I think if I was going to get a fancy electronic optic for a rifle, I would have to go thermal. I used to do antitank stuff, you can't hide from thermal, day or night. Night vision is nice, but it won't show you a well hidden individual or somebody in a ghilli suit. Put a 2000+ lumen flashlight (under $50 these days) on your rifle and you're fine for hogs and coyotes. The thing to worry about is marauders or bad preppers being half a$$ed stealthy trying to hit you in the middle of the night - they'd be perfectly visible with thermal. Granted they're considerably more expensive, but the investment is probably worth the money.
I been looking for a good night site. This one has crossed my path multiple times when looking... just wondering if this is the updated version or newest version.
I was worried there for a minute or two, having purchased this scope to mount onto a .457 Texan Airgun. I would say your video answered quite a few questions for me naturally, I’ll draw my own conclusions. My ATX 3-14 arrives later this week, can’t wait! 👍
Don't know if you have ever zeroed in a scope before but you don't shoot more than 1 round per distance zeroing and you should have a gun vice or sled not a bag cause you don't want your rifle to move after your shot
I had fun getting my ATN 5-20 to work. I can say ATN took care of any problems I had. There is a definite learning curve with this product but once you get it, the scope rocks. I have used it on my crossbow and sig cross 6.5 creedmoore. The built-in range finder it the way to go.
I don't trust any scope. I bore sight on a house a block away from my balcony and then I'm close. And I use 1 shot zero from there. Always have. Also, I take all the giant cardboard from the pallets at Sam's club and use them for behind targets when zeroing, and to cut my human size targets out of. Then you don't have to wonder where you're hitting, with a 3'x3' cardboard. 👍
That also works well for figuring out drop. Get the near zero of your choice, mine is 25, Bear’s is 36. Then keep going back using the same point of aim and shooting a group. Mark it then repeat. Then you can check that your scope actually moves the value it says it does per click as you make your adjustments. Know what your gear does.
@@_GlockComa then write the gun, ammo, distance in yards/meters of the group, drop in: inches/cm, angular measurement MOA/Mils and you come ups in clicks and take a picture for reference. The more info you write on the target the more useful the pictures will be to you in future.
I bought my ATN 5-20x day/night scope in 2019. If i told them the problem, they would know exactly what im talkin about but then say its out of warranty. But they know the issue.
Guy kinda comes off like a tool. The scope itself tells you to update the firmware. But he just says over and over "truth in advertising". Dude doesn't get how the oneshot zero works. Mine sees very well with a little illumination from the moon without the illuminator, and much better with it. Yes everyone knows the illuminator it comes with can be upgraded for even more range. I have this scope, bought it cheap refurbished 3 years ago and it works great. I have another thermal. I appreciate a company that makes good products that regular joes can afford.
have pondered with this for a few years now on utilizing this method or others for night mitigation . i am very interested in the final verdict on this product , i know you are very much like most of us that value for dollars of said product is very important . once again looking forward to your nightly review and overall input on true overall value , Thnx in advance . .
Great video! 👍 been evaluating the ATN and sight mark and still not sure due to mixed reviews on both. What made your decision on Atn and what illuminator did you purchase?
Bear to sight in a scope what I do is use cheap printer paper covering a pallet and sharpie a 2 inch circle as targets I know it’s (hill billy) but saves on targets helps get on paper quicker
I would have thought that a 1 shot zero means just that. take the shot re zero to it take another shot and see if you put the bullet through the same hole if you don't repeat the process until you do . Also a stable shooting position IE a bipod is essential to eliminate pilot error. i have a Yukon that does not have 1 shot zero but i use this method to zero it and my old browning puts every shot through the same hole at 50yds no problem 🙂😅😄
They made it right only because you have a large youtube channel. I tried 2 scopes from them, both are garbage (the one you have, and their lite version). They will not do their job if you can not make a lot of noise on social media, so buyer beware. The camera they use is a $25 low IR sensitivity camera, with something like RPI4 computer running some CV2 code, total cost about $60 minus the mount hardware.
I went through three ATN 4-K Pro scopes before I figured out how to use it without out freezing, buttons becoming unresponsive, blanked out screen, and corrupting the video files. Take it out of the box, put it on the rifle, and don't set any parameters other than the scope type and zero it. Not the date, not the time, nothing. And I haven't had a single issue with it in two years. Now I have three of them, 2 as 3-14X and 1 as 5-20X. Oh yeah, throw away the factory illuminators and get Odepro KL52 Plus. Forget the Supernova too; they are junk as well.
