Henning's first impression videos are like full reviews on other channels lol.
I just bought one and I love it! It has its own sound. Feels different from say a Gibson or Fender. It's got that grunge, punk sound out of the box. Love mine.
You know the guitar is worth the money when Henning plays well on it.

I love my danelectro dc 59 xt, despite some minor inconveniences when I got it including a noticeable gap between pickguard and pickup, a patch coming right off that filled a hole in the fingerboard, and fretbuzz. But a 50$ tuneup at the local music shop and it plays like butter 2 years later. Very solid guitar and tone
Man, I love the looks and tone! I also like your playing on this demo. Shows off the axe nicely.
I just subscribed after seeing your channel for the first time. I like your offbeat sense of humor and guitar playing. Just have one Danelectro, the 59 stock. They are definitely a different animal. I'll certainly have to consider one that goes way beyond the 2 lipstick pickups like the one you demoed.

I have a Strat, a Les Paul and a ES-335 and this is different to say the least.
It is calling my name.
I feel the same for some reason even though I have never played it. I'm saving money to buy it. Is it semihollow? Is it light?
Seen countless reviews on this and the 12 String model for many hours and yours is the best by far. You do in a review what I'm really gonna do when I open one myself at home and it's all real thoughts. Thank you so much! I was very torn on which model of 12 String; I'm now decided on the 59xt12.

That guitar has the coolest gnarly sound! Reminds me sort of the vibe (sound/offbeat look) of a Jazzmaster sort of thing. Everbody I've seen on TH-cam seems to love playing these guitars. Middle position is chimey but even has some tele sort of twang to it (in a good way - not the ice pick). Guitar wants to make you play different - really cool!
The bridge pickup in humbucker mode through that amp, ( not sure of brand when you turned around and cranked-it a bit?),....... = magic. Haven't heard anything that special or unique in years! Thanks to you and danelctro, I now have to explain to the wife why I desperately need to spend money. Yes, the design is unorthodox which is partly the point. Love the silver too. Forget all that - that sound!
Love the review! I’ve been playing LP’s and Strats my whole life and decided to add a 12 string electric to the stable. I settled on a Dano 66-12 because of it’s uniqueness and one of a kind tones, it’ll be delivered next week. After watching this I’m 99.9% sure I’ll be picking up one of these to complete the set.

There is a time and a place for everything, and if you enjoy that lo-fi, sizzling, screeching sound of a danelectro you are in for a lot of fun, for a reasonable price. I am personally not a huge fan of the clean tone, but the crunch tone blew my god damn mind
Ps: my favorite part of the video is where you totally nail black dog and then drop "that was strawberry fields forever" without even giggling

Me this video. Sees new HP42 vid. Clicks on the vid. continue to look for guitar parts for project guitar. Henning start playing. I'm like what is this noise, it's beautiful. Starts looking for Danelectro guitars
I’ve got a couple of the old Danos: a “shorthorn” (double-cut, kinda like the one here) and a short scale amp-in-case model. Cheap materials but really good workmanship. Mine have neck tilt bolts, which let me set ‘em up for fast & easy playing. Amazing pickups too, and made about as simply as possible: take a rod magnet, wrap some protective material around it, then wrap that with some wire, then cover the thing with shielding, then stuff it all into a pair of surplus lipstick tubes and you’re done. The pickups in these newer Danos are made a bit differently but still sound pretty good.
Children's toys, or decorative items for apartment which is furnished in the 60`s style. :-)
Just about every who's who in the rock world have played a dano at one time or another. The list is looooong. Ain't nothing toy-like about'em.
From Leo: Fun Review. Nothing else like lipstick pickups. I have an original '56 and have fitted four lipsticks (and 6 way switching) in an SG that formerly had p-90's. Both of those guitars have very distinctive sounds and respond well with a variety of effects. It is always fun when someone complements the tones and cannot believe it was from lipstick pickups.
Great demo! I love Danos! I think they feel a little like a steel string acoustic, which I find comfortable. Intonation's OK, sounds great, looks great! And the guitar's not bad, either!
The sparkle is in the Sound.

Getting "Shake Rattle & Roll" (song by Bill Haley) and "Rattle & Hum" (album by U2) mixed up. So, in essence, he almost got it right.
Sounds like it has compressor on the chain. I love how the guitar sounds.

I get a thrill these days whenever I see a guitar unboxing/review that is of a guitar NOT of the usual strat/LesPaul/tele variety. In other words, VARIETY! Cool looking guitar with some awesome unique tones. My only criticism is the color. Kind of "meh" on that gray paint. You'd want your money back if somebody sold you silver that was this color.

Shake, Rattle and Hum! Well there is Shake, Rattle and Roll. And then there is Rattle and Hum. 2 totally different things like 3 decades apart Henning!
Does Danelectro explain why the pickups are tilted? It can make a difference because it will pick up or suppress different harmonics. I used to have a pre lawsuit Ibanez SG which had the neck pickup on a fifth harmonic node instead of an octave. I had no clue why they did that, but it obviously will produce a different sound.

I’ve seen some people have feedback issues and some don’t is it a prominent issue or just some lemons?
Very Sexy, but it is a Dano' so expected. I need a few of these guitars, do they do it in 12's? I like that colour but would prefer a black and white or black and gold or gold and silver. Dano' & Vox made in heaven.

I think the hardtail one (59x) still has the aluminum nut.
Mike Castle strange, I have two DC59's and that was the first thing I replaced.
I guess it's "their thing" and don't want to get rid of it. Probably doesn't work well with trem so they changed it for ones with those.

I owned a korean made 58 NOS. The hardware was super super bad. The setup was bad. The aluminium nut was super high. I tried my best to make it a good guitar. I sold it after some months in the guitar stand. To ME they are not worth the money at all. Sorry Danelectro. I really tried to like it.

I have a way older Danelectro, and I'll never sell it. They sound fantastic for all but \m/ metal, and let's face it, death to all butt metal :-)
Sonically, it's as if a Telecaster had a snuggly, adult cuddling session with a Rickenbacker. They're their own thing, and what a thing they are. Played through a screaming, small valve amp like a Champ, and it's Sonics/Stooges/MC5 all they way, but they do so much more.
