Ok so Umbrella Academy Season 3 ends with a big cliffhanger that seems like it's ripped right out of the ending of Fight Club. Even the ending shots are set up in the same way and if you're here then it probably means you have no idea what's going on.
Well you're in luck chump as throughout this video we're gonna be going over the biggest WTF questions to give you some clarity on what exactly is happening in the show.

With that out the way, thanks for clicking this, now let's get into The Umbrella Academy Season 3!
Ok so the first big question I think we need to talk about is Who Is Sir Reginald Hargreeves.
Well in the series we have had hints towards his backstory and Season one's final episode opened with him at his wife's Abigails side as she lay in her death bed. Season 2 showed us that he's infact an alien and this opening scene in ten was actually his home planet.
He said farewell to Abigail and took with him not only a jar of Orbs that he opened up but also a white Violin that he later gifted to Victor. Now in the comics we get some of what happens after this fleshed out when we read more about the character. We discover that his planet was dying along with his wife and that he set out amongst the Cosmos in his private Vessel the Minerva. This was with his private bodyguard Abhijat who doesn't feature in the comics and instead a lot of his role is shifted over to Pogo.
On Earth Hargreeves invested in several businesses, he became a Nobel Prize Winner and also an Olypmic Gold Medalist.
In Season 2 when the family travelled back in time we discovered that he had teamed up with the Majestic 12, a group of illuminati-esque members who have some basis in the real world.
For decades now there have been conspiracy theories surrounding the mysterious members that make it up and they're meant to be a number of high ranking scientists, military leaders and government officials. According to the rumours they control world events and also hide the existence of UFOs.
The group was apparently formed all the way back in 1947 under the orders of President Truman and after recovering an alien spacecraft they began to cover up the truth from humanity.
They and Hargreeves worked together for a long time and he helped them in several technological advances which is when he became so involved in the space race. We discover in Season 2 that he's attempting to reach the Dark Side of The Moon, which we learn the reason for in Season 3.
Turns out Abigail is there and I believe that his ship crash landed on Earth after dropping her there which is why he was desperate to get back. She may have been shot out in an escape pod esque station which we see Luther was put in charge of guarding.

A lot of thoughts on this show because I am loving it. Hargraves is smart and a gambler; I think he only ever gets 7 because he only every TRIES for seven. He needs exactly 7 to power the ship and so never tries for more making him a gambler and a bit of an idiot. Like when they went into the machine at the end. Rather than have the backup of Klaus and Luther he kills them both leaving him with only Allison (Who he had a deal with) as his backup. If Klaus hadn't gone in and brought Luther Gravity girl (I am terrible with names) would have died and he would have had to use Alison as his 7th.
In the first round(season1) He loses 5 and Ben dies making it so he cannot power the machine at all. His solution? Bring them together probably in the hopes of getting 5 back as well and them resetting time exactly like they did.
When he sees them in the past he opts to get a different 7 (Not knowing Ben was already 1) and instead of trying to be a better parent he trains them even harder so that instead of fracturing and leaving they drug and control him instead. So I guess he succeeded in getting a better group as this didn't require him killing himself. AND AGAIN instead of getting 8 or more as backup he opts for only 7 again. Even with our 7 not existing in this timeline there were still over 40 kids born that day but he never tries for more and the fact that he got this new set shows he could have got more than our original 7.
I don't think the ship is his as the way he talks about it would suggest otherwise. He says the creators of the universe mad it I think. He only had the key in those lights that might have also acted as a compass leading him to earth. He probably found it well before, maybe when his wife first gets sick or maybe even thinking he'd save his planet. HE doesn't care about anyone but his wife though so when she dies he finally opts to use said key and follows it to earth where he first finds the door and builds the hotel and then waits for the key to do its thing and make the kids.
I also think 5 figures this out in one timeline. One where Ben doesn't die and our original 7 make it to the machine but he loses his arm anyway. Maybe he also loses his powers but still knows how to theoretically time travel and thus, with time, creates the briefcases to time travel with. Five knows he can only fix so much and a lot of stuff HAS to happen. He has to be born, get stuck in time join the Commission. He knows about Oblivion so he's been there (hence the lost arm). Was he warning himself not to save the world and go to Oblivion too or maybe trying to warn himself about what happens there, I dunno. He does know some, or all, of it has to happen. Maybe they will fix things by performing a more precise reset taking away Hargreaves's power in this time but that means he ends up injured as well.
I do wonder if Hargreaves only killed those two because he was always planning to bring them back and give them normal lives but that remains to be seen. I am thinking he is still more anti-hero than villain. Willing to harshly train these kids he will never care for and even kill them if need be but also making it so they get something of a happy ending. Or maybe the power loss is simply a side effect of the lights being drained from them. He could have also taken their powers with the machine in the hopes of them not fucking shit up any more with Victor not having their world ending powers and Five no longer being able to time travel. Alison might be the unforeseen result since he was probably gonna take her powers too and I like the idea that she might Rumor their powers back so they can fuck over whatever his new plan is. Probably by accident knowing these idiots.
A final funny not; Klause is my favorite and I've loved the Actor since I first saw him in the British show Misfits so I died laughing when, once again, one of his powers is him being Immortal. Really woulda died laughing if he yelled "I'm Immortal" in his original accent like he did in that show.

@Heavy Spoilers I’m still confused of Sloane’s disappearance in the end…..did she sacrifice herself to save Luther or did she vanished elsewhere just like Allison ended with Ray and her daughter?
What I really just want to know is what the “Jennifer incident” is
Was anyone at all upset by Allison’s behavior this season? I understand she was grieving but home girl was not worried about Claire last season when she was with Ray lol. She wasn’t doing “everything she possibly could” to get back to her. Now she wants to be mad at Viktor? Viktor was severely abused and didn’t know how to use his powers. Him starting the apocalypse was an accident. His siblings treated him like dirt up until this season. Idk… Allison annoyed me.

