I just showed this to my 91 year old grandfather, he loved it! He grew up in the 20s and 30s reading about First World War fighter aces and would watch the occasional barnstormer come by a local air field near his house. He built model planes and kites as a hobby. He wanted to join the US Air Corps in the Second World War but was colorblind so he ended up in the infantry. He still ended up taking flying lessons after the war and built RC planes with his son later on. This video is amazing and he really enjoyed it! Bravo!
I clicked on this video because of the Fokker DR.1, and was amazed by it's size, and by the skill displayed by its pilot. I was equally amazed by the absolutely picturesque landscape that this flying field is located in! Absolutely gorgeous!
Beautiful aircraft and great flying skills. Dude hung it on the prop a couple of times, sideways down the runway and stalled in a giant u-turn. Got faith in that motor, that's for sure. Very nice to watch.
Nothing against the pilot at all but; the size of the wings and tail rudder effect the amount of turn you can inflict on the plane. It flys so slow that the wing surfaces just push the plane around. Very beautiful to watch.
Ich hab in 25 Jahren Flugmodellbau schon viele schöne Modelle gesehen aber die DRI übertrifft sie alle! Mehr als erstklassig gebaut und ebenso vorgeflogen! Macht Spaß zuzusehen! 5*****
I'd always heard the Red Baron was capable of keeping his guns trained on opposing planes for a really, really long time. Gernot's flying talent gives an excellent visual as to how it could have looked. Wow! What a demonstration!
No doubt a very skilled pilot...! And a beautiful tri wing giant.. I have seen so many German videos of bi planes, triplanes, and countless others, but this beauty takes the cake...! I wish this pilot lots more luck in future flights, and hopefully many more giants for us to see...! I should not have said luck because this is not luck flying these beautiful behemoths, but pure pilot skill..! Which in this video you will undoubtedly see for your self...!
Wow what a pilot. If the engine in the real aircraft was as powerful is it any wonder that the Red Baron was such an ace. A real privelage to see such a wonderful model and flying, thanks for posting.
It's great to see a model aircraft that actually appears to be flying to scale and does not behave as though it has a thousand horsepower engine nailed to its nose. Well done and may it fly for many years.
WOW that's an incredible model and even more incredible pilot! Gotta admit those are the most extraordinary extremely low level aerobatics I think I've ever seen. Again, WOW!
I AGREE with Michael Donavon and I'm at 66! and I will add that is one GREAT LOOKING PLANE my friend!.......keep up the great work and thanks for sharing the video!
Thats a very awesome red plane sir , brings back memories from my grandfather Charles chuck Pierce, in the garage it looked like a red Porsche or Ferrari as i was proud to see it 👨🍳 he had a hand for planes ,kinda a hobby that he had ! God bless us all ,amen
That is the finest scale model I have ever seen... flys at scale speed too.... doesn't get much better than that... there are faster and larger, but that is about as good as giant scale gets....
I would say it a beautiful presentation, that teaches me ,that i would be sweating and praying that all goes good , i haven't started yet , i know ill be professional, but im sure with my 41 years ther is going to be some awesome beginning videos to share, thank you for your service, amen
I watch it and I think it's a great show, then I realize this: he is just getting warmed up... the show just gets better and better, and finishes with a perfect landing, surrounded by a beautiful countryside setting. Super Spaß, Danke schön for posting this!! :-)
WOW ! - that is amazing ! - Thankyou for sharing - I would not trust anyone to fly this beautiful model - Even myself ? - you had me on the edge of seat !!! - Well done
this comment is very valid it's all about the engine noise to a real model flyer there was no need to talk throughout the display he could of kept quiet for a couple of minutes as with all commentary people and radio presenters they love the sound of their own voice!! it's very easy to cure this your the display pilots your the stars of the show you can call the shot's if they don't shut up then don't attend remember you guy's are ultimately in control!
Saw the mono coat came off on the bottom. A plane that big could almost stand to have actual stitts fabric and be stitched to the longerons. Very nice flying!
WOW what a monster, It must have taken a long time to build and I doubt it came in a kit form, Brilliant pilot too, You must build a Sopwith, then what a pair to be flown together,, Well Done.
That's just fun. Ernst Udet may have explored knife edge flight with his Fieseler and some Tigermoth pilots did the same when snatching objects off the ground with a wingtip. Essentially a big side slip with the wings banked. Light wing loading and lots of drag make for relaxing flight. I've gotten stuck flying under-cambered wings when inverted in that there's not enough elevator to make positive flight and not enough aileron to roll out. The full sized tripe would be very hard pressed to emulate some of these maneuvers with the rotating engine.
Love it, thank you for your dedication. The flying skills of the pilot are just as impressive as the Aerocraft, nice combination. Beautiful engine, thank goodness somebody is building radial engines, sweet. Thanks again mate.
Without a doubt, the best RC flying that I've EVER seen, and at 76, I've seen a lot!! :) Superb piloting skills - just superb. And what a beautiful airplane! The finish looks like glass - all in all, I must say that this RC model and its pilot's skills, are the best I've ever seen. Thanks. N-6395T

