  • Direct abdominal work before sets of deadlifts or squats seems counter-intuitive, but it actually works. Sure, it takes some adaptation, but it will help performance. Listen to Chris explain why and how.

Awesome! Damn, you spew endless wisdom.
Make sense why I love doing core work right before squats and DL. Now I’ll do it in-between sets. F’ing brilliant.

i would warmup with planks but this makes more sense to get in ab work in the same time frame.

My summary: Hitting ABS first before your big lifts makes them stronger because when you start your big lift the ABS are going to be used again and the ABS have no choice but to adapt. At first it will be hard but again they adapt because they have too.

But we should train abs for stability exercice
Because in the squatot deadlift you are not crunching your abs on the oposite
You need to have your chest and hips paralel to each other and your lower back stable
And we can have that by breathing to your belly and flex a little to have 360° pressure on the full core
So the cue of chest up or flex the abs by crunching them is just not the optimal thing to do

@@BuckingHorse-Bull nop i said there is different exercice of core ( abs and obliques and some other muscle)
There is exercice for spine flexion and rotation and stability
Just saying if you wanna do abs before yoyr big lift
Chose exercice that use stability ( isometric hold mainly) like
      Mcgill big 3
      Bird dog
      Side plank
      Hollow body postion
      Plank walkout
Tall kneeling ( watch gray cook video)
      Turkish get up
      Some cable oublike rotation
      Some anti rotation exercice

Having big abs doesn't mean they are able to stabilisize the core
So not all ab exercice are good between sets of squat or deadlift
    We should do stability one's
