- BEWARE OF MARKED MONEY IN THE PHILIPPINES -BANK REFUSED TO TAKE MY MONEY
#travel #entertainment #lifestyle
Today we went to open a bank account at Philippines National Bank. We had all the proper paperwork needed to open an account. I wanted to open a cash account and had $100 dollar bills to open the account. After the bank manager looked at my money he informed me that some of the bills were marked and the bank could not except them. Make sure to check all your bills here in the Philippines because some banks and some money changers will not except them. A NEW LESSON LEARNED.

Thanks for the marked money advice enjoy life in the province!
I like your attitude ! Never let the silly things you have no control over stress you out!
It's only eggs he get real upset about. And want pepole to be scked from there jobs if not done how he wants it.
I've been refused exchaning dollar for pesos because of the age of the bill, excessive folds, worn bills, and markings. It's pathetic that these money changers want pristine condition bills. When I get hundred bills from a US bank, I only accept pristine and current print bills, because I know I'll have problems with them in the PI. It's stupid.
Yep, you get the extra sprinkle of stupid here in every aspect of life. Fallout of total corruption.
Good to know!
Because the Philippines likes to f*** with people and you can't say nothing back or they get butthurt boohoo f****** who
😮
@@robertcrowder3606😂😂
Some of the policies they have in the Philippines just boggles my mind.
Happy you got everything straightened out at the bank I will remember that when I come over the house is coming along nicely all my best Ramon
I guess we all have differant definitions of paradise....
Fun video Brian and Lot, things are slowly coming together at the house. Lot's family is great, all the kids get along great too!!
Braver man than me, Philly.
I could not handle life there.
You seem happy, that's all good. 😊
Jeez it's really a new life 😊
Good on you for looking at the positives instead of the negatives.
ANYTHING with an aerosol propellant like most hairspray or right guard antiperspirant will take those inked numbers off in 2 seconds without damaging the bill in any way.
*Thx4share interesting content Philly* 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Little stress nothing the Philly cant handle. Thank you for sharing you and all family be safe🙏 and stay healthy 💪. great production 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for aharing.
You bet
I'm surprised a country with so many strict rules and procedures can't keep the electricity on.
Believe me you aint seen nothin yet .....its the strangest place on Earth and its awfully hard not to get angry at times.
I explained to my pinay wife, in the USA the electric company rushes to get your power back on, because they ain't making money unless the meters are spinning. Don't know why they ain't figured that out in the Phil's yet.
@@davidjames5727 NOTHING is important in Philippines
Hope your truck gets in soon Brian !! A whole new life ahead of you now lad , make the best out of it !!!
wow the house looking better and better nice thanks for sharing take care
If you're coming from the USA.. Josh , bring brand new $100 or $50 bills. And do not fold them. Keep them laying flat.. In transportation.. Remember pristine bills..
the philippines is an unnecessary dumb place to be. How do you guys do it? lol
Good to see you’re beginning to get settled in your home and navigating the challenged of “Island life.” Keep going with the flow” in order to maintain the various levels of stress you encounter.
It is good to See other places
No more walking street 😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 One bank I think it was bdo did not want to take my USD because some bills had the " mark of being Folded in the middle others were missing a tiny part of the corner" so that was a headache and pain i the A after waiting 45 minutes in line they told us their BS ...
👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Good morning my brother. I'm always looking forward to your Vlog and your wifes Vlog. I hope you're all enjoying the new move. And the new house❤🎉
Great information
Glad it was helpful!
There’s always gonna be pain in the ass stuff anywhere you go.
Hehe...welcome to the province
Province life 😂 brown outs there every week sometimes 2-3 . Exchanging US bills there is a nightmare very picky .
Luv the house. Getting there.
Third world Bank thinking, same here in Panama. Good luck on your transition.
A few years back, In Barreto Barreto, I had a $100 bill that the money changer would not accept - I found my personal Fixer (a relative of a friend) and he went to a bank and got it changed. Your story sounds like a Filipino Soap Opera :) Oh, my gulay ! ! ! !
EVERY VIDEO I SEE YOU GET MORE AND MORE FILIPINO 😂NICE JOB BRYAN
I am still envious.
Interesting video👍
Thank you 👍
Wow, grandma gave you the stare down. Happy for you all and thanks for ALL the teaching about what is real.
Don't mess with grama
@@PhillyinthePhilippines lol
Brian Love the Phillies ball cap !!!!
😮 what how sad no old bills or marked bills
Years ago the Philippines could’ve been part of the USA like Hawaii and Guam is now and this bs wouldn’t be like this bs
Sounds like a life that would drive me insane in no time. I can detect in your voice that even you are feeling the stress of the life there.
Informative video glad your all good at the bank now.😊Will you still be having breakfast somewhere local in the morning 🌄. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻 👍🏻✌🏻🇬🇧
yup money changers either..especially at the airport..we have to get clean bills from the bank here in the states first
Don't take any marked or damaged USD notes to Thailand. They're far more strict on banknotes than Philippines.
