- I thought we'd make an attempt to show something a bit different in this upload. Open tuning is not something you see folks do everyday, so thought a light dive into it might just do the trick for some of you.

Hello Randy, thank you, Sir, for this video. I hope some guitar players will be inspired to play open tuning as well. After playing it on a friend's guitar I never looked back.
Mr Paul, you were one that I had in mind when I mentioned those on the channel that took constant advantage of these open tunings. You’re certainly the master of it and admittedly it’s just beautiful. Thanks for the great advice to everyone and the constant kindness 👍🏻
@@randysrhythm wow this is really awesome work well done and cool video my frend great job
Great tutorial, Randy! Thank you for sharing. Greetings from Elly 🎸🎸🎸
Thank you, Ms Elly. Great hearing from you, ma’am 👍🏻
Another gem of a video Randy! Open D minor is also nice, but worlds apart with only one small adjustment. F# becomes F on the 3rd string. God Bless.
Thanks my friend. I’ll give that tuning a shot. God bless you too, brother man 👍🏻
Thanks for the fine music
Thank you, brother man Dan 👍🏻
Oh heck yeah!!!! Real fine lesson @Randy's Rhythm. Thank you. Respect.
Glad you enjoyed it, David. Always appreciate your kind support, brother man 👍🏻
Sounding great as always. I really enjoy your playing. I truly appreciate you sharing your experience and knowledge.
Hi Steve, great to hear from you and I really appreciate your kind words, always, brother man 👍🏻
What a lovely entrance with the little snippet you played before the tutorial began. I could listen to you playing like this for a whole day !!! That was wonderful!!! Same as your explanation in the video as well!
Hi Ms Julie, great to see your smiling face, ma’am. Much appreciated and you’re always so kind 👍🏻
I’m just getting caught up here, Brother Randy.
What a great lesson, and I love that melody you’re working on
And, finally, that guitar is incredible!!
Well, thank you, brother man Paul 👍🏻
Good show Randy!
Thank you, brother man James 👍🏻
Man that tune is really beautiful.
Thank you, brother man 👍🏻
Love this tuning, Randy!!! Nice job, my friend!🎸
Appreciate you, brother man 👍🏻
Hey Randy, good to hear you again.
I have the video paused, ill come back at the end but i didn't want to forget. When you said open tuning can save strain on the fret hand , a light bulb 💡 turned on in my head. Work definitely is taking its toll on my hands and seemed like I just wouldn't be able to do it eventually. Now im thinking, just maybe not in standard all the time.
I like the advice on just noodling on your own in the open tuning. I've only tried open g so far. I realize that I learned just parts of songs in that tuning to learn where the chords are before wandering off on my own but you showed a few chords in this that just shorten that journey up. Maybe next time I can save myself some trouble And just look up where the cords are in the open tuning. I might come up with something more creative than just pulling from the past. Great advice Randy! Hope all is well brother!
Brother man Al, really good to hear from you, my friend. I’m pleased to hear that this helps. It seems this is so much easier, especially when you’re just noodling around. Mr Paul Welton told me that he always plays in open tunings. I think he’s on to something. Thanks for swinging by and commenting, brother man 👍🏻
Wow! Love it! That tune you did at the beginning of this was wonderful! That is a beautiful guitar too! Nicely done Sir Randy!
Thank you, Ms Rose 👍🏻
Definitely on of my fav tuning open D, great video man
Thank you, sir 👍🏻
That’s a cool share ❤ love the sound
Thank you, Layila. Great hearing from you and hope all is well, ma’am 👍🏻
Wonderful look at open D tuning, which is a particular favourite of mine alongside DADGAD and open D minor, great talk and demo Randy very well done, I hope that all is well with you 👏👏👏👏
Brother man Trevor, great to hear from you, my friend. It is most assuredly a beautiful open tuning. While I’ve never played around with the other two alternates of D, you’ve motivated me to doing so. I’ve heard others do it, including your good self I think, but I’ve yet to work with those. Great to see your smiling face and hope the gigging is keeping you occupied. Any TV spots coming up?
@randysrhythm No TV spots at the moment just local bars and venues but that's OK too, great to hear from you Randy, keep on picking 👍
Sounding really beautiful Randy.
I played my arrangement of Scarborough Fair on the Excellente tonight in drop D and capped on the fifth fret with a beautiful singer. The noisy pub fell silent, it was wonderful. The combination of her voice and the sweet tone (which almost sounded like a 12 string at times) of the Excellente was mesmerising. Playing with her tomorrow with the guitar stereo miked and panned left and right. Really looking forward to it.
"Randy" is living up to her name, my friend.
Everyone who see's, hears and plays my Excellente absolutely love her.
Hi Andy, did you happen to record you guys that night? I’d love to hear it. I intended to mention drop D, but forgot to. Pleased to hear you’re enjoying the Excellente, brother man 👍🏻
@randysrhythm Hi Randy, Unfortunately l don't think so but l'll be working with her again on Sunday so l'll try and organise a recording.
Cheers Randy.
Hi Randy. I've uploaded a video of my playing Scarborough Fair onto my channel.
@andysfishingandflytyingcha2310 That was a great upload, brother man!!
❤Thanks so much Randy. "Randy" sounded sweet didn't she? @@randysrhythm
Hello Randy you sure make your guitar sound pretty I have never done open tuning before many thanks my friend I shall try!♥
Well thank you, Ms Kathy and glad I could provide a bit of encouragement, ma’am 👍🏻
This was super great info Randy. I haven't done any open tuning but i would love to give it a try. It would be great for songwriting which i have doing a bit of lately. Thanks for the video!!
Thank you, Ms J-Lyn. I was actually hoping you’d see this video, because I thought you’d adapt very well to this tuning. You have a great style that might even shine utilizing it. Always appreciate you, ma’am 👍🏻
Great video sir. I've used C standard tuning a lot, but not much in open tuning. I've even dabbled a bit in drop D too.
When I put my 65 Texan away, I usually tune down to C standard, to keep all that tension out of the neck that would be there in standard E tuning. Open D sounds great. I may have to play around with it more.
Hi David, not a shabby idea at all, tuning down for storage. All of these open tunings allow for some great arrangements that may prove more difficult in standard tuning. Always appreciate you, brother man 👍🏻

I also love the bassey sound you get when you tune down to C standard. It's basically what The baritone guitars are tuned at. That's another guitar I would like to try out, a quality baritone guitar.
@HayesTech Never played one, but seen a few. They look like a bit of fun 👍🏻
Hi Randy, just found your channel and really enjoy and appreciate your guitar perspective. I’m about your age and play every day. I’ve never done open D tuning, just drop D and boy it does sound great. I’m looking for a 000 guitar and my standards as you put it are very high. Do you think if I contacted them, he could give me a price? Do you have a contact #. You play very nice tunes, so please keep doing the videos. Thanks Randy
Thank you Rob! Appreciate the kind words. I think he would. Would you mind emailing me with this question? My email is: asmallstone1977@gmail.com
