Edit: added post-script I don't know how to describe the joy I feel watching your videos. BY FAR one of my favorite channels on TH-cam. You sound like the type of friend everyone wants to have and I just want to say thank you for your videos. They help me keep my joy in day to day life. LOVE YOU ARLO ❤ P.S. Can we be Animal Crossing friends??
Started slow and I wasn't sure I would stick with it, but by about day 4 I was hooked, I spend an hour in the morning and evening with my wife playing this.
the happiness in your voice is making me happy. I love how this game makes grown adults feel. Just calm and content. Altho I caught a wasp today and that was probably the peak of my gaming career.
My favourite thing about this game is the animations on the villagers. They can do so many different things around your town and they feel so much more alive. I like that Tom and Isabelle can be dusting or working at their computers instead of awkwardly standing there waiting for you, and it's cute to see your animals sing or study the flowers or play airplane in the plaza.
This has been my first AC game and I'm loving it. But I have to say I can't imagine how the previous games could have possibly not had crafting. I feel like it's the entire loop of the whole game
In the first Animal Crossing, it was more that the entire concept of Animal Crossing was new. Moving in and the only human in a town full of animal villagers, all the fish and bugs to collect even then, and the wacky dialogue. Do check out some of the stuff they said back in the gamecube game, because the villagers could actually be mean to you back then and it was absolutely hilarious. It also still has the best of the hourly soundtracks, in my opinion. Very atmospheric.
Yeah I sorta exploited the duplication glitch, got all my house upgrades, and packed away a ton of bells to collect interest. Now that it's about customizing the island...and I found out the Golden Items aren't unbreakable, I'm pretty content to walk away for a few months. Maybe an update will bring me back in, but I was holding out a lot of hope that the Golden Items were a reward that would eliminate the need to craft tools/run to Nook's Cranny.
6:08 You can see the sell values when you put items in the drop off box, you just have to do some math since it's only 80% of the normal value. IMO that makes it even weirder that they didn't do that when you sell to Timmy and Tommy directly but I guess they can add it in a patch.
1. Arlo I love you and a picture of you hangs on the wall of my house in ACNH. 2. The deserted islands aren’t really randomly generated and only seem to cycle through a dozen or so options. I wish they were completely random, but sadly they really aren’t.
22:07 I completely agree with this. I normally do my school online anyways, (I've been doing it like this since 2016) but walking always helps me feel a lot more calm and gives me the much needed fresh air. Because of the Winter weather I was slacking on it for a long time, but as of recent I've been trying to go on more walks. Just exercising more is a goal of mine too. It was pretty cloudy yesterday, so I reluctantly decided to walk on my treadmill instead. It wasn't as enjoyable as being outside, (as I expected) but keeping up that consistency was something I knew I needed to do.
Can you believe Nintendo released New Horizons at the perfect time? I mean, everyone is staying inside playing New Horizons, while Doom Eternal is happening outside their house because of the Coronavirus
Arlo ur walk advice is amazing. I never realized how much for granted I took walks. I haven't been able to walk out my front door in 15 days. Lots of people like me can't go walking outside because they live apartments in dense hotspot areas and/or are at risk populations. So please everyone go on a walk if you can right now!
That's what I do now, walking 30-45 minutes every day. I've been stuck at home for 14 days straight with symptoms. I'm glad I can finally get outside :D
"What do you expect from me? I have big, fuzzy hands! I'm trying my best here!" This is the new Arlo quote for when any task is more difficult than anticipated.
I love Animal Crossing New Horizons! Leafport is a beautiful island town! I love my cherries too! Also I was so bored today that I made a hoodie that I got from my old work once because I love it! I’m about to unlock my campsite and able sisters Tomorow! I can’t wait
Nook miles was the thing I needed for animal crossing to really get hooked. Crafting and terraforming also help so much. This is my favorite animal crossing. It has never been my favorite series but I have always enjoyed it. These improvements help so much
Great advice about the walks. Like really really good advice. Walks are underrated, but great for overall physical and mental health. There's lots of research on it, for example they reduce symptoms of (mild) depression and they're great for the immune system. I hope you're well Arlo, and that you and your "roomies" stay healthy. This whole thing makes me think of how much I take your and other creators content for granted. THANK YOU for making videos Arlo! Also, record in your car if you need to, we don't care, we love you no matter what 😁
I love AC! I would having some touch screen interface. Something as simple as inventory management, as tap and drag on the DS was so niiiice. Feels quite clunky now in that regard.