When I collect banknotes I tell the bank all banknotes must be new, unmarked.
They nit pick everything..and then look at you like your the problem 🙄... good luck.. I've actually been through this ... very frustrating at times.
Try Koreans they take anything
But they will give you back torn/dirty/ marked up Philippines peso 1,000 notes. So after been
coming to the Phils the past 14+ years, 3 times a year, and now living here since last year, I
decided I will play the same game with them. Was in SM Dept. store in Tarlac, and i went
through all 100+ ...1,000 peso notes they were giving me, I refused over 30 of them and
made them replace them with perfect ones, process to exchange around 2,000 US took
almost 1 hour with having to write down all the serial numbers.....inspection of my money
and me inspecting there money.....2 can play this game !!!!!
Why did you have to write down all the serial numbers? Thats horrible
Loved the video and seeing scenery of the new place...the music reminded me of a 80's movie where someone is training for the big fight...😅. God bless you and your family.
Welcome to the province Brian
Wow, never heard of a bank making it so hard to GIVE them your money. Hahaha. It will all work itself out, eventually.
Oh you have no idea here.
My personal favorite is them asking what I'm going to use my money for, this is so annoying for privacy issues that they ask in front of the entire bank and that it's none of their business.
It's my money.
@@thomasodetinape4180 Really? They asked you what you were going to use the money for? That is insane. Being a smarta$$, I would have probably ended up having to explain to the police that I was joking, because I would have told the teller at the bank, "I plan on buying a bunch of drugs and selling them at a huge profit. Meet me behind the bank when it closes in two days and I'll give you a good deal." Hahahaha. I don't smoke, drink, and definately don't use drugs, but if someone asked me WHAT I was going to use MY money for...smarta$$ in me would come out. Hahahaha
Marked small rip doesnt matter any blemish what so ever and its going to get rejected. They have no problem handing you a twenty peso that looked like it had been in someones ass crack but your am bills better be pristine
whenever i go to US for holiday, i bring back cash to Philippines, my US bank gets a laugh at how i check each bill so carefully before leaving, haha, your right, it is what it is! anyway, love your video!!
Get phillipine pesos from your US bank 😅😅
@@TheRocketrob3 , Im from small town on US, like province, they dont have, I tried, oh well!, have good day
Thankyou for the bank note info on dollar acc.will check my dollars .great video..thankyou.
Philly, is starting over again from scratch in the Philippines. I couldn’t do it that’s for sure! 😎
What an ordeal, hope you find it worth the trouble.
Happy Father's Day to you Philly. Happy Dad's day to all of the dads. God bless.
Welcome to the jungle. Thanks for sharing
You bet
These province videos are great.
Well done rocky
Welcome to the Provence Brian
Good advise on the marked money..when I get to Manila this week, I will keep my eye out for the marked bills...there is always a surprise waiting for you in the Philippines...take care brother..
I love all ❤️ your videos Brian ❤❤❤❤❤
you are brave Brian....lol...the Philippines is very special indeed....lol....but you and Lot have a great family and plenty of support, God bless you all.
Even the people are slow haha
Brian, the issue you're describing with the bank isn't a matter of speed, it's just outright incompetence. Hence, the reason I love to visit these places but will never live in them.
You've obviously got a ways to go before things settle down, but you'll get there.
ive ran into same problem with ink on money, get clean cash before u get there,no folds and tears, thos new US 100's bad to tear if u fold
That's so nice, no rent! We move to Antique at the end of June, and we'll have no rent, too!
glad you are settling in, all the goat rope reminds me of the military...lol
This happened to me on our trip to Polomolok south Cotabato mindanao in 2022 Any tiny ass mark declined. Any tiny wrinkle declined of $100 bills. Then the $100 bill they excepted the 1000 PHP I received was in horrendous shape. I learned my lesson. Last trip we ordered new $100 from bank here prior to flying out
Crispy king lami and barato Permian ko❤diha datiii
Congratulations, Brian, on your new life in Paradise. I think they call it "living on Island Time," having to be patient due to the slowness with which things get done there. Thankfully, Lot was able to successfully navigate you folks through the bank goat rope with the bill markings so that you could get your joint bank account. Like you say, one day at a time, as "it is what it is..." Godspeed.)
Can feel your frustration but at least your didn't have to walk home passing hundreds of outstretched hands asking for money. I had some English money once that had some writing on it and was refused. I eventually found somewhere to exchange it but had to accept a lower exchange rate, from memory I think it was 20% less. Where the hell is that truck? are they floating it across on a bamboo raft!
When I sailed out there 20 years back, this was a problem, not only in the Philippines, but in several places in Asia. I was told the money changers stamp the money, so when they get it back they don’t need to check if it’s authentic or face. So when I ordered cash from the agent in Singapore for crew wages, I always had to state that notes had to be without stamps or writings. Once I had to send back close to US$ 20k with him to change because of writing or stamps.
good man
Fixing a generator or Mickey mousing a generator 😂😂😂
Sir thank you for the tip about the marked money that some banks give and not to accept it and for just a good video. God Bless You and your family's also always be safe and healthy. all your videos are always good thank you sir.
