    Thank you so much. Went to my mechanic. He ran the codes and told me I need a new manifold. I love TH-cam and YOUR videos. Being a woman/non mechanic, its shameful how SOME people insult your intelligence . ..I have kept from being ripped off because of TH-cam on other issues. Thank you again!

    Great video guys; just had the same issue on my wifes UK model 2006 SLK 280; bought a £25 ($30) fault finder & it immediately identified the P0025 fault. Cleared the code and will now order the replacement magnet parts . Watching someone actually do the job like yourselves, is so much better than reading a manual, so thanks a lot. All the best wishes from the UK.

  • @nv1493
    @nv1493 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The reason the diaphragm rods and center pivot are plastic is to purposely create a weak link if the intake tumble flaps jam. Better to snap that link than risk breaking one of those flaps inside the intake. Parts can end up inside the cylinder head. You need to also check the pvc oil separator on the back of the passenger cylinder head. At that mileage it's probably failing and allowing oil to be drawn into the intake thru the throttle body. This oil cokes on the tumble flaps and can cause failure.
    Personally, at 185k miles I would replace the entire intake. About $600 to buy a complete Pierburg unit which is oem. Replace intake gaskets whenever the intake is pulled or replaced.

    • @joshgray2024
      @joshgray2024 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually they make an aftermarket with aluminum rods,so that it doesnt break. Its not because of swirl flap breaking internally...its a mercedes fault engineers do on purpose just long enough to make it past warranty.

    Just subscribed, great video! Got a P2006 on my '07 C350 sport. It's had this code for a while and I didn't really understand what it was, but was pending, so ignored it for the last 10k miles.
    I let my wife drive the car today and of course it died. She said it died while driving down the road. Could the intake manifold actuator being closed or breaking have caused this? It's the only code being given.
    The car seems like it wants to start but won't. Any advice greatly appreciated!

    • @NoRevving
      @NoRevving  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The actuator doesn't effect any running characteristics. With every crank no start concern, you need to check to make sure you have proper fuel pressure, good spark, and good compression. I suggest you go ahead and swing for a diagnostics from someone. With that info you can decide if you want to tackle it yourself or not. Good luck, friend! Please share what you find out!

    Great video. My 2005 c230 stayed for 6 months without driven in the garage(I travelled out of the country) . I replaced the battery it started.. drove for about 5 minutes and it stopped, steering wheel locked. The car starts but dies after a minute or so. Took it to the Dealership they ran a diagnostic test but couldn't find anything major wrong with the car but the "Cam" was inconclusive. Dealership says it will cost me $900 for a tech to check if Cam is faulty. I need your recommendations pls. Thanks.

    Made it look so easy. I have a 2011 GL450 with a P2004 code. I did verify the flap actuating arm broke at the connector. I have seen the metal kits online for the most $50. My mechanic said they have had issues with them and said they purchase ones for $180, sounds fishy. Are there any other parts you recommend replacing for this job such as gaskets?

    • @NoRevving
      @NoRevving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Intake manifold gasket and the o-ring on the MAF sensor housing (Mercedes Mass Air Flow Sensor Seal - Genuine Mercedes part number 1121590180) Also, replace the plastic arms with plastic cause if you replace it with metals arms and for some reason dirt or something gets caught the actual flap for the manifold will break instead of the plastic arm.

  • @RonVF

    Hey guys! Great video. I recently acquired a 2007 E350 4matic wagon and while driving the other day, 2 codes popped up. My Carly says P0276 - Continuous Camshaft Adjustment (LEFT): Incorrect position of the intake camshaft (P0022). Question: Is the “LEFT” as in passenger side or from drivers seat perspective? Or should I just be replacing all, both left and right? I also got a P0521 Diagnosis of tumble flap “intake manifold” : short circuit to ground of sensor lines / Tumble flap shafts stick in the actuated position (P2004) so it looks like ill be pulling the intake and replacing the flap actuator Also What make is that battery operated racket? I got to get me one of those! Sure beats the old pneumatic. Thanks!

    I enjoyed your video, good info! However, I am concerned about the other set of "Internal Baffles." I believe my 2010 ML 350 (104,000 miles) has the same condition. I've seen another TH-cam video, which showed them splitting the Intake Manifold in two, top/bottom. This revealed both sets of Internal Baffles. All the baffles looked ok, but the guy said he was going to Overhaul the Manifold by replacing all the Internal Baffles, assuming the parts are available.. The downsize of course, is if the Baffles break they go into the engine causing heavy secondary damage. Have you ever seen this happen, my mechanic says he has?