@@hankorbin3230 sike and psyche are both wrong. It's psych. Sike is a common mispelling who don't realise psych is short for pysch out, which is a colloquialism based obviously on the word psychology. Psyche is pronounced sike-ee, different word altogether.
The game is good, but playing with siblings is terrible. I don't get to be the residential representative, so nothing i do advances the shops or the town in any other way and it just feels like nothing i do matters, which definitely ruins the experience. They really should have made it so the residential rep. can choose how many permissions the other player has so if somebody is playing with their young sibling that will destroy the town they can remove permissions but if it is someone more trustworthy they could give full permissions. The only way to have seperate towns is to have a seperate switch, but not everyone can afford that and this would be much better. (Or just being able to have multiple towns on one switch)
I am personally not very into crafting... Mostly into the tools breaking is more annoying than anything, I find myself not catching any fish or bugs because I don't want my tools to break so that I'm forced to remake them... I've loved previous animal crossings, this one I think is good too, but I only play for an hour each day and then I get bored I'm surprised not more people have criticisms of this game
Happy Arlo is the best Arlo! It's day 2 for me in Animal crossing, and I can completely relate to what you say here - I don't remember the last time when a game absorbed me so much, and it's the first time I play Animal Crossing, so I wasn't sure if it's for me or not, but gosh...This game is just so precious...
Wow. Solid advice at the end. I was actually out on a walk while listening to this video. The best way I could describe being out in the woods is like finally being home. Being under quarantine right after winter ended was a great way to make me forget that
Glad you’re enjoying this amazing game. And great advice on the walks. I’ve seen so much more of my neighborhood than I have ever have before, and it’s great seeing everyone being neighborly (at a six foot distance, of course).
For anyone playing and annoyed with the whole "Sell value" thingy, once you upgrade the shop. They have a sell bin outside that will show you 80% of the sell value of an item before you sell~
The only real problem I have with New Horizons is the tool durability-or lack thereof. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't break so quickly, but you can only catch 10 bugs or fish before the net and pole is lost. The iron tools aren't much better. I spent the day yesterday fishing and I went through 5 Iron Fishing rods. It would have been more, but the constant destruction of my tools really discouraged me from fishing too much...
I'm still wondering why you haven't reviewed Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition on Switch. Cleanse your Pokemon disappointment with a good monster game.
Oh man, this game is amazing! I'm really in love! I do have complaints... only a couple though. Do we really need to read a pun EVERY TIME we pick up a fish or bug? There are lots of things the game just lets you pick up, why not go the extra QOL mile?I get it, its a C+, give me my oarfish! Do we really have to craft each item individually? Why let us speed up crafting by mashing A? Its not convenient, it just highlights that you COULD have made it MORE convenient Crafting bait, tools, etc is becoming such a chooore! Why can't we see the price of stuff we're selling in our inventory? You literally have that mechanic RIGHT outside the door! I have to sell stuff for 80% value to get a convenient selling experience, whyyyyy??? Other than that Im lovin' it! Anyone else have gripes? Think they'll patch QOL stuff in?
