F2 cars are some of the fastest race cars in the world. Around Spa F2 is 20 seconds faster than GT3 and only 2 seconds slower than LMP1 cars.

@@xenoph9380 It's a pointless argument. If there were no rules the fastest car would be a hybrid/mashup of both (something similar to an F1 but with a closed cockpit). Something like that RedBull x1 concept car.
F2 cars are also about as fast if not faster than IndyCars at COTA

Speed = distance / time. Circuit de Catalunya is 4,655 metres long in car configuration. You can work out each car's average speed from there.

If anyone is interested: F2 is around the speed of 1984-1986 F1, F3 is around the speed of 1979-1981 F1.
Edit: so this is based off of this whole generation of F2 cars since 2018 and not this single lap. Same with F3, but with lap times since 2019. F2 actually got a bit slower this year.

Believe it or not Modern F2 is as fast as older F1.
F2 would beat a 1992 Formula 1 car if it wasn't a Williams, Mclaren, Bennetton or Ferrari.
@@DabDabGoose Looking at overall speed, a current F2 car should be around the same speed as 1986 F1 cars. The early 90s cars would be slightly faster.

nice comparison. But I think it would be even better, if the actual speed and position of break and throttle would be visible, like in the race. It would really show the difference not only in speed, but also breaking.

I'd personally swap your f2 and f3 analogies. That F3 engine sounds so raw, like the lambo v12 engines since they are both naturally aspirated. The F2 sounds like the supra with that turbocharger sound

It's amazing how close the F3/GP3 car is to the F2 car - it's also amazing how much faster the F3/GP3 car of today is compared the the 2010 GP3 car!

The F1 lap was green green purple meaning sector 1 personal best, sector 2 personal best, sector 3 best of everyone... Both F2 and F3 were yellow yellow yellow, which means that their laps weren't even their best laps of the day, so definately not the best laps out of everyone that day.
Qualifying laps are faster than racing laps because in qualifying the car has a light fuel load and fresh tires. The F1 lap was 3 seconds faster than the F1 race lap record. The F2 lap was 1 second slower than the F2 race lap record, and the F3 was 2 seconds slower than the F3 race lap record
The lap times in this video are
F1 1 min 15
F2 1 min 28
F3 1 min 33
Suggesting a difference F1 to F2 of 13 seconds, and F1 to F3 of 18 seconds
Actual racing lap record times are
F1 1 min 18
F2 1 min 27
F3 1 min 31
Which makes a difference from F1 to F2 of 9 seconds and from F1 to F3 of 13... The laps they chose added 4 seconds to the F2 car and 5 seconds to the F3 car.
Watch again and use your eyes, you'll see the F2 and F3 are yellow yellow yellow which means there is no way they are the best laps of the day, while the F1 lap is green green purple... At least have half an idea about what you're saying when you have an outburst.