@@rangershake5652 I know, I totally understand she’s grieving but she was actually in the 1960s for like 3 years or so. She was fine without seeing her daughter for years? That didn’t make sense to me
i do understand her pain and everything but she ended up taking it out on everyone and she was super toxic. i feel bad for viktor and luther the most bc viktor did not deserve the hate he got especially after all he’s been through. luther didn’t deserve to be treated like that especially bc she’s jealous of him and sloane. idk i think the writers made hateful so she could have a redemption arc but, i think they went to far.

I’d consider Allison the “villain” of this season and there was no resolution to this. It was like watching the villain get everything they want and win in the end
Shes the most selfish character. Honestly would have stopped watching the show if i wasnt watching with family because of how frustrating she is to watch
@@xopath9204 she lost her daughter, got transported to another timeline where she thought she'd never see her family again, fell in love, and then lost that partner as well as coming to grips with possibly never seeing her daughter ever again. And then on top of that constantly being surrounded by the very people that caused you to lose both those people. Shes the only mother on the show. Hell all of her frustrations made sense. Everything she did made sense.
@@1stKindChris no, just no. she is not the only one in the umbrella family whose life was affected by the apocalypse’s. which also means she shouldn’t be excused for acting the way she did, especially since no one else who lost who they loved did what she did. she is just a selfish person at heart.
@@veyamarie1506 selfish? Everyone deals with grief differently... but what did Luther lose? What did 5 lose? Diego? Klaus actually had his lover die. But Allison had her family stolen. She lost her family in both realities. She has guilt from using her powers on her daughter, and then she has to deal with the possibility that she would never see her again. Allison is the most tragic character in the show.
Vanya/Viktor is the worst this season..... just in the way at every turn. She went from a tragic character in season 1 to just being a nuisance
I love klaus’s character development this season, he is my favourite character by far. Him just being like “whatever” when he and luther died was so funny to me. And I would like to know what his spirit barrage, or whatever it was, was.

Yes..even when he know his lovely father stoping him to enter the gate and knowing how his father just using him and killing him a couple times..hes like "oh yeah, okey lets see the positive thing about this, i can spend my time in void, void is my home" lol

He's always been my favorite character, but before I loved many others two. This season he was the only one I truly liked. All others were either 'meh', pretty ok or straight up unlikeable to me. I wouldn't have watched if Klaus hadn't been there.

You missed the part about “the deal.” Allison didn’t stand on a star, therefore didn’t lose her powers, and then magically shows up at her house, instead of coming out of the elevator, with the two things she wanted most.
I thought the deal was to let her live basically, My first impression was that they are dead, Klaus is the only one that knows that and will pretend to make their sibling happy living in this void/limbo. But for Allison the dwal was to survive in the timeline like Regginald and they both got what they wanted, letting the team die for what they wanted. Prob wrong I haven't read the comic nor I know how many they are or if there would be another season. But it gave me peace to finish the series 🤣🤣🤣
I think each "universe" is a hologram programmed by the machine. The deal he made with Allison is if she helped him, she would get both Ray and her daughter in the next universe...
right im assuming he was messing with the machine configuring the world they would teleport to, and since allison helped him she got claire and ray, while luther and sloane aren't together or viktor and sissy

Its a very cool concept to have the mentor of the main characters to also be the villain who uses them for his own selfish ambitions. What a great story!

I'm just annoyed that Allison was my favorite character for the past two seasons and to see her act the way she did was so selfish and disgusting (especially that situation with Luther I will never forgive her for even after her wack apology) I don't think it's fair that in this timeline she is the only one who gets everything she wanted. Also, her complete disregard for everyone else having lost someone like she was the only one hurt was annoying to no end - Viktor lost Sissy and now Harlan because of her, Diego lost Patch, Klaus lost Dave, and Five literally spent his entire life in an apocalyptic waste land only to come back and save them all, so for her to act like she was the only one going through trauma was so insensitive of her and the way she took it out on her family was so ugly of her. I hope she has some major character development in the next season cause her actions were hard to watch this one.

Final scene we see allison still having a scarred face meaning she didnt loose her powers probably because she didnt have her powers sucked by the portal .Maybe allison made a deal with Reginald to meet back her child and husband. Allison is a Possible villain for the next season as others dont have powers unlike her. I guess this will motivate five to make a time machine thereby setting up the commission.

I think there's a lot of merit to this theory and I've been thinking the same thing. She showed no remorse whatsoever for her actions, making them even more villainous. She also suffers no repercussions either, which means that she doesn't grow as a character this season. And if the Umbrella Academy has to reverse what's happened for some reason, there's no way Allison would let them do it. Not with what she's done to get Claire and Raymond back.

I doubt it because Viktor still has his powers after the sparkles got sucked out of everyone, when Five urges him to attack Allison. So yeah, maybe them losing their powers was part of the deal. But then again why Hargreaves said to her that he "can't" do it without her?? I mean there must be something more to it why he needed Allison. Since Allison couldn't convince the other family members to vote to go, what else did she provide to Reginald that he wouldn't have otherwise? This is the question I don't fully know the answer to and it bothers me
@@kubakrause5259 exactly; also, i think showing that Vik still has powers is indicative of him having more of those glowy energy specks things compared to the rest, hence his greater abilities/capabilities
Allison’s character got demolished this season. She sexually assaulted Luther and that was never really addressed. She commits murder against someone innocent to hurt Viktor. She physically attacks him multiple times and argues like a child (quote “he started it!”). The excuse of “she’s grieving” doesn’t work as an excuse for poorly executed drama for dramas sake. Allison was intelligent, compassionate, and the heart of the team. Her arc was always about redemption andso what was the purpose of making her go evil, just to try and pull a lame redemption in death ending for her? They just turned her into the angry irrational black woman troupe. And then have the audacity to try to have her make commentary on race with Diego, whilst also portraying that as her going down the wrong path? Yes. How villainous of her to call out racism. The writers really screwed her character this season. Ugh.
the way they wrote Allison this season nearly ruined the whole thing for me. Every second she was on screen was unsufferable, idk why they did that to her she was a perfectly fine character before
Losing her daughter and her husband consecutively is such great motivation for a character to lose their minds that is really impressive they managed to fuck it up this bad. The writing is just awful, making her irrationally angry and illogical instead of sad and nihilistic that maybe could've led to her being angry and fucking up at the end of the season. Also, its actually insane that they decided to include the sexual assault scene, how do you expect for the audience to root for someone that does that, even if you pretend it never happened for the rest of the season? Some mind boggling decisions really
I was literally thinking the exact same thing about the angry black woman trope. Like, come on, she had SO much good development in the past two seasons and they ruined it for her. The amount of times she stormed out of an argument... They did her so dirty this season
@@hamboan6266 the reason I think for her transformation is to illustrate that given the right circumstances, anyone can go off the deep end and become a terrible person, even a character like Allison. I actually thought it was a great idea to turn the most put together character into the main asshole.

