Hearing the airport story with the baby helps me know that Ashley and Mike are normal people like the rest of us and not magical superheroes. They are such an adorable couple, and I hope you and your kids have a great New Year.
I'm with your wife on the gymnastic bar. Just be sure to put down some padding under the bar and the girls should be safe. And if they get hurt, that's a part of life as well. I understand your misgiving because you're a personal injury lawyer but Mike, you have to remember that the vast majority of injuries folks have don't warrant a trip the hospital, let alone calling you. So yeah, let the girls get bumped around and cry. It'll teach them to be cautious in the future or learn what is acceptable and what isn't.
I googled your name to find your website, and the sponsored search result was a Personal Injury Attorney from Delaware (which is where I live). So congratulations Mike, you have become commercially synonymous as a personal injury attorney!
Traditionally we don't allow girls the latitude to try and fail that boys are allowed, to girls' detriment. "Teach them competence at living dangerously" (Bujold). You've identified the biggest risk factor (the oldest goading the youngest outside her abilities). Make competence at living dangerously the criterion for raising the bar: if they can, to your satisfaction, explain the risks, consequences, and safety measures for responsible use, they deserve they experience of flying free (and blame-free trips to the ER)
Mike, I like your shorts too! This is the first video I've seen of yours. Man, I honestly just have to say: Mike, you married up! Your wife is not only pretty but very beautiful! You guys are indeed adorable together! Now I gotta watch E 1-3.
Merry Christmas to you all! Explanation for when kids don't believe in Santa anymore but have younger siblings When it's time to become Santa.(Apologies for the long post) I was asked several times this year about how I dealt with the kids finding out the "truth" about Santa, so I figured I'd share it. I always saw it as a transition from receiving Santa, to becoming Santa. I sat each of them down when I felt like there was some doubt, and asked if they wanted to know the truth. When they said yes, I told them that they would never relate to Santa the same way, once you know the truth, you can't unknow it. Santa is real, but it's not an old man who lives at the North Pole, that's how we describe the idea to kids who don't understand it the way I'm about to explain it to you. We simplify it, and create the joy of the season. Some kids may tell you that Santa doesn't exist, and that's because they aren't ready to know the truth. They aren't ready to become Santa. Saint Nicholas was a real man, and he brought toys to children, but when he passed, the adults in the village agreed to carry on the tradition to keep his spirit alive (decided not to dive into Coca Cola's creation of Santa, lol). Santa is giving for the sake of giving and spreading that kindness to others. It's helping people believe the good in the world, and giving them hope. It's putting all of the words we use to describe being a good person into action. Santa is an act of community inclusion, and regardless of any of our differences of opinion throughout the year, kindness and the spirit of Santa is something we can all agree upon. When both of my kids found out, they got excited to help, and honestly that was truly a gift. They started thinking about things they could do for others immediately. I love this time of year, and time and time again those kids find a way to make it more special. I'm so proud and lucky to have them and share the joy of Santa with them. I hope it can work for you too. Feel free to put your own spin on it. Merry Christmas!
My parents use to threaten us with just no christmas at all if we didn't behave. She said she would return all our gifts and call Santa. December was the one month I always behaved.
Mike, I am with you on the gag reflex!! I used clothespins on my nose to change my kids diapers back in the day to help me. I still have a bad gag reflex, when our dogs get sick or have an accident.
If someone is going to play Rafi in a movie, it would he Shawn Ashmore. They look enough alike, he plays a lawyer on the Rookie, and from what I could tell they have similar ideologies.
😂 I am almost 40 and my mom still say it's from Santa. We all know it's not but it's a game. So Mike... yeah she can still say stocking is fill by Santa.
Take a listen to this weeks podcast (out today). We talk about money / taxes. It’s not “my” money or hers - I mean that in a serious way, even if your comment was poking fun.
Having grown up in a home that didn’t go with the any of the santa stuff it’s hard to wrap my mind around deceiving my kids for years and then telling them one day “ya it’s all a lie, we buy the gifts”
Because it’s not about you. It’s about creating magic, consequences and then helping them realize disappointment, providing a soft landing, helping them deal with diversity. It’s part of growing up. It’s part of life and you go through it with them. They still will remember the magic the feeling is positive.
@@djsdjsjdjshjwbdnskdk Somehow I still manage to raise 4 children with wild imaginations and letting them read, dream play and encouraging them to follow those dreams and we can go into a fantasy at times together as they learn what’s real and what’s fake in the world around them without deception..
5:39 that’s not silly. We have always done the same lol. My parents did it. Their parents did it. I always thought it was a catholic thing lol bc we come from a huge catholic community and it’s how it done. My husband didn’t do that and thought I was silly too. Haha.

Ashley's podcast is back!
100% agree. Ashley should host her own talk show.

Merry Christmas!
This sounds like a great idea, thank you for sharing!
For most of the airport segment I thought they were talking about a dog I was so confused.😭😭
Like why is your dog in diapers??
Merry Christmas to you Mike and your family. 🎄🐕
My parents use to threaten us with just no christmas at all if we didn't behave. She said she would return all our gifts and call Santa. December was the one month I always behaved.
In Australia a duvet (like a comforter but thicker and with a cover) is normally called a doona.

Hi! Hope you have a nice day! You guys are awesome and also Merry Christmas 🎉
I love how you talk about getting YOUR salary Mike and YOUR money, when really its just Ashley's salary, just like this is Ashley's podcast.

Many people grew up with “Santa” and turned out fine. Get over yourself your inability to understand childhood!

Merry Christmas from the Galloway's. You are such an adorable couple.
Is there a bet on what happens first ... child gets hurt or apparatus gets ignored ?
I think your pretty wife is good for you, Mike. 😊
The hard to wrap presents are from Santa!
Is Fin alright? Is he ok?
Who’s Fin? His kids are Charlie and Wells, right? Sorry, I am new to Mike Rafi.
@@LadyBirch In previos episode of his podcast, there was a story of a fish named Fin and how sick he was.

SO....... I'm going to guess that she either loves or really hates hallmark movies
