And now 35 years later his farewell tour, makes me a bit sad though. All good things come to an end. Also reminds me of my own mortality. I was 17 when I got my 1st Marillion album and now I am 58. His songs kept me going.
You can really hear the difference in the sound quality, even with the YT compression, im hearing parts I never heard before, after 33 years of listening!
Uncle Fish and auntie Simone you are both already sadly missed Fridays will never be the same again. Good luck with the house and the tour god bless you and your family ❤😢
i get this is critical of the US. I bought the CD when it came out years ago. Just curious whether "Big Wedge" is some sort of UK slang. If so, what does it mean? By the way I've followed Fish and Marillion since the 80s. Love this guy!!
A british making fun of the americans is, as we say in our country, the dead making fun of the acephalous. But fish is scottish so he can say whatever he wants
While I love Fish and my cd collection shipped from Scotland proves this beyond a doubt, anti-American songs like this sealed his fate in the US market. U2 was much wiser and criticized the place they were from while Fish lashed out at America instead and paid the price in the biggest single rock market that there is. And as such, he never played within 1,000 km of my home when he came to America. I always found it funny that Vantsis got pissed that they did not break it big in America and left Fish for a short time. Biting the hand where you want to break it big in is NEVER a good business idea. Great song. Killed his potential career in the USA. No surprise that there isn't a single date in the US scheduled in 2024 or 2025.
Wouldn't it have been nice if this song's lyrics were a thing of the past? They remain as poignant today, if not more so, than the day they were penned.

Great track. And still "Big Wedge" continues to make its presence felt everywhere in the world...nothing much changes over the decades does it?.

Not a fan of this mix, but I'd memorized the original.
Did he call it or what?

He did my great granny in the Barrowland
If I recall correctly, this song was intended for the 5th Marillion album but was rejected by the band as being too anti-American.
He is in sweden next mounth 😊😊😊