Mwarrior1991 I really hope they fix that stuff, here are some other gripes I have: -Manila clams don’t stack -Flower plants don’t stack -The max amount of money you can have in your wallet feels a little too low. I’d be happy if you could hold 200.000 bells with using inventory space -Blathers constantly falling asleep in the daytime, leading to additional dialogue -You can only build one ramp or bridge at a time, same with relocations -Finally, Tarantulas have buggy behavior and will often disappear or otherwise faze through terrain
So.. things I like and don't like... like: 1) the theme of using everything you have. being able to craft with your resources feels so rewarding. Even fishing up trash now excites me because I can recycle it into new stuff that looks fun 2) collecting DIY recipes is another loop of trading and collecting something you like to have. Its amazing to finally get that last recipe to get the last part of a set. 3) Nookmiles making certain tedious activities more fun. Catching cheap fish or pulling weeds was a waste of time before, now it feels more rewarding 4) the progression of your town from deserted to thriving is amazing. You feel like you're earning your buildings, your new town people and bridges etc with the hard work you put in. you're no longer a part of a town that already exists, you make the town you want to be. 5) being able to alter your town layout even more than before is an amazing feature for late game. No more randomly placed structures or unlucky generated bridges or slopes, just full control. 6) being able to sell your inventory after the shops close. Man i hate having to fill my house and pockets every time to wait until i can sell it all in the morning in segments. This is a huge relief. As for the things i don't like: 1) you cant acces your storage from outside, so i leave all my crafting materials on the ground because its annoying to go in and out of the house fir materials. And thats messy 2) visiting someone's island takes FOREVER... not only setting it up, not only when youre opening your own town... but the CONSTANT and LONG interruptions when someone else visits or when multiple people join. The entire game stops for over a full minute just for one person to join... every time... 3) the nookmile islands are fun at first, but they lose their appeal. all you're doing is hoping you'll end up on a special island with special colored flowers or tarantula island. Also they don't hold a candle to the New Leaf island visit (even though that was broken with the tropical beetles you could bring back) 4) I dont experience this myself as a single player, but being a second player in your town SUCKS. you dont get anything of the story or progression, you don't get to learn how to make stuff. youre just along for the ride as you take a backseat to the first player. This makes sharing the game on one switch terrible. many of my friends spoke out how theyre enjoying it less. 5) it would be fun if you were able to skip a few nookmiles+ challenges per day. Sometimes i get a challenge to catch a certain bug, while there's rain in my town all day and said bug will not appear. just something like: refresh your nookmiles+ would be nice 6) even though you have a switch, you can't draw designs on your touch pad... even though you can draw on your notification board. its kind of annoying. 7) and, a in a way a good thing: the game is so good that it sucks having to wait for all the editing stuff to unlock. im waiting anxiously for me to be able to make pavements.
couple things - first, thank you for being so genuinely caring of your fans. In fact I JUST came back from my first walk of many during my time working at home so I actually read your mind. Your videos seriously help a lot to feel like I have someone to talk to, so I want you to know I appreciate you greatly :) second - what do you think of free DLC updates as Nintendo has sorta made that their norm? There seems to be a few building and main villagers gone, do you think we'll get an update to build a whole new building? What if its also quest-y/goal oriented where you get the update and get to do a couple things to make the new main villager stay in your town? What if there's something like that with major holiday events? I feel like there's a lot of room for AC to just keep creating new goals and quests for us to do in the coming months

He's flexing on us all
tarantulas only care about you if you have a net equipped!
@@lazulelle wait really what the hell? so if you walk by one with nothing in your hands they just ignore you?
Tarantulas are actually timid creatures even blathers said that they only get aggressive when you are carrying a net
“They could add a swimming update later”
Arlo predicts
He predicted the 1.3.0 update
I love the sideplot of Arlo and Kane and the ocarina.
I also second the 'go take a walk' advice because it's very good advice.
I love that letter that popped up on scene around the 9:50 mark. Dear Kane, Get to work. From Arlo.
Arlo saying "Go for walks" as he is being chased by the killer wasps is peak B-roll quality
Edit: added post-script
I don't know how to describe the joy I feel watching your videos. BY FAR one of my favorite channels on TH-cam. You sound like the type of friend everyone wants to have and I just want to say thank you for your videos. They help me keep my joy in day to day life. LOVE YOU ARLO ❤
P.S. Can we be Animal Crossing friends??
I really wish Arlo had made ‘“let’s plays” of animal crossing. I really wish I could have seen him playing this game. Especially for the first time
any body else see him water the tarantula and then get worried he was gonna get bit but it lowkey just left
Probably the most relatable title for a video I’ve ever seen.
Yeah i have no idea how that worked to be honest
When I get it, it will be my first AC game. Please tell me it's good.
Is pretty damn good ngl
Have fun!
I'm still impressed and frightened that you managed to predict this game Arlo.
"Where the HECK, you get an ocarina"😂
You buy one of the recipe packs from Timmy and/or the cabinet and one of those three gives you the ocarina
@@Joshisepic2222 i had my friend make me one but thats good to know
There's also a pan flute!
@@klg9549 😲 where does one get said pan flute
Arlo: There might be less uploads than before
Also Arlo: *BACK TO BACK UPLOADS*
I wish I didn’t have to buy a whole console for only 1 game
How would you play that 1 game then..
“They’re super tiny and *comfortable to wear*”
Arlo is Youngster Joey confirmed
Now I'm picturing Arlo in tiny, comfortable shorts with a Rattata on the butt.
