I have purchased the ACER material but find myself wanting to save it a little. Studying/working and raising a primary school aged child !!! shooting for 15 -20 hour a week consistently for the next 4 months and crossing fingers!

I am in a similar position in that after nearly 7 years in the workforce as a nurse I have found the passion is still there. In my March 2021 sitting, I also felt that the S3 questions were very maths based. The September 2021 sitting was less maths based as far as I could tell. I walked out of the September 2021 sitting feeling that I had likely scored very low in S3.
I've heard similar comments about September this year (it's a shame I didn't sit it for comparison haha). The March sitting definitely felt very data/graph heavy but it looks like different testing locations get variants from a question pool so its difficult to track for patterns. It's definitely worth building on maths reasoning and conceptual understanding of formulae. Not memorising but more so understanding how equations can explain phenomena and how changes in variables impact other variables (increases, decreases etc)

I am finding the section 3 of GAMSAT to be a lot more abstract and logical reasoning based, rather than science-content based, so having a lot of trouble with questions.

Hopefully it is! I was sick of seeing prep companies fear mongering about the exam for the sake of forcing sales of their overpriced and poor quality 'courses' without any real credentials. I figured that given I've spent such a long time teaching others, why not make free material that is better than theirs and therefore makes them redundant. It was a lot of work in putting it all together so quickly but I'm glad I did it

Hi Jesse, thank you for the videos. You mentioned that you purchased all of the ACER resources and that you did 20 questions at a time. How did you do that? Did you purchase the untimed practice questions and then save the document somehow? I thought I saw that you can only access the untimed practice questions a certain number of times before you have to purchase it again. I could be wrong!
Hi Jenna, yep so you can purchase the ACER sample questions as well as Tests 1, 2, and 3 through your ACER GAMSAT account. The Practice Questions come free with registration (which should hopefully open very soon). You can download them as pdfs and work through them at your own pace. Access to the materials in your account is limited to 12 months from purchase but you can still download them and hold onto them indefinitely just not publish/share them. They also now offer a timed/untimed Automated Scoring System for Section 2 which are a single use service that simulates the Section 2 user interface/text editor layout used in the actual test. You can choose from 1 of 8 options for Task A themes and 1 of 8 options for Task B options (previously used in past tests) and submit a response for automated scoring. Anecdotally, people seem to have mixed opinions on its accuracy relative to their own scores. I used it about 12 or so times in preparation for my March 2021 sitting and it seemed to be pretty consistent but gave wide score bands. I mostly got 73-84 in mine and then achieved a 75 on that sitting. The data was updated for March 2022 and they increased the number of themes from 2 pairs to 8 pairs (64 combos) and the score bands seemed to tighten up a bit. I used it about 8 times and scored almost entirely in the 69-72 score band but achieved an 80 in the actual sitting for Section 2. Best of luck!
Hey Sophia! It's hard to say whether a certain percentage score will achieve a particular GAMSAT score given that each question is weighted and ACER determine GAMSAT section scores as a 'performance score' rather than a raw accuracy score. In my practice, I averaged around 85% for Section III of the ACER material but did feel particularly confident with my answers on the day of the actual exam, so this may have been higher. The section score really depends on which questions you are getting right rather than just how many you get right given that ACER have stated that some questions are not actually included in the score calculation if they are not deemed to be able to 'separate the crowd'. I did find though that the ACER practice exams were very indicative of the actual exam, if anything I found the actual exam to be a little on the easier side in terms of the balance of tricky questions, but this could have also been practice effects. Don't pay for content, it's just a cash grab by prep companies with poor quality products and extortionate prices. Hey! By saying the exam includes more and more of mathematical skills did you mean concepts of maths like trigonometry etc or the actual calculations (multiplication etc) of 3 or more digit values?
Hey Sarah! There's an increasing empahsis on the use of general arithmetic skills but there aren't directly maths dedicated questions. The more common skills are estimating multiplications of decimals and large/small numbers using scientific notation and index laws (eg. The Gas Law PV=nRT). The other common skill is the manipulation of logs values and the ability to read log scales/orders of magnitude as well as rearranging formulae (physics & chem mostly). I'm planning to do a new video going through some of the high-frequency maths skills too
I guess there are no explicit guarantees of a place based on a GAMSAT score alone as selection is based on other factors like GPA and Interviews. I applied in the 2022 entry cycle and did not receive an interview. However, I only applied to UniMelb as I wasn't in a position to be able to move interstate based on my exisiting work commitments at the time and am now applying around the country for 2023 entry The best we can do is maximise each of the selection components as best we can and hope that it's enough to get over the line for that entry cycle :)
Jesse, for section 3 What can i do if there's a question that i do not understand how the answer was chosen, is there a way to find an explanation about it? I struggle with this situation alot
There are worked explanations on TH-cam that might be useful. Just be mindful that most are produced by prep companies and in my opinion are often over-explained or overcomplicated for the sake of justifying their paid courses.

Why did u decide to work/tutor after you first application in 2013 and not do another course to try and get a better GPA?
