The reason you haven't heard of Megamind is that it was quickly overshadowed by "Despicable Me," which went on to be the better-known film. They were released pretty close to each other, and ofc the _other_ minions (and let's face it, the youngest little girl) took the world by storm. i believe that if Megamind had been released at another time, it would have done a lot better, because I haven't seen anyone yet who doesn't like the movie and doesn't get most of the in-jokes (like Space Dad being a direct copy of Jor-El as played by Brando, but talking with the voice Brando used in The Godfather). 19:18 -- no, not exactly projecting. Many people point out that "squandering his abilities for personal gain" is exactly what Megamind himself does; except, in the first place, that's his _role:_ Megamind is the villain, he does bad things. Hal was supposed to be the *hero.* HE's not supposed to do the bad stuff. And in the second place, Megamind _isn't_ actually doing any of the things he does for his own personal gain. He's doing it because it is what is expected of him, and for love of the "game" -- the back-and-forth chase of fighting MetroMan-- not because he particularly wants the money and art and stuff, or gets any real satisfaction out of having it. The POINT is: Megamind has handed Hal an opportunity beyond anything he can even so much as dream of being worthy to aspire to himself-- the chance to be the Hero. And Hal tosses it away like worthless garbage.
Of the two supervillain themed movies that were released at that time, Despicable Me is the one who got sequels. That tells us all that we are following the dumb timeline of the universe.
I like to think while the scene with Metroman looking at his costume was meant to fake you out and think it was him coming back afterward, what it really did mean is that IF Megamind had failed somehow, he was 100% about to step in. Like he said at the end though, he knew he had it in him. So Metroman just wasn't going to interfere until there was literally no other choice, but he was ready to.
An awesome detail alot of people dont bring is Roxanne's dress it starts in red to show her atraction to metro man, then in the middle turns to purple on her confliction/ devolping ataction to megamind then finally goes blue by the end to show her feelings towards him.....im so glad this kovie finally got the love it deserved and never had a sequel made ever
When Megamind is talking to Titan, he isn't projecting, well, not in the implied way. His core personality and upbringing beat into the very fabric of his being, that his gifts were bad, evil, and needed to be punished, whilst Metroman's gifts were admiral to the public. He is upset because Hal has the "admirable' power, and is squandering it; Megamind isn't squandering his power, because at its very core, it is "evil"

Didn't realize this was the ending, because the ending I remember has Titan coming back and figuring out it's Megamind and not Metroman and they have another fight sequence where they go back to the starting scene of Megamind falling through the sky with the gun in his hand.
As much as I despise Metro Man for what he was, I'll give him this much, when he got tired of saving the day for eternity, he didn't become the villain like so many others.
Altaf, man, so glad to see you succeeding on here. Those days recording Checkerboard Chat and riding down to Atlanta 3-wide in that crappy truck have made you into a force of nature. Wishing you nothing but good luck in all you do!
_Megamind_ is like _Highlander:_ There Can Be Only One. And there definitely isn't a sequel that utterly ruins the original retroactively and actively contradicts the entire Lore of the original. Nope. Very definitely. Doesn't exist. But seriously, I saw the trailer to Megamind 2 and was like, "Is this some subpar script for a _Despicable Me_ sequel they threw out? Because it doesn't even make sense in context of the Megamind movie!! It's the Despicable Me universe where tons of eccentric villains have been running around for deaces, forming entire villain societies. Whereas in the Megamind universe, there have always been only Megamind and Metro-Man, and both are space aliens. Megamind _never had_ a "team" of other supervillains... THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT that he was always alone and the only one he had was Minion! So M2 trying to invent "Megamind's old gang" of villains out of thin air -- who are absolutely cringeworthy on top of that, I mean, one of them looks exactly like that "French mime" joke villains from the start of _The Incredibles!_ -- actively contradicts the entire first movie!! And the predictable plot "Oh no, these other villains somehow didn't notice that Megamind is the hero of MetroCity now, even though it was on TV, and now for some reason Megamind has to pretend he is still a villain and then fight all three of them" is literally the plot of _Despicable Me 2!_ Come on.
There is a really cool visual thing where at the beginning of the movie Roxanne is wearing red, which is Metro man's primary color. Then, as the movie progresses and she starts falling for Megamind, she starts wearing purple, which is a combination of red and blue, and by the end of the movie she's entirely wearing blue.
I've got a movie for you to react to: Bunraku. If you like your stylized anti-heroes, definitely check that one out. Also, Megamind is one of my favorite movies.
i love all the words MegaMind pronounces incorrectly... i still say Ollo tbh also one of my favorite memes of this movie (cause theres a TON) is that Music Man looks HUGELY like an animated Markiplierand
Just watched an older video of yours and it lead me to the conclusion you have never seen Snatch. If this is the case, please watch Snatch; it will be great.
