks of most of the manufacturers rely on maintenance to stay in business, so need the manufacturers to put a needless maintenance contract in place. A lot, lot less. This test shows 3 miles per kwh and with a 75kwh battery; that gives 225 miles in autumn weather. In winter that will drop to way below 200, a long way from the advertised 373. Couple that with 10% - 80% charge cycles and it's still truly appalling range. Also, it's OK talking about the great Tesla Supercharger network, but it's concentrated into certain areas and isn't widely available around most of the UK.
I own a Mercedes V6 SLK petrol and a turbo diesel SUV and a one year old Tesla Y, so I can give a balanced opinion. No question the Y is the better car 99% of the time and a more fun drive than the SLK ( does nt sound as nice as the V6 with the top down but music is better!) Mine has LFP battery so charges to 100% all the time, Its easy to get 4 miles per kw hour. In cold weather about 10% or so less depending on the need to heat the car and road conditions and how cold it is.
Mine has a smaller battery 60kW and does 240 miles mixed real-world normal driving 200 plus cold weather. 0% battery degradation in 12 months as well, battery degradation is another exaggerated myth by EV haters. If cold weather range is a concern note that 90% of new cars in Norway, where winters are very cold, are EVs and the Y the most popular so its just not a problem.

It's almost like there's a new model coming 🙄
Y this headline?! 😮
It can be more perfect than any car in the world but charging is a major inconvenience for a lot of us compared with 3 minutes at the pump
I used to spend >£300 a month on diesel, I now spend £20 a month (thanks to Octopus charging me just 7p a kwh for EV charging!)
My diesel car is far less convenient, having to go to the petrol station is a genuine chore that I don't have with the EV.
My car can be, and is exclusively, refueled while I sleep. It couldn't be MORE convenient.
metric please
Doesn't look like a suv....
This review is an utter disgrace. All lies especially about the suspension
Shut up😂😊
I mean, he was literally describing what he was feeling while driving the car. It might not align with what you want to hear about it, but I have no reason to disbelieve the reviewer.
I’ve had a RWD for 18 months and this review exactly explains my experience, on anything other than a smooth road the suspension is very poor. Road noise is also not great.
Wow! Great cars!!
Can Tesla not bring out something which is smaller ? I always think their cars are too big for UK roads. The design looks like a modern day Fiat Strada.
Tesla is the best car ever made 😃
Shani, aged 7 and a half.
The biggest Issue for me is the design. Maybe withe the new design language it will look smarter but tight now it looks like a pregnant cow
It’s better than a square box on wheels which is ever other SUV on sale right now
What a joke😂😂😂 lack of content???
Not much to say really - it’s just the same with a lot more range for a little more money. Welcome, but hardly worth a 15 minute review!
My god that car is ugly.
Didn’t musk let his design team go last year sometime. These cars are dull as dishwater and plug ugly. They may be efficient and have the charging network but if you like driving in general there are far better options available and for less money. The ride quality alone is a deal breaker.
Ummmm, this isn’t even a facelift, literally nothing has changed except the range.
Sounds like another dishonest review from What car.
Far too kind on the Fridge-freezer or whatever it was they were reviewing.
Teslas are built by people who don't drive for people who'd rather not drive. Everything that is wrong in a car can be found in spades in a Tesla.
Yeah, better efficiency than others, the best software period, best infrastructure. sucks doesn’t it.
Tesla’s drive really well.
I'd rather catch a bus than touch a Muskmobile.
It always the people that hate Elon and Tesla's that watch these videos and make negative comments..... Troll
Agreed. One reason to buy an EV is to protect the environment. Musk's support for Trump makes him very dangerous for the climate.
Who cares what Musk says. Do it for the people who work at Tesla.
Tesla’s business model doesn’t have a maintenance schedule.
I know which EV I would have!
I could buy a tesla only to support elon musk because of his stance on the woke mind virus. But i dont like his cars unfortunately.
I decided against buying a Tesla because of Elon Musk's support for Trump. That would be disastrous for the environment
😂
So stupid take loooolololo
😂
😂
😂😂😂
i wouldn't buy a tesla for love nor money
😎😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍👍
Would not buy anything now with Musk involved . His bots are hard working tho and deserve a mention
Horrible looking monstrosity. Why people spend money on this ghastly car is beyond me
What about the rubbish build quality on these? Any improvement?
I ve had my Y for just over 12 months. Chinese built. Zero squeaks rattles, very well put together. No iffy panel gaps. The build quality might have been poor years ago, mine is as good as the BMW 7 I had a while back and the seats are more comfortable. The sounds system is excellent by the way, best I ve ever had and because the car is so quiet its even more enjoyable.
Has quality improved on an American car? No. No it hasn't.
@@spanishphil2no squeaks after only a year isn't a flex.

Interior by ikea😂 no indicator stalk ,looks cheap everywhere, only plus is boot space and tesla network, latest Ionic 5 is far nicer all round.
The Model Y has indicator stalks.
The Ioniq 5 doesn't come for another year by which point the new Model Y will be out.
...what a dumb brain you are😊
@@esm7708 new ionic 5 in dealers now in the UK, new model Y will lose stalks I guess like the model 3 .
@@ibuk4309 my mistake. I confused it with the Ioniq 7 which is direct competitor to the Y. The 5 isnt that great inside either. I'd suggest it's worse.
You're guessing on the stalks and it's not that big of a deal
How many miles in winter?
A lot, lot less. This test shows 3 miles per kwh and with a 75kwh battery; that gives 225 miles in autumn weather.
In winter that will drop to way below 200, a long way from the advertised 373.
Couple that with 10% - 80% charge cycles and it's still truly appalling range.
Also, it's OK talking about the great Tesla Supercharger network, but it's concentrated into certain areas and isn't widely available around most of the UK.
@sargfowler9603 thats why I'm sticking to my plug in hybrid. Electric commute. Low petrol usage in longer runs
I own a Mercedes V6 SLK petrol and a turbo diesel SUV and a one year old Tesla Y, so I can give a balanced opinion. No question the Y is the better car 99% of the time and a more fun drive than the SLK ( does nt sound as nice as the V6 with the top down but music is better!)
Mine has LFP battery so charges to 100% all the time, Its easy to get 4 miles per kw hour.