We werent meant to root for her this season, we werent meant to like her this season. im glad they fully committed to her descent into being a terrible person instead of sugarcoating it all. It shows no one is safe. depending on the circumstances, even good people can spiral and do terrible things.Heres to some good development on her part next season though.I do hope for some level of redemption on her part, cause her actions were pretty fucked up
I originally like Allison up until this season and I get it that she's grieving but the steps she took just to get back to her daughter and husband of the 60s is something a villain would do just like Sir Reginald Hargreeves who's plan was to get his wife back. I do like that Ben is more active despite him being a ******** in this universe and the introduction of the Sparrows were great.
Her actions match the story line in the graphic novel.

What steps did she take? You realize they were all going to die either ways? If Hardon hadn't killed their mothers Claire would still be alive and the "Kugleblitz" or grandfather paradox would not be happening?
Allison has always been manipulative, she just didn't let it get the best of her until now. She used her powers for her career, on her child, and to completely fuck over Viktor. She had good moments, but was definitely way more of a garbage person than people seem to give her credit for.
@DenDen and her career. It was heavily implied she used her power to get roles and good reviews.
@@anniesmith5953 because her powers are used for manipulation. Simple! No matter the instance in which she uses her power, for good or evil, to rumour is to manipulate period! Cut her some slake.
I think Klaus showing us that everyone has their own version of heaven (he says this when him and Luther are on the bouncy castle) and us also learning that pushing a button causes real problems (like pressing the bell button) means that actually, Alison is dead and that’s her version of heaven. It’s the only way to really explain both Ray & Claire being in the same timeline.

What? I assumed it was part of their deal that he reset the universe and created it to his will and part of that was in their deal for Allison
Claus also said that there is no pain in the heaven and Luther are not even have a scar on his body, so I believe Alison is in the reality, another timeline, rather than in the heaven.

That pause when everyone was stepping on the plates was awfully suspicious, I think 5’s future self was the version that didnt step on the plate and allison was, meaning he would probably still have has his powers/severed arm, allison was stilll bleeding and had her wounds when she came back to claire.
You're right, five's future self had his left arm cut off. Thats why five said to his younger self to not save the world this time.
@@IzzieBellz and to add on him telling his younger self not to save the world might mean he was the one that ended up killing hargreeves, thus he was quite literally the one to press the button and save the world, maybe leading to another timeline we might see in future seasons

@@amo903 That could be a possible theory, or maybe the timeline in which five would be dead maybe Hargreeves needed him in that timeline and to not save the world or create another timeline. Hargreeves made a deal with Allison, I think that deal was she was wanted to be with Ray and Claire. Klaus did say all peoples heavens are different maybe she died

Do you not remember Season 1 where Klaus brings Ben's "spirit" back and allows him to use his powers to save everyone. It's the same thing that happened with Luther.

I’m pretty sure Allison’s new family is just a result of the deal made with Hargreaves I think he programmed the new universe to be like that in exchange for her cooperation.
That makes a lot of sense!
If that was true then she didn't need to kill Hargreeves and push buttons.
So if Hargreeves had set the things for her, then what did she program into the universe?
I doubt it was just to erase his memory of what happened. How would he live up to that deal if he wouldn't remember it?
At every turn she makes the wrong decisions, and trying to explain it just shows how much worse the decision was...

So let me get this straight: Reginald’s grand plan all along in founding the Umbrella and Sparrow Academies was not to raise a group of superheroes so much as raise and train a squad of soldiers/sacrificial lambs to gain access to a universal reset machine left behind by mysterious omnipotent beings and now he rules the entire city, possibly the entire world in this new timeline all while the siblings are now powerless.

You forgot about Five loosing his arm. His future self was also missing an arm. His arm is now restored tho but I still think it’s a hint.

Klaus has always been able to conjure the dead into the physical world, he showed it back in season 2. Thats how he was able to bring Luther back to save sloan
Right, he had done it in the apocalypse in season 1 and with original timeline's dead Ben
But that time Ben was like a blue ghost… was it because now he is more powerful and Luther looked normal?

@@shaycat13 Considering his earlier training montages with "Dear Old Dad", I figured that Luther being "solid" when summoned was just representative of Klaus' growing power.

I highly believe Reg adopted Sloane again remember he said he would take care of her after stabbing Luther to death I felt that was foreshadowing. I also don’t buy Ray being in the same timeline as Claire with the amount of times Allison was seeing him this season makes me think she’s dead and it’s not real.

