    Thank you guys for not always reviewing the Lariat Ultra Platinum Ranch Deluxe quad-turbo 22-speed auto with just-killed raw hide leather, 37" touch screen, titanium wheels and a fart ventilation system. For those of us who will only ever be able to afford a F-150 XL at 40K, this site is one of the only ones you can go to for a review.

    They have these in the XLT package at dealers for like 32k. No one wants them because they are “weak”, even though 90% don’t need the extra power. This is a port and direct injection motor that is naturally aspirated. Fewer things to go wrong, I bet these motors out last all the ecoboosts

      No, msrp for a 4x4 xl without options is $32k. The $36k truck in the video has options, a 4x2 XL starts at $27K. The truck in the video but with 4x4 wil probably have a msrp of about $40k.

The only thing I replaced on my truck was the starter but other than that mostly was just simple maintenance, replaced the transmission fluid just to get rid of the shuttering it was making and it hasn't had a problem ever since.

    TFL, you should make a video that explains vehicle pricing to people. MSRP is a price suggested by the manufacturer, it isn't a fixed price. It is dealers that set actual prices for vehicles. Dealers sometimes sell at or even above MSRP, but the vast majority of vehicles are sold well below MSRP. It's amazing how so few people understand even these basic things.

    • @Carlos-pi1xj
      @Carlos-pi1xj 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dumbass Liberal Most trucks offer heavy incentives. Only when a model is first introduced are incentives not available, and that usually doesn't last long. Also, you don't need incentives to get a discount off MSRP. MSRP is not the actual price, it is just the suggests retail price. I mean, it's called "Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price." Anyone with basic buying knowledge knows how to slash thousands off the suggested sticker price. In fact, I've even purchased cars with thousands off sticker without incentives. Don't know why you're making such a big deal about these things. You lack buying knowledge.
      www.autotrader.com/car-tips/buying-a-car-whats-an-msrp-228292
      "MSRP: What Does It Mean?
      The MSRP, or manufacturer's suggested retail price, is quite simply the price that the manufacturer suggests that the dealer should ask for a car. This is also referred to as the retail price, or the dollar amount that a retailer should be asking for the car according to the automaker. Think of it as the car-dealer version of the price tag you see on a television at an electronics store.
      Although the MSRP is the suggested price, dealers have the freedom to ask more or less than this figure. If a car is in high demand, a dealer might include a market adjustment, which will increase the vehicle's price beyond the suggested price. The dealer can do this because they feel that the market demand is high enough to ask for more than the suggested price of the car.
      Of course, dealers can also charge less than the suggested price for a car. In fact, the suggested price is typically a starting point for negotiations, and in many cases, customers insist on paying less than the MSRP. Dealers have the authority to make these changes to the car's final selling price because a suggested price is merely that -- a suggestion. It's ultimately up to dealers to decide whether they want to follow it."

    • @spamfried894
      @spamfried894 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is no point in complaining about MSRP if MSRP isn't being followed by the people selling them. Stop being such a dumbass liberal.

    • @FrankySilverFace
      @FrankySilverFace 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nodak81 totally agree. The Msrp on my f150 was $41k then I added $3k in dealer installed options and only paid $31k. Andre usually does a better job of truthing.

  • @jimmym5262
    @jimmym5262 7 ปีที่แล้ว +46

    Cheap f150 for 36k?! Come on TFL you know better than that. That's not cheap at all for a base model. Maybe your getting to used to driving the luxury trucks thinking that is cheap. That's a lot for having the base engine. Maybe if it had a bigger 6 or the 8 then ok. But with that teeny tiny 3.3 the price should be under 30 to be affordable as a base model id say.

      Taylon Fitch That's not true. Roman may prefer Ford because he loves his Raptor but he never talks bad about other trucks without reason. Andre happens to drive a Chevy, and he seems to be unbiased. Nathan is definitely unbiased, I believe he drives a Toyota and he seems to prefer the latest Chevys and Rams over Ford. Mr. Truck seems to be a Ford guy, but he is not afraid to call it as he sees it. If Ford does something he doesn't like, he's vocal.

