    thanks for the video :) I just picked up an MPC One and am looking into this synth specifically to have instead of my opsix (just because of ease of transportation), and it's good to have the background!

    This looks okay. In the realm of DAW plug-ins, I think it is more like a 40 dollar plug-in. I suppose it is worth a little more to be able to use it in a MPC. I would pay 50-70 bucks for it. The FM synth market, plug-in and hardware, is dense with options.

    Super late on this. I've actually been digging into using my very recently acquired MPC One Plus for IDM/breakcore/glitch and other generql weirdness and sound design. It is definitely harder to find videos on these sorts of processes on the MPC, but I'm enjoying seeing what I can figure out as I've been exploring. It's actually surprisingly capable. I'm definitely gonna get this OPX-4 soon.

    • @Alckemy
      @Alckemy  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Glitch stuff is super accessible with the mpc if you have the patience- there’s the time flex thing and then abusing a delay on whatever while recording will get you lots of experimental sounds. Neuro stuff on the other hand is way more trouble than it’s worth- just because of how many steps you go through only to be bogged down by menu flipping and setups.
      I’d recommend you design on the computer and compose on the box if possible, but that’s just my experience

    • @remyvegamedia
      @remyvegamedia 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ Yeah man a big part of my approach with "IDM"/glitch on Ableton is basically just wonking and resampling sounds and chopping those in Simpler or Drum Rack, so it translates really well into the MPC ecosystem, actually. Yeah, you're right, I couldn't imagine doing a LOT of what I've seen you do here on an MPC haha.

      @@Alckemy awesome! im not new to fm but dipping my feet in the water with what the mpc can do with it in standalone.
      the only question is do u know if the plugin is actually FM or is it PM like most FM synths?
      I like that u outlined the limitations of the fm synth so that im aware of it at the same time making it super clear that this still is a hell of a fm plugin which it is and there are just work arounds that have to be done in the state that the plugin is in.
      Its still a hell of a step forward in the mpc eco system....Its definitely a useable fm synth that can be improved on in the future.
      for users who sound design or like to sound design and use the mpc in standalone mode specifically the $149 to me isnt really much of an issue because it simply allows something possible thats just not possible to the extent the fm synth allows....in controller mode i could see how the price is steep in comparison to other vst plugin options.
      But looking for all tips tricks and observations you got to be and stay informed with being as productive as possible with the fm synth.

      @Alckemy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@meanguitar I think it depends on the person. This is the second time I’ve purchased an mpc live and when I first had it I was not ready for it. I didn’t have the right perspective to figure out how to use it in a means that complimented my workflow rather than feeling like I had to pick one or the other. This time around things clicked and they all kind of stem around the same idea of how I make a track, which is by resampling loops. So by using hardware to make my own I feel like I have the freedom to produce at any given quality and know how to turn it into something bigger and fully realized.
      And with that it doesn’t matter where you source your loops, whether it be sample packs or hardware or making your own loops in the daw from scratch.
      In some cases, I’m looking at sound design in the same light now which is why I’m excited to try sound design via hardware, and for me, the op4 while not perfect is a really cool jump off point. I have to use my ears very critically to try to aim for the same quality as I would in a daw.
