I have been enthralled with Brahms music my whole life. His grandiose symphonies, his magnificent concertos, the gorgeous choral music. Why is it that this small 7 minute piano piece captures all of it and is my favorite of favorites. Maybe because Brahms was either consciously or unconsciously putting to one song his final eaving the word with a beautiful memory
To everyone who found this new channel through Brooklyn Duo - thanks so much for subscribing! We have many more videos planned with some special guests, but today it's just me with a solo. This piece has always been one of my favourites and I hope you like it too. If you do, give it a thumbs up and subscribe if you haven't already. Thanks guys, and we'll be back soon with more videos! :)
I seriously doubt if there is anyone in the whole world who could touch my heart with a better rendition of this Brahms masterpiece. Absolutely stunning. May God bless you, you are a Master Pianist, and a blessing to those who hear and watch you play.
What a truly inspiring and flawless performance, full of emotion. To achieve a level of playing this well, would be a lifelong dream come true. I'm going to try all the more harder. Thank you for this gift !
In a word, exquisite. Ms. Laird captures the very essence and spirituality of the sun-dappled nostalgia, wistfulness and resignation that is this late autumnal thank-you note from Brahms (written just four years before entering eternity). Thank you for sharing this magical gift.
I'm an aspiring pianist and I've listened to countless interpretations of this piece, but yours stood out. You really moved my heart and made me tear up... especially on the 'espressivo' part.
Every time I listen too you play It reminds me of playing and watching my grandmother, its the emotions that come out as you play your love for music is on full display, thank you for sharing your insite and musical expressions.
This is the best interpretation of this piece I’ve heard! I played this several years ago in a recital and didn’t keep it in my memory or fingers. This makes me want to re-visit this piece.
What an amazing performance,,, I may not professional in music , but I feel your performance is heart touching... this is truly great . Thank you very much to share this joy with us .
Thank you so much for creating a classical channel. Classical music/ opera is pretty much all I listen to. This interpretation is quite stunning keep up the great work!
Marnie, we love you and your classical renditions. Please, popular music is not enough for you, for sure, an amazing pianist like you deserves the best of piano compositions, and for us its a pleasure to watch you playing . We need more classical pieces! Greetings from Brazil!!(Patrick I love you too but as a pianist I just love the piano hahaha)
Oh you heavenly entity. You have partly solved the only problem this exquisite piece has. Its length, or rather, the lack of it! I've always wanted it to last forever & you dared to hang it in the air longer than anyone :) Thank you Thank you
This piece is a favorite. For a almost two years I have wanted to hear you do a solo on the piano. I have always loved classical piano...but you take it to a whole different level. To watch your hands and eyes as you played was wonderfully beautiful. Can't wait to see & hear more!
How did I only come across these magical moments just now? This is a beautiful interpretation of Brahms ... played with such feeling and pathos. Thank you Marnie. You and your piano playing bring such joy into so many lives. It was a heavenly interpretation ... {I was surprised to see the iPad - I miss the pages but I can understand it's so much easier to use the pedal rather than turn the pages!!} Anyhow you so often play from memory; you won't need either for public performances. So there! Thank you again for sharing. Dublin, Ireland.
I love the way you play !! You play it with so much emotion and love , like with all your heart ! I just love it ! I'm a pianist as well but of course not even close to how you play ! but you're such a big inspiration !
I would love to hear more classics, - thank you, Marnie, for this piece of beauty, hope you'll have time enough to post more videos to the new channel. When I'm either at the office doing some routine work (which is only about 4 hrs a day out of 10, since my job is very hectic at times), or working at home on a new novel or some freelance project, or writing a new article, - your music is something that really helps me to put my thoughts in order and survive through my crazy life schedule. Thank you so very much, Marnie, - waiting for new grand videos from you!
Brava! I love the "breath" of the emotional and romantic rubato feel in your performance! This has always been one of my favorite Brahms works, and I love playing and restudying it now and then. Though with my short fingers, I have always had issues with the long "reaches" (rolls which are not written). You gave me some good ideas on how to contend with them a little better....Peace!
Thks chanel is exactly what I needed for inspiration!thank you guys.also classical music is my favorite and I much rather listening to this music than any other music
I just found out this was published on my birthday! Wow! This is..indescribable. Mrs. Marnie, you are one of the best pianists I have seen on TH-cam. The emotion and sheer intensity in which you play is unbelievable. One would think you composed the piece yourself...Well. The Brooklyn Duo have been such an inspiration for me. I'm a cellist and have been only playing for a few months but I hope to eventually play as well as you!! Keep posting! I am in LOVE with this! ❤️
This is a really wonderful performance of this piece. Congratulations. It was so good that this was the recording I chose to have my student listen to who wants to learn this piece for a reference.
