52:16 It saddens me that Cimo didn't use Balze Accelerator Reloaded to pitch Rocket to draw. He would've drawn Pot of Greed which would then go into a Duality and he might have gotten to something like a Royal Fire Storm Guard. Payne96 would be ashamed.
52:27 My heart sank when Cimo didn't realize "During the Main Phase: You can send 1 "Volcanic" card from your hand to the GY, and if you do, draw 1 card." includes sending Volcanic Rocket . It would have let him draw into Pot of Greed and then into Pot of Duality and Traptrix Myrmelio. This was a fun one to watch either way though
I never realized how much my entertainment comes from Progression series and the like until it disappeared for a week. Thank you do the content you make.
With how quickly Nekroz runs out of resources with the relevant rituals at a single copy, Gage’s deck ends up being pretty fair. Had Cimo been playing a deck that was actually competitive, game 1 would’ve been an easy win.
@ZeroX7649 even that doesn’t seem like enough because he’d end up torn between more copies of the ritual spells since he had issues with running out or an additional copy of Brio or Trish. He’d need several additional secrets to actually have an unfair deck. Also doesn’t seem like he has any way of consistently getting into Chain to set up the Djin lock.
My favorite memory from this format was going 4-0-4 at a regional with nekroz. The mirror matches were grindy and so many people loved to play slow. Still got my invite that day. 😊
Yo, I started off really well at a regionals too with the deck. Only losing to Gravekeepers of all decks (Can’t do anything under Necrovalley + Fossil Dyna), beating the mirror twice. Live for top 8 before my ride pulled some dumb shit and saying we had to leave right then and there. Oh well, already had my invite
Alex at 16:34 is displaying an attitude that both of them have that really hurts the potential of the series in my opinion. Both Alex and Gage seem to frequently say they can’t play a given archetype because they didn’t pull any/enough of one or two specific cards. I understand that the cards are needed for peak efficiency in a tournament setting, but they get to play with a traditional format list and have a box worth of every set available to them. Are they really 100% sure that nothing in their entire collection can patch the gap? They don’t need to beat a whole tourney. They each just need to beat one guy, and have very little to lose. They should just pull the trigger on more things and give it a try, and not just the legendary top tier stuff.
Gage ties it up again!!! Somebody really needs to chart out the win records of these two when we get to the end of this era. It’d be really cool to see the helix style shape that these numbers take here
this was one of the best episodes in a long while. i loved this. both decks goated. both layers played well. loved this. the nostalgia, GOD THE NOSTALGIA

This was a really fun match and it was cool to see Gage bring Nekroz to the table. I do wonder, when it comes to the Deck Build Packs, if Alex and Gage should maybe open 2 boxes of those sets when they do them? As for what Gage bans, that’s actually kind of tricky. I don’t think he’ll hit Alex’s Shaddolls because I think we’re nearing the 2015 Mega Pack which has the reprints for Shaddoll, Burning Abyss and Qli. Even though he dropped one of him today, I can still kind of see Gage spite banning Gorz for all the damage he’s done to him.

