There is a huge difference between child actors/models and kids being apart of a family vlog. How frustrating!

I’m a 65 year old professional and enjoy all your videos, even the ones of exploring nature at the creek and pond. I am an avid gardener and have had chickens and rabbits. The fact your videos are family friendly means I can share them with not only my adult children, but more importantly my Grands. Passing down knowledge of how and why we take care of land and animals to provide for ourselves and others are great character building tools in developing people who are good contributors to our society. I enjoy Houston’s enthusiasm and his wonder of life. Seeing things through his eyes brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart. Ok- I haven't been watching forever. Maybe about 9 months. But I do love your videos. And I would be VERY UPSET if I didnt get to watch them anymore !! There are maybe 4 videos I look forward to watching.....& yoyrs is the top one. I wouldn't say your videos are directed to kids.....I wouldn't say your videos are directed to adults. I'd say your videos are directed to FAMILYS. So, I can see there are videos that TH-cam needs to get into. But yours isn't one of them. I can honestly say, if I had any grandkids yet....I would feel completlt alright with setting down & watching your videos with them. Or even letting them watch without me for a minute !! Even tho my comments never get a personal answer, I would be so upset if I couldnt watch yours anymore !! So... please make sure you hang around for along time please !!! It's a dang shame! I sincerely hope this situation can be resolved, to everyones liking. I enjoy watching your videos, even though I don't live on a farm, never have...never will. It's fun and uplifting to watch those who do...even educational. The government really needs to romp down on content that is detrimental to children and exploitative, by nature. To me, a child actor or model is someone who is being paid to play a part in a video. A family member is entirely different.
I love to watch the videos. I feel it is a family friendly video, you talk about the animals and your gardens. It shows a lot of family time. The children have responsibilities on the farm. Love them all

Do you pay him to appear? Does he gain a monetary profit? Do you reward or bribe him with a object, (toy or food etc) to appear in your videos? No, he is part of a family and part of a farm that you film. If he is an actor then your animals are actors too and you would have to follow the rules for animal actors too. Easy to fight if you want to go threw the hassle.

I think your channel is a family channel. So as well as others I think they should add a Family category to youtube.

The question is what are the standards that take his kid from just being his kid in his Dad's video to meeting the LEGAL definition of an Actor/Model? If it's a wage (stipend) then according to existing Child Labor Laws, a child under the age of 14 can work in agricultural jobs or in their parent's businesses as long as it's not hazardous.
The so-called new Child Labor laws haven't even been passed yet as far as I've read (maybe you've learned differently) so if TH-cam is trying to get 'ahead of the curve' they could rather EXPLICITLY explain their rules so Video Makers truly understand what is what...

It's our responsibility as the parents to monitor what your kids are watching. I've stopped my kids watching some channels that are intended for kids, because it's not kid appropriate content. My kids love your channel and your son. He does a great job and knows his stuff. He's a good kid.

I like the way you ended the video. We forget sometimes this is still a fairly new technology and way of life. There will be some trial and error. Best way to keep platforms like TH-cam honest and user friendly is competition. Hopefully as time goes on there will be viable alternatives.

I personally think your channel is family-oriented as in with your hothouse and you're planting stuff and Houston's around it's showing that kids can do this as well as adults so, therefore, my vote is your channel is a Family Channel.

If my child watched your channel I think he had made a great choice. I love your channel as your content models great family values. I watched it the first time for the content on self-watering planters( I now have 11 self-watering planters across my back fence). I got hooked. I have learned new gardening techniques and love seeing the love, honor and respect your family have for one another. Thank you! From a suburban, retired empty-nester.

I just saw a suggestion for a 2nd channel. A second childless channel by the Awesome Daniel that youtube will still promote that creates desire for u to see the family version. That channel would funnel new viewers to the family version. Still more work for less profit tho.

@@miriambertram2448 From what I have read after seeing Daniels video, is that "child advocacy groups" whomever they are, sued the youtube saying they violate some law that was passed in 1998 that tech companies couldnt collect and sell cookies to target advertising at kids under 13. I guess youtube is doing that. But my concern is who are these "child advocacy groups" and why are they pushing this agenda? I think there is a deeper reasoning behind this. This just proves the more power government has the worse they screw everything up. The only thing this is going to do is hurt the TH-cam creators who rely on their videos as income. I started watching this channel a few months ago on FaceBook, really enjoy your channel. I agree with a lot of the other commenters, yours is a family experience. Huston is part of the family and should be part of the story line.
I just found your family farm this week. Looking up farming ideas and there you were. I consider you a farming content. You just happen to have a smart creative little boy and your wife and daughter who help you out. You work together as a family. I like that kids can watch and learn from your whole family.

No they aren't killing FAMILY content. Go read COPA... The statement is clear, *the fact that a kid is featured in a video does not necessarily mean that the video is made for kids. It's only 100% kid based channels that are affected, Family content with kids in the videos are not affected.
And for that matter, they are not outlawing 100% kid based channels... they just may lose some money. So, those are still allowed.

I think he may be considered a paid actor due to the fact that he/the family benefits from the income from the content. I was shocked to learn that winning $$ in a poetry contest makes you a Professional Poet¿¿ Lol crazy!
A paid actor is someone you hire to perform on or promote something on your channel. Not your child who is on your channel about your life. He is only a paid actor if he is paid directly for his performance for every time he is on a video not because he benefits from the money earned by Daniel.

It's a family show and I think you're a hell of a good dad. A lot of people can learn from how you teach your son the right way and the wrong way.
101% percent not a children’s channel. So sad for this changes.
It's also not advertised for "children" either. It would quite different if more than half of the content was just following Houston around on farm-ish adventures and not Daniel himself sharing his homesteading life with us. His quick appearances are nothing as far as I am concerned (Not trying to be mean or dismissive of him!!!) With the new rules or guidelines....

I am a 73 year old grandmother and I watch you videos. I consider your videos to be more for family watching than a video for just children. I love seeing a family doing things together and working with all the animals. Pray TH-cam decides to leave your channel alone and let Houston remain a part of the videos. You as a family makes the videos worth watching.

They need a "family" category. I love this channel and I can watch this with my grandkids and not have to worry about anything bad on it. This channel is for both adults and kids and I understand they want to protect kids but does that mean eliminating all family channels that have their children as a part of it?
Your videos are for families and anyone interested in farm life. Watching your channel is no different than people watching golf or fishing videos. There is nothing wrong with your content. I love watching you and your family on the farm. I'm a animal lover too so that makes your videos all the more interesting to me.
