I saw one of these yesterday, a 59 Devine in Walnut. It looked cool, but seemed like it was made out of plastic, like the boards around hockey rinks. I picked it up and it was light as a feather, and it was so nice to play. Probably the nicest feeling guitar after my Telecaster Ultra. It was just perfect and sounded so good. I may go back and buy it tomorrow.

Dude, I don't know how someone like Jared Dines has 600,000+ subscribers and you only have 20,000. I'm subscribed to Jared, not knocking him at all. You may do more videos than he does and have more equipment than anyone on TH-cam. You should have 600K followers by now.

+JamCave Studio Jared is great... he doesn't review stuff, does he... he does funny videos... those go viral, mine really don't.... I just provide a service... but I am happy, the channel is growing and comments like your tell me that I am on the right track... slow and steady... a channel like mine will never reach 600.000 subs... and that's fine... maybe one day Jared and I can be in front of a camera together, that would be fun !

Hi Henning, thanks for this neat demo. I love the looks of this Dano The pastel colour reminds me of my Sea Foam Green PRS Starla which I love and the smooth clean tones are perfect for me as that is the tone I use most with maybe some chorus or delay. But, and it is a big BUT, as I have mentioned before, I live high in the mountains of Northern Spain where the climate in the winter is very damp and my modern furniture which has Masonite backs, drawer bottoms etc warp like crazy with the humidity. I wonder if this lovely guitar would suffer from the same problem here. If I was confident that all would be well at those prices I would buy one tomorrow! Cheers, Chris.

  • @somebodyelseuk
    @somebodyelseuk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Just bought one of these. Great guitar, BUT, recessing the bridge makes restringing near impossible without removing the bridge, and you can only do that if you unscrew the mounting posts... which means you have to set the action and (maybe) the intonation every time you restring. The recess just doesn't have enough clearance around the bridge unit.
My advice would be either shim the neck to tilt it enough to bring the bridge to a practical level, or buy the model with the metal version of the original rosewood bridge. Otherwise, it's a great instrument.

It sounds really nice for some rhythm and chords. I could see it having a place in some soul or maybe worship music. Although perhaps not its "intended" place, this thing clearly exists in its own dimension. Further, I could see this thing doing well with some surf rock. Beautiful playing, and very entertaining overview!

    • @stoneysdead689

Not sure if you missed it or what but he explained that Zepplin used one, and not just for clean stuff- I've seen country music guys use them, I've seen jazz guys use them, I've seen folk guys use them, funk bands, pop bands, and the list goes on. And I'm not talking about some guy I knew playing one- I'm talking about famous musicians playing on hit records. The Danelectro has an established place in almost every style of music- not just worship or "soul".

well, I may be wrong, but I think the Daelectro pickups have a fair amount of microphonics as well as electro magnetics. I had one, and they do seem to sing a bit even through the pickups, and you can almost play them as an acoustic; only slightly too quiet to pull it off. They are nearly as hollow as a Dreadnaught and they weigh about the same as a Taylor single cut. While playing with a slide, the twang does seem to resonate and sustain like an animal through one as well.

Mate, I would never listen to almost half an hour of a review, I usually go for a 1-5 minute video but I loved your energy. Consider me a new subscriber. From Australia 🇦🇺

Masonite is actually a pressed FIBREboard product and it's quite strong and definitely more durable than particle board chipboard.

I love Danos, and I've fallen even more in love with them since I changed my set-up: a pair of Laney vc30s, slightly overdriven, with stereo FX. Thanks for this demo! Soon I hope to get an orange one of these!

Hallo Henning! Could imagine that the open high e string sounds weird, because of wornout slot on the nut or bridge. That slight buzz kills vibration... just my 2 cents... Grüße, and thanks for all your funny and informative videos!

The other 4 screws on the back holds the pickups, you can actually set the height of the pickups how you prefer by screwing and unscrewing those

These always remind me of "Molly (16 Candles)" by Sponge. Such a cool sound. I'd be hard pressed to pick a color.

Is there an important difference between this masonite Dan and the new spruce?
Im thinking about getting a Danelectro, so it'll be great if you help me with this.
    Thanks!

I love these guitars! Minimalism at maximum! If you thing a minute about how they were/are built... almost cardboard! One more reason to think that the main factor in a guitar are the pick-ups... and these ones sound great..! The 12-strings one is another beauty! Thanks for these reviews. You are really the best! (your reviews ar truly honest, with both pros and cons, and also funny!)

    1. Die Links verweisen mich alle auf die Thomann-Startseite. (Soll das so?)
    2. Die Farbe.... Dies ist wirklich mal eine ''Geschmackssache"! :D
Dafür gefällt mir die Kopfplatte & der Klang.

They carry a model called '66t that rocks the surf tones with a tremolo bar.

oh, do you find the tone/volume to be counterinuitive? seems like the volume should be the 'top' or 'inside' one.

i'd thought this thing a $200 guitar. but what might set it apart from lower-cost models are the tuners, and the pickups. after a couple of month hiatus from this one, i just pulled it out of the bag again, and the pickups struck me for their clarity and power, and the guitar was still in tune. so actually, imo this could be a $400 guitar, despite its 'lightweight' feel. ymmv
