will you do« though fire and flames»?just wondering
Happy New year Ray chen
@@minnieyuyantungIts complicated but still possible)
Happy new year too
Great to see you❤
hey Chen, since you're a classical musician i recommend checking ichika's first 2 EPs specially the songs illusory sense and a bell is not a bell, he had great classical influence at that time because of his piano background so hopefully you look into it
To the person who said this would be impossible on the violin. You just didn’t practice enough.
savage
Ling Ling 40 hours!
Hokayy now i'm practicing John Cage's 4'33" with my violin.
Ouch
I love how petty this comment is
Ichika Nito is very good. Playing this on the violin shows takes just another level of virtuosity. Well done!
太對了!
I don't even remember I left messages like that !? Cause I also listen to Richard Ling, and yu chien's music. Not only ray chen. I think you could listen to them, too.
@@shiaoyunfu-tf5dz Yes, they are very good, too!
As a guitarist I love your interpretation of the song, and I appreciate how faithful you always are to the original. Plus seeing a world class soloist enjoy Ichika Nito makes me feel very validated for choosing the instrument I did. It's nice to have the respect of other musicians.
That was so fun. I would say. It went from “I miss You” (being openly vulnerable) to “I miss You” (and I can explore this feeling, be okay, and even celebrate it - but I still miss you).
I enjoyed “the whispers between the notes”-so evocative of the wistful music. Thank you so much for sharing.
我也很喜歡/
That was much better than expected. Well done! I didn’t think it could be done!
never would i have thought that my favorite violinist would cover my favorite guitarist. what a day
So enjoyable. As a non-musician, I so enjoy seeing you hear the notes, finding them, and writing them out.
one and a half year into learning violin and this is the first time i see a song with a lot of chords transcribed like this; thank you ray it's inspiring and informative!
Great! As a fan of Ichika and his style i can confidently say that you nailed it. Great vid
I love this series. It's so interesting because of how good Ray is.
Truly, I hope he continues doing this
That sweater is fantastic! I usually try to comment on content, but that's really striking.
You got awesome camera presence and musicality! I usually don’t bother watching the creative process and skip to the result haha but you kept me engaged
Ichika had some videos where he reacts to different covers of his songs. I guess at some point he will appreciate your cover, cause it's so awesome 👌🏻
out of all pieces, I think it's pretty awesome you picked "i miss you", because it seems to be one of Ichika's favorites as well :)
對/我想你/
I was introduced to you as the violinist whose strength was in how you express the music, so these challenges that allow you to interpret and have fun are definitely gonna be enjoyable! It's always a joy to see you figuring out the puzzle pieces and how to fit it together 😊
CONGRATULATION TO 400K SUBS RAY, AMAZING MILESTONE
Wow the result is not bad. Actually I really like the “I miss you” of Ichika Nito. Before watching your video I thought this song is better with guitar. But now I think your violin version is not bad 🤔 Great job Ray 🎉
Not sure if this is ur first time watching him play but this guy is a world class violinist. Probably one of the hardest things to be in the entire world
I love Ray doing these challenges! It's so interesting to hear how the music transfers to a different instrument and so interesting to hear Ray's thoughts while putting together the arrangements. Also: he is releasing so much content on his channel lately and I am LIVING for it!
As a guitarist and violinist I love these videos!!
Thank you for bringing so much joy to playing the violin!!
Geez. It’s crazy how much talent and pitch awareness you need to pull this off. Bravo!
The best guitarists can give good violinists some challenge, but very good violinists (esp. world class violinists) are on another level.
Spoken like a bassist...
This is so cool!! Love Ichika's music and watching your translation process 🤩
Awesome job Ray
I really enjoy how you explain what music is trying to say. Great video❤
Would love to see these instrument transcriptions with accompaniment, like you mentioned. Loved the solo result, but would be fun to hear the result with a more layered sound to match the chords. 😊
I'm a violinist, but I picked up guitar as my hobby thanks to Tim Henson and Ichika Nito.
I tried covering their songs on violin, but I really missed their tones, it's the icing on the cake.
With the violinist background the progress is pretty fast, you should try it!
This took me multiple months 😢
Fantastic job haha!
Respect for the wise choice of the pull over. Very Ichika
Ichika's older stuff is much more suited for a classical instrument like the violin. It was less flashy flash like now and more beautifully composed ethereal solo guitar pieces, take "illusory sense" for example
Never thought i would felt the tingling feeling towards a violinist... 😍😍😍😍😍
Please do more covers of Ichika 's music. It sounds genuinely euphoric. Loved it❤
You captured all the emotions, so good
Ray! This should be arranged for playing on a loop. Imagine the looped call response. Might not have more strings, but we have time travel 🎶
Nice! I love seeing difficult guitar stuff on various instruments but on violin its usually the most impressive, cant wait for someone to try out the Winter Madness Solo 😄
Oh my god, my favourite violinist is play my favourite guitarist songs this is actually heaven, amazing playing as always!
I enjoyed every moment of this video. So entertaining 🎉
U are do good ❤❤ youre my fav musician
can you do the same challenge with asturias please. it's classical guitar music but i'm sure we will enjoy it
That would be really interesting, actually
Orb is another beautiful piece worth listening 😌
I'm speechless Now I will be obsessively switching between the violin and guitar for this song :D
You should have a look at Tenebre Rosso Sangue especially the main theme at 1:31 onwards. Very Bach like and very fast and powerful. Also just a great theme that sounds great on the organ/electric guitar. Could be fun adapted as a violin piece.
