I live in Arlington Hts and it's great here. I also like Evanston, Northbrook, Glenview, Deerfield, Skokie, Schaumburg, Mt Prospect, Niles, and Barrington.

I grew up on the Southside of Chicago in the Roseland neighborhood in the wild 💯 and my wife and her sister grew up in Winnetka IL since childhood but we are living up there by the Indiana Dunes in the Michigan City, IN but I still drive her to go see her parents because I want her to spend time with her family while they're still there. I remember me and her rode that bike trail to Kenosha and back to her stomping grounds, we also rode our bike rides to Downtown Wilmette. I didn't have my bike that time and they had a spare bike for the guest. I got my parents a nice home up there close with me and they're happy. I try to get my wife's parents up here close to me but they love their hometown because they was raised there all their life so I can't blame them. I really enjoy the diversity culture of decent urban community coming together with suburban community. I love how we have the South Shore Line NICTD train close to the area where we can walk home from there. 2 stations in Michigan City like Metra have 3 stations in Winnetka.

Thanks so much for sharing your story! It sounds like you have a rich connection to both the North suburbs and the Southside of Chicago, and now even extending to Michigan City. Your bike rides and family visits paint a vivid picture of how both urban and suburban communities can blend beautifully. It's wonderful to hear how you've managed to keep family close and maintain those strong ties. The accessibility of transportation like the South Shore Line certainly adds to the convenience and appeal of living in that area. Your appreciation for the diverse cultures and community dynamics really resonates. Thanks again for watching and for your thoughtful comment!

@@ralphieandryan No problem and I love the diversity of culture from different areas being together. We're also in a interracial marriage because I'm black and she's white. We don't care about the backlash because our love for each other is genuine from the heart.

@@ralphieandryan My wife get to know more about my urban neighborhood and I get to know more about her suburban neighborhood. She loves those donuts from that black owned business in my neighborhood and yeah we love it up here in Michigan City, IN very reasonable for a house.

Grew up in Lansing, Hammond Calumet City back in 70s and 80s . I knew Northwest Indiana and Michigan City with my eyes closed but can’t say even though it is more expensive I don’t love living in the northwest suburbs or the 10 years I lived in Lakeview in the city.
I always loved the South Shore.

Great video and very informational! You both have so much knowledge on these suburbs, more than other videos that don’t show as much about the suburbs or are very detailed!

Pricey, pricey, pricey (relative to the net incomes of most Americans). And property taxes? With high home prices come high taxes in Lake County and Cook County. These suburbs are not for the faint of heart or for those who have small bank accounts. You do get what you pay for, though, and these suburbs are truly wonderful.

Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and share a love for Winnetka and Lake Forest. Your suggestion to include Evanston is great, as it's indeed a wonderful North Chicago suburb. While I focused on 10 suburbs in this video, Evanston is definitely a notable addition that offers its own unique charm and attractions. Thanks for your input and for being a part of the conversation! If you have any more thoughts or insights, feel free to share.

@@ralphieandryan first of all, love this channel and the commitment to making amazing videos and being in touch with your audience in the comments section. Now, I’m here seconding the comment from my friend here about Evanston, but beyond suggesting that it should be included, I’d ask what specific downsides you would consider worth knowing about, that kept them out of your list. I’d really appreciate this information since I’m considering a move there soon and so far it looks like a great balance of great education suburban living and specially its proximity to the loop compared to most highly rated suburbs. Thanks for the amazing work.

Wow, thanks so much for the love and support! It truly means the world to us. 🌟
It was tough narrowing down our top 10 list, and honestly, Evanston was right up there with the contenders. It’s a fantastic suburb with a lot to offer - great schools, a wonderful community vibe, and of course, its proximity to the beach and the city.
Our lists are primarily focused on safety and schooling, and by no means is Evanston lacking in those departments. It’s a suburb I personally love to visit, especially for beach days, and I absolutely adore the real estate and overall atmosphere there.
It all really boils down to personal preferences and what you’re looking to get out of your living experience. Do you have kids? Are you looking for a certain lifestyle? Evanston might just be the perfect fit for you.
Feel free to reach out directly if you’d like to dive deeper into this or if you have any more questions. Always here to help out!

@@victorstewart395 Thanks for the love and your valuable input! Evanston totally deserves a shoutout. 😄
As for downsides, well, like any place, it has its quirks. Some folks mention the cost of living, especially housing. Traffic can be a thing, and property taxes in Illinois can be a bit steep. 🚗💰 But it's all part of the package.
Schools can vary, so check out the ones that'd serve your area if you have kiddos. The diversity here is fantastic, but every community has its unique dynamics.
In the end, it's all about what suits your needs and vibe. Evanston's got a lot to offer, and I'm sure you'll make a great choice! If you have more questions, feel free to ask. Happy house hunting! 🏠🔑

      North Chicago is bad.
Northside of Chicago is good for the most part. North suburbs of Chicago are great. South Chicago is a neighborhood in Chicago that's bad. Southside of Chicago has over 30 different neighborhoods that are each different and are good, bad, and ugly. The south suburbs are mostly good but some of them are also bad and ugly.