I’m surprised how many yugitubers are nostalgic for Nekroz. My memory of this deck is trying to play yugioh, not being allowed to play yugioh, and then quitting the game until most of the deck was gone.
ok, so didnt cimo realize he could dumped volcanic rocket with blaze accelerator, then he would draw pot of greed, use it to get another rocket and duality, and then use duality so he could see another 3 cards?
I’ve been waiting since the first episode of Prog2 for them to get to Secret Forces to see what Nekroz in Prog would look like, since Nekroz is my favorite deck. Gage, you’re my hero for playing it!
at 47:00, cimo in chain link 5 used breakthrough skill to negate trish, but in ch4 trish was destroyed, thus it's no longer negated and should have resolved
(commenting before duel) this is probably one of gage's best decks I think he's ever played, if he somehow manages to screw this up, I don't think we're winning this season.
I feel like we've got enough material for a "Gage pronounces card names wrong" montage while The Ting Tings hit song "That's not my name" is playing in the background. Whatever the f**k Nekroz Colossus is... -_-
They said something about mandatory cards resolving last, so maybe they thought Scattershot was mandatory? It isn't but some things feel like they should be. They still resolved the chain in a way where Trish would resolve so I just don't know what they were thinking.
No because Breakthrough resolves before scattershot destroys it, the way breakthrough works is that it negates the effects of the monster activated on the field even if it leaves the field before trying to resolve, it's not like Skill Drain which negates while the monster is face-up.
I love how mad Cimo is to pull packs full of Nekroz stuff instead of Yosenju jank, it's the perfect reverse of the real life experience of everyone who opened this product in 2015. Lol.
I agree do not reveal what deck they are playing before we see the video, part of the fun of the duel is getting the big reveal. I encourage you to alter it, so there is no deck being revealed. The other elements are fine and are an improvement. Great episode!
I don't want Cimo to completely dismiss his deck from last week. His deckbuilding and decision-making in the early game was the issue, plus Gage's hands were cracked. I have a hard time imagining what deck Cimo played that wouldn't get blown out by that aside from a stall deck
I have always wanted a series to see what was the best deck builder set so each deck plays each other from each set and then the best deck from each set then play a tournament to see what was the best deck
i hate to say this but alex should of played chain burn. And I think now that he knows he's staring down the barrel of basically constructed nekros, strap yourself in for some truly Fun and Interactive Deckbuilding from Alexander Cimo.
I love this match up. Both decks are really cool. But Nekroz is cracked!!! Joesph will love this! A quote from cimoooooo "this is gpoing to be a F***ing problem" lol
It's interesting that Cimo would've drawn an Iron Wall instead of that Breakthrough if he had let the chain resolve instead of looking through his deck prematurely and gotten autoshuffle. That could've really screwed up Gage's mirror play if flipped in response. It's true his topdeck COULD'VE been anything, but knowing that is... eh. I guess as the other comments have pointed out, him not trying to pitch the rocket during the last turn for what would've been Pot of Greed was a misplay anyway, so there were some oopsies in there.
Neither one of them ended up with bad nekroz pulls! There is a fun list you can do with brillant fusion and maybe instant fusion if you get nordan. But you can spam normal summon searchers with seraphanite once it comes out. At that point, brio and unicorn are limited anyway and i had some decent success at the time Edit: i also forgot that there is the pendulum nekroz monster thats another ritual spell to make this even better soon!
Does Cimoooooooo have 3 droll & lock bird? I feel like it's more playable now, in the side deck. Since Gage has a decent Nekroz deck now. Plus his other decks can add or draw a lot. Depending on the deck he plays.
something I just tough would be cool is add a Trading part into this series, let me explain how I think it could be implemented 1- The Trading can only be of the current Set 2- The value of the card that is searched can be valued in points, what you think makes it point is up to you guys discretion, but for example, if we go by rarity alone, lets say 1 Super Rare is 3 points, so it could be traded for 1 Rare of 2 points and 1 Common of 1 point 3- Of course, Both players have to agree to the exchange itself 4- The Exchange doesnt have to be done on camera, if it is done just tell us at the begining of the next episode There are a few reasons why I would like something like this 1, cause there are a few that neither of you can play BUT, if you mix a few pulls of each other it becomes aviable, specially there are many times in the end where you talk about your pulls and do mention each other you did get a few of those cards the other is missing but not the other pieces 2, this will also add the option of the Trading Cards aspect itself into the series 3, this adds a bit of a mind game into the competition, cause, would you agree to complete your opoent set if it means compleating your owns strategy? or will you remain mum about it? as I mentioned in the rules, the exchange can only be done for the cards of the Set you currently are in
That sounds interesting. I think it needs to be fleshed out a little bit more, but I think it has merit. It would be interesting to see how they might implement that or something similar.
Great Episode! For next season it would be cool to have the option to open additional boxes of a set. This could take the place of redoer tickets so instead of getting rid of the first pulls you would just open another box. It would be great for sets like this.
The redoer tickets are to help eliminate completely shit pulls in an episode. The extra box would completely unbalance the series, because even with bans, the winner would only need to score a couple wins in a row to completely run away with the series like with what happened in prog 1. The way they have it now would still net a much closer set of wins between them than what season 1 did or your idea would likely give them. Imagine what would happen if someone rolled that. Sure, they would be able to get a halfway decent deck out of a shitty opening, but if their pulls were already halfway decent, then they would be playing especially in later yugioh, a meta deck that they could just sit on for several episodes while the other player maybe built a halfway meta deck if they were lucky, and with one box. It would then take a gargantuan effort, or a really bad episode to get another win and be able to catch up. No, that is a really bad idea. It's just season 1 mixed with season 2. I would agree saying open another 6 or 12 packs, but the redoer ticket just solves most of these problems and more in a more efficient way.

something I just tough would be cool is add a Trading part into this series, let me explain how I think it could be implemented
1- The Trading can only be of the current Set
2- The value of the card that is searched can be valued in points, what you think makes it point is up to you guys discretion, but for example, if we go by rarity alone, lets say 1 Super Rare is 3 points, so it could be traded for 1 Rare of 2 points and 1 Common of 1 point
3- Of course, Both players have to agree to the exchange itself 4- The Exchange doesnt have to be done on camera, if it is done just tell us at the begining of the next episode
There are a few reasons why I would like something like this
1, cause there are a few that neither of you can play BUT, if you mix a few pulls of each other it becomes aviable, specially there are many times in the end where you talk about your pulls and do mention each other you did get a few of those cards the other is missing but not the other pieces
2, this will also add the option of the Trading Cards aspect itself into the series
3, this adds a bit of a mind game into the competition, cause, would you agree to complete your opoent set if it means compleating your owns strategy? or will you remain mum about it? as I mentioned in the rules, the exchange can only be done for the cards of the Set you currently are in
That sounds interesting.
So now gage has both Dragon Rulers and Nekroz... Well shit.

Gage pulls 2 tier 0 format decks in playable form with Rulers and Nekroz. This mans gonna show up in POTE format with full power Ishizu Tear.