I agree, she wasn’t healed and she wasn’t with her siblings. Also no way Ray will be there at her home just waiting for her. She is dead for sure!
My first thought was she died and everything she saw was fake, but then considering how advanced the technologies Reg has, maybe she is in a simulated VR, something like the Valley Beyond from Westworld.
@@amarawinchester963 I totally agree with that statement Ray freaked the hell out in season 2 when she told him the truth about her and the family highly doubtful he is just chilling waiting for her to come home something doesn’t feel right about that.
I know it says "he got 7" at the beginning of two of the seasons, but I actually think he actually only cared about getting 7 because he was so arrogant that he thought he could train them so they wouldn't die, the same way he left Klaus out because he was so positive that he wouldn't need him. I also think that the universe didn't get reset so much as reprogramed. That would explain the HE and Allison having both Ray and Claire. It might even explain why Ben survived but Sloane may not have because Allison didn't like her but seemed to be getting along with bitchy Ben.
It's not that I think, I think he tried to prevent exactly what happened. Allison stabbing him in the back. If there is only 7, nobody can stop him once they take their places.

Allison still has her powers, overcome with grief decides to "Rumour" some random girl and some random dude into thinking they are husband and daughter. This being foreshadowed in the growing powers Allison has been having creating a character struggle in the next season. Sloan probably does exists only not to such extent as we know her, she was born but had a normal upbringing so does not know Luther or anyone else, this creating a 'romance struggle' for the next season.

There’s still so much we don’t know about Reggie. Literally after his wife dies how does he know to release the orange mist. How does he know that it’s all going to reset the universe. And also his conversation with five. “Ive seen universes end in ways you couldn’t even imagine” like it’s been many many times. What is his purpose? He knew he was going to die to Allison and still got what he wanted. It just doesn’t make a lot of sense. Especially if they are going to have another season. It also brings me to believe this is just a massive loop? Think about it deep. (How does future five know about oblivion) as if that version of five knows that oblivion gives reggie what he wants. I feel like five is going to figure out that Reggie makes things how he wants them. Or something else will happen which I can’t think of, but giving five a reason to create the commission therefore keeping the timeline in tact the way it was in season 1. But then it’s just another loop 😩 this shit is insane
I agree , its a little bit like Loki series. Five will probably find out that Reggie is controlling the world on his will (kind of like Avatars in Charmed series) and will stop them and create the Commission so alternating time/universe wont happen again.
I believe there was a short scene of Reggie holding the "mist/marigold" how ever you wanna call it on a different world with his wife in bed seemingly dying and the world outside ending (I believe it's the episode with Vanya's violin as it was his wife's). Back then I thought the shinny mist might have come from his wife or something of the sort, but it implies he knew what the mist was for. I also think it wasn't an accident his wife is in a pod on the moon, technically he could've brought her back the second he sent Luther there. I think she was dying and he kept her in cryo until he makes a perfect timeline or finds a universe in which she can live. Now what exactly she is and what her powers/role may be is something I think we'll see in season 4.
I think Alison being able to kill him was a mistake, due to Reggie messing up killing Klaus. Reggie kept 7 exactly. He then makes a calculated risk by demanding Alison be the one to stay out of the sigil (this is pretty drawn out since 5 hesitates), because he knew due to the deal for the new universe they made that Alison would be the most desperate to get the world he built, even if she does kill him in the process.
Them spawning in the new universe where Reggie and his wife rule everything made me think this is why and maybe even when Five will start making the commission and make the briefcases. I might be wrong obviously but now that they don't have their powers in a universe that looks like a Reggie wet dream, what better time for a time travel expert to invent the briefcase that will let him time travel?
This is another loop, but it keeps bringing me back to what Reggie said to Five "the past is as much of a mystery as the future" kind of indicating that this timeline fuckery isn't the first or the last time, at least during Reggie's life time.

Well we assume that he comes from another planet but the show has never said he comes from another planet. What if he's actually from another universe and this one is one that someone created to trap him. He can't escape it but he can reset the parameters when things don't go how he likes.

This season I loved Klaus the most and hated Allison. Klaus mastering his skills and becoming immortal was very entertaining, and how he took it a step further by bringing other dead people back to life. Allison sucked this season, she was stuck up and the moments I hated the most were: what she did to Luther, not forgiving Victor, and then fake apologizing to Victor to carry out her deal with Reggie for her own selfish desires. She was the true villain this season.

It’s just my theory but I think the reason Sloane didn’t make it is because of Allison. In the scene where Reginald Hargreeves was resetting the universe, he was creating 7 cubes and matches each of them to the symbol on the control panel. However, Allison killed Reginald before he could create the 7th cube for the symbol. When Allison hit the reset button there were only 6 green cubes on the symbol and the slot for the 7th cube was empty. I think that the last cube was for Sloane and since it was never finished, Sloane didn’t make it to the new universe

I have a theory that Alison is dead. Klaus explains to Luther that heaven looks different to everyone. Alison's version of heaven is with Ray and Claire, who are both dead...which means Alison is dead. When you make a deal with a villain you have to be very specific. Reginald gave her exactly what she asked for...although it may not be the way she intended. The world they now find themselves in is powered by their abilities I think, which is why they have no powers, but I think they are the only ones on the planet besides Reginald, so they will probably figure it out and try to get their powers back in order to make the world that it was. This would make season 4 the last season. I'm calling it now. I don't see another storyline they could go with after that.

Hence the reason why the future 5 knew of Oblivion and still had his arm missing since we see from Allison that you don’t heal when pushing the button. This theory would still create a loop regardless.

When they were in Hotel Oblivion, I couldn't help but see the parallels with the Greek myth of the Minotaur and the Labyrinth. The point of the myth is arrogance of man against God. This could be seen as the Umbrella/Sparrow Academy constantly trying to change things and it only getting worse. This gets a nod by Grace calling it God and her comments when she went crazy trying to stop the Umbrella/Sparrow team. It doesn't track 100% but when the team was running through the Hotel lost like in a labyrinth, being pursued by monstrous guardians it definitely seems like an inspiration.
When he makes his decision in 1963 to not adopt the Umbrella Factory members, Ben was not with them. Which is why Ben is included in the Sparrow Academy because he doesn’t know that he was one of his original choices.
This episode seemed like the end for me. Five is my favourite character, he's more mature and less needy than the others 😁

