I actually prefer the road car's exhaust note personally. It's the refined howl on the LFA that makes it a legend.

I think it’s because FOS doesn’t really let the LFA ring out all the way, to really enhance the screaming engine note. I’m sure it sounded amazing in person if it had a true race exhaust.

Wow that’s an opposite take from every one I’ve ever heard. I guess that’s why we have variety. I’d be interested to know what your favorite exhaust flavor is.
I heard the car in person on the Nübrurgring in 2011 - sounded waaaayyy better than what you hear in the video. I think they had some sort of silencer on it or didn't use the whole rev range

Yup the final design that ushered in the LFA we know today was done as a Roadster variant that ended up be scrapped for the hardtop only.
Since the LFA was a massive boondoggle on Toyotas finances could expect the reason why Roadsters of the LFA weren't made.
Is that why there’s only 2 LFA Spiders?

@@avatar94100 Three SP8 class wins at Nürburgring 24h is "not very well"? When SP9 (FIA GT3) was introduced by VLN, the Gazoo LFA was only ~10 seconds slower.

Thats gotta be one of the very few race cars that doesn't sound any better than the road car. Not because this doesn't sound good, but because the road version sounds so awesome! But hey, of course it does, Yamaha helped make the engine and exhaust system!

Alot may not realise that this is a restricted race car rev and HP.
Rev limited to 7500 rpm and HP 490 and change as per class rule for the Ring 24 hour.
If you wanted to hear the true howl unrestricted the rev limiter and it’ll happily rev to the fuel cut at 9500 rpm.

This would have been a beautiful car in series like former Blancpain GT Series. But late now.. Sad that these cars leave the arenas, like V12 Vantage too example..

Less haste, more speed! At the same time, that's a lot of car for a very small bit of road and as it's lumpy with it, easy to see why it would be twitchy to drive.

For some strange reason, I was expecting the sound to be similar to the guttural sound of my former Lexus ISF 500 V8 at 7,000 rpm, but it wasn't. As a former race driving instructor, I think the driver in this video should have done a better driving exhibition.
This is a v10 bud. And this is easily the scariest engine of Toyota/yamaha's partnership. If you expected it to sound like a V8 turbo, then you need to reevaluate professions
Do you know the LFA should have originally have the engine behind the driver. LC 500 was originally to be the Toyota Supra but it was transferred to Lexus.
In a sea of exotic famous brands of super and hypercar manufacturers you tend to forget the small sprinkling of toyota built bullets over the last 50 years almost all of them unmatched in reliability .on the street or in the jungle there is a toyota that will bring you a level of unparralelled reliability .
I drive a 99 toyota 4 runner 4.7 v8 swapped from a tundra ,the old v6 engine died at 546,000 miles I rebuilt the transfer case, front suspension , transmission ,rear diff, 4 years ago when I swapped the v8 .best car I have ever owned .
I wonder would Toyota ever make that a crate engine... that would make for some interesting swaps..

Very jerky on the steering
Typical for rally racing.
Regulations is the cause. If this was circuit racing the driver would have to accept the ideal line provided by the setup of the car at hand and even go slower if he had to.
In circuit racing you're not aloud to hold more than one line. In rally racing they have the proper starting pace to live space from one driver to the next and the regulations allow you to be as erratic as possible.
The throttle (gas pedal) is setup literally like a switch in some race cars too. Rather than being variable (like how normal cars are), it's either on or off. That makes it snappy.
Notice how on the final turn at the end the gas was on and off for a few seconds.
would Toyota even make replacement panels for this car? if not dont crash

Clicking on this video, I thought this was going to be the best sounding car of all time. However, I think the LFA's V10 dosen't work in a racecar. Its too refined, baleful and soft - when given a race exhaust it kind of contradicts itself. Cool car tho.

It just sucks that this car was insanely overpriced for the money, and most of the attention was taken by the GTR which released around the same time.
Either this car is horrible to drive or the driver isn’t very good. So many errors