I have the same issue with British pounds but I took it to a bank street pawnshop but they give you a few pesos less.
Hang in there 👍
Haha. I had the same experience in Samar 😂.
Great update Brian!...I am a little surprised that you have lived in Phills so long and just got "burned" for your 1st time with the "marked" bills. When getting money from the bank, I always 1st count it out for the correct amount, 2nd go over each bill from and back to look for any markings, writing, ink issues anything that would cause the issues you had....sorry you had to learn the hard way.....but surprised it just happened to you for the 1st time.....Look forward to more updates as your adventure continues to expand....
Welcome to province life
Thanks for the vid! Island/ province life is really slower - you'll have to get used to it.
I'll also say here what I wrote in Lot's vid - don't put too much money in the ancestral house. Don't build/ improve too much on land which isn't in your (or her) name. Land disputes are common in PH, even among relatives/ family. When grandma passes, that property will be (and should be) divided among all her children - that's the law. That's if the family owns the property - sometimes it's just "rights", so check that as well.
It's better if you buy your own land (maybe buy a portion of grandma's property & have a separate title) & build a small house there. For now, make the place livable (for your immediate family) but set aside $$ for your own land. That's my take bcos I've seen & heard of many land problems in PH. Good luck & good health to you & your family. 👍
I just went to the bank yesterday to get carry cash for my wife. It is annoying. It took me 4 withdrawals to get enough perfect bills.
I’ve known this from 7 years ago coming to the Philippines 🇵🇭 I unfortunately had another encounter this past March, where a few American 🇺🇸 bills 💵 were kinda crooked at the edges, and they refused it at the airport. I was however, able to exchange them at the money 💴 changer outside, for a lot more than the airport had given…note to self…always bring CRISP BILLS 💵 ❤😊 Stay safe Brian, hope you enjoy the Province life with your family…I’ll be back soon 🔜 😊
The slowness of this area reminds me of Batanes. The people are fewer too.
I hope you and Louise are able to make the transition well. My wife said there is good surfing on the island. Maybe you could do some videos of your riding the waves soon. God bless
I seriously doubt he can surf....a surfer would never live for a long time in Angeles City.
This reminds me of when I lived in Hawaii for few years. They were never in a rush to do anything. It's island life and if you are not patient you will have a hard time. I wonder how long before your place is done hopefully not too long.
The house is coming along
Jakarta would give me less for older bills. Everywhere in Indonesia did. You had to have crisp clean new Benjamin Franklins to get the top exchange rate…..everywhere.
Most places, banks/money changers will also refuse a bill with a tear
Always fun in The Philippines.
Well known fact; no creases, no dog ears, no tears, and absolutely no defaced bills will be accepted pretty much anywhere in the Philippines.
bruh! that is a hell of a real story! what is the deal with mark bills? what is the meaning of that? money is money!
"it's More DUMB In the Philippines"
I always take cash on my holidays to the Philippines, and Thailand. And money changers & banks in both places will refuse dirty, torn or marked notes! I always save up any nice clean notes i get throughout the year ready for my holidays..... You always said the pace of life moves slowly in the Philippines, i'm guessing you'll have to step down a gear or two more on Siargao Island.... I hope your moving truck shows up soon.... and still full of your things!
The money exchangers outside take marked bills without hardly any rejection.
Although, I keep clean$ bills in hundreds.
This is stuff you will have to deal with and overcome it. Had this same issue in Escalante several years ago at the BDO bank not accepting my USD. Never had an issue in Metro Manila. Maybe it's a small town thing.
Still money.
philippines national bank have branches in the USA,, thx for the video ,,now i know what to expect !
Yes it needs to be fresh off the press most of the time they hate it if you have a Bill with a Mark or small rip. Lot should look at a co-op account since you are in the province it has many benefits check in to it you may find it helpful
Check other exchange places like Villaricos, they will accept your money. I had China bank do the same to me when I exchange some of my USD, and I went to a local exchange and they gave better rates too.
Koreans are always 2 pasos more then banks
Easy to take pen ink or ink stamps off money & plenty of Vids on YT showing it. If you soak it in nail varnish remover (acetone), paint thinners (white spirit), brake fluid, WD 40 & there are a few others that will take the ink off.
Crispy King!! The frustrating days are the days we look back on and laugh at. If you get an air fryer once the kitchen is done, try putting the Crispy King manok in it! Lami!
yup. i had the same happen to me when the money exchanger didn't except my $100's. i didn't understand the policy, since i would be spending the money here, supporting your local economy. the better policy would be to train people how to spot counterfeit bills (look for the watermark) but it is what it is. just need to roll with it because it's not going to change anytime soon.
I’ve got $1,100 in immaculate Benjamins for our upcoming trip. It took awhile to sort out the bad bills and we’re still not done. Tedious but necessary. It’s the Philippines.🇵🇭
Hello to all of you.
That common practice through most part of asia
