      The worst part of heat stroke to me is the growing delirium and utter confusion. It becomes impossible to think, and if feels like dying in the sense that you can literally feel the life leave you, ultimately becoming a crushing feeling of helplessness. This was at home during a heatwave, and it was my cats that saved my life by licking/wetting my forehead and such. Gave me the strength to semi-fall down the stairs to the cellar, where I could recover in 14C down from 39C upstairs. I had memory issues for a month after.

      It's not even about being better or more real. My main problem with Man vs Wild, is the fact that if you follow stuff he does on that show, it will get you injured, sick or killed. You don't go running around like crazy, climbing up and down cliffs, swinging from wines, jumping into unknown water and the lists just goes on and on. Nor do you go around eating or drinking things you have no clue about.. Being in a survival situation is bad enough, being in a survival situation with like a broken arm or a leg or sick, that can be a death sentences.

    • @ValCronin
      @ValCronin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But it could save someones life if they need to start a fire 😉 Im being facetious. But really, is there anything that nature produces that you consider 'garbage', or is it only human products? Now ask yourself why you have such a low opinion of human creations as opposed to the rest of nature. Animals LOVE our 'garbage' generally...they make homes out of it and use it for warmth and gifts. That doesnt mean they dont try to eat it too...there would be more food if we didnt infringe upon their habitats and also kill life with pesticides and hunting. But my main point was that 'garbage' is subjective and generally doesnt exist in nature. Kinda the same thing with 'pollution' as well except much of that is deadly to all life so...less of an argument for defending that lol.

    It's absolutely incredible the amount of ingenuity Les has, that is 100% required to be able to survive in these environments... I always used to think when I was a kid, "7 days?? That's so easy! That's not long at all!" But as I've gotten older, I've realized just how miserable these 7 days must actually be. Not having food for a day or two when I'm in a COMFORTABLE environment would be hard enough, but not what Les goes through.

      I went without food for I think around 8 days or so one time, just to see how long I could go on just water before it became an issue.
      It ended one evening when I realized I was absentmindedly snacking on some peanut butter. Guess that was the end of that.
      Of course, I didn't have to do all the energy intensive work of surviving in a hostile environment. But the hunger wasn't even so bad. It peaked on like day 2, and then I think actually got easier.

    Les Stroud is my new hero! This was amasing to see. Not only did he do the surviving.. Putting up cameras to show how he put up cameras. It gave me a laugh, but nice to see the honesty. That little water will not make you survive, and this video made it clear. This man is chill. No need for ACTION, POWER, SUPER BLOW-UPS! He tells you how it is. I would be overwhelmed if 4/5 traps worked. Like Woohoo!!! Freaking sweeet!! Les Stroud if you read this: You are the best!

    Glad he used gas and oil mixture. For anyone who doesn’t know, oil is harder to light than fuel, but the combination, makes a lasting, easier to light oil/fuel. Fuel by itself on that bundle would most likely evaporate, if not in some sort of air tight container.

    I've read a lot of the comments and l have to say. Les took way less gear and supplies the anyone that lives in that area would of traveled with. He does this a lot. I don't drive anywhere without a kit in my car. Food,water,tools,blanket,fire and more. More in the winter. If it's a trip to the wild l have a rifle/shotgun. Les is hard-core no doubt about it.

    I do mining construction in the desert 40c to 45c every summer. One day I drunk 11L or nearly 3 gallons. In a 10.5hour shift.
    The sun is no joke. Especially without shade.
    The biggest fear for me is not having a way of finding/making water if you do get lost. Deserts are the most dangerous survival challenges for that reason.

    Man, I grew up on this show and I'm happy to see your episodes pop up on youtube. One of the very few pages I ring the bell for, but I certainly did and I intend to watch so much! Les, you single-handledly created my respect for the love of nature. I would love to gain enough experience and knowledge about an area where I felt comfortable enough to head out on my own or with friends and enjoy the experience of our ancestors. This is a random place for this message but I hope it reaches you, I feel like you made a huge difference in my life. I'm 24 now but I remember watching your show as early as 14 and I have loved every single part of it. You've done a great job in television and just humanitarianism, it's a legendary title that I imagine will go down in history. I hope I get to meet you one day, attend a class or just see you out in the wilderness, I'll always carry a marker so you can sign my hat lol Love you Les, thank you for making a living teaching us common folk about the beauty and dangers of the environment, I am forever grateful!!

    For those wondering, yes 140F or 60C would be a world record. However, like he said, he was taking temperature in the sun and I assume near the ground. When taking temperatures you are supposed to take it in the shade 6ft off the ground in a box that blocks wind off

      @asadauy Ompah okay, well im not sure what youre looking up but even after checking i can find articles online. But if its really that important to you to troll something you cant find for yourself then thats fine, you win. Have a lovely day! Even if i were wrong...does it really affect anything to point that out? What do you gain from arguing about it? By the way, these questions are entirely rhetorical and it really doesnt matter to me what your answer is.

    • @UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh
      @UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @asadauy Ompah what reason would i have to lie about something like that? 🤣 theres no benefit for anyone to create that type of idea. Im not gonna do your leg work, if youre really that concerned or bothered by it then go find it yourself. Notice how youre obviously all kinds of butt hurt now that youve been called out. Because really, truly and honestly i dont really care what youre opinion is...to me youre nothing more than words on a page. If it really means that much then again, sure, you win. Ill concede. As well, ask yourself....even if i were wrong, is it truly worth the effort on your part to throw a temper tantrum like a small child? I highly doubt it, but obviously you seem to think its worth proving me wrong. So yeah, if you cant find anything then think im wrong to yourself because its apparent that no one other than you seems to care. You need to take a long hard look in the mirror and change that crappy attitude of yours.

    This is some good advice to anyone that works outside in the heat during the summer months. Get big water bottles fill them up with tap water or whatever water You choose put them in the freezer overnight The next day in the morning they should be frozen Take a thick clothing or cloth Keep the water bottles Bundled up together in cloth And every 20 minutes You want to pour that cold frozen water On the back of your neck. Yes you will get wet. But it keeps you cool that is your main arteries going to your brain And your brain needs too be cool That is the most important organ to keep cool during the heat. Beautiful feeling Having that cold water Running down your neck to your body on them hot days.