I think you would be much happier with a $5000 to $10000 dollar night scope . But I ordered the 5-20 from Optics Planet and that one had 5 stars from 955 reviews . But for the price I'm not expecting it to have a view like my Zeiss or my Nightforce . The IR illuminator I have is very strong and works great with my IR binoculars plus the green laser I have on my pistol really stands out . But I'm tired of holding binoculars with one hand and the pistol with the other . Have a blessed day .
My 5-20 works perfectly, did the firmware update myself per ATN instructions no problem. The unit has many neat features such as ballistic program interface through range finder. The key to night vision shooting is proper lighting, I have a sniper hog light 66lrx with ir module. it is like shooting in the daylight with no visible light. Would I go to war with it, probably not but it is a lot of fun and I have killed many coyotes and hogs with it.
The 0ne Shot Zero WORK's IF You know what you're doing. You have to be precise on setting the Aim of the 2nd shot off of the First shot (Get it Right) Fella's. You Need to Better than Hap-Hazardly trying to do it.
Good stuff brother. I will be curious to see what your night time results are. I got a Streamlight IR illuminator and that helps a lot but even still it is best used from a fixed position, trying to move and shoot is at night is no bueno the delay is just too slow. Keep up the good work!
Received my ATN-XSight 4K Pro 5x20 on January 28th, 2023 and today January 29th 2023 it's already packed up ready to ship back. I called ATN twice in the first two days because the scope has to be reset almost every time I turn it on. VERY UNHAPPY AT PRESENT. I was instructed to reinstall the already up to date firmware, per tech support, to see if that fixes the problem with a brand new scope. Updated per tech email and now when I turn the scope on I get a white screen and that's it. I called and talked to another tech support person and he said he would pass on the message instead of, "let's get the return process started for you sir". They don't seem too concerned that I received a brand new defective scope from them. Oh, and they can't send me another one until I send this one back. Not a good start for a new customer. It is now packed and ready to go if and when I get the RMA and shipping label. Very disappointed with ATN.
It doesn't suck... mine was actually good. The issue is hanging that and another 1lb Hog cannon IR LED off my AR. By the time of all the equipment on your rifle, you are pulling around 15lbs. Was able to see any 'eyes' out to 700yrds though. eh. I'll go thermal.
With all do respect you could have saved a big headache if yor read the owners manual from the get go to see clearly that you need to update the firmware. Thos is like buying a truck and being pissed you have to change the oil.
My first Digital NV was a home brew based on a EJ230 CCTV camera and a 50mm F1.3 C mount lens for a QB78 air rifle. The NV cost was around £150 and the IR illuminator was £16. The QB78 was around £100 with the upgrades and would get similar groups at night time around 25 yards. See 'Best IR Flashlights for Night Vision Review' by Rolanaids. With a more powerful IR illuminator such as a Dragonfly Laser (would be considered illegal in the US) 300-400 yards NV is possible.
The Dragonfly Laser even says free delivery to the US, and I don't see anything illegal about it. Now if you use it for murdering people or poaching game or hunting deer after dark, yeah THAT would be illegal, but that's nothing to do with the product. In the US I have some powerful lasers, two of which are laser pistols, as in someone breaks in, you blind them permanently with a laser from a safe distance and run in and stab with the blade on the front of the tool. One is an adorable little baby sized pocket ray gun (its designed to look like a child's toy, I even have glow in the dark radioactive symbol on the side, and has barrel shroud over part of the heatsink), that one is legit terrifying and its beam was extremely high quality (and the pale blue color of Ben Kenobi's lightsaber before the digital remastered version), even unfocused beam it would scorch hardwood floors at ridiculous burn speeds. Didn't last super long though, the diode turns out wasn't actually rated for the 6 amps at the 12.6v I was running it at... So I know that Dragonfly "laser" isn't really a laser, but even if it was the US has no law against having photon optical weaponry and energy devices, nor do they have a law saying you can't cram 200 lasers into a laser rifle that burns through steel doors. That's perfectly legal (assuming its your own door or house you are setting on fire).
Speaking of "outdated software" that is just a reality. Look at fishing forums and comments by those who don't know how to software upgrade their software. Sometimes it's as simple as using the correct size sd card
Nice. You need to Collab with Shield Barrer on safety glasses neck strap so you don't forget to wear them, good sir. Protect your vision, brother. We all forget.
These scope are a complete trash and a gimmick! My ALWAYS locks up and freezes. Yes I did the update which is a whole process on its own (the update process requires you to register and post your phone number which is completely invasive). Still it freezes and then it requires a reboot. At higher zoom, the image is terrible! The included mounts are horrible and might as well be plastic. I stripped two screws right away without even trying.
love the effort your put into the video but why not follow directions on one shot siting the gun once you have hit paper? you are not supposed to make any adjustments.
