At that point, Nintendo practically gave up on the Wii U and concentrated all their efforts on 3DS and Switch. I would say that Pokémon Sun & Moon was the big holiday title that year. I don’t think they expected very high sales for a rather niche Mario franchise to sell well on a console with such a small player base. And then it probably underperformed even harder than they initially thought...

It's going to be awkward having Sunshine on a system that doesn't have gradual trigger buttons. You can't control the water pressure because all of the buttons on Switch controllers are purely digital and don't have multiple steps to them.

@@punipuno6522 The point of owning another company is so that you don't have to do the things they do while still reaping the rewards. In return, the second party company gets financial support. I would say in most cases HAL acts independently of Nintendo aside from limiting their games to Nintendo systems.

I listen to Super Mario Galaxy songs a lot on TH-cam, and there’s always a lot of people asking for Galaxy ports to Switch. I always considered it to be an impossibility. My hopes have shot up now.

Because big sites like Gameinformer reported about it and claimed it as true. They're usually one of the most reliable sources because they've gotten a lot right. For example the entire look and concept of the switch was leaked by them.

That is true, but we did get burned once from Star Fox Grand Prix. Lots of outlets confirmed that and then it didn’t amount to anything. It could have been cancelled though, as Eurogamer still stands by that rumor.

The entire situation atm is theoretically moving more switches than usual, due to people being at home, so I can see them going lighter with games this year, and doing this collection idea for Christmas to fill the slot without seeming too weird, and not having extreme development costs or anything
they should make it like the Master Chief collection where you can insantly switch between old look and new look

I think they had been wanting to release it next to Metroid Prime 4 until it got delayed.
If they want to use the Metroid Trilogy to promote and build hype for Metroid Prime 4 then they need to wait with the release until MP4 is only a year away from releasing, at the earliest. Any earlier and any momentum from that title will start to fade.

It probably won’t be a ginormous pack of Mario games because Nintendo could make way more money if they sell each port individually at like a $30 price tag (or even a classic switch game price of $60) we’re talking a LOT of games and as much as I would love a mega collection..... I highly doubt that they will do it.... if they did do it that way it would be a missed opportunity especially for the business of people who only want one of many of these classics

I can see this coming true but at the same time I can see this being nothing. I hope they make a Mario collection like 3D world, galaxy, and sunshine but I doubt that would happen.
I really hope this is real. Having a bunch of the old 3D Marios would be great, particularly if they are remastered. I've been on a Galaxy 1 and 2 binge while I've been quarantined, so it would be great to have easy access to 64 and Sunshine. 3D World Deluxe would be so fun as well, it's the one game from the Wii U I've wanted to see ported to the Switch, and with new levels it would be an easy double dip for me. Then with me starting to be a fan of Paper Mario (thanks to Colour Splash, I know, but I enjoyed it despite some flaws) a new one on Switch that's like the old RPG style would be great to! This would definitely sort out Nintendo's second half of the year, and if they space them out well, it could supply us over the coming months without a huge cram during the holiday period, especially if we assume other rumours like the Pikmin 3 port are true

If this were true, I would proudly declare this year the best year for the Switch, just for these games alone.
Not they I wouldn't like remakes/remasters of the 3D Mario games (though I absolutely don't believe this rumour to be true), but getting old games that already exist would be the best year for Switch for you, seriously?? I think you should just buy older consoles then lol.

as much as I'm sure some of paper mario's charm is from graphics, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to a color splash style, cause I'd like to play paper mario and missed the chance to play it on wii.

I just played and beat paper Mario ttyd twice during this pandemic and watching arlo’s paper Mario videos, then I get this! Of course I believe it’s too good to be true, I’ve learn my lesson many times, but anything that gets Arlo to talk about Paper Mario is worth it! ! ! ! ! ! !
I can’t see this as one big collection, but maybe a series of remastered released over the next few years whenever they don’t have a new game. We’ve had a Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Mario Maker 2, and eventfully a Super Mario Odyssey 2 (or whatever then next new game is called). They’ll start releasing these if no new Mario Game comes out.
That being said, my dream game has been Super Mario 64 with Odyssey’s graphics.

03:39 Both the remastered Zelda games on the Wii U have features that no longer work. They got rid of the tingle tuner for those bottles ( that no longer work in 2020 ). Then TWP has some items locked behind amibo.
