    I’m currently a psychology major focusing on substance abuse. Behavioral and clinical psychology are soo interesting to me. Even as a child I’ve always been empathetic to the “villain’s” origin story.

    • @DrRobinWollast

      That's awesome! It's really great to hear that you're passionate about both behavioral and clinical psychology, especially with a focus on substance abuse. Understanding the root causes of behavior, including the "villain's origin story," is such a powerful and compassionate approach to psychology. It's amazing how empathy can shape our perspective and drive meaningful work in the field. I'd love to hear more about your journey and what aspects of substance abuse you're most interested in exploring!

      All of these fields have growing international opportunities, but right now, cognitive psychology and industrial-organizational psychology are particularly in demand globally due to their applications in tech, business, and education sectors. Behavioral psychology also remains highly relevant, especially in therapy and mental health.

    Does developmental psychology deals particulary with children or of all ages? Thanks

    • @DrRobinWollast
      @DrRobinWollast  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question! Developmental psychology actually focuses on people of all ages. While early studies concentrated on children, modern developmental psychology examines growth and change throughout the lifespan-from infancy to old age.

      Thank you, I really appreciate your positive feedback. Basically, to become a psychologist, you should start studying at the university (a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, then a Master's degree). To become a psychiatrist, you need to do the same process but in the faculty of Medicine. Do you have any universities close to where you live?

    Can I ask what is nueropsycology and its function?

    • @DrRobinWollast
      @DrRobinWollast  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Neuropsychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on understanding how the brain and the nervous system influence behavior, cognition, and emotions. It examines the relationship between brain function and behavior, looking at how brain injuries, diseases, or disorders can affect memory, perception, attention, language, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.
      Neuropsychologists often conduct assessments to evaluate cognitive functioning and help in diagnosing conditions like Alzheimer's disease, brain injuries, strokes, or other neurological disorders. They also work in rehabilitation to help individuals recover or adapt after neurological events.
      In essence, neuropsychology bridges the gap between the brain's physical structure and how it impacts the way we think, feel, and behave! Does that help clarify it? Feel free to ask if you have more questions! 😊

    • @DrRobinWollast
      @DrRobinWollast  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Traffic psychology and military psychology typically fall under the umbrella of applied psychology. These fields focus on understanding and addressing specific issues related to traffic behavior and military personnel, respectively. They involve studying human behavior in unique contexts (context of war, defense, etc.) and applying psychological principles to improve safety, performance, and well-being.

    Hi doctor, my friend has this problem, I want to know what branch of psychology he belongs to. What kind of doctor he should see. He is a 45 years old Chinese man living in China. His wife died 5 years ago. He is alone since then. He is a very wealthy man. China is a conservative country when it comes to sex. He definitely has abnormal thought about sex. What he want to do to women and what he want women to do to him is out of your normal range. He can afford to go to Hong Kong to see a psychologist. What recommendation you have for him?

    • @DrRobinWollast
      @DrRobinWollast  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It sounds like your friend may benefit from seeing a psychologist specializing in clinical psychology or possibly sex therapy. Given the sensitive nature of his concerns, it's important that he feels comfortable discussing them with a professional who can provide appropriate support and guidance. Since he's in China, he might consider seeking a psychologist in Hong Kong who is experienced in dealing with issues related to sexuality and grief. Encourage him to prioritize finding a therapist who he feels understands his cultural background and can provide confidential and nonjudgmental care.

    How about neuropsychology? So you considerate it with cognitive psychology and biopsychology?

    • @DrRobinWollast
      @DrRobinWollast  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, neuropsychology is closely related to both cognitive psychology and biopsychology. It focuses on understanding the relationship between brain function and behavior, drawing from principles of cognitive psychology to examine how the brain processes information and influences behavior. Additionally, it incorporates insights from biopsychology, which studies the biological bases of behavior, to explore the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive processes. Together, these fields contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the intricate relationship between the brain, cognition, and behavior. If you're interested in neuropsychology, you'll likely encounter concepts from both cognitive psychology and biopsychology in your studies.

    Hi can u pls tell me more about Behavioral psychology? I'm somehow interested in that branch.

    • @DrRobinWollast
      @DrRobinWollast  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sure! Behavioral psychology, or behaviorism, focuses on studying and modifying observable behaviors through conditioning. There are two main types: classical conditioning (learning through association) and operant conditioning (learning through rewards and punishments). It has many applications in therapy, education, and behavior modification. If you want to learn more, feel free to ask!

    all these topics are deep but i have always been interested in development psychology as it affects all others the way the human grow from a baby to a matured adultthe stages that we pass through the builds our mentality personality behaviors and how do we ourselves impact on that and how huge is our parents role to build that this topic is huge and shows how much parents actually need it to grow their children the right way

    • @DrRobinWollast
      @DrRobinWollast  ปีที่แล้ว

      Developmental psychologists study how people grow, develop and adapt at different life stages. In this context, this field explores how our parents influence the way we are today and how we navigate the world. This is absolutely fascinating and I'm happy to read that you have such a strong interest for this branch of psychology.

    do i need science background to study any of this branches?

    • @loubgomaa5179
      @loubgomaa5179 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ask people of your country. As for me in France I did a Litteracy Baccalaureate and then I studies Psychologye and I graduated in Neuropsychology

    • @DrRobinWollast
      @DrRobinWollast  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, you don't necessarily need a science background to study branches of psychology. Many universities offer introductory courses that provide the necessary foundation in scientific principles. As long as you have a strong interest in understanding human behavior and are willing to learn, you can pursue psychology regardless of your academic background. If you have specific questions about the requirements for studying psychology in your country, it might be helpful to consult with academic advisors or university admissions offices.