    I have a 2015 xl sport with the n/a 3.5 and I love it. Smooth ride and powertrane compared to the previous 4.6 v8. The ecoboost is what's marketed to the masses but you have got to get the truck that fits you best. I used to own a 5.4 xlt. Horrible fuel economy and no top end passing power compared to any of the new engines ford offers today. $37000 used to be luxury car territory but now it's base line truck. It's our new normal.

    It’s Funny how the 3.3L V6 base engine also has the rawest and most aggressive sound out of all the F-150 engines. That’s right, it sounds cooler than the 5.0 V8 coyote, which I think is way overrated. You can get the bigger EcoBoost V6 which is Faster and tows more than the 5.0, and you can get the 3.3 V6 which sounds better and is more Fuel efficient than the 5.0.

    I reckon the base 4 door 4x4 would run into the $40K plus area.

    Nobody seems to understand inflation either. 20 years ago an extended cab xlt was about 22,000 dollars, that's 34,000 today. And a 2018 is vastly superior in every way.

    The 2017 least model (3.5 N/A) is even better: port injection only. The 2018+ has dual injection which doubles the complexity of fuel system. 2x injectors, 2x pumps, 2x rails, 2x wiring, plus complexity of software. The idea of dual injection is a band-aid of direct injection's well known problem. The 2017 least mustang (3.7 N/A) is also the last mustang you can buy with such pure simple engine

      David P Well if people want a luxury car with a bed, that's their choice, a 90k Ford will last about 15 yrs longer than a 90k Range Rover, in some respects is more versatile, and from what I've heard,trucks hold their value pretty well,like a 15 yr old f 350 is still going for like 10 -15 k whereas a 15 yr old Range Rover is like 4k or less. So although I wouldn't pay that much, I can see why some people do.

    I hope everyone on here that is interested in a pickup understands that all brands (or at least the three domestics) come in priced roughly the same in different price points at different feature levels, and that a base truck 2WD, half-ton MSRPs in the $27K-$28K range before incentives after destination charge. My 2015 F150 truck has the 2.7-liter Ecoboost, which added $800 at the time; it has the chrome bumpers and aluminum wheels, which added $500 at the time; it has the first-level option package, which added $1100 at the time (priced at $2200 but with trim-level incentive; pwr glass, keyless remote, cruise and a few other options like a blue-tooth-like system called Ford Basic), and all added up, including destination, came in at or about $30K. But then there may be incentives at different times in different amounts. Mine was $3,000. Most likely, to do this all again in the same scenario, lets say late Summer 2018 as the 2019s are arriving, a truck configured much like mine will probably MSRP at or about $32K or $33K and then they'll be a similar incentive. But keep in mind, that's with the 2.7-liter EB engine option, and they're sporting the cheaper base engine. So yes, one can absolutely do better than $36K, and I'm not even counting dealer fees and all of that extra a particular dealer may require. That will vary a lot from market to market and based on how much shopping and haggling one is will to do.

    V6 engines are ok. You don't get enough of a difference in fuel economy to say its better than a v8. V6 engines kinda ruin the point of a half ton in my opinion. Someday you will be mad at yourself for buying a v6 instead of a v8 when it only makes a 5 mpg difference in fuel economy and you are considering pulling something that is too much for a v6. I have a 2014 f150 with a 6.2 liter v8. Has hauled many things and my buddy who has a v6 on his 2016 f150 asks me to tow his 3100 pound camper. He has ridden with me while I am towing it and said it rides alot smoother when I pull it as compared to him.

    $36,000 is crazy for this truck. My 2011 FX4 Super Cab 5.0L was stickered at $39,900 and back in 2011 (When the FX4's were their own models) my truck was a mid-range model placed between an XLT and a Lariat. Basically, my trucks a 4X4 Lariat with more sporty looking trim and a different interior scheme. But 36K for a base model truck with a base V6? Surely this won't be the ''cheapest'' F-150 Ford offers. I just went to their build and price site and a basic XL bare bones F-150 starts at 27K which is still really expensive for a base model truck, but I doubt the MSRP is going jump from 27K to 36K in a single model year.