My pity towards Allison was lost in this season. I know she's lost alot but she was horrible this season. But frankly that's not what I'm mad at her the most.
The fact she traded nearly everything that the academy had (Luther's wife, Luther's death but atleast he survived and killed Harlan out of spite.) And selfishly get everything SHE wanted. Honestly its cruel to say I hope she loses them again, I hope her happiness is short lived.
She is without a doubt a, or maybe the villain of this season. But i do believe that that was the intention. She has lost a ton, and she did have a precedent of using her powers unjustly. I get where she is coming from, i get her rationalising it to herself. I just hope that the next season explores that dynamic more.
She killed Harlan because she wanted to save the world and she needed to sacrifice him so that the sparrows cooperated with them. It was necessary, she only spared him because she trusted Viktor but he lied to her and wasted everyone’s time that could’ve been used to make a Plan. Also they all would have died within a few days anyways if it hadn’t been for Allison being the only one who was committed to stop the universe from being destroyed in a black hole.
We don’t know what deal she made but it was clear that she didn’t agree with her father killing Luther, she was shocked by it. No one said her deal was killing Allison.

Future 5 entered the portal and lost his arm in the battle. Knowing he's failed he teleported away and lived. He founded the commission to ensure that the apocalypse happened preserving the timeline in which Reginald never access the portal in the Oblivion hotel. Future 5 made it sure to prevent any changes in the timeline to prevent Reginald from accessing the Portal. Using his space/time power, he created the briefcases to extend and prefect time travel. That is why the Handler said in the previous seasons that the Apocalypse must happen and future 5 said to present 5 that he, present 5 shouldn't try to save the world because future 5 knew about the reset button hence the tattoo of the sigil. Future 5 save the future citizens from dying in the apocalypse by creating the commission through living in past. Does that make sense?

We don't know what happened to him exactly but we know he is alive, he lost his hand, and he has the tattoo of the sigils. Present 5 has a different life and timeline. This universe they are in has a time travel factor that changes the future drastically by going to the past. Making the past (destination time) their current present. It doesn't loop on itself. Which is why when the umbrella academy returned to 2019, the time where they thought every came back to normal, was changed by their actions from going back in time to Dallas. The end of season 3 is a different timeline and universe. Probably different from season 1 and 2. Present 5 got his hand back but he has no powers just like the rest of the umbrella academy plus Lila and minus Allison. With the addition of 2 Bens.
The Kugelblitz probably did not exist in Future 5 timeline. His apocalypse was Vanya, yes Vanya destroying the moon.

Here's my thoughts RE: Alison/Hargreeves/et al
The fact that Hargreaves' wife is able to exist and not instantly cause a bunch of paradoxes with the Umbrella Academy (and Two Bens) strongly implies that the Machine gets to re-write reality -- rules going out the window at least for the reset.
As such, I'm guess Alison gets to have it rewritten that Ray is the father of Claire and she gets Claire too -- genetics et al be damned.
Hargreeves had "made a deal" and was specifically "keeping her out of the bells" to be used as fuel etc SO -- HE likely rewrote a reality where she got to fill in as the movie star and the kid and Ray etc. Like him holding up his end of the deal. As she did the thing she gets to take the reality's version of her. But my guess is that Hargreaves dying in the machine means he did not get to take his spot, so the reality "made" a new Hargreeves that gets him all those things. So that guy never lost Abigail, never needed to make the Umbrella Academy or create the Hotel Oblivion, etc instead just the garden space (maybe the portal is still up in the air even?)
But that's my thoughts. I'm curious about Sloane

One theory I think you didn't mention (unless I was watching this video sleeping) was that this universe is likely what Reginald wanted. He is seen writing alot of stuff (possibly the specifics of what the universe should be like) in the holographic panel and we still don't know the full details of Allison's deal and I believe it could be that Reginald would give her family to her in the new universe/timeline.
I believe that's what he promised her in exchange for her help, and that's why he kept her from being part of the seven!

@@kurthaas4331 A new timeline means a new timeline. Maybe the Civil Rights Era happened exactly how it was supposed to without Ray.
Ray may be the person he is because Allison was in the booth when the timeline got recreated so it took from her memories. Maybe that's one thing Reggie programmed in the machine before he died.
The machine looked like it was supposed to kill all of the children it was feeding on and absorb their power to restart the timeline. Since that didn't happen, but the timeline still got remade, the kids got to keep their memories but their powers still were all drained by the machine.
I'm pretty sure many of these questions will be asked and answered next season.

I really like the idea that the heroes/bells who powered the machine lost their powers and only Allison still has her new Harlen-enhanced powers that are borderline omnipotent. What did happen to Sloan? Hargreaves must be the one who determined the parameters of the universe reset. Maybe he tucked her away somewhere to keep Luther and her apart? I do think all the original seed-ed moms still gave birth because that would be necessary for the new reality to exist. Who knows what Hargreaves changed or stacked in his favor and against his children!!! Looking forward to season 5, but hoping the comics catch up in the meantime.

When Klaus asked why he adopted other 7 kids Reggie says it's because of the meet-up in Texas. I think he lied coz if the mothers of the umbrella academy died, that means they weren't really born which created a paradox. So I think Reggie wanted to create the paradox intentionally so he could reset the universe and bring his wife back. That means Reggie is selfish and only cared about his wife and himself.

I love how each season we a different character level up. Season 1 was 5 and Vanya. Season 2 was Diego and Klaus. Season 3 was Klaus again and Allison. Next season should be Luther and Ben

I think it should have been pretty obvious is that Hargreeves was programming what the Universe would look like up until he died. It's also how Allison is getting her life her way. Hargreeves programed in whatever he promised her for her part of the deal. I think the real issue may be what did Hargreeves not get to program in before he died - making this world potentially incomplete.
if Klaus's next ability evolution is resurrection of the dead, I think that's why Reginald called him his greatest disappointment in season 1. Because I think he could have forgone project oblivion if Klaus can bring his wife back to life

My theory is when the deal was made between Hargreaves and Allison, he programmed what she wanted in the new timeline , maybe because he told her that she can have both her daughter and husband . When she hit the reset button the effect took place along with what Hargreaves had programmed.
I'm with you. Her deal was probably for her daughter and ray, and for the umbrella family to be restored. Whether with or without powers, that's questionable. The machine could of drained their powers

Allison is the worst kind of human being, I've hated her from S1. She literally used her powers to get everything in life, she even rumored her husband to fall in love with her. She sexually assaulted luther and treated everyone like shit.

