I've said this before, but I'll say it again, I love how Pioneer have started to make their equipment similar to there club/festival style equipment, especially making the outter jogs have the same circular indentations as the CDJs
I was pleased that Pioneer came out with a controller where upcoming DJs can step up their game without breaking the bank. I am enjoying my DDJ 400 so far. It a long way from the WEGO4. If you need to up your level but can't afford the DDJ 1000, I feel you will not be disappointed choosing the DDJ 400. I didn't feel lost on my first club gig. I knew my way around the CDJs and mixer for I practice with the 400. Great video.

I like that with Pioneer, you get a full pro license of the software so you can record your mixes. That alone saves you anywhere from 69 - 100 dollars depending on whatever special serato is running.
I am so happy Pioneer has settled on a layout that represents their club gear. Their other introductory controllers have had really wonky layout choices and this is the first one that makes sense. Ever since the wego 2, I've had a lot of respect for the sound quality of their intro controllers, along with the jog wheel quality. I actually bought 2 of these controllers so I could have one at work and one at home so I can mix on my lunch break and finish at home before editing the sessions together for a complete mix to post. The only thing I would like to see in the future from Pioneer is for them to make the next wego based on this controller and get rd of the stupid lights and off layout.

I stuck at chose between s2 mk3 and ddj 400. I play d'n'b mostly. I read a lot of comments about low output volume level on s2 mk3. You make a grate review on s2 mk3. Have you noticed a problem with the s2 mk3 output level? Does ddj 400 has louder output level in comparison with s2 mk3? Which controller is better, in your opinion? I apologize for the huge number of questions, but these flour of choice drive me crazy ))
They are both on the same level... Get the S2 if you want to use traktor and the DDJ-400 if you want to use Rekordbox... Choose the software first then the hardware...
Is this a worthwhile upgrade from a denon MC2000? Or should I be looking at the MC4000? I do like the idea of getting used to pioneer and rekordbox (currently using Cross 4.0), but the MC4000 seems like a better bit of kit. Any info appreciated ✌
If you want to stay with serato then maybe the MC7000 is the upgrade you want to go with. If you want to go with Rekordbox, then this is like a lateral move from what you have now. If you want an upgrade, then its going to cost like $400+ more...
How do the jog wheels feel on this, compared to the Roland DJ 202? Jog wheels are a big thing for me, as i am ia previous user of CDJ's, but have since just gone back to bed room DJing after selling my Set up, the Wheels on the ROland DJ 202 look very nice, decent, quite tight, i am hoping the DDJ 400 feels the same or similar and not too loose?

Everything works with VDJ8 so you can choose whatever you like, but go check out my "best dj controllers for under $400" video and you will see plenty there. Check out the DDJ-SB3, DDJ-400, MC4000, Mixtrack Platinum, and the Hercules Jogvision to start. They are all great....

A lso include in your reviews hows controller sounds when cue thru headphones, I am Denon fan does it sounds better or lower than Denon.
like the unit but, shouldn't they have put the microphone jack on the front not out back.
It really depends on your preference... Some people like it in the back for the performers and some DJ's that use the Mic like it in the front.
