    Happy Friday everyone! With specs that rivals other PHEV luxury SUV's like the BMW X5 PHEV, do you feel Jeep has what it takes to compete with some of the best European luxury SUV's?

      Yes it absolutely does. Because this is one of the best luxury PHEVs on sale
      The interior is out of this world. So is the tech. Even if it’s expensive it’s worth it

      I like mine with rebates and affiliate it was 11k off sticker. Try getting anything at a discount. It has great tech and one of the the nicest interior of any car in it's class. The one thing that I hate is the 4 banger its not very pleasant to listen to. But at least it's a turbo.

  • @DevThDude
    @DevThDude 2 ปีที่แล้ว +61

    I feel like this new jeep would be worth it if they took like 8 or 10k off the prices. They have made the interior nicer and the exterior looks great. The 4xe starting at 60k is absurd. The price is too high and the jumps between trims is too big for not as much differentiation. Especially with that old 2.0L. I wanted to replace my 14 Overland, but it's like a 20k+ premium to get the same trim and the EV range is eh.

    • @twatchko01
      @twatchko01 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      totally agree. the fact that this car (in Summit Reserve config) is going to be in the upper 80's with the overland trim is ridiculous. Just saw that a new loaded sequoia is 99k. suv's have become completely unaffordable. used to be you could get a lot of car for 55-60k. now its 80-100k which most people can't (and should buy) afford.

    • @JayZJay7
      @JayZJay7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Leave those cars on the lot. It’s utterly ridiculous that these SUVs are this expensive. Also these are cars that don’t have the reputation of being long lasting. 🤦🏾‍♂️

      @@JayZJay7 Trust me, they have vehicles for every buyer. They have very nice equipped Jeeps that aren’t this price.

    • @michaeljordan3282
      @michaeljordan3282 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Devin Young, you and I are saying the same thing, definitely $8 or $10k off the price tag for this trim to make it worthwhile. The prices are too close to Range Rover Sport price point, and personally I'd go Range Rover. I foresee Stellanis offering a lot of discounts and rebates to move these Jeep GCs that are Overland trim and up, I think the Overland 4xe should be $60k max!
      @Jamaul Joseph, Exactly! Let the dealership keep them things, I had 2 Jeep GCs, one was a complete lemon and had a complete failure @ under 7k miles, the second one was great, I liked it a lot, however like you said, not a great reputation for this price point.

    • @Michael-li3id
      @Michael-li3id ปีที่แล้ว

      the problem with the current administration is that they made the 7500 tax credit basically exclusive for Jeeps and Teslas. RV also remain stupidly high.
      Other companies prices will drop but Jeeps will not.

    Soooo, this is a hybrid that gets 23 ish mpg……same as v6 ? The electric part gives you 26 miles until it’s charged again, correct ? Doesn’t make sense to me. Am I wrong? You get 50 mpg e one time, until it’s charged again…….otherwise you are getting 23 mpg ?

    • @paulira7407
      @paulira7407 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No, you’re not wrong. I would just get the V6 instead and not have to worry about the battery component (assuming you plan to own the vehicle for 8+ years). As a 2021 Rav4 Prime owner, 42+ miles of EV range & 40+ in hybrid mode with a combined 94 MPGe looks excellent compared to this Jeep model.

    • @s9779
      @s9779 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I lease my summit 4xe I get close to 28mpg on the highway on just gas. The v6 get crap city milage and is slow. With the tax credit it's not much more expensive to get the 4xe.

    • @kjburns75
      @kjburns75 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For some perspective, I just bought one. I charge it at home overnight. The computer shows the total range at a bit over 300 miles after driving it 2.5 hours with no battery charge from the dealer. It takes about 12 hours to charge on 120v, but then uses little to no gas in hybrid mode. The estimated range hasn't gone down because the battery is charged. The 23 mpg only comes into play if the battery is drained. Drive it with a charged battery for less than 25 miles and the gas engine comes on for a few seconds while accelerating.

    As someone who has owned this for 7 months, the biggest issue with this SUV is that inline 4. An absolute mismatch with the truck and sounds awful. And the battery loses about 10 miles of EV range during the winter.

    • @harvsorrow
      @harvsorrow ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not how PHEVs work. The hybrid system is always available so the power is always available. When it "runs out" it just can't do pure EV driving.

    • @1bluensx
      @1bluensx ปีที่แล้ว

      @@harvsorrow not true. Watch Doug demuro’s video on this vehicle. The acceleration is dismal without full use of e motor

    • @harvsorrow
      @harvsorrow ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The e-motor is always available unless you're flooring it constantly. The battery is never fully depleted (unless crazy driving).
      It's how PHEVs work. I also own one so know by experience.

    • @Kinetic2040
      @Kinetic2040 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@1bluensxI have a Trailhawk 4XE and can also confirm it always has full horsepower and torque on an empty EV battery. In fact, draining the battery and losing access to electric-only mode essentially puts it in sport mode (engine plus electric motors at all times) which is faster than the standard hybrid mode. Hybrid mode has a second of lag time if you hammer it from a stop while it decides to kick on the engine for the boost, obviously sport mode doesn't since it's always on. Same with a dead ev battery.
      When you drive you can watch the green (electric) and blue (gas) bars on the dash. They rise and fall to show you what's being used. Dead ev battery still has just as much green power as a fully charged battery. The ev charge is only used to keep the engine off.

    It'd be hard to decide, the jeep is very nice when fully loaded and would get the Federal Tax credit, however, for the price, I'd consider buying the BMW X5 50e. The Beemer has a bullet proof inline 6 with more EV range and comes standard with air suspension. I'm wary of a Turbo 4cyl in such a large heavy SUV, the turbo is working extra hard when it's ICE is running. The BMW, has a larger engine, so, the ICE won't put as much strain on the turbos....And from renting the Grand Cherokee 4Xe, the transition from EV to hybrid mode is abrupt and has some hesitation unlike with the BMW X5 45e, which I've rented as well, the transition is seamless and almost unnoticeable, and with the 50e, the charging time has improved tremendously.

    I genuinely do not understand the benefits of a plug in hybrid over a normal hybrid or just a more fuel efficient engine. This cars max range (470miles) divided by its fuel capacity (19 gallons) is literally under 25mpg, nothing about that is impressive when the ecodiesel it used to have got up to 30mpg and over 700miles in range and even the 3.6V6 gets up to 26mpg and a range of almost 600miles (23 gallon tank) plus that's considerably cheaper, uses regular gas where the phev uses premium. I don't see any benefit to this especially for the price.

    • @harvsorrow
