I love that sound! I used to do this with a Boss DD3 and a CE-1 and 3 amps. Dry out from the delay would go to the CE-1 stereo out to the left and right amps, and the delay signal would go to a Hiwatt in the middle, adjust the delay for a short (a few milliseconds) delay and single repeat and use the delay time knob to time and phase align the sound stage of middle amp with the stereo amps. Huge spacial wall of sound that doesn't wash out or lose punch with the dry amp in the middle. All overdrive or distortion also goes to the stereo pair and the dry middle amp keeps things tight and solid with that tone too. Giant Alex Lifeson Permanent Waves tone. Try it!

Awesome tones!!!!!!! I love that gritty Les Paul into Marshall tone but there’s few things more impressive than a strat in the right hands. And your boy Simon can make that strat sing. Jangly rhythm and leads to die for. That strat, chorus into Marshall tone kinda has a Hendrixy univibe sound to it. Sounds like Simon is tuned a half step down too I think
Very nice sound and playing. The stereo chorus gice a sense of space and thickness without too much 'effect' sound. Can be even more spectacular with two more different amps
Love the chorused sound. My first "big boy" amp was a Rivera S120 stereo half stack with two 60 watt power amps and chorus. Total beast once I got a feel for setting her up. About 193739279 knobs and switches though.
Frusciante actually had a Marshall Major 200w in the studio recording BSSM along with a JMP, JCM800, and a pre-JMP Marshall for primary recording. You can see the Majors notably larger head cab in their Funky Monks documentary. The Major sits differently with the band and provides a larger tighter emphasis on the lower bass frequencies. His CE-1 chorus ensemble also has a much warmer thicker sound that helps tame the treble on brighter marshalls. I also think the early 70’s strat in this demo, with its gray bottom pickups have a brighter thinner sound than the strats frusciante typically used in the 90’s. 1960-65 pickups have a warmer more low-mid focused sound to them. Great demo Johan, it’s great to see some Frusciante love on this channel!👍🏻

Bruno Portugal Thanks for sharing this! Do you know any other details about his effects chain from BSSM, and which amps were used for which tracks? Was the chorus pedal really a DOD FX65 instead of the Boss CE-1 as rumored? I think this is probably true, because on tracks like the outro of Under the Bridge, you can hear the chorus modulation in both L&R channels, whereas the CE-1 in stereo would only have modulation on one side. Also, any info on compressor pedals? There's tons of compression on BSSM, but I can't tell if it's from a pedal or a studio rack -- or maybe both. Appreciate any more info you can share, or if you have the interview published somewhere -- thanks!

I never said blues guitarist suck. In fact my fav guitarist is Hendrix . I merely posted that I personally think that Fruiscante is overrated. I will admit that before his downfall he was a better guitarist but after he burnt hi brain he lost it. If you look at Leith Richards whom I totally dig. Might be burnt but still has the chops..dexterity and knowledgeable imagination to still kill it.
Yeah. But in the great scheme of things John Fruiscante is not a very good guitar player at all. As ee all know....Its not what you bring to the table......But who you know. 2 Marshall stacks is still very cool though

I am droppin’ names, and little stories ’cause, i am nobody, as nothing in Pop Music world. Inalso, saw, Prince, cross my path in silver hi heal show attire to concert hall, James Brown,..real close up, ..spooked me out a bit, the king of soul! The guy who sang Papa’s got a brand new bag,..1 meter from me,..seeing directions,..shook Bo Didley’s hands and chatted about efx he used in a close bar foom show,..i said, those r nice colours,...square guitar he used! ..and, Joe Walsh bowed to me, took off his hat while aftrer concert, i could on,y here, i see he and Ringo come out back entrance...inguess i applauded, so, he tool off hat and bowed, just tomme there. I kind of made sure noone snitched their guitars teachie leaned up against bus,...i got names! 🤪
..i just thought of something; when u use real gear . A mic, not just direct line , will pick up subtle , in the room or air , acoustic guitar sounds too, not just pups dl and speakers? ...Hey Johan, ., i got a Tele! Well, Lily is but, a squire. I come here, feel one of the boys, but, i am, experientially on a ipad so far behind you guys with real gear and studio. But, i found this Line 6 ios amp/rack , thought i got better tone, as it sucked so far. I eill look into Yonac and Positive Grid next. ...just as a joke, for comparison, of real to virtual amps, i will let u have a earful of it’s timbre/tone. Will put new strings on soon. Very sensitive to weather changed, but, she stays in tune for a session. My second choice was a MoonBlue Ibanez, but, hoped a Tele would be more bridge stable than whammy bar guitars. LTD, but, all i coild afford was a Korean less quality version, then Japan maxe esp....i will next buy wireless bt pair, ...for , midi , power cables are a nuisance. Any opinions on the new wire less 6,3 mm plug connexion, regards quality of audio. Let’s say Simon here played via a bt set, with same amps?
the '77 pickups are letting you down in that guitar Johan! get yourself some real '73 stagger poles, much better sounding pickups.
Agree for the Strat sound in this video. Sounds like dead strings or tone is rolled off.
We actually compare this guitar to 20 Strats of most vintages from 54 to 74 on this video

And have chosen to let the 76 set stay in the guitar
Demo of his gear but none of his music
Hm. To me that sounded like, a Boss Chorus pedal. Nothing special. I didn't think Frusciante either. perhaps you have to be in the room
It sounded like this in the room. And in my Book it’s one of the best tones and playing achieved on this channel
@@JohanSegeborn ok. great playing. I'm just not into the tone as much as you.
Well nothing left to say is there defenders of the ex junkie.....and by the e
Ay. Steven Adler still smokes on drums
Johan ran out of ideas long time ago.
Maybe you should stop stopping by then?
Johan Segeborn they fell off the good vibes wave I guess. The content has consistently been awesome since day one and counting
Thanks Benji, great to hear that!
Yeah. But in the great scheme of things John Fruiscante is not a very good guitar player at all. As ee all know....Its not what you bring to the table......But who you know. 2 Marshall stacks is still very cool though
John Crapper What’s your criteria for a good guitar player?
Ok how about this.....a good guitarist can play more than major..power and 7th chords and do more than struggle to play a pentatonic scale. Watch his instructional video.....he should be embarassed.
John Crapper Is your main criterion for a good guitarist to have good theoretical knowledge?
@@Vigi It helps!
@@Vigi ok Vigi. Im just saying that I think John Fruiscante is an over rated sloppy un knowledged hack. He should thank god everyday that he has rich friends. And I always laugh at hisfake teeth because his real ones rotted out from being a scurvy junkie.