That quote is my life. Thank you pokemon blue
thank you for that bit at the end about walks. my mental health has been absolutely plummeting and caring words like that make me feel better
Arlo, Quality of Life: In Nook Miles app, move right stick down and it'll instantly go to the reward that you've gotten!
It's funny how you can get a heart on every other channel, yet can't get one here no matter how hard you try
Agreed! Perfect timing!
You are among the legends such as Justin Y and random guy with a mustache
Plant Gang and owo
Penguin Kirb yes I can’t believe if forgot OwO
00:00 This is why I love ARLO, Even the paid commercial spots are hilarious. All hearts, mate. Lol
6:32 HOW iS THE TARANTULA THE ONE RUNNING AWAY
In case you didn't know, tarantula actually run away from you unless you're holding a net.
Because lots of people make the avatar character look like them, have we got a sneak preview what Arlo might look like under the blue??
Spalltendo O_O
Spalltendo can’t be be, arlo is just a blue monster nothing else
Nope, this is footage from his editor. You can see Arlo's villager show up a few times, who's all blue.

Sir Tristan time stamp?
Yo Arlo I've been watching you vids since I was 14 and I'm 18 and I miss your old skits pls do that again bro!
(love new horizons! I'm addicted)
That's what I do now, walking 30-45 minutes every day. I've been stuck at home for 14 days straight with symptoms. I'm glad I can finally get outside :D
I've been going for a jog around my neighborhood every other day and I feel much better now. It's pretty cool, would recommend.
"What do you expect from me? I have big, fuzzy hands! I'm trying my best here!"
This is the new Arlo quote for when any task is more difficult than anticipated.
I love Animal Crossing New Horizons! Leafport is a beautiful island town! I love my cherries too! Also I was so bored today that I made a hoodie that I got from my old work once because I love it!
I’m about to unlock my campsite and able sisters Tomorow! I can’t wait
"they could add a swimming update later" he predicted the futrue
I can't stress going for the walk thing Arlo bought up enough! Trust me, it helps, everyone look after each other!much love
I legitimately got scared, because all I saw was Arlo and "I quit TH-cam." Never been more fearful in my life
Nook miles was the thing I needed for animal crossing to really get hooked. Crafting and terraforming also help so much. This is my favorite animal crossing. It has never been my favorite series but I have always enjoyed it. These improvements help so much
the governement: stay inside, you are quarantined, we need to flatten the curve
arlo: *GO FOR WALKS*
Great advice about the walks. Like really really good advice.
Walks are underrated, but great for overall physical and mental health. There's lots of research on it, for example they reduce symptoms of (mild) depression and they're great for the immune system.
I hope you're well Arlo, and that you and your "roomies" stay healthy.
This whole thing makes me think of how much I take your and other creators content for granted.
THANK YOU for making videos Arlo!
Also, record in your car if you need to, we don't care, we love you no matter what 😁
Arlo’s time has come
He has continued his journey for New Horizons
I love AC! I would having some touch screen interface. Something as simple as inventory management, as tap and drag on the DS was so niiiice. Feels quite clunky now in that regard.
I swear when I saw the title, I only saw the first part, and I was like, “Say psyche right now.”
Literally the same thing happened to me.
A B oh did I spell it wrong? I’m sorry. 😕
A B yeah I asked Siri how to spell it when I was making the comment, so that’s probably where the problem lies. Oof.
"If i can give one single bit of advice, it's not wash your hands."
- Arlo 2020
Ha! Perfect illustration of taking things out of context.
I am personally not very into crafting...
Mostly into the tools breaking is more annoying than anything, I find myself not catching any fish or bugs because I don't want my tools to break so that I'm forced to remake them...
I've loved previous animal crossings, this one I think is good too, but I only play for an hour each day and then I get bored
I'm surprised not more people have criticisms of this game
18:03 wholesome visual
Happy Arlo is the best Arlo!
It's day 2 for me in Animal crossing, and I can completely relate to what you say here - I don't remember the last time when a game absorbed me so much, and it's the first time I play Animal Crossing, so I wasn't sure if it's for me or not, but gosh...This game is just so precious...
That explains why I’ve been seeing this Cookie Monster walking down the street every day!
