It’s 01:20. I found this just before going to bed and thought I’d watch it the next day. Nope I was glued to it throughout. What a fantastic presentation succinct no messing around and soooo much information. Thanks so much for putting this online. And well done to the musicians. 🎉
Now this is why TH-cam is so brilliant. There's enough stuff in this to keep me going for ages. Isn't it great to watch a video about Logic which doesn't waste a second, doesn't start with someone telling you how wonderful they are, or trying to get you to subscribe? People subscribe because what they see is excellent and they want more. In nearly two hours I was not bored once. Incredible stuff. Thanks Jono
@@trevormadsen Very nice, just listened to your Lightkeeper score. Very good composition and production. Are you using real strings and instruments or sample libraries? And if so, which libraries, for strings, piano etc? Would love to know! Thanks, Chris

I wish I could take my money and throw it at Jono Buchanan. This has been the most helpful and absolutely concise demo and video I have ever seen with a DAW. I actually took hours pausing this video and inputing the exact same things into my own DAW as he went through the class and now I feel so much more knowledgeable about Logic on many different levels. Thank you so very much!!
Key Commands - Shift Option N (Name Region Based on Track Name) - Shift Backslash (Forced Legato) - Control N (Normalize Region Parameters) - Shift G (Overide Group Controls) - ; Snap Region to Play Head
Jono Buchanan is the essence of an Educator - generous, respectful of his audience, obviously likes youth (not jealous of) and is carefully prepared. He also has several videos of his own getting way less views than deserved. I learn so much from him! Thanks Professor and Guildhall for this impecable Masterpiece!
This is one of the greatest tutorial I have ever seen. It gave me some great ideas for both composing & visualizing music to video. As a singer-songwriter & band leader I often need midi generated charts on the fly for guest performers in a recording setting. Seeing this approach used validates my efforts. While writing, I layout percussion, keys, and bass in midi with my guitars & vocals. There is also the visual artist in me that realizes albums are no longer cardboard printed sleeves with vinyl, they are cinematic immersions. Composers are now filmmakers and cinematographers. I watched Springsteen's "Western Stars", and Queen Bey's "Black is King" recently, what an amazing way to tell a story. I thank the presenter and the Guildhall school for getting me one step closer to being able to achieve such dreams on my own.
An immense amount of content, and no filler. To be on for two hours and get all of these points across, while also functioning as the recording engineer, is absolutely incredible. Many thanks.
So incredible. This was the best two hours I have spent on TH-cam ever. The amount of information presented is almost overwhelming. I will undoubtedly be rewatching sections from it for some time to come. Please continue to post this kind of content, it is so necessary. Bravo.
This is just the way education should be. Articulate, informative, engaging and most importantly simple to understand.I still keep coming back to refer to it. Well done to Professor Jono. Thankyou!
I never comment on videos but this video taught me more about Logic and scoring then any one of the TENS of THOUSANDS of videos I've watched since the Internet started. Absolutely brilliant in every way. Thank you!
I've had Logic X for about 9 years and collected many Logic "instructional" videos. Professor Buchanan in these days of super heroes you are a Super Educator, showing me breathtaking powers of Logic X related in a way that one can't easily discover. Your videos are In-depth, clear, concise, faultless demonstrations of Logic X matched by no other publication, free or paid for. Thank you for your hard work.
I only can say: This is an absolutely amazing walkthrough all phases of film composing, recording inclusive producing stems for the director. This master class is a must for everyone who wants to be involved into film music.
This was absolutely stunning. Seriously. What a wealth of information for absolutely free. Guildhall and Jono, thank you for putting this presentation out. As a starting, homegrown film composer without much actual academic training, this is the most valuable content I’ve come across yet.
An absolutely BRILLIANT display of mastery of Logic explained beautifully and clearly with no wasted time. This is indispensable for any film score composer. An EXCELLENT video! THANK YOU Guild Hall!
How awesome of him to upload this to youtube I'm not intending to do film scoring but I really love orchestral sounds in my edm music. So this really helps.
thanks so so much for making this recording publicly available! This is so enourmously valuable and worth more than any of those youtube videos and how to's. Mr Buchanan spoke with such insight that it was hard to switch off!! Thanks again!!!!
Last year when I tried to watch this masterclass for the first time, it was overwhelming because I was just getting started and there were too many information for me to process at that time. But now I find it very helpful to really understand the workflow, very detailed in such short time and so many tips on using the time efficiently and on how making the music more interesting. Totally worth it watching this from the start to the end. Thank you!
When I start to feel a little down about all the crap floating about on TH-cam and getting millions of views I turn my attention back to contributions like this and realize that it’s worth it sifting through all the chaff to find these kernels of gold. So thank you, thank you very much.
Brilliant video. I’ve been using Logic for 12 years now, and believe that when he mentioned that he’s only scratching the surface of logic, he means it. Thank you.
So incredible that I can watch this informative and really helpful content in TH-cam for free, There was no second in this video that was wasted, Thank you so much!
havent even watched yet but think its awesome that you share this online for everyone to watch for free...and a quick scroll through the comments: its great to see such positivity you should be proud of yourselves for inspiring people like this
GENIUS PRESENTATION.Thank you so very much. I have learnt so much more about logic pro x key commands tools and stock plugs to speed/enhance up my work flow and tighten up my productions.
Absolutely amazing. The very best video I’ve seen in a long time. Came here to learn more about using Logic, and learned so much more than I expected. Thank. You so much for providing this masterclass on TH-cam.
This is amazing! Thank you so much to all who were involved to produce this master class...and the professor Jone is great! Handle this kind of high complex classes and keep your focus all the time! WONDERFUL!
Absolutely brilliant! Spotting, composition, development, scoring, recording, editing and final stems all in one overview. Oh, and LPX workflow tips. Nice job fitting so much into a less than 2-hr class!
Awesome video! Jono didn't select the notes / articulations in the piano roll though so the short brass key switching didn't work (And I still learnt that from this video because I looked into it after thinking it didn't sound quite right)! Great stuff :-)
Let's hope the Avengers don't hear the Superhero bit! This is excellent work! lot's of useful information, as well as general Logic tips, etc. The logistics for this whole demonstration must have been a lot of work! Really good stuff. (Feel a bit sorry for the (unnamed) brass player who fluffed one note, especially as it was heard several times!)
Yes, especially since the camera was on him in a closeup shot right when he did it and you can see his reaction. I was surprised they didn’t take the time for a second take on this or even might have been a good time to demonstrate a punch in. ;)
I don’t have Logic (I’m on a PC), but this was still an amazing instruction for the film composer. I’ve just begun to really scratch the surface of it by just writing the music but this was great for the technical aspect of fitting it to the film and what a director might want. Thank you!!!
Thank you, Jono for sharing your workflow. I learned so much! 1:51:29 I felt that the step could be avoided because the recorded stems would already be available inside the Audio Folder. Moreover, I would always leave the Normalization "Off" because it would increase the noise floor Looking forward to watching more of your LogicX Masterclass videos.
Nice educational content! Since advanced students are watching, he made a mistake saying the editor makes the final decision on dialog coming up above instruments but that is up to the sound mixers. Everything else was great!!! The use of the electronic drummer was incredible.
I loved it. I ate it up. I waited to hear it with my satellite subwoofer playback system I use for mastering. This is such good information. So compact. So skillful. How wonderful to have the great auditorium with the acoustics and the musicians to come and perform with all the necessary microphones and A/D. A great product. An amazing product and amazing to watch this grow from the initial concepts to the finished product with no time wasted. Is professor Jono Buchanan available to serve as president of the United States?
I can't find fair words to put into a comment. All I can say is Thank you Jono and Guildhall for this incredible effort and awesomely made masterclass. It was incredibly awesome!
Absolutely brilliant! I was searching for that stemming solution using track stacks for so long....particularly printing aux tracks from stacks.... What a great class! Thank you so much!!!!!
This is a brilliant video I am not a Logic user but there was a large amount of useful information that I can use for writing and mixing in my Daw. The 2 hours flew by. Thank you.
Awesome!! This masterclass just gave me a ton of encouragement and information that I thought I'd never find for free on youtube! Amazing job, thank you isn't enough. God bless you!
Excellent master class! Quick thing for bouncing in place, there's an option to include the audio tail when bouncing, so you don't have to extend the midi track at all, it will do it for you

