  • In this video, I run through some of the common structures and features of philosophical texts that you'll encounter in Section 1 of the GAMSAT exam as well as some of the strategies that I used to help digest the information.
    As I mention, Section 1 is not my strongest section so this is simply advice based on my own experience after a subscriber asked for some help in this area. Take from it, what you will
    A huge amount of editing work went into this one, so if you enjoyed it, please like the video and subscribe for more if you haven't already!

    Hey, I'm Jesse, I'm a professional private tutor and founder of Simplified Study Tutoring. Since 2011, I've been helping students take a simpler approach to their studies and educating people in anything from science and maths to English and economics. In March 2021 I sat the GAMSAT and achieved an 84 including a 100 in Section 3. Hopefully, that's credentials enough to give this video a good watchin'.

    Thanks for this breakdown Jesse! Philosophical texts basically sounds like the first year Critical Thinking unit I took (which is reassuring).

    Hi Jesse! I'm a philosophy undergrad at the University of Edinburgh awaiting my degree classification and preparing for my application to GEM in the UK. I just wanted to express my gratitude to you for sharing these videos and the content on your website. Your ability to guide us through this mega exam is incredibly impressive and I have learnt so much from you. (Having studied it for four years I am particularly impressed here by how you have broken down the philosophical method) Cheers!

    Hey! Firstly thank you for the help. I have seen other videos from you and wanted to ask where were you able to access soo many acer questions as I saw somewhere that you had said you did near 2000 questions and most of them being ACER. I wanted to ask as I cannot find these resources and I keep running out of ACER material quite quickly.

    hi jesse, just wondering, since the gamsat is online now, do you still get spare paper if you needed to work things out (esp for section 3)? thanks (also love your videos!!)

    • @jesseosbourne
      @jesseosbourne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, you get 2 pieces of A4 paper for sections 1 and 2 combined, then another two pieces of paper for Section 3. One of the two pages is a page with login details for the computer printed on it but you can scribble all over it once you're logged in.
      you can now opt to take in a small whiteboard (no bigger than 30cm x 25cm) instead of using paper. Personally I'd prefer the paper though

      @@jesseosbourne oh right im glad they give out paper i prefer it too over the whiteboard- much easier and more familiar! thank you for replying :)

      I missed out on an interview in last year's application cycle. I explain a little more about why this was, in this video: th-cam.com/video/ROZPG3dBWhg/w-d-xo.html
      This year, I'm applying just about everywhere!