The music budget for this film must've been massive, all the ultra famous artists - Elvis AC/DC Guns and Roses Michael Jackson George Thorogood Ozzy Osbourne E.L.O
One thing I learned is that, in the very begining Roxanne is wearing red (being on Metro Mans side), in the middle of the movie she is wearing purple (being somewhere in between what it use to be, not knowing where she stands) and at the end she is wearing all blue (for Megamind) :)
Ben Stiller was originally approached to voice Megamind, but his schedule at the time wouldn't allow it, so he came in for a few hours to voice Bernard, which is funny since Megamind assumes the role of that character too. I love Minion so much, so mcfreakin' cute. Makes me hate the Despicable Me franchise even more for making those yellow turds what people think of when they hear that word. (I like the first DM movie, but the rest bugs me to no end)
Other nods to the superhero genre in this movie are Titan's real name is Hal Stewart: the two Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart, JK Simmons being in a Spider Man and Megamind/Minion getting stabbed by a huge building is from when Flash Gordon defeated Ming the Merciless.

I know! They could've easily made him an asshole and it's awesome that he's just a retired guy rooting for Megamind at the end
Glad to see you two had so much fun with this one. In my opinion there are some great animation movies out there that do not get that much attention on reaction channels. My recommendation would be Monsters vs. Aliens.
I absolutely love this movie and I’m so glad you reacted to it!
I can't believe you guys made a reaction to Megamind! I'm glad you guys uploaded it! And speaking of BetterHelp, I got a Daniel Trasher ad right after a few moments of your BetterHelp sponsor bit.
You: 90% of the budget went to getting brad pitt
Me: No, 90% of the budget went to getting the awesome soundtrack
I am always happy seeing first time reactions to this glorious movie. Thank you, from the bottom of me he art.
Didn't realize this was the ending, because the ending I remember has Titan coming back and figuring out it's Megamind and not Metroman and they have another fight sequence where they go back to the starting scene of Megamind falling through the sky with the gun in his hand.
That's the theatrical cut I remember, too.
That's the version I have. Very weird. I was boggled thinking they cut the ending for some reason!
You’re right! However, due to copyright reasons we had to cut some stuff out. Those TH-cam gods can be annoying 😅
Oh my god! Trenton! Thank you so much!
Also, Megamind is one of my favorite movies.
i love all the words MegaMind pronounces incorrectly... i still say Ollo tbh
also one of my favorite memes of this movie (cause theres a TON) is that Music Man looks HUGELY like an animated Markiplierand
Love this movie! So glad you guys enjoyed it
You have to go past the credits! There's a stinger with Minion and .... someone you forgot
Just watched an older video of yours and it lead me to the conclusion you have never seen Snatch. If this is the case, please watch Snatch; it will be great.
The music budget for this film must've been massive, all the ultra famous artists -
Elvis
AC/DC
Guns and Roses
Michael Jackson
George Thorogood
Ozzy Osbourne
E.L.O
Not to mention Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe composing.
I loved Markiplier in this film, really Jumpstart his career
Even metroman is seen snacking twice in the movie. Like Brad Pitt
Always loved when they're in Hal's apartment. Minion instantly replaces the door Haha
Minion is officially the third Nice Dude
LOVE this movie! Completely Slept on by too many!
One thing I learned is that, in the very begining Roxanne is wearing red (being on Metro Mans side),
in the middle of the movie she is wearing purple (being somewhere in between what it use to be, not knowing where she stands) and at the end she is wearing all blue (for Megamind) :)
Love this movie 😂 I saw it later in life, which I think why I appreciate it so much. And wow, what a cast!
this movie's great. it's a shame they never made a sequel.
Fun Fact:The real father form MegaMind took was a parody of Marlon Brando's Jor-El
The scene compositions in this are so overlooked.
When I answer the phone, I always say "Holo!" Because of this movie!!
I saw Megamind in theaters. Great film.
If you wanna watch an animated movie that will get you in the feels is the 86 animated Transformers movie
You should watch Meg next. I did not watch it for the longest time because it was stupid and it was, but in a good way. You will enjoy it.
You might want to look into better help, a bit better. there is a lot of controversy about them. So just a heads up, you might loose some viewers.
found your channel some time ago. i m gonna watch all videos. you guys are so funny :-)
Thank You! ❤️
6;59 if you pay attention you will see Metroman flickering and appearing behind Megamind.
Never seen this movie but it looks fun. I'm always into a film that deals with nurture over nature
Oh hey Markiplier 21:29
26:38 - His face! Hahahaha
Great choice. I missed it and always wondered what it had been as a movie. It was better with your commentary.
Have you ever seen Momento? I believe it would be a great movie for you to see. Very original story and very well shot.
This movie does a great job at tackling the difference between a toxic "nice guy" and a good man. Jonah Hill was so great and creepy as an nice guy.
A surprising animated movie I recommend is Tin-Tin. Came out in 2011? Very, very good.
Cutting out the finale of Megamind vs Titan is criminal
My all time favorite movie 😆😆
New here, but guy on the right gives me major David Cross vibes (his face). It's funny how this movie has blown up over the last so many years because it is actually really good, has a cool concept and was overshadowed by Despicable Me I think it was?
That makes me laugh that you guy wasn't talking about the memes.
This movie is considered to be the goldmine.
OH! DID not see this coming!
This movie in 3d is absolutely spectacular.
