You are the Bob Ross of woodturning, Phil. Calm demeanor and wonderful results in about a half hour.
Except no afro...lol
Thank you, Jeff! 😊
If I can find a picture I'll post it. I used to have an afro! 😊

Thank you so much Phil. I am a newbie to wood turning. I have been a wood carver for 4 years, mostly wood spirits but I bought a Record Power Cornet Hearld. I have so much to learn and a short time to do it(72 years old). I have made several salt jars with lids, some communion cups and vases. You give me confidence to try some bowls. I have pecan readily available along with sweet gum, magnolia, river birch, live oak, and occasionally maple. I will keep watching and hopefully learn more from your videos. Thanks for sharing your great talent.
Beautiful, black walnut is a joy to work with. Howard's Feed and Wax is great. I love the way it makes the wood feel so soft. Thanks Phil.
Thank you, Jean! Yes, it's a great finish! 😊
I have a forest of Black Walnut trees behind my home and it’s worth a lot of money for the wood. I’ll never cut down any of it because it’s beautiful
😊
Phil,
Lovely. As usual. Walnut is such beautiful wood and the simple, elegant turning with its understated finish just makes it a joy to see. Thank you.
Keep the aspidistra flying!
God bless,
Paul
Well said! Thank you, Paul! 😊
Love the simplicity…and that satiny looking finish serves it perfectly…👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you, Loraine! 😊
Black walnut makes some of the prettiest dishes!! Very nice wok
It does! Thanks, Lynda! 😊
Looks like a very nice salad bowl. Look good. Nice the grain.
Thanks, Russ! 😊
Just finished our cruise. I’m sitting in the airport in Amsterdam watching this video. Wow what a beautiful walnut bowl. It turned out perfect. Well done Phil it made my wait much easier watching you. Now back to the real world 😕.
Thanks for the show.
Joel
I always wonder if at the end of a cruise, are you disappointed it's over or just glad to be going home? Thanks, Joel!😊
I love Black Walnut. That is a gorgeous piece.
Thank you! 😊
What, no bug holes, no bark inclusion, no huge cavities and you got above 600 RPM. A novelty for you Phil 🤪. I always look forward to Friday mornings in the Uk. I wake, pet my dog, make a cup of tea and settle down to half an hour of the Anderson show.
Ummm, that sounds like a great way to start your day! 😊
Thank you for your brief instructions on the use of Howard's Feed and Wax. I really like the bowl's shape.
Cool, thank you for watching! 😊
Plain but beautiful. Black walnut is such a joy to turn and you do such a wonderful job.
Thanks, Doug!😊
Fruit bowl. Years ago, I had a woodworking neighbor who, out of the blue, gave me a rounded piece-work bowl. He died shortly after that, but the bowl has been decorating my kitchen and offering fruit to all comers ever since. The results of woodworking are permanent gifts.
Isn't that wonderful! Thanks, Steven! 😊
I really love the grain coloration of black walnut and this piece has it in HEARTS! Beautiful shape, and although useable, I would almost hate to block it's beauty. 💗💖💖💖
Thank you so much, Vicki!😊
The first thing I thought was you don't have a glove on. Black walnut is a beautiful wood. It looks beautiful. The only time I've seen sanding seal is watching your videos and I was rooting for you to use it. Again Phil thanks for sharing with your TH-cam family
Thanks, Doug! 😊
Nothing wrong with "usable art". Looks good and functional too. Great piece. Glad you had a fun one this week.
Thank you, Harvey! 😊
It's beautiful Phil. Love the shape

At first i was saying do not make a flower pot. Turned out just beautiful. You can really see the chatoyance on the inside. Great work as always.
Thank you, Stew! 😊
I could see the chatoyancy inside the bowl. Beautiful.
Yes, good, thank you, Kam!😊
It’s a beautiful bowl - that’s the best name.
😊
Real pretty bowl again. Howard also has used Howard's Feed And Wax with great results on some of his projects.. . You brought out the beautiful and grain and left a perfect sheen on the wood. GOOD JOB !!!! KEEP ON TURNING
It's a great finish! Thank you! 😊
Phil. That bowl is so nicely done... you never disappoint... you are just dam good..... Thank you
Thank you, Kim! 😊
I know you mentioned that most of your work are not usable and are just art pieces. But even a usable piece is a work of art! Beautiful work.
Very true! 😊
Truly a beautiful bowl, Phil! Walnut always has beautiful grain!
It does, doesn't it! Thanks, Billy!😊
So fine. I had an enormous old black walnut tree in my yard. I was told I should sell it. I did not.
Good thinking, Christine! 😊
As beautiful as useful, I'd say.
Thumbs-up for this piece.

