    excellent video congratulations. I have a 3x14 HD device from ATN. On the home screen the measuring tape does not drop 25 meters. Therefore, targets below 25 meters are not accurate. I have already updated the system to no avail. All the videos I could check the measuring tape adjust to less than 25m and the chosen setting is on the home screen. What can this problem be?

    I assume that part of the process that isn't shown explicitly in this video is to set the estimated distance of the target first under the settings > profiles/zero > current a.k.a the "zero distance"? Looks like you had 15 meters already put in during this video.

    I'm looking to put one of these on my Ravin R15 crossbow and am a little confused on the one shot zero. Say I use the one shot zero at 40 yards and its dead nuts, what happens when I move back to 80 yards? Does the scope automatically read it to 80 yards and internally adjusts to where I put the reticle?

    • @foxoptic5887
      @foxoptic5887  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ray Ohl No, the one shot zero is for setting the initial aiming point of the scope. I think you are probably referring to the balistic calculator/shooting solution. Theoretically you could use it to compensate drop by wigging out the input distance and info settings but it would probably be more confusing than just using the approximation marks on the included cross bow reticle. You would zero at 30 or 40 yards and use the drop compensating lines for longer yardage similar to a traditional cross bow scope.

    I can't get this sight on paper at 25 or 50 yards. I have lots of guns and have installed lots of regular scopes but I'm not very good with computerized stuff. I think I'm missing something on the electronics side . I'm shooting a cz 22 wmr. It is literally feet off on windage and elevation . Loved your video and any input would help . I tried what you did and maxed out the windage and elevation and still not close . I also can't get crosshairs to return to center of screen

  • @ChristopherStClair-mw1gq
    @ChristopherStClair-mw1gq 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    But do you have to zero it each time you zoom or can you zoom it close and zero it zoom out and from that point it's super accurate.

    • @foxoptic5887
      @foxoptic5887  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's accurate across the power range at a given distance like any traditional optic would be, it just has more features, less parallax issues, and and less mechanical components. You have several options to deal with various distances. Ballistic calculator, drop compensation reticles, or switching zero profiles.

    So do you go into profile> current and change the range once zeroed or did you change it prior to zeroing. My currently say 25 yrds but I want to zero at 50yrds. Would I change before referring or afterward? Or create a new profile! When I create new it still has some value for range (it keeps the 25yrds) thats different than what I want to zero from.

      Yes, you can set the scope profiles for up to 6 different rifles. With the addition of a quick attach picatinny mount, this can be even easier. • @foxoptic5887
      @foxoptic5887  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can sight in at the initial distance that you choose. Provided that you properly setup the ballistics calculations, turn it on, and enter the changes in distance to target. The calculator will then use the primary zero coordinate and initial zero distance to calculate impact shifts across the trajectory flight path and move the reticle accordingly. (To the best of its ability given the conditional accuracy of the inputs)

    What happens if the target is closer or further off than zero?

    • @foxoptic5887
      @foxoptic5887  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could either: A: adjust reticle hold position manually just like you would in most traditional optics or B: pre-install all the required ballistics information in the ballistics calculator, turn it on then simply tell the sight the distance it is actively shooting. In the basic sight, this can be done by either using the Quick Entry or the angular distance "rangefinder". If you have the Laser Ballistics rangefinder or ABL this can be accomplished via the laser rangefinder. Using the Ballistics Calculator the sight will adjust the reticle for you provided it knows the original sight-in distance, all ballistics information, and new "active" distance to target for adjustment. See the following video. th-cam.com/video/eX_jTUqgrWM/w-d-xo.html

    I noticed your scope said 177ft, was that accurate? I zeroed my scope at 100 yds but when I turn on my scope and look across the room it says 297 yds. Why is that?

    • @foxoptic5887
      @foxoptic5887  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ron Sears I was not actually using the ballistic calculator, just the one shot zero. The numbers were still showing, as I had left it on from a previous test. If yours is reading something in the upper left it probably came from inadvertently enter/exiting the range finder, or was moved using the quick entry mode. You can change it to whatever you want using the quick entry option on the menu, the icon looks like a tape measure. It won't effect anything unless your ballistic calculator is active. You set the target zero distance in the ballistic profile portion and when the calculator is active it uses the known distance reference (zero yardage) and the active yardage as part of the equation when it moves the reticle. Call me if you have further questions, I also have a video on how to set up and use the ballistic calculator. Thanks Travis Fox Fox Optic 877 806 2977

    What’s the recommended distance to zero?

    • @foxoptic5887
      @foxoptic5887  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recommend zeroing at the most appropriate distance for your situation. (Try and zero at your average presumed game distance or the best midpoint for your trajectory curve.) On sonic flat calibers typically 50, 100, or 200 yards. Obviously much different on PCP air rifles or cross bows.

  • @thegolflife7565

    What distance is optimal to perform this at?

    • @foxoptic5887
      @foxoptic5887  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Initially I start fairly close to ensure I am on paper, but ultimately confirming at your maximum average shooting distance is the best option in my opinion. I would rather confirm and prove 200 yard groups than rely on a tight 50 and the calculator, if for no other reason the practice of actually shooting to that distance.

    How would this scope hold up on a 270

    • @foxoptic5887
      @foxoptic5887  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The top recoil recommendation is .308 semi-auto, I don't think I would recommend exceeding that as the eye-relief is short and the physical weight of the scope itself could be an issue with the guns mounting system. If you are after primarily night vision, I would look at the Sightmark Photon RT or X-Sight 4K units for heavier recoil applications. The Photon is digital has a real good price and is very durable, it will work day or night also but is black and white only and is heavily geared toward night performance. The 4K Pro unit has a great daytime color image but requires a lot of IR light for night performance. The Sightmark Stream Vision application and device are both more robust in my opinion. Both the RT and 4K are 30mm tube mounted, have much higher recoil ratings and considerably better eye relief.

      @@bdrone9183 The ABL 1000 rangefinder is a lot of fun. I have had a few connection issues and it desperately needs a few re-designs, but for the money, overall it is a cool concept, I just wouldn't trust it in on a really serious hunt. It attaches to the front of the sight and wirelessly feeds the rangefinders distance readings into the sights ballistic calculator for automatic reticle adjustments. The scopes ballistic calculator feature is fun. It is cool to see how accurate it can be and you can actually learn a lot from "watching" it operate.

I understand your frustration but a single experience only equals truth to you and while I am not an ATN fan either the numbers on this particular unit paint a different picture.

    Everyone lies about this scope; either because they are agents of atn for benefit... or ignorant. Notice the guy old adjustment jumps the cross hairs. Then he says must of been something else and blows it off. What if every time you went to use it; the thing had to be re zeroed. Which is my experience. A complete waste of money. But for people who plink in the back yard with an air gun (teens); maybe not so bad; but you will have to adjust constantly... and that card and holder will most likely be messed up (ATN will lie to you; just call them after you experience problems with it holding zero... is this supposed to hold zero. Why yes it will.). This is a very expensive piece of junk that should be given away to teens in cracker box giveaways. If a professional bought this they would wig out at this crap. ATN board members; are they liberals trying to put inferior gear in every gun owners hands. Maybe?

I did, however, quit selling ATN sights in early 2018 as I felt quality issues with the later 4K series units showed low integrity, were poorly addressed, and that ATN left a lot of their customers dealing with their premature release of an obviously underdeveloped product.