Beautiful plane and an incredible flying demonstration by the pilot!
Beautiful aircraft and great flying skills. Dude hung it on the prop a couple of times, sideways down the runway and stalled in a giant u-turn. Got faith in that motor, that's for sure. Very nice to watch.
Everything about this is world class. The pilot, the plane. The setting. Thank you for sharing.
Your welcome Dave! ;)
Great flight. Manfred von Richthofen would be proud.
my great grandpa shot him down m8
That side slipping at 3:00 is very telling. I've heard about it but it really looks extraordinary.
Beautiful plane with a talented pilot!
tom7601 Manfred von Richthofen, br0
This redefines RC flying. Supurb! A Nobel Prize for the designer/pilot.
The DR-1 caught my eye as a child, I still love it. This one is the best so far.
Unbelievable!!! At 2:58 I realized this guy may know what he's doing. Nothing short of amazing talent and confidence! Thank you.
The skill required to fly a plane of that size, that low to the ground, with such maneuvers, is simply mind boggling!~
"Mind boggling"? Really? I'm new to rc, but I can do it.
Nothing against the pilot at all but; the size of the wings and tail rudder effect the amount of turn you can inflict on the plane. It flys so slow that the wing surfaces just push the plane around. Very beautiful to watch.
Quite simply, the BEST TH-cam video EVER!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed! :)
What an amazing plane! I can't even begin to imagine the time and money that went into building it!
That slow speed makes flying soooooo easy, I wish my 800mm would fly so slow and so easily. A great demo.
the plane flys pretty fast but it seems so slow because its so big ;)
I don't know which is better, the beautiful plane or the scenery it flying in. Beautiful country!
I'd always heard the Red Baron was capable of keeping his guns trained on opposing planes for a really, really long time. Gernot's flying talent gives an excellent visual as to how it could have looked. Wow! What a demonstration!

Wow!!!!! There are people who make rc of madness!! Brilliant!!
sator rotas Yes absolutely! Thats awesome!
*What a handsome little FOKKER!* It looks FULL SIZE flying around.Never seen one this big.
Yes, this plane is just giant!
.. unbeliveable .. nice aeroplane, great pilot, everything on the minimal flying height, super ... I have to write it here ..
+Ivo Brabec Thanks for watching and commenting!
Gernot Bruckmann is a god! The Red Baron is proud where ever he may be...
Outstanding model, and an outstanding pilot!

Absolutely GORGEOUS aircraft there...!!! :)

Hard to believe that is a model.!!! Excellent pilot!!!!
WoW! Herr Bruckmann is an incredibly good pilot!!!!!!!!!
WOW that's an incredible model and even more incredible pilot! Gotta admit those are the most extraordinary extremely low level aerobatics I think I've ever seen. Again, WOW!
Aerobatics old school. Great flight, cool aircraft.
That was truly the absolute best tri flight i have ever seen! ! just awesome!
Thank you!
At the end, with the one wheel touch-n-go, now you're just showing off!! Awesome.
my grandson and I thoroughly enjoyed this
Der Baron hat sich damals bestimmt solche Kraftreserven gewünscht. ;-) Tolles Modell, tolles Video!
+vass ilika Ja das hat er sich bestimmt! ;) Danke! :)
I AGREE with Michael Donavon and I'm at 66! and I will add that is one GREAT LOOKING PLANE my friend!.......keep up the great work and thanks for sharing the video!
Thanks buddy, glad you enjoyed my video! :)
Hell ... Increase the size about 50% and you could get in it... Beautiful work....Masterful flying!

