I recorded mixed and mastered my song, 'brand new', on my page, stock logic - but I'm falling in love with many plugins. Right now I like half-time and ozone.
I studied music performance and production at university and one of my tutors said that when he first started getting into production he was so fixed on getting expensive plugins that he didn't focus on actually learning how to use them
HELL TO THE YES, THE ONLY PLUG IN I WANT IS FREE, being Vital. Hell to the yes though dude never spend money until you unlock everything! I started by taking garage band beyond its limits before getting logic
This is super useful thanks so much man! I have always just used an arpeggiator on basses but this way is so much better, and as you demonstrated if there is a sweeping effect over the pad or bass then that isn't lost as the note doesn't re-trigger. Really cool trick thanks a lot!
Wow. This video was super helpful. I've been trying to find a good automated solution for the stutter in Logic without drawing in the gating. Most of the time, I want it fitting into a rhythm anyway, so this was a very simple and elegant way to do just that!
awesome video man! thanks for sharing these wonderfully interesting and time saving tricks! would love to see more production related videos from you! keep em coming. thanks again!
Yea, this is a game changer, I've been struggling to get the same effect on guitars using autofilter, I think I'm going to have a much easier time with tremolo.... who'd have thought it!? Thanks so much
Came across this tutorial again randomly. Fantastic. Had to revisit your bandcamp afterward. Good shit, man. So much movement. Really expressive. When's the album coming out? Ha. I'd be interested to hear what you've done recently.
gave me some cool ideas, thanks man, didn't use to use the tremolo that much. the idea i just came up with is, use tremolo to create a pluck then bounce it out, reverse it, then on the midi lower the % dry % so it's not so audible then add sidechain compression and use the one reversed i think it would give some nice movement. give it a try i will too!
Really helpful tutorial. Wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to glide/fade midi notes into each other. Not sure if I am using the right term... and example would be the background noise in the song "Montreal" (Feat. Kimbra) by What so not at about 27 seconds in. Kind of new to this- just wondering how you do that.
Hi thanks for viewing - what you're talking about is not really done with the midi notes themselves its done within the programming of the sound in the synthesizer. usually, within the synth its called "legato" or "glide" and there is usually a time knob to choose how long the glide should take to go from one note to the next. then you just have to make sure you overlap your notes while playing. hope that helps.
Yo man, cool video! Nice to know how to take the tremolo to good use. Btw, what was the name of the synth/patch you used in the solo at 15:00-15:30. It's really dope sounding. Reminds me of daft punk's when they use vocoder.
This tutorial makes me realize logic has all the tools .. no need to buy extra plugins till u master what u got !!
I recorded mixed and mastered my song, 'brand new', on my page, stock logic - but I'm falling in love with many plugins. Right now I like half-time and ozone.
A good plug in is made with that in mind

Logic has some great tools, but don't sleep on FabFilter. I always find myself using their reverb and saturation.
This is literally mind blowing. I had no idea tremolo could be used for these kind of effects. Awesome tutorial!
I love this tutorial, Miir Audio, please come back!
Man, that instant sidechain has been what I've wanted for a long time. Fantastic video, thank you so much for the invaluable tip!
Henri Reyes you worded this exactly like I was gonna say it lol
One of the greatest and most practical tutorials I've ever seen on any subject. THANK YOU.
Tip: If you want to draw automation edits accurately to the projects timing, you can use the marquee tool in automation edit mode.
Man this is HACKING! Best trick tutorial i've ever crossed over. Wish there could be more videos bout sound design and stuff! Thanks&Big support!
So clever to use the trem as an LFO man and definitely is so much simpler than trying to do either sidechain or modulation when it’s not necessary
Me from the future, sidechaining on a compressor is actually pretty simple, I just didn’t know it existed yet 😅
That way of doing rhytmic gate is what I was looking for a loooooong time. Thanks man!
“Production is all about tremolo”... after earing minute 14:44 I start to agree with you. Very cool demo!! 👌
The way you used examples to illustrate is really good and much appreciated. Thumbs up.
This dude is legit. Seriously have opened my creativity to a whole new level.

Superb tutorial Mike, loved the effect especially on the vocals. I'll use this today itself in one of my projects. Thanks Again.
So helpful, thank you. Who knew Logic had a built in stutter plugin?
Outstanding, Mike. Long time Logic user and never have seen or would have thought of the Tremelo in those ways. Thanks so much for posting.
THANK YOU! The tremolo-sidechaining thing was really helpful!
Dude I dig your style. Never stop man : )

gave me some cool ideas, thanks man, didn't use to use the tremolo that much. the idea i just came up with is, use tremolo to create a pluck then bounce it out, reverse it, then on the midi lower the % dry % so it's not so audible then add sidechain compression and use the one reversed i think it would give some nice movement. give it a try i will too!
