  • My Husqvarna 2-cycle gas Weed Wacker is having some fuel/carburetor problems, so in this video I adjust the carburetor until the machine is running better and not stalling. There are three adjustments on this machine: The idle screw, the low speed carburetor adjustment screw and the high speed carburetor adjustment screw. I tweak all three here to get it running great.
    Here's a link to the individual 21-spline carburetor tool I used in this video:

    Here's a whole kit with multiple wrenches for adjusting carburetors on a whole array of motors:

    Fricken great explanation. This is TH-cam. You kept it simple and made it super easy to understand. The little diagram of the high and low adjustments made this so much easier than the other videos. Thank you

      And to think, I thought this was going to be a quick "filler" video. Turns out its super useful and my highest performing video right now :D

    I think the issue with my machine is exactly this! Been searching for weeks on how to fix and I'm hoping this works. Thank you!

      Did you ever end up trying it, and did it end up working? My machine has been running great. I even used it with a chainsaw attachment this Winter out in the freezing cold and it runs and idles great! Totally worth the expense of the little adjustment tool.

    Hi, I just tuned mine , the book says max 11000 rpm but mine will only reach 9600 , but I've richened it down to 9000 approx and it seems happy .My carb screws are just slotted 😮 and it's difficult to keep my driver in there when adjusting (UK) so I think yours is better 😊 Greetings from UK 🇬🇧 😊

      Perhaps theres a restriction in your carburetor? Maybe you should run some sea foam through your machine? Also how are you measuring the RPM?

    The manual says to adjust the fuel mixture screws after the engine has been fully run-in, 10 tanks of fuel or something. Ideally you would use a tachometer to do this but at least it runs better now.

      My machine is years old so that was not a problem for me. Usually they're tuned pretty well out of the box anyway, and it's only after they've been running for a little while, that you start to have problems with it.

    To help us more when you switch from adjusting the low speed to high speed you should say so rather than having to guess which one you are working on.

    • @YardworkWithJohn
      @YardworkWithJohn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I see what you mean. You can tell when I switch to the high speed screw because I adjust that screw while I have the throttle trigger squeezed, and I adjust the low speed screw while the machine is idling.

    So i recently changed spark plug, fuel filter, and air filter in my 128. Now its having problems where it gets bogged down when cutting, and whenever i pull thr trigger fully. I had to pump the trigger frequently in order to keep it from working. Will adjusting the carb help or maybe a bigger problem?

    • @YardworkWithJohn
      @YardworkWithJohn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would confirm its the right spark plug, and maybe remove the fuel filter to make sure it's not restricting flow. And if all that checks out, then yeah it might just need a carb adjustment.

    • @SandblastedSkye
      @SandblastedSkye หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@YardworkWithJohn so it was a Husqvarna official "tune up" kit off Amazon. Now I won't lie, the fuel filter has a few black dots on it, so I'm definitely changing that first. Got some carb screwdrivers as well as a new filters. Appreciate it

      @YardworkWithJohn  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SandblastedSkye Doesn't hurt to double check all the parts even in an "official" kit. Always remember, everybody sucks at their jobs, you only know its done right if you do it yourself, right :D

      Got a new filter in, along with a wrench. Adjusted the low speed only a half turn, did alright on some test cuts and doesn't bog down now but we'll see how it goes when I cut the grass next time. Appreciate the help and info

      @YardworkWithJohn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SandblastedSkye Good luck! There's only so many parts in a motor this small so the problem has to be something fixable. That said I had a craftsman chainsaw that stopped running one day and nothing I did would fix it. I tried everything I could think of and eventually just trashed it.

    you turned it one way, then the other. Which way is "left"? That is not well defined for a screw. Is counter-clockwise what you mean by "left"?

    • @YardworkWithJohn
      @YardworkWithJohn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Clockwise would be right, and counter-clockwise would be left.

    • @iuvalclejan
      @iuvalclejan หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@YardworkWithJohn Also, is counter-clockwise richer or leaner? I'm thinking I need to make mixture richer, since it stalls when choke is not engaged, and is fine when choke is engaged.

    • @YardworkWithJohn
      @YardworkWithJohn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@iuvalclejan I would suggest doing what I did, and turn it back and forth both ways while it's running. You'll hear the motor run better or worse as you adjust.

      @@YardworkWithJohn Definately not the right foot gear! But good video. It helped me since I do not know which knob does what. I agree it is annoying the manufacturers use special adjustment screw heads to try and prevent owners from making adjustments.

      @@stevenlund3061 Can't argue that (regarding footwear!). Also yeah, philips head screws would be just fine. Or even some allen wrench screws if you wanted to get fancy. But these completely custom screws are incredibly annoying.