Thanks for watching and commenting! Glad you enjoyed my video!
amazing....must be 1/3 scale, great piloting and aerobatics....great video, big thumbs up!!!
MANOS RC yes something like that, maybe a bit smaller! Yes the pilot was awesome! ;)
RcToThe FREAK Looks like 2/3 or 66% of real aircraft.
ot1k Yeah the full scale is only a 24 ft. wing span on top wing. This looks to be more than 12 ft.
james price its 1/1.5 scale and the wingspan is 4,2m so about 14 ft
MANOS RC
No thats an ARF plane from Bill Hempel.
The DR1 have 4,80m Wingspan and a 800ccm Valach radial engine.
Bad Ass flying skills!! You had me on the edge of my seat a few times!
good to hear my friend!
He makes it look effortless. What a beautiful plane and awesome set of skills.
I would say it a beautiful presentation, that teaches me ,that i would be sweating and praying that all goes good , i haven't started yet , i know ill be professional, but im sure with my 41 years ther is going to be some awesome beginning videos to share, thank you for your service, amen
Unbelivable plane, unbelievably good pilot.
I watch it and I think it's a great show, then I realize this: he is just getting warmed up... the show just gets better and better, and finishes with a perfect landing, surrounded by a beautiful countryside setting. Super Spaß, Danke schön for posting this!! :-)
Very nice aircraft and a great display. I think the model flies a little better than the original DR1 would have, but it is lovely to watch.
One of the best pilots I've ever seen and a great plane !!! Congratulations!
Very good video!
MAJESTIC! No wonder the Red Barron had so many kills - that thing could out maneuver a humming bird.
Agree !!! " what an excellent video...that pilot has amazing skills...awesome Aircraft "
Beautiful scenery of the mountains brings heightens the romanticism of flying by the seat of your pants multi wing flying.
Brilliant, what fantastic flying.
Beautiful plane and a very skilled pilot!
Great piloting skills and confidence.
its a dummy pilot
+jonathan andrew Your the dummy pilot ' could u fly this thing of art without crashing ???
I tought he meant the pilot in the plane not the rc pilot
James Rodgers
Congratulation
Mr. Richthofen would be proud to see such a beautiful ride.
That is awesome, what a great show it put on.I kept waiting for Snoopy on his Sopwith Camel doghouse to come flying into the picture.
Einfach Fantastisch wie Gernot diese "Kiste" fliegt
An incredible amount of lift allows this fine RC aircraft to just wallow through the air. Very cool.
WOW ! - that is amazing ! - Thankyou for sharing - I would not trust anyone to fly this beautiful model - Even myself ? - you had me on the edge of seat !!! - Well done
thanks alot my friend!:)
Amazing flying and beautiful plane

This is the best RC flight I have seen to date. Absolutley terrific flight !!
That is some daring flying that low to the ground with such a giant scale masterpiece!! very nice performance indeed!
That is a beautiful model and very well flown as well.
WOW what a monster, It must have taken a long time to build and I doubt it came in a kit form, Brilliant pilot too, You must build a Sopwith, then what a pair to be flown together,, Well Done.

Fantastic. The BEST I've seen. Thanks for sharing.
+cecil williams Thanks buddy!
Great pilot & Plane !
What an amazing toy! I love the way the triplanes can maneuver. Could you put a small child in that?
+caveatemp For sure!
Great flying, excellent vid, thanks
thanks, you welcome ;)

WOW! Great plane, Great Flying, and Great video. It all came together is this, a feat rarely done! Congratulations!
That building right on the edge of the runway, man oh man it makes me nervous.
but definitely an excellent flying.
i agree! ;)
I'm certain Richtofen never flew like that ! - Brilliant flying never-the-less!
haha, would be cool to watch him flying like that! :D
And folks this is how it's done. He is an outstanding builder and flyer.
Great flying skills. You could almost fit a person in that thing...
Most definitely one of the biggest RC plane I have ever seen!! Beautiful "Red Baron!" :-)
Amazing model, fantastic flying.
Great RC flight performance, compliments!
He is very good. He knows very well the characteristics of his model.
The little barn on the Runway, this is crazy!!
Its pretty far away so not a big problem for the plane and pilot!
Awesome. Awesome country there too.
thanks buddy!
Without a doubt, the best RC flying that I've EVER seen, and at 76, I've seen a lot!! :)
Superb piloting skills - just superb.
And what a beautiful airplane! The finish looks like glass - all in all, I must say that this RC model and its pilot's skills, are the best I've ever seen. Thanks. N-6395T
Thank you for watching and commenting! The pilot/builder would be proud of him to read such an amazimg comment!! :)
That's practically a real one! :D