For all those commenting on Bear not doing a "1 shot zero"...it doesn't matter what the manufacturer claims, you need a 2nd shot to verify. Now I would hand boresight to get close to paper, fire a shot, adjust for impact and verify the final with a 3 shot group.
I know this comment is old, but he completely compromised the way of doing it. Yes, you always want to shoot a follow up to verify. BUT you do NOT want to shoot a group before adjusting at all with a 1 shot zero. Shoot one, adjust the cursor to the shot and save, shoot again and you’ll be on. You don’t know which shot to adjust to when you fire a group without any adjustments and it causes you to take a lot more shots than needed. This is only the second video I’ve seen from this guy and he just seems ignorant in both but that’s just my opinion.
@@nicholasburgin5359 Most rifles will not stack rounds on top of each other...you hope for a rifle capable of a 1" group, but most are likely closer to 2". So firing 1 shot can be 1-2" out from the next. Find the center of you group and adjust for that to "center" you rifle's groups with the optic.
The Olight white/IR flashlight is pretty awesome. The rifle one(they made a very limited run of pistol W/IR lights(yeah I got one and it is awesome also!)) should throw 300 meters . I have not tested it that far, too much ambient light . My testing in a dark(no windows) building. The light is very bright, both white and IR. Money well spent. Only downside is that the hi/low pressure switch only works for the white light, the IR is always high. But still 2 thumbs up!
I generally believe you get what you pay for but I was pretty sold on grabbing one of these this Sunday but now I'm second-guessing. While it is not expensive in the world of night vision it is a serious amount of money for me and I am afraid of running into a problem that perhaps won't be taken care of. Add to that it sounds like I'm going to spend money on an IR illuminator to get it working. Once again, you get what you pay for. 😔

As a software engineer, a dude who writes that firmware, I can't be fucked to update my device firmware. Y'all aren't the only ones who hate that shit.
I don't like complex neither, I've got a old gen one, for what it's worth, in the pitch dark, with illumination you can own 75 to 100 yards may not totally identify it , but hay, as you say WHEN THE BALLON DROPS, don't be sincking around in my yard, it better with ambient, just stay in the shadows, tho, I don't know but it looks like a filter maybe separation, it still works, just a thin line across the lens, I got in touch with on of there tecs I guess, sent in it cereal numbers, getting back a couple days later, oh no we don't service those no more needing to buy a new one, guess that's normal,,,, I guess, right, I don't want complicated cheap
I get the frustration, but the info is dead on in the instructions and "youtube". These are made by humans and abused by us. My first 4k had a circuit board issue, got it repaired and it happened again. ATN made it right and some. I also have a thor lt and thor ltv, love them

I’m not in the night vision game. I wonder if thermals would be a better investment?
Thank you for the review Brotha...
I been looking for a good night site. This one has crossed my path multiple times when looking... just wondering if this is the updated version or newest version.
Can someone share the best illuminator to add beside the one that comes I. The box it’s not the best
The 1st day I used it it was great but I have to 0 every time I use it now
I still have the Box and everything that came with it. BRAND NEW.
this is the type of scope id do research and know how to operate it before purchasing, slapping it on my rifle and start shooting.
I was worried there for a minute or two, having purchased this scope to mount onto a .457 Texan Airgun. I would say your video answered quite a few questions for me naturally, I’ll draw my own conclusions. My ATX 3-14 arrives later this week, can’t wait! 👍
do you like it?
Nice scope ( as compared to the one I don't have), What really caught my eye was how nicely your trigger works as compared to my stock one.
I Noticed That Too. I Wonder What Kind It Is?
The scope mount will come loose after handful of shots as well
Don't know if you have ever zeroed in a scope before but you don't shoot more than 1 round per distance zeroing and you should have a gun vice or sled not a bag cause you don't want your rifle to move after your shot
❤ God bless you brother..
Does it have the gps function? If so, I suggest getting it removed or disabled
Even better it wants to talk to the others in your group. It is a “feature”!
I had fun getting my ATN 5-20 to work. I can say ATN took care of any problems I had. There is a definite learning curve with this product but once you get it, the scope rocks. I have used it on my crossbow and sig cross 6.5 creedmoore. The built-in range finder it the way to go.
I got the sightmark wraith for under $500,and love it
I don't trust any scope.
@@charlesmckinley29 great idea brother!