Great masterclass sir!
Its actually the 1st one that took so long and i watched it effortlessly without skip parts or stop it, thank you very much!
Thanks again Guildhall. This is outstanding masterclass series. Absolutely gorgeous. We need more of this.
Absolutely agree!! The best and most complete DAW masterclass. Love the way it goes all the way to orchestra and recording
What a clever and thoughtful use and demonstration of a wide variety of Logic features.
Thank you for this! I listened to this video while building cabinets, and was still very inspired and learned a lot. Thanks!
Best film score masterclass i've seen yet
What a MASTER Class... Loved it ! I'm going to save this.. I want to learn and this is super precious ! Thank You ! :)
Awesome video! Jono didn't select the notes / articulations in the piano roll though so the short brass key switching didn't work (And I still learnt that from this video because I looked into it after thinking it didn't sound quite right)! Great stuff :-)

Yes, especially since the camera was on him in a closeup shot right when he did it and you can see his reaction. I was surprised they didn’t take the time for a second take on this or even might have been a good time to demonstrate a punch in. ;)
Bravo! Thank you for this extremely informative content! What a masterclass indeed.
Absolutely amazing example of what a masterclass should be
Outstanding. Thank You for showing your process.
The best and most useful masterclass I've come across on Logic Pro X !!
This is incredibly exquisite !! MORE MORE MORE please.
Wow. This was incredible instruction.Thank you for making this available.
Professor Jono Buchanan is going to become my new HERO!! Thank you very much for sharing this masterclass!!
So clear, concise, and informative! Thank you so much for sharing this class for free.
Absolutely awesome masterclass!! Enjoyed every second of it. Thank you very much!!
He absolutely hit it out of the ballpark... Then "oh, there is just one more thing", here is a whole live musician session...
I was incomplete before but once I started learning from Guilhall m satisfied.
I don’t have Logic (I’m on a PC), but this was still an amazing instruction for the film composer. I’ve just begun to really scratch the surface of it by just writing the music but this was great for the technical aspect of fitting it to the film and what a director might want. Thank you!!!
Thank you very much for uploading this for free, it's a great resource.
TH-cam really is brilliant. Thanks Prof Jono and Guildhall!
Man, I dont have to pay a buck for watching yearly experience of experts. Thx you.
Thank you, Jono for sharing your workflow. I learned so much! 1:51:29 I felt that the step could be avoided because the recorded stems would already be available inside the Audio Folder. Moreover, I would always leave the Normalization "Off" because it would increase the noise floor
Looking forward to watching more of your LogicX Masterclass videos.
cant believe i saw this for free, love from argentina!!
Absolute precision and professionalism to the highest order! What an incredible masterclass! Thank you!
This gets me so excited! I want another Mac and I want it now!!!! Bloody things die on you you know!
Nice educational content! Since advanced students are watching, he made a mistake saying the editor makes the final decision on dialog coming up above instruments but that is up to the sound mixers. Everything else was great!!! The use of the electronic drummer was incredible.
