    Tip for whoever wants to use the Modulator on an audio track : mute the track, create a MIDI track with a Quick Sampler, choose Recorder mode, select the audio track as an input and enable Monitor. Don't forget to press play and there you go, you can add a Modulator on the MIDI effects and modulate any parameter of this channel.
    I wish it was as easy and quick as in Ableton Live though.

      ooo! I was wondering what the workaround was for using the modulator audio tracks. Thanks so much! Out of curiosity, how does ableton live handle this? Does it simply allow for audio track modulation the same way that logic handles midi track modulation?

      i do my yearly check on this to see if they put it already on audio. The only reason I moved to Ableton was because of this. Moving back to logic tho, but I can't believe they didn't put this yet...

      I was able to get the audio track to play through the Quick Sampler, but none of the parameters are available (gray'd out). When I try tweaking the LFO parameters in the Modulator, nothing happens. Been messing with it for a minute, but no luck. Any additional insight is appreciated.

    Cool technique with the MIDI modulator (love messing with it). But just in reference to what you tried earlier with the envelope to affect the rate - you can do that by just using another MIDI modulator with just the ENV and putting it above the MIDI modulator with the filter LFO.

    Wow, didn't know you could do that with just stock logic plugins. Thanks a lot for sharing this!
    I used to use serum fx and midi trigger to do this, which apparently is something logic doesn't handle well. So glad that I can do this natively with just logic plugins now!

    You could as add the automation into the region. Makes copying automation for region based automation much easier. And you can create alternatives for one region and copy that to another place in the arrangement, without bothering the track automation. When you use aliases it even gets easier, when you want to change the automation. Just edit the original region and all aliases will follow along.

    You can do this to audio tracks by automating the cutoff filter in Phat Fx

    In Abelton you can limit the parameter value when "learn Plug-in" parameter. Logic seems to go from 0 to max. Is there a way to limit say to 15%? The idea with the LFO controlling a knob is not to go from minimum to maximum knob value

  • @milocangemi3767

    Is there any chance we can use the Lfo over an Audio channel? Lets say I want to automate a knob (delay feedback for example) how can get that done in logic? Many thanks mate!

    I cant seem to find the modulator in the plugins. where is it?

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Load up any software instrument track. Select the track. In the inspector on the right side of the screen you will see the channel strip for the selected track. (If not, press "I" to show the inspector). On the channel strip you will see a slot labeled "MIDI FX". Add the Modulator there.

  • @kingofdjembe

    Too bad we can't use a Modulator to modulate parameters of another Modulator (like the rate). Seems like we can only do this manually by drawing an automation.

    I tried it with the exact same parameters, but it didn't work:
    "To learn a plug-in parameter, make sure it is an automatable parameter, and is from a plug-in inserted below the MIDI plug-in in the same channel strip."

    interesting and usefull video, thank you.
    Regarding the automation, is there a way to transform a "track automation" you have done to a "region automation"? Or the contrary.
    I've to say I strongly prefer to do my automations on regions than on tracks as it gives me more freedom when I have to construct and deconstruct the piece I'm working on. I use track automations only when I have too, for light global volume adjustements for instance, and at the very end of my composition.

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Double check for sure, but I think you can just switch over to region automation by clicking on the track button when you press A to pull up the automation. Then you can just record it into the region rather than track automation.

    • @FLH3official
      @FLH3official 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MusicTechHelpGuy The idea was to transform an "in-track automation" to an "in-region automation", without having ro redraw/re-record. Like you change a CC11 to CC7 just by selecting the CC# and change it for all the region.

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FLH3official Ah! I see. Great question, and yes you can very easily convert track automation to region automation and vice versa. You can right-click or control-click on any MIDI region and go down to "Automation" and there are options for moving track/region automation data. Such a good question that I decided to make a quick tip video on this. Thanks for the video idea! Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/Otkq5hxVnjU/w-d-xo.html

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FLH3official As for the CC change, that's kind of a different task. You can use the "Modifier MIDI FX" plugin to re-assign any CC to another CC. Maybe I'll make a quick tip video on that too. Thanks.

    I hate the Logic modulator. It's always reseting settings for me and doesn't carry over to duplicated tracks.

    Good info, but this trick has been overused in most techno and house tracks off late so the sound has almost lost its novelty factor right now! :)
