    Am 42yrs now, not been fishing since late twenties. I used to fish of Morecambe bay, park up, put football on the radio and just cast out. It was a chill thing to do. Talk to others, sandwich, flask. Would love to take up again. They have placed rockery on the coast so its unable to cast at where i used to go. There's over spots. so i may take up again. Forgot the basics so this really helped.

    Glad you enjoyed it, we may not have caught many fish but we wanted to show people that beach fishing can be enjoyable, especially in the summer with warmer weather and longer evenings (not sure about the warmer weather in the UK at the moment though!)

      Its very easy for beginners to be overwhelmed with everything starting off. Keep it simple, few ready made rigs and worms will be more than enough. Good to see someone take their kids out, tight lines!

    Not for general short/mid range fishing.Only for long casting/softer baits .We clip both up and down,plus have one coming up using paperclips as a standby clip down for beginners . Clip downs are useful when you have a strong headwind.

    Graeme you're the best, totally entertaining keeping the passion alive. I haven't beach fished the east coast for over twenty years but watching your films have rekindled my interest in sea fishing. Due to your enthusiasm I decided to dust down my rods buy some new stuff and fish my first session this week. A few whiting and a solitary dab from Aldeburgh made my trip wothwhile, so I'll definitely will be going again soon. Totally Awesome!

    Thanks for this video. I just started fishing again and can't get enough of these beginners videos. I've been out practising along the beach here in Norfolk. So far no fish supper but it's August so just feeding the crabs. It won't be long now till we see all the twinkling lights along the beach and hopefully a few suppers being caught. I used to fish with my grandfather's rod and reel at Gorleston, it was a rigid rod and a wooden reel the line was so stiff in winter it helped prevent bird nests and I needed an 8oz lead to get it out there. We always caught something with whatever bait we could find whether it was earth worms or bacon fat or left over lug from other fishermen. You needed a strong thumb to cast and got a callous from stopping the reel. No fancy tackle, but the fish were there. Happy days!

    If in UK,no,not yet.But the pier will probably make a small charge for using it.Generally just a few pounds.Beaches are free,unless otherwise stated,or you are near a marina etc,moored boats.Always best to check locally,but wide open beaches there is generally no problem

    I have done wading/surfcasting from Cape Hatteras up to Cape Cod etc, mostly for Red Drum/Bluefish so know that wading is more popular over your way.Here,the emphasis is on longer casting techniques, so no need to wade. I think our guys can put a lead out almost 300 yards on a field now ? and many can fish baits over 150 yards, so no need to wade. Good point though, but we don't seem to get the rips you do.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there's something about the unexpected when shore fishing. And its great to get out in the open air anyway. Good luck with it, and try some night fishing. Often better in shallower waters.

    never underestimate old smelly dead rag worm its an awesome bait..and some times it exactly what you need and will pull fish in when other baits wont...but great little vid guys well done :).

  • @TAFishing
    @TAFishing  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't know the area, but I remember they used big clumps of mussel meat bound onto the hook with elasticated thread.That was years ago, but I bet it would still work. Two more good beach films done last week. Go up in about 10 days. Lots of tackle rig tips from real experts. Worth watching. Plus plenty of fish of course.

  • @TAFishing
    @TAFishing  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The mussels we have are very soft out of the shell.They are a good bait,but you have to bind them on the hook with elasticated thread or they explode everywhere on the cast.They cast better with a clipped down rig.Great for wrasse from the shore,or cod and whiting from a boat.

    It depends what ground you are fishing over and what the bass might be feeding on.If over open sandy beaches try lugworm,ragworm,sandeels or razorfish.If over broken ground,fillet of fresh mackerel,peeler crab,hermit crab,or frozen launce(a big sandeel)

    after being interested in fishing for years , but never actually going , couple months ago found a fishing buddy and armed myself with some reasonably priced gear , watched your videos and got out there, we had a family holiday to anglesey, north wales in which myself and my fishing buddy (who turns out to be my Fiancés sister's boyfriend , so that was handy as he was there) went fishing pretty much everyday, anyway long story short , we're well and truly hooked, and have since suffered many a' ear bashing for spending practically any moment we can fishing........ luckily were already seasoned pros in the art of selective hearing :) thanks for all the videos !! :D

      Any tips for bait fishing the Bristol channel this time of year? Heading off to watchet next week and i seem to be the only person alive in the uk hasn't yet caught a doggie, i seem to be a damn whiting magnet haha

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Watchet is a good place to start. Ideal for breaking your "Doggie Duck" !! Try frozen sandeel(there's a shop in Watchet High street),or strip of mackerel.Top bait would be fresh mackerel, but catching the mackerel is always a problem now they are commercialled so much. Try frozen. And try at night.Better still for dogfish.

    Sure. That will hold your bait in the same spot if there is no strong wind or tide flow. But the wired breakout of nose-wired leads will hold even better in areas of strong tides.