That's a cool thought, isn't it, Robert! 😊
You can’t go wrong with walnut. 💕
😊
Absolutely love it Phil. Black walnut is one of my favorites to turn. Really like the shape of it. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Thank you, Scott! 😊
What a beautiful piece. This was the perfect chunk to create a normal bowl, nothing amazing in the wood to save. Love the finish. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much! 😊
Feels good, looks good, is good! Thanks for another artistic session.
Thank you for commenting, John!😊

Thank you, Hubert! 😊
Beautiful piece of walnut! I love Howard's products! Thanks again for all you do!
I'm glad, thank you, Garry! 😊
The bevel on the bottom reminds me of the potter's trick of using a bevel to make to make the pot look lighter. Love the ripple effect in the bottom of the bowl.
Thank you, Bunny! 😊
What a great choice of finish! Walnut absolutely loves it. The colour and grain just pop. It hasn’t been my choice of finish, but I’m thinking that will change. I’ve been so lucky the last couple of years. A lot of English walnut trees have come down and I’ve been fortunate to collect a pile of the stuff. Great job and thanks for sharing. Cheers, Rick
Thank you, Rick! 😊
I like it Phil. Great change-up from all of the natural edge's.
Thank you, Bill! 😊
Phil, that is a great piece, its what most of us strive towards and makes amazing gifts for family and friends, don’t underestimate what that means to non turning people, great stuff my friend, keep it coming for us all to enjoy 😊
Thank you, Garry! 😊
Even your " Usable" turnings are Art, Phil:) It's just lovely:)
Thank you, Becky! 😊
What a great piece of walnut - I’m envious! And a great result.
Thanks, Bob! 😊
A very elegant bowl, with a lovely finish.

🙋♂️🏴 Hi Phil what a beautiful bowl you have made this week, I love everything about it. I think it would make a great fruit bowl sitting in the middle of the dining table. See you next time. Thanks 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, John, thank you!😊
After last weeks piece, I think you are allowed a nice easy ride once in awhile. Just think about how much popcorn or chips you can get into it on movie night 😉☺
Exactly, Pete, on both counts! 😊
Wow, stunning bowl. Absolutely beautiful piece of wood. ❤❤❤

Very nice job. Everybody would love that bowl in their home.
Thank you, Ronnie! 😊

Well Phil this is the longest I have waited to watch your Thursday video. I was scrambling all day Thursday to get ready for the AAW here in Portland and took all day today to recuperate.
But it was worth the wait. Great design and a wonderful finish.
That was the hardest piece of Black Walnut I have seen turned. but it listened well to what you wanted it to be.
Great job my friend,
Gary
Oh, I bet you had a lot of fun, Gary! Did you laser burn some wooden nickels with your channel name on them to hand out? I probably would have. So, you saw Valerie and Rav? How cool is that! I bet you have lots of stories to tell!
Yes, this Walnut was really dry and hard but, it did turn out pretty good!
Thanks, buddy! 😊
Absolutely beautiful piece of wood. Wood like that would definitely make me think seriously about a bowl coring set up. Very well done sir. I love it. ❤ 👍👍👍

A beautiful piece, Phil! Looks like it’ll hold a good supply of M&M’s! 😊 Great shape, color, chatoyance and finish. What’s not to love?! Glad the cracks turned out to be inconsequential. Thanks for another great video!

Thank you, Cheryl! 😊
Very nice walnut bowl, Phil. It was a bit of a shock to the system to see you turn one, LOL! The beveled foot is a really great feature. Thanks!

That is a beautiful bowl Phil. Black Walnut is probably my favorite wood. I have turned several bowls out of it but my favorite thing I have made was a gun cabinet I built from black walnut, it was absolutely beautiful.
Oh, yeah, I bet that's a beauty, Keith!😊