Allison is the only one remain the same as before because she was the one inside the console command and is the one who pressed the button. shes the only person to remain from the original timeline untouched. Mr. monacle didnt let her step on the star because there were 8 children now that Klaus returned. he prefer for klaus to take the 7th star instead of her. her frequency was off because she used her powers on herself ealier in the season (i think).

Hmm. My thought (although I don't know how to reconcile it since there will be a 4th season) was that Allison had died-- and that her going home to finding her daughter and husband was her "Heaven". After all, Klaus says to Luther when they are fighting in the bouncy castle in the afterlife something like "I can't believe this is someone's heaven!" implying that heaven is what we make it (just not for Klaus because he doesn't experience the afterlife the same way).

I have a theory that Sloane was not there because when the whole universe reset, even different realities reset, therefore Sloane went back to the reality with all the sparrow academy students alive including another Ben.
Cool theory but then why did the sparrow’s Ben come out of the elevator with the umbrellas? Plus Sloane was more than happy with the umbrellas why would a world that is supposed to be perfect plop her in a place without Luther? No hate it is a great theory but it has some plot wholes.

i think the umbrellas only survived in a new timeline because of allison's wish which is why sloane wasn't there and why Ben was. Reginald can most likely do anything while resetting the timeline and made it so that a "ben" came back to allison's wishes but just brought back the most convenient one, Sparrow Ben, and healed him up a bit like the Umbrellas.

During the show, harlan said he "felt" viktor at the moment the orbs made the women pregnant and then give birth, so he reached out, but it wasnt him, it was their mothers.
So basically, when his mom died, harlans powers spiked from his grief, then, because they reached out just as hargreeves children were implated into the earth women, they picked up on viktor, but the feeling was different because the powers were actually connecting with the parents of the kids, instead of viktor himself, so harlan accidently killed them all. It wasnt a concerted effort by anyone, just a tragic accident.
Allison getting Ray and Claire is just part of her deal with Reginald. He reprogrammed the universe that the machine created to give her the husband and daughter he promised her.
This is the only explanation I’ve read that makes sense lol
Ive been thinking hard about how sloan didnt make it, and i have a theory that allison made it part of her deal to leave sloan behind to get back at Luther, considering that allison is on the edge of basically being a villan

the umbrella academy got sent back to the
original time line where everything was normal.
The reason they didn't get their powers is
because their "twins" aka their selves from that
period exist and they have that power. So only
one twin of each has the power. Also Ben
returned and not Salone because Ben was part
of the Umbrella academy but he returned with
the "new" ben mind. In the credits, that Ben is
the old Ben from that period aka he has the
powers. Hence why he's in Seoul and why he's
dressed that way. I believe s4 will be the

I don't think its that complicated. Allison made a deal to bring back her family and umbrella academy with their memory intact in the reset universe. When it reset, in the original timeline (s1 and s2) there wasn't sparrow academy, it has always been the umbrella academy, sparrow academy was just an anomaly left off from season 2. From the reset, Reginald wife is alive thus doesn't need to create the 43 children with powers which explains why they all don't have powers. But there's another anomaly that Reginald missed out. Ben. When bringing back the umbrella academy, the sparrow version of Ben was brought back. While the umbrella version Ben is in the reset but not the one they know. I bet next season will be about the paradox with 2 Bens (thus why the post credit) and cause another universe chaos (which has always been the storyline for each season). Lol
Reginald says himself something in a sense “whoever built this place”… so I don’t think the hotel is his vessel, also he genuinely doesn’t seem to know how to access it, it’s weird that he knows how to operate it so fast and accurately, but he said it several times, that it’s a was built by someone else…
I agree with you! He has the classic "Diary full of notes". My theory is the search for this machine is what he's spent most of his immortal life working on, even before came to earth. He only knows how to use it due to that research. That, and the hotel itself, which my theory is he did actually build the hotel. The hotel is just a way for us to perceive and interact with the machine.
I can't see the inner workings of Twitter. But Twitter was built in such a way that I can build an app called "Oblivion" that communicates with it. Then I just need to know how to use Oblivion. Twitter can build universes and exists in a dimension I can't even perceive or comprehend, but Oblivion exists in a way we can actually interact with.
I'm a developer, so I might be projecting here. But this is my theory! :D
@@MasonLopez I reached similar conclusions. Hargreeves knew there were more advanced aliens than himself, aliens that created reality through a back door pocket dimension. I wish this idea was more built up throughout the season. I think there is some inside joke about the guardians and the cockroaches, like on the lvl of Douglas Adams writing about Mice creating the earth for an experiment; what if alien cockroaches created their reality? LOL

Theory For Sloane: I think the televator thing you're mentioning gets invented by Five next season and Luther uses it alone to go back at Oblivion ( He uses it alone to avoid paradox psychosis cuz he was dead at the time Reg was sucking other souls for resetting the universe therefore no one other than him can be present in both timelines) and brings back Sloane to the timeline where the universe was reset. That's why when they all arrived on an elevator, Sloane wasn't with them cuz she and Luther were already at the place where the televator was. As of Doppelgangers, I think that's what is supposed to happen next season.

I found it weird that everybody immediately got accustomed to calling him Viktor and he/him. Nobody had a slip of the tongue or anything while they're adjusting to the new Vanya/Viktor. It's as if with a flip of the switch, Vanya became Viktor to everyone.

