- I ride my bike through some of the richest towns in America.
Winnetka, Glencoe, and Kenilworth are just a few Chicago suburbs in the North Shore.
There's also Evanston, Highland Park, Lake Forest, etc., that hug the shorelines of Lake Michigan
where some of the most wealthiest people reside in America.
Take a ride with me along Sheridan Rd. and enjoy the sights and sounds of the North Shore.
I also visit the 1990 film "Home Alone" house in Winnetka, IL along with the 1984 "Sixteen Candles" movie ending seen played at Glencoe Union Church in Glencoe, IL.

This comment is late but you clearly left for a reason. It seems to me that you were searching for something different than your happenstance.
Maybe presently you didn’t wind up with what you had hoped for but it doesn’t mean that the path you have taken will not take you to somewhere in which you are happier in future.
Although I haven’t been to the North Shore of Chicago, it does seem like a nice area though.
There's not a person on the planet who thinks Madison Wisconsin is a better choice than winnetka Glencoe Highland Park Lake Forest...

Thank you for filming in my hometown. Me and my sister was raised up there and we used to play snowball fight together. I also brought my hubsand up here and hung out a few times and bike riding on the bike trail. He really enjoy the area but we also like the Indiana Dunes since we moved to Indiana now.
Love this video. I take Sheridan through (don’t remember the actual order), Evanston, Kenilworth, Winnetka and I always stop to see the house from Home Alone, Glencoe, Willmette, Highland Park, Deerfield all the way to Naval Base/Six Flags.
Its a great ride. Very peaceful around there. Great views!

There are neighbourhoods like this where I live. Large, older houses, wide roads, quiet and clean. Though, the upscale neighbourhoods in Chicago seem like they go on forever.

I lived at the white Spanish house (at 10:41) on the left hand side in the 80's. It wasn't white at the time - it was the original old Spanish tan brick. Such a shame to paint 100 year old brick.

North Shore has some even larger mansions that you don't see in this video. If you Google Earth it, you'll see alot of them running along Lake Michigan Shore.

Ha when we moved to Winnetka, that’s exactly what our neighbor did - left homemade cookies in our mailbox. I know, I couldn’t believe it either. She has since passed and we are now in CA but I was so grateful to call her a friend. She was from another era. And at 60+ stunningly beautiful.

You have good perception and or intuition. I was friends with movers 25 years ago. One day they came home after a job white as ghosts & all freaked out. They had to move satanic stuff to a dungeon of one of those beautiful mansions. They weren't allowed to talk about it & had to sign non disclosure agreements. Keep in mind these were very tough men kinda criminal & they were scared to death.

I saw this when I visited Chicago last September 2021....but you should have gone to the inner streets east or west of Sheridan road. You will see really large houses with large front and back lawn

Beautiful places i live in Kenosha wi and have driven sheridan road all the way to lake shore drive dozens of times but i must say the lake geneva Shore path is better it has the most beautiful landscape in the country featured in country living magazine just breath taking mansions

I rode my bicycle every Sunday right along that route (Lincoln, Pine) in the neighborhood of the "Home Alone" house (and The Community House) on the way to the church that's there when you get to Sheridan Road in the video. Of course, that was the late 60;s, but a lot of that is still familiar.
I lived in that neighborhood. My house is front and center at 15:53 (L-shaped, on the hill right across from the church). Kerry Wood, ex-Cubs pitcher lives next door on the right.
Used to deliver for Amazon in Winnetka amazing suburb. Words can't describe....heaven
You was the luckiest person . Amazon workers are busy, it's like christmas daily , ourselves and others are
always ordering from Amazon . I have snacks and drinks for our Amazon workers on the doorstep.
As far as our Mail lady , I always give her a gift of something , she's a very nice and friendly .
For Christmas , I'll baked cookies, brownies and other snacks and give them away . I appreciate their services .

I was brought up in Winnetka half a block away from Lake Michigan and loved it there. Being so close to the lake Clement Stones' rich property you were allowed to go on the beach and swim and have fun when I was young but at 17 I moved on my own to Boulder, Colorado. I remember Kenilworth being very Racist and not letting Jewish or Black people in no matter how much money they had, sad.

Since I make a quarter of the median income, could I buy a quarter of a house on a quarter-sized lot? LOL! I'm afraid I'd be like a Beverly Hillbilly, though. Beautiful area. I love older places like the homes there. Such character and class! And I just love the sense of peace there, as well. Sigh.
Not all the houses in these towns are as big as the ones he is showing. These ones along the lake are the behemoths, but farther inland, the houses are smaller and the incomes are more in line with the stated median income. The houses shown on the lakefront are surely owned by people who earn much much more than that median income.

I must say, though, that I do have a small place in a similarly affluent neighborhood in a very different metro area almost two thousand miles away. Fortunately (for me), I live just three blocks away from a street with big houses and lawns much like the ones shown in this video. I miss Chicagoland sometimes, though.