See, even while taking notes in-between playing Ray is more efficient than me, holding the pen while playing would have never crossed my mind before 😂 well done with the cover!! I'm excited to hear more in the future!
Wow both the original and the violin cover sound amazing!! Well done to both!
Since Mike Portnoy is rejoining Dream Theater you should try to learn one of there riffs! The Dance of Eternity or the Honor Thy Father openings should be fun for someone at your level
☺
Nice job on the Ichika riff too! I would imagine getting the voice's right was a little annoying.
there's a group who did dance of eternity with the violinist doing the guitar part. it's Unlucky Morpheus, search on youtube. the band is pure awesomeness
Ray slayed!
I’d love to see you and Ichika Nito do a collaboration together. This was awesome! Great job
That was amazing. I think you should start releasing some of these as covers
Ray, I really enjoy your thinking process the whole time!!!❤great job in transcribing!
That was epic. I really loved watching your process from difficult and making changes, questioning the whole thing!, to just wow. What a glorious sound. I can tell how not easy it was, and you totally rocked it! Thanks so much! 🎉
Let's go I'm so glad more people wanted to see ichika
It would sound so great if both of you played together 😮
Very impressive Ray. You are a skilled musician without a doubt.
Ichika is part of band called Dios which makes some pretty banger music! I recommend checking out his work with the band
1:14 I also started listening to ichika recently and had this exact reaction (but violin still 1st)
ray coulda easily stretched this to 8 mins to get mid rolls, what a g. also amazing video i hope he does more of these!!!
You did good! Difficult to play a song from a different instrument. But you did well.😖
“Happy New Year!”
🥰 love how you interpret the song
Love these challenge videos Ray.
This sounds AMAZING 🤩
I hope you also take this time to learn chop techniques with this too :) to get those guitar pops too.
I believe you’d be perfect to learn chop techniques, and would help even more with jamming and feeling the groove in a EPIC way.
(Casey Driessens chop notation glossary is a PERFECT source for this, on TH-cam) :)
I love the fact that you attempt non classical styles and improvise as well 👍🏾 it keeps me coming back to your videos.
Yeah definitely chopping would be great!🎻 He definitely needs to learn
@@Aaron-Qman yep! I hope he does a collab with Casey Driessen and then Christian Howes :)
YES ! well done ! hello from Réunion Island !🤩🤩🌴🌴
The ichika song you played in the background at the end is one of my favorites, play that one!! lol
Very amazing, loved it. ♥
you did great with this piece on violin!
this was awesome ! congratz Ray :))
Beautiful! 😊❤
serious question..
how comfy is that sweater???. it looks extremely comfy :P
Really, really good. The challenge when starting from a classical training is always finding away of not making non-classical tunes sound stllted. It's something to do with barlines and the intensity required to project all the colours. Never mind making a transcription sound effective on a different instrument. Oh, and how about making the video of pulling it all together enjoyable to watch. Kudos to you, Ray.
Ray and Ichika Nito's music, count me in
Best Performance Ray.. Very nice...
so good and interestignly interpreted. i would love to hear a duet with a cello now !
as a guitarist learning violin, i would actually love to see you try out guitar for a video!
Beautiful
Ray said he should pick up the guitar. Ok, so now he’s doing violin then opera then guitar?! 😂😂
If you don’t go into Rays studios in Tonic, the opera part wouldn’t make sense
And also Ray, you should play Shostakovich cello sonata on violin 😄
You're so good at violin❤
“You know the difference between A-sharp and B-flat? A-sharp is sharper” OMG THANK YOU RAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd love to have a tonic equivalent for other types of art. Though that kind of seems hard for writing in the moment. But I'm doing my best with a small writing group which has been super helpful
I so badly want a polyphia, ray, ichika + orchestra mash up 😢
Sharps are sharper than flats only with just intonation. There is no difference between A# and Bb with equal temperament. The equal temperament divides the octave in 12 identical notes with a ratio of the 12th root of 2.
I like the colorful top
Dude you've got to react ot soul bass concerto by Xavier Foley. The piece's 3rd movement is just 🤌🤌🤌🤌
That's AMAZING!!!
Dunno why I haven't subbed til this point. Fantastic rendition!
I would love to see you play something by Rob Scallon, like For That Second
THIS IS BJUTIFUL. Please make and Yvette Young one!!!
nice choice of 3d printer - bamboo labs are great :)
very good!
You nailed it again 👏🤝 the " every musician after practicing for 10 min " is so true 😭😂
I can't get enough of these challenge videos 🤎
Don’t know how you do it, awesome as usual.
Oh it would be so cool if you tried Labyrinth by Miracle Musical. I don't know if that is actually possible to play on a violin, on the piano it seems more doable, but that would be a cool thing to hear
I know Christmas is over, but can you try Roman Kim’s Stille Nacht? 😈
hey i really liked u r cover but can u play classical drogon ?? by macin and tim
U should do God Complex or Rain by Ruben Wan
The collab I always wanted
ray chen and math rock!!!!!!!!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Amazingggg
Do butterfly lovers plz on the violin
Pure fire🔥💯💯