Wow. Solid advice at the end. I was actually out on a walk while listening to this video. The best way I could describe being out in the woods is like finally being home. Being under quarantine right after winter ended was a great way to make me forget that
Before getting the game I was replaying through Metroid Prime, now I can safely say i'm not getting the Ice Beam for at least 2 more months
"You'd get tired of fishing" I wish lmao
Having to unlock and build everything from the ground up is super cool. And I 100% agree on the going-for-walks advice!
6:44 HOW DO YOU DO THAT???
Ooooh, you buy it at the terminal for miles...
4:57 I am loving the Splatoon reference! Also the Ocarina is a nice touch! Great game!
I'm still wondering why you haven't reviewed Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition on Switch. Cleanse your Pokemon disappointment with a good monster game.
I can’t tell if this is serious or sarcastic
@@nickcushing7374 How is this sarcastic?
I just love your enthusiasm, Arlo!! I`ve just finished to download the game (waited for 2 hours uaua), and I am so excited!
Mwarrior1991 I really hope they fix that stuff, here are some other gripes I have:
-Manila clams don’t stack
-Flower plants don’t stack
-The max amount of money you can have in your wallet feels a little too low. I’d be happy if you could hold 200.000 bells with using inventory space
-Blathers constantly falling asleep in the daytime, leading to additional dialogue
-You can only build one ramp or bridge at a time, same with relocations
-Finally, Tarantulas have buggy behavior and will often disappear or otherwise faze through terrain
@@hobbokin706 hey! good stuff i forgot those
I have Poncho too and I LOVE him 😍😍My favourite villager!
New horizons reminded me why I like Animal Crossing again.
So.. things I like and don't like...
like:
1) the theme of using everything you have. being able to craft with your resources feels so rewarding. Even fishing up trash now excites me because I can recycle it into new stuff that looks fun
2) collecting DIY recipes is another loop of trading and collecting something you like to have. Its amazing to finally get that last recipe to get the last part of a set.
3) Nookmiles making certain tedious activities more fun. Catching cheap fish or pulling weeds was a waste of time before, now it feels more rewarding
4) the progression of your town from deserted to thriving is amazing.
As for the things i don't like:
1) you cant acces your storage from outside, so i leave all my crafting materials on the ground because its annoying to go in and out of the house fir materials. And thats messy
2) visiting someone's island takes FOREVER... not only setting it up, not only when youre opening your own town... but the CONSTANT and LONG interruptions when someone else visits or when multiple people join. The entire game stops for over a full minute just for one person to join... every time...
3) the nookmile islands are fun at first, but they lose their appeal. all you're doing is hoping you'll end up on a special island with special colored flowers or tarantula island. Also they don't hold a candle to the New Leaf island visit (even though that was broken with the tropical beetles you could bring back)
4) I dont experience this myself as a single player, but being a second player in your town SUCKS. you dont get anything of the story or progression, you don't get to learn how to make stuff. youre just along for the ride as you take a backseat to the first player. This makes sharing the game on one switch terrible. many of my friends spoke out how theyre enjoying it less.
5) it would be fun if you were able to skip a few nookmiles+ challenges per day. Sometimes i get a challenge to catch a certain bug, while there's rain in my town all day and said bug will not appear. just something like: refresh your nookmiles+ would be nice
6) even though you have a switch, you can't draw designs on your touch pad... even though you can draw on your notification board. its kind of annoying.
7) and, a in a way a good thing: the game is so good that it sucks having to wait for all the editing stuff to unlock. im waiting anxiously for me to be able to make pavements.
Title actually had me worried for a second
Is that our master, doshin the giant that I see as your profile pictue?
Doshin gang
The interactions between you and Kane are so wholesome!! :)
Don’t scare me like 5hat with such a title XD (litterally playing new horizons while watching this).
couple things - first, thank you for being so genuinely caring of your fans. In fact I JUST came back from my first walk of many during my time working at home so I actually read your mind. Your videos seriously help a lot to feel like I have someone to talk to, so I want you to know I appreciate you greatly :)
second - what do you think of free DLC updates as Nintendo has sorta made that their norm? There seems to be a few building and main villagers gone, do you think we'll get an update to build a whole new building? What if its also quest-y/goal oriented where you get the update and get to do a couple things to make the new main villager stay in your town? What if there's something like that with major holiday events? I feel like there's a lot of room for AC to just keep creating new goals and quests for us to do in the coming months