Drove it to work and now it won't crank. You can turn the key and I have plenty voltage but Still won't even turn over... I'm to my limit on this car. It was running decent. Hi Guys, Thank you great Video... (10/10) Just bought a 2nd hand 2007 c230 automatic V6 about a year ago myself. It's just done 109,000 Kms so far. Had no issues since getting same ( @ 100k kms) . Its winter here Australia at the moment and on way back from church yesterday morning, the engine seemed to be stuck in lower gear when I tried to take off at the traffic lights & when I accelerated it seemed to be revving like crazy . Pulled over immediately, put car into "N" while engine still running & then back into drive & it was ok. Still concerned, I then took same to my Auto Transmission mech this morning, thinking it may be to do with same & when he did a diagnostic on car, it showed (x3) STORED error messages ( which BTW I had never seen before?) . ..BTW, NOTE "the engine warning light did not come on when this happened to me ?) ..Main stored error was P0022 " saying "continuous camshaft adjustment (left) incorrect position of the intake camshaft?" . Two others were P0172 & P0175 for both left & right cylinder banks saying "enleanment at Idle is below permissable limits. Ive booked car in to a recommended Prestige Merc Mechanic ( not dealership) to check & just wondering what the most likely cause will be ? firstly whether I can still drive car locally as it appears to be running pretty smoothly now .Also roughly depending on cause , how much you reckon It will cost to fix so I know Im not being ripped off..I Understand & accept there will be labour costs I'll have to wear to do the work ! Many Thanks in advance & look forward to receiving a response from you .. Regards Gerry M

      Oh wow... that's interesting. We're not really sure what that could be. Seems that if the car is "fine" at the moment, you could probably drive it. • @NoRevving
      @NoRevving  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      P0300 is a misfire and P2187 means too lean. Since you smell gasoline, you should see if the smell is coming from the rear of the car where your fuel pump is. You might need a new fuel pump if the smell isn't coming from the fuel pump area. You might have a bad leak from your fuel rails or fuel injectors and those codes are also sings of a bad MAF sensor, so we'd also try to clean or replace that, but start with chasing the fuel smell.

      @NoRevving  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your scanner picks up that code but the engine light isn't on then it's a pending code so it could be barely out of factory specs to where the car notices it but not enough for the car to trigger the light that would mean it needs repair. I wouldn't worry about it, personally... My mom's C300 had this code and she has almost 190,000 miles. Still running strong so if the engine light doesn't come on I wouldn't waste time or money on that repair. Thanks for watching, Omar.

      @@NoRevving Hello I have the same car what s the difference between pending codes and stored codes? Should I only worry about stored codes and forget about the pending codes? I have 4 pending and 3 stored... I would like to get some advice before I start working on it and of course the check engine light is on. The 3 stored codes are p15 p25 and p22 any advice from anyone will help. I'm replacing everything myself.

    • @NoRevving
      @NoRevving  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOS1991 Pending code means the computer is recording how many times something is out of spec. if it’s just slightly out of spec but not enough to be a problem it will either clear itself or stay pending a pending code develops into a stored code once the car decides this is an actual issue that needs to be repaired

    • @NoRevving
      @NoRevving  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOS1991 also, you should repair the adjusters cause they only $20 so just replace all 4 so you don’t have to deal with it later and it’ll handle the p22 p25 and p15

    Literally just got this code last week all of a sudden and at the same time i am getting cylinder 1 misfires. c280 Here with 118k miles. I went ahead and replaced all the spark plugs. I had camshaft sensor codes for a long time (3 of them were either too fast or running retarded). I went ahead and replaced all my camshaft sensors as well. Im still having the p2006 code as well as cylinder 1 misfires and sometimes a cylinder 4 misfire. Can the intake manifold cause cylinders to misfire? Im pulling the ignition coils are swapping them to see if i can get the code to jump to a different cylinder. The check engine light is flashing for like 5-10 seconds on start up and it stays solid if you leave the car running for a while.
    Whats your recommendation, ive done everything my self so far and im willing to do the intake manifold my self if need be. Dealership is really last option.

    • @NoRevving
      @NoRevving  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The misfire code and p2006 are unrelated. We had a misfire on our w204 c class and it turned out to be a bad injector so your misfire might be a bad coil or bad injector since you already changed the plugs the injectors are known to leak from time to time and will cause misfires but the p2006 and your misfire should be unrelated to each other the p2006 can mess with your idle and throttle response but not really known for misfires

      No Revving thanks to the video I fixed my intake manifold after just deciding to do it now and not worry later. I have an on going issue thats been going on longer than anything else and I haven’t found much online for. When I start the car it occasionally starts with the AC light already on but the fan can be set to 0 and there’s small amounts of air coming out. The only way to stop this is to turn the fan on to any setting and quickly turning it back off. Then everything goes back to normal. The car preceded to idle normally, more power or torque maybe etc.... Not so much a problem but a nuisance. Any insight man?