I think that Hargreaves already had settings inputted when Alison killed sliced him. As he had a deal with Alison, he set Ray as the father of Clair and both alive. How Allison makes the bee line to check on Clair and Ray after getting out the elevator seems like she was sure about her daughter and Ray being alive. Hargreaves didn't want any other to be left alive, which is why he was letting them die before Alison sliced him. And since he didn't have any other plan to kill the seven other than let them die here, they survive.
I think Hargreaves struck a deal with Allison to bring back Claire & also protect the OG members of TUA which is why she told Viktor to ‘trust that she made a deal with their dad to save everyone including Luther & Klaus’. I think he didn’t mind them dying to power the machine because he knew that they’d be fine once his plan fell through. I’m not sure if she knew for sure that Ray was gonna be there because she looked genuinely shocked when he appeared in the doorway.

Also considering they made they deal while Allison was drunk and super angry with Viktor, saving everyone prob wasnt on her mind at the time except for the rage of losing Clair and Ray. I personally thought of Reginald as a chaotic neutral because I think he did somewhat care about them and even without Allison he would have brought them back but he done it through chaotic means

This series hands down continues to be one of my favorite and sought after shows every season!!! I try binging it slowly to take it in but it was such an enjoyable ride. I’m excited for the next season!!!
i swear umbrella academy, Doom Patrol and the Boys continue to be the best superhero tv and tv in general out there. Something about obscure and unknown comics adaptations become fantastic tv shows. Also the weird wtf scenes are so fun, like in doom patrol when they start a cult about a big eye in the sky to save the world from obliteration or billy butcher crashing head first into a live whale and traumatizing the deep and hughie for life in the boys.

I think that having Ray back at the end was part of the deal that Reg struck with Allison. When he was activating the machine at the very end, it seemed like he was putting the parameters of the new universe in... so I imagine the deal was the following: Allison helps reunite the group to activate the machine, and in the new universe, Reg writes Ray into existence as the father of her daughter giving her the happy life she wanted. Pretty good deal to restart the universe, also given that Reg becomes basically its ruler!
Yeah that’s what I think too but on the other side Allison hallucinated Reg not long before she might be hallucinating Reg but not her daughter but still yeah it’s too suspicious they are probably stuck in the Dad universe and will need to drink potions of thoses particles that breaded their mother, gave them powers and that seems to power the reality alternator. But time travel + parallel universes are two things already way too complicated by themselves and when mixed together it can creates plot holes and start contradicting itself , I hope we get a satisfying answer next season.
I think one of the reason Reginald also chose different children is because of Five’s ability to change the timeline and he is a liability. The discovery of their father being in the elite group would mean that he can’t go incognito which he always have wanted. He was very secretive especially to his “children”.
The particles he had in a jar in a flashback were the things that made the women pregnant and the kids to have powers. When they were in Oblivion standing on top of the stars, the particles were being sucked out of them and being used as fuel I'd assume. The only one who should have powers would be Allison, but who really knows right?
Honestly I was never a fan of Allison as a character, fist season she whined about the end of the world not mattering and wanting to be with her daughter. 2nd season she whined about her husband . 3rd season she whined about both . She wasn't even a good sister to Victor, she was sympathetic but only cared if it related to her needs or made her feel superior. She uses everyone, she didn't give to flying flips about Luther's happiness in any way because she was jealous when he met Sloan . Which ment her safety net boyfriend or comfort object was no longer hers. Not to mention every time leap or reality her priorities were way off and she lashed out at everyone , when she didn't get her way.
Shes' always been happy when others are happy unless she's not then fuck their happiness.
Gosh, umbrella academy has to be one of the best series I've watched

I think Reginal was going to betray Allison. If Klaus didnt make it back Allison would of had to step on a star and then be reseted with the rest of the academy. The thing that leaves me with a question is that 5 got his arm back. If he goes into making the Agency he has to loose it again somehow because that would make a new paradox.
Finding out that Five was the head of the Commission, it makes you wonder if he "Nickel & Dimed" Hazel & Cha Cha in the first season constantly to create that tension that helped tear them apart and make it easier for Five to do what he had to do?
My theory so far, I think that the particles that are seen being taken out of everyone that was standing on the stars had their powers taken away and that Alison might still have hers, when Reggie was in the cockpit, he reset the new universe to have his wife back alive and whatever was Alisons part of their deal since we never hear what Alisons and Reggie's deal was.

I think for Allison, considering the deal she made with Hargreeves; the deal was that Hargreeves would get his wife back by resetting the universe and that Allison would get her husband and daughter back which would out rule your theory that the husband is just a hallucination like it was before. Just my theory tho
I still don't get what Hargreeves get from the deal with Allison, like he has nothing to gain from making that kind of deal with her she isn't bringing anything in particular to the table. He doesn't seem like the type to just do that for someone.
I think its kind of cool how similar Robert Sheehans powers from the Umbrella Academy are to his powers in Misfitz.

Klaus has been and continues to be my favorite. Loved his arc this season. Didn’t think about Luther being another evolution of his powers, so that is cool.
My personal theory is that Allison died when she reset the universe and is in her version of the afterlife with her daughter and husband who were also lost in one way or the other. This would also bring a little peace to the fandom considering Allison was sorta the villain of the season.

I think Hargreaves typed in Alison’s request along with his, on the machine before Allison killed him. That was their deal.

I think it's obvious the jist of the deal Allison made was that she would get her husband & daughter back in the reset - but that leaves the question, why did she believe Hargreaves had that kind of power to make such a deal? All she knew was that he believed he could reset the universe - whatever that really meant. Not sure what it means that Ray & the daughter were brought forward into time - that has to be some sort of paradox that will play into Season 4. The fact that she wasn't healed is a BIG clue to whatever is going to occur in Season 4. I also think Sloane got "returned" - for lack of a better word - to whatever existence/life she was living before Season 2. She still would have been born in that life, the difference being her mother didn't sell her to Hargreaves. So she'll be there for Luther to find in Season 4, but she won't know him. Poor Luther, lol. This series is the craziest & most fun I've ever watched & the writers & actors have done such a great job telling this nutty story. (btw, @Heavy Spoilers - I hit the "dislike" button by accident & quickly corrected that - sorry!)
Everything we know about Hargreeves we know from him. But he lies. So what if he isn't from another planet but another universe and this one was created to trap him thus he knew how to reset his own trap. He can't leave the universe but he can reset the parameters to be more to his liking.
They are a simulation within a simulation machine that Hargreaves found. He did not create the universe, but found a machine which allowed him to input things and reset. Once he makes a universe, he steps out of the machine to enjoy it but things in the simulation map to machine features. As example, the reset button was recreated in machine and he had to figure it out.

