Steam room is really good for clearing muck out of your sinuses and off your chest as well as a deep pore cleanse of your skin. Nothing beats a good hour or so in the gym steam room & jacuzzi for unloading stress strains on your body and easing those muscle aches & pains!
how old are you im 75 and still flat out , just been on the Bristol uni doing a clear on the new build external , on cherry pickers 65 ft up for final hand over ,used a 440i titan , do a lot of intumescent with the Graco 695 , but air assisted airless always looks good , jotun not bad drop of stuff , used a lot of HMG

I've been telling David ages to start and film his work but I will be honest it's quite involving making videos I don't fink people understand how much effort it takes you need to enjoy the process because the money you can make won't cover half the hours involved 😊👌👍

Normally we use a jack and a sanction but this got grinder tuck to it after it was pulled out as I had a time limit my goal was do as much area as possible and prioritise on the harder areas it eats alot of time lowering the jack down etc

How long would you say it’s been since this boat was done for the last time? Where the bottom lays on the beams doesn’t get painted or do have a trick up your sleeve?
@noeraldinkabam I'm not sure on it maintenance history. And yeah these areas normally get jacked at 1 end then blasted painted etc then do the same at the other end but this was painted as it sat then when it got pulled out they used a grinder and painted the areas when it was out of the water 👍

@cindzz47 normally the boat is ready for me but I asked if I could get the heads up and hold back so I could get to film it been pulled in 😏 ideally it wants to be dry but I can work around this with a little experience if you notice I dint film for long but I flicked over the base to knock the thick off in turn allowing it to dry quicker then I can get under without it been an issue 😎👌👍
What's the sand consumption? I blasted Komatsu wb97 using over 2000kg of sand and that's without wheels and cab. I have to replace pneumatic deadman switch for electric one like you have because the pneumatic is complete bs.

The paint you took off was a real thick coat . Could you do a light blasting and use a chemical to etch the old paint and then paint over to retain the thickness ? I know that could not always be feasible and if you take it down to the bare metal you can guarantee the work. Also the bottom was very rough so that needed removing. I was just thinking that paint was thick and the metal underneath looked in good shape. Enjoyed watching the process !
@vainwretch yeah idea of having it blasted is to remove the old and know the serface has been keyed properly painting over old work will void the manufactures warranty on the new coatings as the old coatings could fail or not like the new chemicals in the fresh coating
Question what happens to all the sand blast medium that goes onto the floor of the dry dock during the blasting process is it cleaned up or just left when the dock is refilled.
Tell me this Mick please does a 250cfm compressor work more efficiently than a 100cfm in terms of abrasive consumed? Because the volume of air flying out the end of the nozzle does a lot of the work?
Any cfm will consume the same media it's the operator that needs to know how much media to use alot of factors are at play too lean and your going to waste diesel too rich and your going to waste media optimization is a factor its pointless having 400cfm if the pipes and nozzle don't match loads of other factors are at play. Remember bigger the cfm the more the service costs are so it's a hard question to answer you need to know your workload and your ability as a beginner I would say 140/180cfm is a very good starting point 200/300 if you have the ability to learn fast as costs will add up and errors will cost alot more to put right and trust me error will happen it's definitely not as simple as point and squirt as the videos make out 👍

Ive only blasted a few times , originally starting off with anchor chains and small pieces now im hired on at a shipyard and upgrading to marine blasting on ship decks and tanks. any tips on blasting inside tanks ?? Ceiling first then floor or reversed ? How do you deal with nerves and low visibility? What nozzles are most effective in confined spaces ? Love your work ! Watching your videos builds my confidence as im trying to obtain my C-7 Certification ! Hope to hear back !
You need to do alot more research before entering a tank I duno of your location but the is laws in the UK in place to stop people working in tanks for the risks involved I had to do a course to obtain the correct qualifications to be legal and insured 👍
It's a lot better set up than Staniland. Do they clear up the shot after the blast as this is a big problem for the next use in the dry dock. And did the customer not mind you spraying there 240v plug in 😅. ( I did notice the prop was covered up) Brilliant job though thanks for Sharing bud 👍

The 395£ plus vat and delivery so just over £500 😬 this isn't just a alloy tip it's tungsten and the xl model only the best is good enough 😏 probably not worth it to a hobbyist or part time blaster but I'm working it 8 and 10 hours aday 5 and 6 days aweek 😊 it is alot but they put up with alot 💪👌 I've had cheaper versions and for something so important it's not worth skimping on although I do make sure I get my moneys worth haha

Tea stains (flash rust is usually because the fresh steel has come into contact with water it will only need a wipe with salts remover or a wipe with a light sand paper) not a big deal to be honest but you have a good eye to spot this 😊👌👍

I price per job normally but this was more of we have this amount of time and we want to spend X amount see what you can do and it went really well 👌👍

You gents might get benefit from one of those laser beam “blasters”. No grit dust and you could zap those barnacles into steam!

I'm curious how "dry ice" blasting would work on this with the thick antifouling paint layers. Less clean up, but would it work on the thick paint.
