At that time in history and for the majority of it, the strong looted the weak. Thats how it went. That was normalcy.
Ofcourse does not excuse the looting.

We Indians in general, and the people of Kerala state in particular had a good habit of extensive general reading and we are familiar with all the prominent Russian writers and their books.
In the early 1960s there was a special drive in our state under the stewardship of Mr. P.N. Panickar, the then head of Kerala State Library Council, to set up libraries in each and every village under the local bodies . During that time, a lot of Russian journals & literary books of famous authors were easily available.

I think George has a good understanding of India, Indians and Indian culture. My 2 cents to this whole episode.
    1. A अतिथि देवो भव | atithi devo bhav. This is one mantra which Indians have been following for ages, although there might be some decline to this because of nuclear family, modern western culture influence but still it very much relevant. Just to give you a sense of Indian psyche of selfless sacrifice. on an average if you visit any family in the country, even the family doesn't have much money still he will try to offer you the best he can have in house.
During the Ram mandir construction the board went to each and everyone. There was a poor lady and I she had a net worth of only Rs 20 only, literally she had nothing left with her. So she donated all the money the temple construction, the money collector refused to take the money. when the mandir was built, she was invited by the board to attend the opening of the mandir.
    1. B Indians remember who were there during the hard times, so he will always find a support for Russia, Israel and there is a distrust for the USA, China and Pakistan for obvious reasons.
    2. Compared to Europe, Indian environment is not good for health, unless you get used to it or get some vaccine. Almost everyone get TB vaccine/ BCG-vaccine because if you're not vaccinated then you will catch it and this is because dust is everywhere. India doesn't epidemic kind of situation for disease but still there are some pockets where you can find some infections. For example, you will get malaria, dengue etc. in some pockets of the country. Again, I lived in those area and didn't acquire it even once in my life. so how much aware you're will impact your health.
    3. Indians are accustomed to the chaos and we don't find it chaotic at all. we just know which lever works, where. while crossing a road, we know when hand signal works and when we have to increase the speed to avoid the collision etc. Bikers, 4 wheelers etc. manages such situation, I think given the current system, ratio wise India must be having a lower accident ratio. (definitely India has higher accidental deaths in absolute sense).
    4. Bargaining and discounts are the Indian way of life, specially Indian mom can get extremely severe discounts. Life if a street vendor is selling some jeans at Rs 1000, then any mom get it for Rs 300-400. Some holds for vendors, relationship matters.

There are several options available if I search for the orthodox churches in Bengaluru on Google. However, I had no idea what an Orthodox church was. In any case, I truly enjoy your conversations with each other. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and transparency regarding Bangalore.❤❤❤

Great episode. If your guest is reading the comments, there is a large community of Orthodox Christians in India. They are called Syrian Orthodox/Nazranis/Malankara Orthodox communities in Kerala. Since Christianity came to these communities much before colonialism, they have imbibed several local Hindu traditions into their traditions. I believe they have several churches in Bangalore too, if you want to explore it.

Its very true. I miss these bird coices in western countries. In india from the morning i see birds, their voices, i play with street dogs and cows. many times my street dogs sit with me when m in sadness because of some life challenges. they are so lovable that they understand m not happy today. they try to give me hug and cheer me up. i miss that in west. I literally had 18-20 dogs waiting for me everyday in India around my home 😂😂

It is great to hear from George about his perceptions about his experiences in India, especially Bangalore. He is bang on! kudos!! About Orthodox Christians in India …. Oriental Orthodoxy in India comprises millions especially in Kerala and Tamil Nadu with large number of Orthodox churches across major and minor cities where Keralites reside. The Indian Orthodox Church or The Malankara Orthodox Church is the main Orthodox denomination in India. This is an autocephalous Oriental Orthodox Church headquartered in Kottayam in Kerala. They have very close relationship with the Russian Orthodox Church. There are more than 15-20 Orthodox Church’s in Bangalore, including Indira Nagar.

Russians who want to do international trade but are constrained from doing it from Russia due to sanctions by the west can consider starting a business in India. We consider Russians as friends just like we consider Israelis as friends. Tibetans are more than friends. We have cultural affinity with them. Chinese are more like competitors. There is only one country we consider as our enemy and I think the whole world knows which one.

Very important point mentioned at 20:55, The biggest difference for the Eastern and Western cultures is their concepts of Time beliefs. Hinduism, which is the philosophical origin point of almost all Eastern religions, such as Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Taoism, Shintoism, and many smaller religions, treats Time as cyclical. Kāla Chakra is a frequently occurring term in everyday conversation of Hindus, meaning the cycle of Time. The Sanskrit term for the Universe, Brahmānda, conceives of the Cosmos as an egg. The Sanskrit term for the material world, Saṃsāra, itself means ‘the cycle of birth and death’, as opposed to Nirvāṇa, which means liberation from this cycle.

One of the reasons why most of the Indians have basic knowledge about Soviet Union is, till 90’s Russian literature of all types from Maxim Gorky, Leo Tolstoy to Karl Marx’s Das Capital used to be published and distributed at discounted rates in all major Indian languages by Progressive Publishers, Moscow. In fact it has had more impact in people to people relationship of both India and Soviet Union.