This is the theory that makes more sense. They even mention that "the universe is thought to be a hologram" on the tv when klaus and luther meet in the afterlife.
If Ray was made near immortal, he could exist in present day with the same appearance without triggering a paradox. While Claire looks at him fondly, it doesn't automatically mean that she is biologically Ray's, just that Ray is helping raise her. But yeah I think killing Hargreaves before he hit the reset button made him the villain the umbrella academy thought he was. And maybe his ego was what killed his world the 1st time.
I agree with everything except that it was his ship. He didn't know what to do once there were in the hotel. He was looking for clues. The hotel/machine for space reset was created by someone else...
So I think the thing with Alison was just another ploy. She was promised her family back if she does what hargraves says. Remember 5 told Hargraves about future him. He realized that if 5 is left with powers he will found the Commission and the loop will start again.
I felt like if five didn't step on one of the star plates, the timeline would've been different to where Abigail wouldn't have been there with Hargreeves. Or five would have changed the timeline again like you said, Hargreeves probably knew what five would've done that. Maybe he knew the outcome since five told him about his future self saying not to save the world.
I believe Allison getting what she really wanted in the end was a result of the deal she made with the old man. Remember he stopped her from standing on one of the bells. This could be because knowing what would happen to her and he was honouring his side of the deal. I'm guessing that in configuring how the reset would turn out, he added " give Allison her happy ending" or something like that. Reginald really had nothing to lose by doing this for her alone
Show runner confirmed that the Ben on the Train is Sparrow Ben. Ben made a plan with Reginald. At least that’s what he told Fei before she and Christopher died. On the train we see him smile because he is on that mission and still listening to Reginald, since in his on words, that’s all he has left.

@@roro13021 it would seem that since show runner confirmed that the Ben on the train is Sparrow Ben, then scene with sparrow Ben on the train is in the future. Which is where I think the show will pickup if there is a season 4. It will be the continuation/maturity of the deal made with Allison and plan/mission made with Sparrow Ben. The “mission with sparrow Ben was mentioned like three or four times. 1. When Reginald brought it up to sparrow Ben. 2. When sparrow Ben brought it up to Fei right before she died but wouldn’t give her the details when she asked. 3. When sparrow Ben brought it up to Reginald in Hotel oblivion right before they all split up. 4.I feel like his argument for everything was we gotta listen to dad we gotta listen to his mission, do what he tells us to do. I can’t shake the feeling that he was on a completely different mission than everyone else. Even different from Allison‘s mission which was to get everyone into hotel oblivion.

I'm thinking sparrow Ben is going to recruit and create his own academy. I think that's why he was on the train to find his other self which is his doppelganger so he can recruit him and make him number one which is what he always wanted from the beginning. Idk that's just my theory on all of this.
Love the video. Most of the remaining questions I had were answered. But I'm still confused as to why the Sparrows, the Umbrella Academy and other select few like the desk clerk from Hotel Oblivion never got wiped out by the Kugelblitz. I have my own theories, like that he could be a robot like Grace Hargreeves. But we never got any clear answers about him as a character.
It was the fans who helped Ben become a more prominent character on the show, and in that spirit, I hope the Sparrows got their own elevator somewhere, powerless but alive in this reset. I liked them a lot!

Nice breakdown and theories. Imho this new reality has Wanda Maximoff's House of M written all over it. It basically gave everyone's true desires. Abigail being alive and reunited with Reggie. Reggie ruling over the world similar to Magneto & fam. Luther not being modified into an ape (or martian ape to be exact) - human hybrid creature. The biggest hint would be Ray being Allison's husband (with him still youthful, as if he's being plucked straight from the 60s), and still having Claire as her child and living in that same house. Another being Sloane's desires, she wanted to travel around the world, so she's currently doing that.
Such a great season. Absolutely love the characters. My head hurts from all the timey-wimey stuff, but I’m here for it.
Why is Five still a teenager tho? If everyone else was “fixed” then why didn’t he age up appropriately?
I enjoyed this season, and I felt there were many fun surprises. I had read a review which almost convinced me to skip this season entirely - I'm glad I watched it - actually binged it over a couple of days. 🙂
I love this show even with the changes from the comic.. Man num 5 is definitely my favorite.. I hope we see him in other things he's an awesome actor
Theory time: What do you think would have happened if Alisson didn't kill Hargreeves in the machine?
- My take is that just like Alisson, Reginald would have come out in this new world and his first thought would have been to search for his wife, Abigail... That's all fine and dandy, but just like Ben1 and Ben2, Abigail would have been next to her husband, Reginald1 (who would have no idea about Umbrellas, Sparrows and master plans). So this Reginald2 which would emerge from Oblivion in search of his wife would probably want to kill and replace his other self (somehow also explaining or tricking Abigail that it's all fine). Yeah... would have been a head scracher.
- But he could have also ended up in another timeline if we believe that Allison is now in another timeline (with her powers intact and bandage on her arm). Then maybe Hargreeves would have been in that separate timeline. If so... why would he want that? Is there something special there? Is Abigail also there?
- Also would Allison make it back if she was neither in the machine nor on a bell/star at the end? (just like Hargreeves intended if you remember he said "not you!")
- I'm basically trying to piece together the apparently 3 separate places that one could stand on and where they take it/what they do:
1. Inside cockpit;
2. On the stars/bells;
3. Anywhere else in the hotel.