Please try the ATN thermal sight and give me your opinion please
have pondered with this for a few years now on utilizing this method or others for night mitigation . i am very interested in the final verdict on this product , i know you are very much like most of us that value for dollars of said product is very important . once again looking forward to your nightly review and overall input on true overall value , Thnx in advance . .
The only reason I did not sell my ATN 5-20 x day/night scope is cuz i dont want them to feel the way i have.
Great video! 👍 been evaluating the ATN and sight mark and still not sure due to mixed reviews on both. What made your decision on Atn and what illuminator did you purchase?
Don’t get it I have one just buy the ai one leaf nv400 10x better 10X CHEAPER
It’s a great scope for the price, if you are really into night hunting the flir is superior. The flir also cost a hell of a lot more money.
That would be a understatement..
Closing one eye aiming with the scope 😂😂😂. Are you a Pirate now? 😂
Bear to sight in a scope what I do is use cheap printer paper covering a pallet and sharpie a 2 inch circle as targets I know it’s (hill billy) but saves on targets helps get on paper quicker
No recoil pad?? Bear is a stud !! I almost pissed away coin on a atn headache. Thanks YT
Recoil pad for what??
Do you think the wraith is a better alternative?
Can this work on a moving target? Hitting something moving is a lot harder.
I have a couple of the Sightmarks and am really happy with them. I use them for feral hogs at night in Ctrl Tx.
Were you packing a wheel bearing before you shot this?
I think you would be much happier with a $5000 to $10000 dollar night scope . But I ordered the 5-20 from Optics Planet and that
one had 5 stars from 955 reviews . But for the price I'm not expecting it to have a view like my Zeiss or my Nightforce . The IR
illuminator I have is very strong and works great with my IR binoculars plus the green laser I have on my pistol really stands out .
You couldn’t manage a firmware update, here’s your sign.
good ol jeff foxworthy haha
Good stuff brother. I will be curious to see what your night time results are. I got a Streamlight IR illuminator and that helps a lot but even still it is best used from a fixed position, trying to move and shoot is at night is no bueno the delay is just too slow. Keep up the good work!
Streamlight Super Tac IR light. Little bit big but boy does it kick booty! They can be had for a hundred bucks give or take a couple bucks.
@Bear. Do i spy a psa trigger? If so they are super. Glad they made it right. They aren't going to ignore the 🐻
Good video as always brother T shalom
I’ve been looking to get into night vision. I may check this one out. Thanks for the info!
They don't have product support, so if there's an issue, it's a paperweight.
That little IR light they give you is bs. You'll want a hog cannon or something good. Promises.
@Frumple Bumbleforn Ya, long range means I suck.
With all do respect you could have saved a big headache if yor read the owners manual from the get go to see clearly that you need to update the firmware. Thos is like buying a truck and being pissed you have to change the oil.
If I need an SB card it won't work for me WHAT IS AN SB CARD ?
That looks like my rig👍
Very nice trigger you've got on your rifle there, BTW.
Speaking of "outdated software" that is just a reality. Look at fishing forums and comments by those who don't know how to software upgrade their software. Sometimes it's as simple as using the correct size sd card
Waiting for the next edition. I hope I am impressed
Putting this on my M1A loaded precision
What upper is that again?
SD card pops out
Scope mounts never stay tight
O every time u go to range.
Wont 0 properly.
Here we r
Careful over torquing ur scope mounts lol. Btw the scope will ve ready to fall off after 10 shots or less. Lol
So...when it says it's a smart scope all they mean is that you have buttons instead of knobs now :'D
Awesome content as always Bear! Thank you !
My personal opinion is it doesn’t suck. It serves its purpose as a novice night hunting scope.
What’s the level up version for that ??
@@ricksadler797 infrared instead of this type that requires an "illuminator"
I like the SightMark Wraith better.
Great video to zero the scope u only shoot one shot them move crosshairs over shot and boom u are zeroed I ha e one for two years works great use it for anything form hunting to airspft to real life defense
Be careful you don't punch out your SD card because that rubber falls OPEN.
Might try a bigger target! Just saying bud!
I get the frustration, but the info is dead on in the instructions and "youtube". These are made by humans and abused by us.
My first 4k had a circuit board issue, got it repaired and it happened again. ATN made it right and some. I also have a thor lt and thor ltv, love them
Oh he took a moment to read the directions
Took 60 rounds and was getting 12’ groups with a occasional I don’t know where it went. I took it back and said the hell with atn. Thinking about giving them another chance
1st it was amazing. After that i had to 0. & still couldnt hit shit
Nice group!
