  • Catching crappie trolling Bandit and Flicker Shad crankbaits in hot summertime conditions on Lake of the Ozarks.
    This was my first attempt to film a fishing video. I apologize for the shaky head camera. I implement more stable camera action in future videos.

    Have been watching your videos in preparation for a family reunion on Lake of the Ozarks. Can't wait to give your method a try. Been stocking up on the "chartreuse shad"!!!!

    Trolling Texoma with a red Bill Norman medium action crank some of the most fun I've ever had fishing. Not sure why more people don't troll.

    Very good first video! I liked your set up. I have a jet ski rigged for fishing. My wife and I are on it pretty frequent.
    Thanks for sharing!

    Very good video!!! Would not have known that it was a first one. Very professional. Look forward to more from you. I would like to know more about your set up for the rod holders. I have a 21 foot Triton Fish and Ski and have been thinking about something like what you have on the back of your boat.

      I had that rod holder rack custom built for me locally by a friend who is a very good aluminum welder.

    Subbed like the content, I am looking to try this method not looking to invest in line counters and planer boards. YEHHAA from East KY

    Nice set up I saw you fishing for cat a few days ago. I was wondering what your boat was now I see. I fish the north shore about the 5 mile marker but my age complains anymore with winter weather

    Mike, great videos on trolling cranks... Do you feel 8 lbs line is an advantage for casting the cranks?

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mainly an advantage in getting them to run deeper than with heavier line.

    Found your videos by accident and LOVED them. I hope you plan on making more. I love trolling Bandits for Crappie on my favorite lake here. I was having a fit when you were throwing those catfish back. If I could make a suggestion, or ask a favor, in future videos, when you tell what you're trolling with, could you show the camera? I had never heard of Tadpoles.

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Good suggestion. Go here for more info on the tadpoles: www.offshoretackle.com/resettable_diving_weights.html

      Thanks for the Tadpole info. I often get bored with long videos but I watched both of yours from start to end and will probably watch again. They were edited very good so that there were not long periods of inactivity, and Lake of the Ozarks provides a beautiful background. Keep em coming.

    Very good first video. Nice slabs. For your next video, maybe try your camera in a fixed position mounted on a pole or tripod near your console overlooking your transom and rod holders. I was getting a little sea sick from all of the camera movement. Other than that, keep the videos coming.

  • @199tigertail

    how deep do these baits dive in the water column? Also, what kind of rod and reel set up are you using? thanks!

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can get the Bandit 300s down to about 20' and the 200s to about 12 to 15'.I am using some Diawa bait casting reels I have had for 30 years. The rods are inexpensive Berkley Cherrywod rods, 7', medium action. The spinning reels are very inexpensive reels I picked up at Wal Mart. The spinning rods are Wally Marshal rods. Again, 7' in medium action. That is the beauty of trolling crankbaits for crappie, you don't need expensive equipment to have a good time.

    • @MikeBakerVideos

      In this video I am using Berkeley Cherrywood rods and Daiwa reels. For tournament fishing I use St. Croix crank bait rods.

  • @jerryrouth6115
    @jerryrouth6115 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mike, I watched your "#2" video first. You learned a lot between them. First, head mounts can make you dizzy if you move them much and GoPro cameras have very poor audio quality. I like what you are doing. I was raised about 30 miles from where you are fishing. Check out my videos. Thanks, Jerry Routh.

    not to pick but isn't the law in Missouri 3 poles per licensed fisherman?

    • @jerryrouth6115
      @jerryrouth6115 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not to butt in but you can have more than three poles in Missouri but if you do you have to have your name and address on them.

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry is right. You can have more than 3 rods if you have your name and address or conservation number on your rods. The first thing I do when I purchase a trolling rod is to put my name and conservation # on it with a paint pen. I usually paint the tips with yellow paint to make them easier to see.
